[previously on Hanako’s #146th post of being delulu]
But there was something else stirring in his thoughts. A more deep-rooted ache that refused to calm down. But anger was an effective umbrella. A shield, effective to hide things that lurked underneath. Saying he was beyond disappointed and frustrated at Eun-ji, was far easier to admit than that he cared for her. That had to be why he felt like screaming her name at the top of his lungs. To demand why she was so uncharacteristically stupid. Like a safe blanket covering up the fearful admission of something else in his mind.
He brushed the back of his hair furiously, groaning. “ Damn it” he sneered under his breath, looking at the lake as if they had made an enemy of him. “ Damn it, damn it, damn it”. He was lost, exasperated, and in need of a good yell. His mind was a dangerous concoction of impatient anger, wrapped around a few other less fiery emotions he was too blinded to notice beyond his frustration.
Yet, he stayed. He couldn’t move. His eyes, perhaps even more motivated now- scanned the lake, hoping for a glimpse. A sign.
[Now onto more delulu]
The whirlwind of emotions in his head was an interesting symphony. Akin to an orchestra of tone-deaf musicians and broken instruments. With melodies as sweet as nails on a chalkboard. At the same time, it was slow. As if some parts of it settled down to a more somber tune. Hanako found himself both eager to yell and to silently plead.
A sign.
Despite the frustration numbing his logic, he wanted to see her. An assurance that tomorrow, he would see her in the hallways. Her graceful strides naturally guided his gaze towards her. The way the hint of lavender hits his nose if he was just close enough to pass by. Could he catch her gaze again? Send her a flirtatious wink that she’ll immediately retort with an less-than-amused eyebrow raise? Engage in their wordless language only they knew before they both looked away and into their separate lives? Was it awful that Hanako simultaneously regretted every single time he looked away first? Why did he do that? It was preposterous really. Humiliating even. Hanako Tone. The carefree senseless flirt that knew no better, hoping someone he shouldn’t care this much about, would come back. Embarrassing. Preposterous. An utter waste of his time and space.
And yet, the silent pleading continued. She wasn’t allowed to leave without letting him give her a piece of his mind, he decided.
It was only when the waters calmed completely and the boats started coming back to the dock, that he remembered how to breathe. Through the dim light, his eyes tried to catch her. Once it did, the fury that pricked his insides just now simmered. With each of her movements, her inaudible voice from the distance between them was another assurance that he could still see her tomorrow. That he could catch her gaze, and not look away this time. In fact, he barely found the energy in him to look away now.
But then his gaze caught the dress she wore. The wet fabric stuck to her like a second skin. Hanako looked away with a cough. Ignoring the warmth that may or may not have invaded his cheeks. The hell. Since when did he ever care about things like that? He scanned the area desperate for a distraction. A familiar-looking boy in a familiar shade of red traditional outfit walked by. Eun-ji’s date. All dry as if he hasn’t even been near the shore. Did he not join the hero squad earlier? It doesn’t matter. Whatever he did was wrong in Hanako’s eyes. 3 minutes earlier, he was tempted to punch him. An urge that came back rather quickly. Because the next second, Eun-ji’s date decided to smile at him. Actually smiled at him.
All pearly teeth and charming energy.
The gloating bastard. Hanako made sure not to hide the withered look he sent in the other boy’s direction.
It wasn’t until Hanako heard the sounds of boats near the dock in the distance that he turned away. Standing at a bit of a distance, it was just enough to see the sight of shivering people, in their wet clothes. He remembered what he felt before. The full force of it mellowed by relief, but it was enough for him to narrow his eyes and clench his fists, conveniently hidden by his pockets. What was she thinking? Going into a lake in the middle of autumn. It was essential to remember the stupidity of it all. The heroism she seemed to value. Never mind that there were a few others alongside doing the same thing she did. They were all idiots in Hanako’s head. She, on the other hand, he expected better from. And for unexplainable reasons, it was a mistake he was unusually fixated on.
