"Protego!"

Cassius did not enjoy using the shield charm. There was no doubting its utility; but, if he had to use it, it meant he was losing or had placed himself at a disadvantage. Still, there were ways to turn disadvantage into advantage.

At the same moment the fog was lifted by Damion's fog lifted, three spells barreled towards Cassius. Cassius cast the shield charm just in time to dissipate two. The third he managed to perfectly redirect towards Opeila with a subtle shift in his posture. He was glad too as that particular gust of wind looked stronger than others he'd seen, and it was satisfying seeing the Slytherin attacks turned against them.

With his teammate by his side, Cassius drew a deep breath and prepared himself for their next moves.

The Slytherin's luck seemed to have run out entirely at this point. One of the Ravenclaws blew the fog away, Ruby's and her own's hit Cassius' shield and dissipated.
And Hanako... Hanako cast one hell of a ventus. Maybe Opeila would have even felt a bit of admiration for the cast, if it didn't miss one of the Ravenclaws and bounced off of the other one's shield to-

Before she realized what was happening, a gust of wind blew her off her feet with a force she didn't see coming. For a second she was disoriented, but then caught Hanako's gaze. Or... his eyeroll more like it. That was it.
Opeila felt something snap inside her. After everything that this little demon had done to her, he still had the audacity... The Slytherin got back to her feet and walked over to her teammate. Looking him straight in the eyes while delivering a forceful kick to his shin.

"Try that again, I dare you.", she hissed before turning back to the game. No, she was not referring to the spell, Opeila was pretty sure that had been an accident. But she was so done with his attitude. In her first year she had made the mistake to try and ignore his bullying. If it was starting again, she would make sure that it was in his interest to stop.

Ruby’s spell was dissipated by the Ravenclaw’s shield. Disappointing, certainly, but what was happening with her teammates was more significant and distracting. Hanako’s spell had ricocheted off of the shield and had hit Opeila—great, getting hit by their own spells was just what they needed right now—who had then… kicked him? While that was very faintly amusing, even the exhaustion and lightheadedness couldn’t prevent Ruby’s exasperation. Their team wasn’t doing well and this was what those two chose to do? Kick a teammate in the middle of a match? Stick their tongue out? She really was paired with immature children. “Focus on hitting the other team instead,” she hissed at both of them. Rolling her eyes, she focused back on the Ravenclaws—where all of the Slytherins’ focus should be—and exhaled deeply.

– Damion's Protego backfired — any incoming spell won't require the Accuracy vs Evasion roll.

Sometimes, defence was the worst option. While Protego could save your life, if it fails, you spend so much energy on concentrating that you probably won't be able to dodge anything.

Damion decided to go the defensive way and failed enourmously. If anything would've come his way, he wouldn't be able to dodge.

Ruby started with a double Flipendo, first hitting Damion as expected — instantly and very painfully. The second went Cassius' way, and also very successful that there was no way to dodge it at all, even if Cassius would've tried. Maybe that painful hit was the reason for what the clever boy came up with. But in the next few seconds, the fireworks would drain the lifeforce from the stage.

Opeila tried to cast something, but Meenauh couldn't distinguish what in the whole loud noise that the stage was filling with. Meenauh only knew that nothing had come out from the wand.

Hanako wanted to start a fire, and his spell was successful, but the aim failed him and Cassius managed to dodge it after being hit with the Flipendo.

It was an epic moment of both tactics, wit and perfect casting. Cassius threw the Cracker Jinx, a underestimated spell. Threw it, splitting to both Hanako and Opeila. The acending noise from the crackers was filling everyone's ears as it failed to hit Hanako, but manage to hit Opeila. The spread was the issue. It kicked in into Cassius himself, but also spread to every single Slytherin on the stage. It was as if the three duellists would stand in the centre of fireworks exploding. The scene was horrendous. All the snakes fell down one by one, clearly defining the end of the duel.

Meenauh's jaw dropped and she silently stood from where she was sitting for the last seconds.

"Haaaalt!" she proclaimed after the pause that should've been shorter than it was.

It was unexpected, it was amazing.

"Er... So... I believe this ends the duel in favour of Ravenclaw team!" she spoke after another second or two.

"Congratulations to Ravenclaw!" she finally said, and the audience, which was also frozen in the view of what had unleashed, blasted in applause.

While the healers lazily climbed the stage to help the fallen, Meenauh rushed to Opeila and Ruby to help them out and bring them to the resurrection ritual, fetching a few chocolate bars from her satchel.

It was a long duel. She was tired. But not as tired as the snakes.