The urge to walk up to her and demand answers was high. Hoping to get a grasp as to where all that maturity and sharp thinking went. However, he wasn’t angry enough to be blind to the crowd that surrounded her. His words surely wouldn't mesh well with the joyous mood everyone seemed to be in now that they knew they survived a life-threatening situation.
Just as he reluctantly tried to bite down the urge to yell, a…less joyous voice was heard from the crowd. Belonging to Eun-Ji Lee Hunt. Hanako’s eyes widened at the scene, not understanding a word she was saying. Evidently, though, she was less than pleased. She was being a terrible hero. If she was fishing for praise, she ought to be kinder to the people she saved. Judging aside, the corners of his lips slightly turned into what almost seemed to be a smile, before it disappeared.
It was annoying to admit, but he was glad she was okay. Only because she’d been great fun, course. And it would be such a shame for their little thing to stop. He gingerly picked up the layers of red cloth she left behind and made a bold decision to give it to her himself. It helped prevent him from pondering on how he begged whatever power in the universe to bring her back to him. If he didn’t think about it, it never happened. What he was thinking of instead was his opening. She didn’t need to know the extent of his worry. She needed some cheeky comment. An over-used flirt, a pick-up line - whatever it was to make himself appear his usual self. And maybe, just maybe - he could make her smile. Thinking she needed it after her scolding session.
“ Eun-ji! Wow, you're a natural in the water!”
He stopped in his tracks. Whatever small crinkle of relief in his eyes dimmed as Hanako watched the boy continue to talk. The garment in his hand felt heavier with each word said.
“ I'm glad you got there in time to save some people. I brought an adult to help out but I didn't really do much to assist you. Still, it seems as if you don't need any help though, you were awesome out there." The smile the boy sent to Eun-ji felt like a punch to Hanako’s gut. His eyes furrowed slightly, his grip on her clothes loose now. "Let me help dry you off at least."
His eyes remained on the way the boy -without hesitation- pulled out his wand to dry her. His jaw tightened as he struggled to look away. Was he really that deluded? Why did he feel like his presence was needed? Because he was frustrated earlier? Even then, what right did he have to even think he deserved an explanation? A right to feel angry at her actions? And just like that the earlier emotions he tried to suppress came forth, tensing his shoulders and planting a slight frown on his face.
While he was going through a multitude of ugly emotions, what was she doing? Was he ever even in her line of thought? The more he looked at how caring her date was, the more he thought she had better people to think about. And it was an acceptable, reasonable truth. One that they both knew. So why did it gutted him to his very core? Flee.
His gaze shifted towards her, unable to hide the slight surprise to find her looking back. Run away. A flash of slight panic was hinted in his eyes as if he were a deer caught in headlights. Almost like he didn’t expect her eyes on him. His features slowly morphed into confusion. It was routine at this point. Catching each other's gazes before one of them looked away. But why wasn’t she looking away first? More importantly- why wasn’t he? Why did he feel like he would miss out so much if he did? Like a wave of regret would plague him? What was he regretting? At the moment, his face betrayed a slimmer of relief. Allowing for a total of 2 seconds, to let himself feel the warmth in his chest that her mainly uninjured sight invoked in him.
Just as he almost reached a conclusion as to why he would regret looking away, his eyes briefed towards her date. The tension in his eyes returned. As if the red clothes burned him, he dropped it. Without another look, or even a glance- he walked away. Just walked. Slipped his hands in his pocket, specifically deciding to turn his head. Making sure she couldn't see his features. His steps being appearing more confident than he felt.
What’s there to regret? She was alive, at least. And she had a supportive boyfriend at her beck and call. Clearly, she had all the help she needed. Wanted, even. There was no place for him to intervene. That at least, was easier to believe than the idea that she would have thought of him as much as he did her.
To the grave, he muttered to himself as he left the vicinities of the great lake. To the grave, he will take whatever tangled-up feelings she sprouted in him. Along with the frightening realisation he even cared if she thought of him. Much older than their routine of engaging in wordless banter of sneaky glances, he had a routine of ignoring whatever was bothering him.
And right now, what he needed was away from everyone.

I felt pressure on my chest as I woke up, taking in a sharp breath and allowing the fresh air to fill my oxygen-starved lungs. I was bleeding very badly, with cuts all over my suit and body. I could feel every single place that had been cut, which was very painful. I also felt drained. Like even though I had just woken up, I was about to black out any minute now. ‘Blood loss’ I thought. I felt very lightheaded, and I felt like I was struggling to think properly. Like I couldn’t put together a coherent thought without having to put all my effort into doing so. I opened my eyes and saw a few people around, but I noticed another, older girl, who was much closer to me. I figured she was the one that brought me back to consciousness.
“Thanks.” I told her, before attempting to get up, stumbling along the way. This was going to be much harder than I anticipated. I turned back. There were quite a few students here. “Please,” I said to no one in particular as I continued trying to stand up, “I need to get to the Hospital Wing. I’ve lost a ton of blood so I’ll probably pass out before I’ll be able to make it there on my own, so could one of you help me get there?” By this point, I had managed to stabilize myself enough to stand, although I was still a bit dizzy. “Tell the head nurse that I’ll need a blood replenishing potion as soon as possible.”

Lanterns and Boat Rides
Blue in English, Red in KoreanAs Eun-ji provided the first aid to the unconscious boy, she could feel the boat start moving towards the shore. It appeared that Peri, once again, had her back. She watched the boy in her care cough up water and slowly come to himself just as they approached the dry land. He was clearly confused and tried to stand up so the older girl held onto him to keep him steady.
Considering everything, she expected Peri to show up help her out yet strangely enough, it was Piérre, who ended up stepping into the lake and offering her his hand. What was the boy doing still hanging around water after everything? Not to mention he was half naked and shivering. A regular girl would probably take the hand gratefully however, that was not her…at least not the current version of her. A memory of the boy grabbing his friend as he sank down flashed through Eun-ji's mind and she couldn’t help but smack him over his head. “Do you have a death wish? Still stepping into water?” She said like a mother scolding her child as she dragged the dizzy Rodney out of the boat. People tended to underestimate her strength, but she was a ballerina and as such had surprising amount of muscle and her balance was top notch so she didn’t need Piérre’s help. “You could have killed the girl. If you can’t swim don’t even look at the lake let alone try to ‘save’ other people. Even the younger kids know that.” She nodded towards the girls that arrived in the boat with her. They were clearly frightened but smart enough not to jump into the lake for the second time.
Eun-ji looked at Marietta as she forced Rodney to sit down onto the grass. His eagerness to go to the infirmary was good but he should at least catch his breath first. “Look at her, she is in shock.” She continued her lecture, frustration clear on her face. To be fair, the Huffepuff was clearly not the only one but Eun-ji still couldn’t help being mad at her classmate since he was older and should have known better.
At last, Piérre was saved by the young Slytherin.“It’s not the blood loss. It’s most likely the prolonged lack of oxygen that's making you dizzy.” She addressed Rodney’s concerns instead. Sure, the blood loss was concerning as well but it was not the worst thing about his current condition. After that, Eun-ji’s attention was once again shifted after being addressed by the first year that assisted her with pulling the unconscious boy into the boat. The young girl looked breathless and panicked but that was understandable. Afterall, it was most likely her first ball.
“Can’t say for sure but he should be fine after he receives a professional help.” She answered before pointing her wand at Rodney. “Reparifors.” The Ravenclaw enunciated the incantation calmly. “When he catches his breath, all three of you go to the infirmary. You may have not drowned but the hypothermia is still very much a thing. Besides, there is always a risk of dry drowning.” She didn’t elaborate on what dry drowning was. It would only scare the kids further. She just made sure it was clear form her voice that whatever it was, it was a dangerous condition. “I understand you didn’t know any better but Hogwarts balls are messy. Don’t place yourself into dangerous locations like the lake when you don’t have the ability to save yourself. Don’t expect the adults to be there to help either. They never are.” Eun-ji knew she probably could have been nicer to the them, but she lost that ability long ago. Only her efficiency and sense of duty remained. Kindness wouldn’t help them anyway. They needed to learn. She wasn’t jumping into the freezing lakes because she enjoyed it, which was probably pretty clear from her attitude. She was simply hardwired to do so and it would be really helpful if she didn’t have a reason to next time.
“Eun-ji! Wow, you're a natural in the water!...” Before she had a chance to say anything else, a familiar energetic voice cut through the air. It seemed Hiro finally finished his mission and brought an adult to help. Only…it was way too late. The situation was already pretty much solved at this point and all that was left was herding students into the infirmary. Of course, Eun-ji didn’t blame Hiro for that. She was sure he did his best. In her mind, it was the adults’ fault for taking so long. And after all this time and numerous requests for help, only one bothered to show up. “No need to help me. I know the spell, help the first years.” She instructed the persistent boy immediately as the hot air hit her clothes. “Better yet...help them into the infirmary.” She pointed at the trio next to her. Speaking of clothes…the witch wondered whether she wasn’t too harsh on Piérre before. Though his actions were simply inexcusable, Eun-ji knew he meant well. Perhaps she could at least lend him the robe she discarded before jumping to the lake. It should be dry, right?
As she thought about the forgotten garment, the Ravenclaw looked around to see if it was still there. And well… it was but someone else seemed to have found it first. “Hana…” The boy’s name slipped through her lips unconsciously. Was it the first time she used his name? It was, wasn’t it? For a moment, the world seemed to slow down around her. Good…he is safe. Eun-ji wasn’t sure why she felt so relieved. He was a fifth year, wouldn’t it be good if he was there to help at the time? (Eun-ji only thinks this because she is unaware that he cannot swim). Why was she so happy that he didn’t? It was an unreasonable thought and Eun-ji didn’t do unreasonable. Perhaps the adrenaline finally left her body and this was the aftereffect of that. For a moment, it looked like the Slytherin intended to go to her and she couldn’t help but take a step forward as well. As she did however, Hana dropped her robe back onto the ground and just…left. The action left her utterly baffled. Why would he do that? Wasn’t he the one that was on his way towards her first? Why did he change his mind so quickly? Did he suddenly decide he didn’t care all that much? Not even to briefly check up on her? And what was up with his expression? For some reason, Eun-ji couldn’t make sense of anything at that very moment. Her thoughts were all fumbled up. A rare couple of seconds, when she wouldn’t pass for the calm and composed person, she always was. There was an annoying nagging feeling at the back of her mind to drop everything and follow the boy yet it didn’t take long to shake it off. Why should I? Eun-ji scolded herself immediately. The two of them were just having fun. He had no obligation to check on her and she had no reason to chase after him. Yes. Just forget about him. She told herself stubbornly, fully aware that she wouldn't be able to.
“Thank you Peri.” The witch finally took her time to thank her fellow duellist, sounding considerably softer when speaking to him compared to all the other students. Afterall, he did nothing wrong. On the contrary…even now, he worked diligently on solving the kitty cat problem so his friend and the hysterical badger could leave as soon as possible. Sighing, the Ravenclaw went to collect her robe. Thankfully, it was indeed still dry. “Here. Take this and go to the infirmary once the cat is back. Take your friend too.” Her voice was still somewhat strict as she addressed Piérre for the second time but at least her actions weren’t unkind. It was always good to give panicked people a clear goal in these situations. They had less time to overthink if they had a task to focus on. She knew from experience.

────────────────────────────────────── MAHOUTOKORO ───────────
| ─── | What on earth had taken so long for the adults to come?!
Did this kind of thing happen at Hogwarts all the time? Last year it had been similar with the creepy doll. Not to mention how it had ended with the entire location going up in flames. That had been rather unexpected and heart-racing too and he'd even tried to help out at the time. He'd been able to reunite with some old friends back then too. The students had been pretty competent, Tone had to admit. Why did they even need adults there if they weren't going to come when they were needed to help save their students? The pink haired teen knew he was probably being unfair towards them but Tone couldn't help how he felt now. After all, it was almost as if they hadn't even been present at the current ball, despite learning in class that they would come instantly if a student shot a Red Sparks Charm up into the sky. No one had come at the time. Not until now. And even then, only one managed to make their appearance. What if it had been a more dangerous situation? What if students had been dying or something?! By the time the adults arrived at the scene, most of their students would have already been dead. A sigh escaped his lips. Whatever, it wasn't his place to raise concern over this matter. He didn't attend Hogwarts, maybe they did things differently here. Returning to the present time, Tone refocused himself. He managed to catch the eyes of a stranger, a boy who looked to be either around his age or a year older. Someone he didn't know! Maybe he'd go after him to try and make him one of his newest friends! But after he made sure Eun-ji was fine when she emerged from the waters. Tone's gaze shifted away from @Hanako Tone just as the boy shot him a withering glare. He managed to catch the tail end of the expression but didn't think much of it, thinking it was probably because he was worried about someone in the water. It had been a worrisome look, right? As Eun-ji spoke to him, Tone nodded. "Don't worry, I'll take care of them all." As Eun-ji went on to explain the natures of their injuries, Tone made mental notes about them. He'd be able to tell the nurses and interns at the hospital wing. Or wherever they were supposed to take them. The pink haired teen suddenly remembered something and reached into his pocket to produce something small and intricate. "Eun-ji! Before I forget, if I don't see you again for awhile, take this. I made it for you and thought it would look really good on you." Tone told her and reached out to place the necklace into Eun-ji's hand, using his fingers to curl her own around the item. "I'll be off now! See you later!" He said with a smile and then returned to where the trio waited for him. All three looked to be first years and were unfamiliar to him. They looked unsettled and traumatized. From their water experience. "Hey, I'm Tone. Don't worry, you're all going to be just fine. You can trust me! Focus on slow breathing, it'll help you a lot for now. Once you can breathe easily, I'll take you over to the infirmary." The pink haired teen told them. "Don't freak out, that'll just make things worse. I'll make sure nothing happens to you all until you get there." He tried to reassure them and gave them a bright and cheery smile to help lighten the mood. "Tell me, is this your first ball?" Tone asked, wanting to help them settle down. Tone crouched down next to one of the girls and placed a hand on her shoulder. "You good to walk with us?" He asked, hoping she could at least walk with them. As for the lone boy, @Rodney Hughes, the pink haired teen stood and put a hand on his shoulder too. "Take a slow, deep breath. Hold it for a second and then let it out slowly, it should calm you down a little. Can you walk with us?" Tone asked, to make sure his charges would be able to walk. It was around this time that he happened to see a familiar face. One that was slightly older but still looked familiar to him. Where... AH! "Ah! It's Figaro's owner! Your name was... Pi, right? Great to see you again! Although, it's a shame it had to be under these kind of circumstances." He said, raising his voice a little. Tone didn't see his cat around him though and he tilted his head to the side. "Wait, Pi. Did you bring Figaro with you? Or did you leave him somewhere safe beforehand?" Tone asked, hoping Figaro was doing well, since he hadn't seen him around the area. But maybe he hadn't come... |

Madison had been a bit more forgiving than Alyssea expected of this entire situation. After all, everyone could argue she had endangered them all by getting into the boat. The near-drowning terror she experienced was replaced with guilt. Alyssea hardly spoke when Madison told her she would be going to get blankets (or was it towels? Towels were a better choice). She didn't verbally acknowledge Landon and Helena when they reached the shore, but she gave them a tight smile and nodded at them. At least they were safe.

As for her date, she found him being tended to by someone she didn't know, but it was obvious she knew what she was doing. Alyssea didn't. First aid wasn't in her skill set and so she let them handle Rodney's condition.
What Alyssea didn't expect was for two people to suddenly walk up to her. And it wasn't just anyone. When did Raizel and Zach arrive at the ball? Alyssea had been here since the beginning and didn't see them around. Maybe they just arrived? The Hufflepuff could count on Raizel's Gryffindor traits to come save the drowning kids. Perhaps Zach tagged along. They also must've fallen into the lake as their clothes were dripping.
Alyssea raised an eyebrow. "When did you guys arrive? How long were you underwater for?"
She remembered the wand she'd been desperately clutching during the entire excursion with the beast that grabbed her. They would get a cold if they don't dry up soon; how long would it take for Madison to get the blankets?
Raising her wand, Alyssea quickly did the motion and said, "Aer Calidus."

Raizel took out her wand, casting Lumos to light up the way for her rowing companion. It had gotten a lot calmer, much calmer than before with little to no movements in those waters unlike before. The shore was within their reach and Raizel can't help but feel so relieved when she hopped off of the boat, missing the safety of being on land.
Her spell was still shining upon her companion to help him see where he is stepping once he decides to get off of the boat. "Nox." She extinguished the light from the tip of her wand, looking around and saw a familiar figure standing. "Look, there she is." Raizel gave Zach a tap on the shoulder before pointing towards Alyssea. She started rushing in, giving the Hufflepuff a wave and a smile once she was close.
"We just arrived… maybe just a couple of minutes ago." She will admit, she had lost track of time due to the following event that transpired. "And I fell off but quickly got back up so I wasn't in the water for too long. Zach wasn't there for too long either since I did manage to get him back up to the surface." She informed her. Then, the Hufflepuff casted a spell and it was enough to dry off their clothes which amazed her. "Woah! I should practice that more. Damn it, I could use it on you too. I can only cast Incendio if you prefer that." Of course she was joking, she is smart enough not to just cast that on someone even if it means drying them off. It might just hurt them. There's also the wind charm but that would probably just blow cold breeze and she wouldn't want Alyssea catching a cold now.
"You sure can swim though. We saw you swimming away earlier without even saying hi." While it might sound like she was disappointed that the girl had completely ignored them, she was just being playful. "That aside, what happened back there?" Hopefully, the Hufflepuff wasn't in those waters for too long like her and Zach.

Lanterns and Boat Rides
Thankfully, the boat Harmony and Flynn were sitting in did not tip, and the two Hufflepuffs safely reached shore. The same could not be said for everyone else on the lake, as Harmony turned to see what looked like every student who remained on the lake falling into the depths below, some popping back up with a gasp for air, but some remained underwater with a vague shimmer of fabric being the only visible indicator to anyone actually being there. Harmony gripped her lantern to her chest as a wave of fear for what could have happened, relief for what didn't, and guilt for her escape, washed over her.6 October 2023
The next few moments were spent staring wide-eyed as students resurfaced, dove back under for friends, jumped in from dry land, and continued to fall. The banquet looked blissfully unaware in the distance, and Harmony furrowed her eyebrows at the continuous lack of professor. People could get seriously hurt! But Harmony, as a First Year student, could contribute nothing helpful to the chaos. Even if everyone safely made it to shore, she didn't think anyone would willingly venture onto the lake again for a very long time. That left her with very few Ball options; a realization that had her instantly longing for her warm bed back in Plant Palace, and maybe a massive piece of parchment to dump the whole story of the night at her parents.
She looked forlornly at her lantern. She wouldn't even be able to keep it. So, with nowhere near the grandeur she'd imagined the boat would have, she reluctantly raised her arms and let the lantern drift off. Was she supposed to wish on it? She wondered. Nothing came to mind as she watched the lantern ascend. I wish… she didn't really have anything she wished for right at this moment, especially with the boat-tippings commanding most of her thoughts. I hope… the lantern slowly rotated until the gold “Flynn M.” faced her. I hope you'll be … okay.
Harmony looked back down at the lake, where it looked like the students who'd fallen in were, indeed, relatively okay and being helped out by older, more experienced students.
She turned to face the boy next to her, and after an unsure breath, hesitantly announced that she was going to bed. It was properly dark and cold, and as Harmony hurried off, drawing her cloak tighter around herself, she was reminded exactly why she didn't go to social events like this. A professor finally hurried past, led by a student, and Harmony pretended to wipe at tired eyes in an effort to conceal the rapidly building tears. She didn't even tip into the water! Why was she upset? She was sure the other students would much prefer revelations and underwhelming shoreline lanterns over whatever they had been through. Either way, she was going to give herself a solitary relaxing evening, in pajamas, warm and snuggly, and never again delude herself into believing a big party was worth it.

Lanterns and Boat Rides
Action: Getting into a boat and promptly falling off![]()
Shrieks and laughter from the Great Lake made Duvessa peer out of her dorm window every second. She was in her room, doing her favorite activity: sulking and practicing magic. But the lure of happiness and enjoyment from the grounds was too strong. She pulled on a jumper with a hood, not bothering to look festive.
Before she went off, she stopped. There was a dress code. And she could blend in. So, choosing an elegant, not showy off dress, she slipped out. The snow came with a start, but this time, she thought distantly, she was travelling in the boats alone. No shiny prince to save her this time.
She clambered in with unessecary noise and caught several looks on her. Look the other way, she thought crossly. Perching on the boat, she wondered if this was meant to be peaceful. It certainly was, in a way, if you got used to the rocking from the Great Lake (or was it the Squid? That remained unknown). Duvessa remembered her first ride, all cold and willing for it to end. This time, she was more prepared. She wasn't going to nearly topple in. Or topple in at all-
SPLASH.
The boat was nearly flung to one side, and sitting in it was unsuspected Duvessa. With a small cry, she fell into the watery depths of the silvery surface. Moments later, her pale fingers reached out to grab the boat, hair plastered onto her wet face and the unmistakable look of fury.
First a maze on fire, and now this. Did the balls of Hogwarts really have a cursed reputation?

Lanterns and Boat Rides
Axyen was curious as Daphne tried to explain how this 'Disney' was able to recreate magic, Daphne seemed to struggle trying to explain her point. Axyen waited patiently as Daphne tapped her chin in thought, after a little bit of waiting, Daphne eventually came up with an answer, she said that they built their own magic. Axyen already knew Muggles could not use magic, which is why he was confused to begin with, but when Daphne said they made their own type of magic Axyen thought he understood. So... maybe that means they build stuff that does something cool and then they call it 'magic'. Axyen thought to himself, that made enough sense to give Axyen a satisfactory conclusion. Axyen listened up as Daphne explained this 'rollercoaster' in much more detail. It was a machine created by Muggles made to move you around, it could even loop and flip you around just like a broom. Didn't exactly sound like Axyen's version of 'fun'. "That sounds. . ." Axyen paused to think of a word that described that machine. ". . .interesting." Axyen said after thinking for a few moments. So if Muggles can kind of replicate Broom Flight, does that mean they can make their own version of magic for literally anything and everything? Like a machine that can somehow levitate objects? Or set things on fire? But that was just silly, there had to be a limit on machines.... right? Axyen thought to himself, temporarily appearing to be zoned out before snapping back his focus on the real world. "So... Muggles and their machines... right?" Axyen said, thinking about how he would even ask his question. "With machines... can they literally create ANYTHING with machines?" Axyen asked, it felt like a dumb question. But he already asked, so it was too late to turn back now. He would simply have to wait for Daphne's answer and see what she had to say in response.
Daphne reminded Axyen that next Fall Ball they would finally be in their third year as Hogwarts students. Time truly did fly, it felt like no time at all and Axyen was already a second year student! That meant that they both would be able to go to Hogsmeade without any trouble. While Axyen already went to Hogsmeade(which was a trip that left him in constant anxiety for a little bit while he was there, it would be nice to go without risking any trouble at all. Of course he didn't want to tell Daphne or anybody else, it wasn't that he didn't trust her or his other friends, but it was never brought up, and it didn't seem like a good idea to casually just mention that. Word always seemed to go around at Hogwarts one way or another. "That means we both can get to Hogsmeade without trouble!" Axyen blurted out, Axyen instantly realized a flaw in his sentence the moment he said it. He felt that 'We will finally get to go to Hogsmeade!" would've been a much better statement in comparison. Now all Axyen could do was hope Daphne didn't catch his slip-up and try his best to act natural and as Muggles would say it, 'go with the flow'. At least that's what he heard anyways, he wasn't so certain if that was it's real meaning or not. Maybe it was normal, Axyen could imagine that any student could make it to Hogsmeade but there was always the fear of getting in trouble that turned most away. Somehow that 'most' didn't include Axyen, but the statement still felt suspicious. It still sounded like Axyen might've gone there at some point. All Axyen could hope was to not get caught and just let the conversation continue onto a different topic, this might've simply been another overreaction anyways. At least Axyen hoped so. Daphne said that they should just enjoy the current moment instead of thinking about the future. "Yeah, I agree." Axyen said, but he still wanted to know more about the future courses. He would need to select elective classes, how could he possibly choose? What if he wanted to pick all of them? How would that even work? Would it be possible to change an elective course once you already chose two? These thoughts swiftly ran through Axyen's mind. Axyen at heart knew what the top two elective courses he would choose, but he still wanted to participate in as many classes as possible, magic was truly a beautiful gift, and so it seemed especially important to Axyen that he learned as much of it as he could.
Daphne suddenly decided to try and guess what Axyen was painting on his lantern, one of her guesses was that Axyen's painting was related to dueling. "Hm, you're half-right about the dueling part." Axyen said while painting on the explosion effect, trying to add more layers and detail to it. "I want to try and guess what you're drawing... so I'll guess the castle of Hogwarts?" Axyen guessed, there was seemingly an endless amount of things to paint about, especially about past experiences and whatnot, so it seemed practically impossible to correctly guess what the other painting without a massive hint from the painter. Still, it was fun to at least try and guess what the other person was drawing. Arnold looked at Alduin in curiosity, confused on why the cat approached him. As soon as the cat tried to lick Arnold, Arnold thought the cat was trying to eat him, gave out a frightened squeak and rolled away.Mentioning@Daphne Sapphirus

Lanterns and Boat Rides
Land, precious solid land, Flynn had almost driven himself to exhaustion as he had heaved to get the boat back to shore, Flynn was sprawled out on the floor trying to catch his breath as he saw Harmony standing silently, observing the chaos that had unfolded during the night. The sights of the ball finally became realised as Flynn stood up and stood next to Harmony, matching her melancholic look back at the scene they had just escaped, the juxtaposing scenes of the quiet undisturbed banquet that had maintained it's soft glow in the mayhem sitting silently as if waiting for a mistress that would never arrive, opposing this was the lake, a cacophony of sights and sounds that disturbed the otherwise serene and peaceful night, the horrid splashing of the students still in the water seemingly helpless as they squirm and squeal in the water, the onlookers wailing for their friends some bravely throwing themselves in the water to save classmates and strangers alike.
Oh what a sight it was for the young Hufflepuffs who wished they could save the day, but this was no superhero story, at least not for them.
What broke the stillness was Harmony suddenly and silently released the lantern she had been holding so closely to her chest this whole time, while Harmony's gaze was still on her lantern Flynn retrieved his own from the boat, after inspecting for any broken parts, he lit the candle and slowly let the lantern drift into the air to meet Harmony's lantern in the sea of others, as the lanterns drifted off as a solemn remedy for all they had witnessed, Flynn marked a cross with his shoulders and chest, he wasn't a religious person but being so lost in his situation he turned to anything for any form of guidance, so there he wished, wishing for the safety of those in the lake, for his own safety... and for the safety and prosperity of Harmony, "...Amen".
Looking up from his lantern he hears Harmony say shes leaving for bed before turning and rushing back to the castle, "Harmony..." but he was too late his words couldn't reach her in time as he sees her moving off into the distance, after seeing the dangers that could be found in the lake Flynn couldn't imagine what other dangers could be around outside the castle, so, not wanting to risk the safety of his only friend Flynn decides to run after her, as they moved further from the lake the noises of chaos were replaced only by the crunching of the gravel beneath their feet, after passing a professor who was rushing in the opposite direction Flynn noticed he'd made little progress to getting closer to Harmony, man that girl can run Flynn thought to himself, nevertheless he only slowed when he saw the grand doors open as she rushed inside, the castle is safe... it's safe, Flynn breathed a sigh of relief as he recollected his breath before entering the castle as well looking for a soft bed and some silence
