2023/24, Stage 1 Hufflepuff vs Slytherin: Match 6

Well, you win some and you lose some.
Guin's flipendo knocked Julian unconsious, which meant she would only be facing two Hufflepuffs, not three. That was good. However, her partner was struck by spells from all three of their opponents, which must have hurt. Her current 1v2 situation was certainly not the best, but at least she knew what to expect from last year's stage 3.

There is roughly 19 hours until the deadline. I still need actions from Hufflepuff and remember to post!

In this round, the badger wanted to give everything he could offer, the chance to win this match. Hades executed the spell correctly, with such power that it allowed him to strike the target he had planned to do. He was pleased to see that it was not only his spell that had struck Monica, but also other spells from his team.

In this round he was not hit and it was a relief. But Monica and Julian this time finished being knocked out, worth a grimace on Hades' face. He had never seen anything like it as a duellist, two rivals out of game. There were only two Hufflepuffs and one Slytherin. Perhaps luck was quite on his side, and hopefully this would be the last round.

4th November 2023- Afternoon

It seemed after-effects and shock were being felt by both teams since their partners had fallen. All three duellists still standing would go for different spells, and yet, they would all miss. Guinevere would pull two amazing evades out of her hat, twisting and turning away from Hades Ventus and Emmas Incendio Duo like a pro. Hades in turn, as Guinevere cast her own Flipendo, would mirror his opponents skill, outmanoeuvring and outwitting the pain that the Knockback Jinx would create. A pretty uninteresting round, if Bea said so herself.

Emma's disappointment was great. She had honestly felt so good about the last round that she had assumed that Hades and herself would be able to win the match. But of course that was too much to ask it seemed. But on the more positive side, Emma forced herself to think, Hades had also managed to dodge Guinevere's spell. And there was another round which was another chance to win. Emma focused her energy on that (or at least tried to) rather than the fact her spell had missed. In the back of her mind, she couldn't help but think to herself she obviously needed more practice. Absent-mindedly she called out to her partner "Great job with the dodge! We've got this."

Two spells flew her way, which was what she had predicted. Obviously that was the case, since she was the only target. Guinevere surprised herself by pulling off two near perfect dodges, which was great, since both the spells the Hufflepuffs sent her way were not the most pleasant. In return, she cast her own spell, and even though it was successfuly produced, it didn't hit it's target. Neither did any of her lightning bolts. Ugh.

Hades' expression and the disappointment in him was quite impossible to ignore, as he was a little stupefied to see how Guinevere had managed not only to dodge his spell, but also that of his duel mate Emma. He started thinking if it was a matter of luck or if something was going wrong. And if so? What could Hades do to prevent it from happening again.

He grimaced with his eyebrows and looked at Emma, who spoke to him. He outlined a small smile “Still, let’s hope we can be able to avoid it again.” he muttered, biting his lower lip as he looked at Damion for a second. He was quite nervous. His mind returned to focus on the duel and Guinevre, thinking about the next moves.

4th November 2023- Afternoon

Thank god all the duellists seemed to snap out of whatever was holding back their concentration and accuracy. Both Guinevere and Emma were able to succeed in hitting their targets. Guinevere would spit out a powerful flipendo that Hades stood stock still for. Maybe he was just trying to watch his own flipendo hit? Bea wasn't sure but what she was sure was that it was his downfall. The spell wouldn't find its target instead finding the wall as Guinevere evaded. Emma, ever the loyal partner would fire her own spell, bright orange flames leaping from her wand onto Guineveres clothes, trying to sink beneath the skin. A rumbling and flash above announced the lightening, which came down onto the Hufflepuffs with a fury. Hades would be hit, and Bea winced. It seemed fate really did want to finish him off. Emma would be spared this round, only barely. Luck was indeed one her side.

Being the only one of her team standing currently, Guin knew she was inevitably going to get hit sooner or later. Nonetheless, she took a risk, producing a flipendo out of her wand and trying to hit Hades again right as she dodged one of his own spells. This time, her spell hit its target, and to her surprise, so did one of her lightning bolts. Knocking out two opponents in one match was definitely a first.
But there was no time to celebrate. Emma’s spell had unfortunately been too fast for her, hitting her duel clothes, and quickly she felt the alarming heat of the Incendio Duo reach her skin. She was still standing, though, that was what mattered. It wasn’t over until it was over.

Things seemed to be coming to a head, spells were flying, people were dropping and so far, Emma had not been hit. She knew that wasn’t likely to last especially now that Julien was out. Focusing intently on the only duellist remaining on the opponents side, she cast Incendio Duo. Thankfully the spell both shot out of her wand correctly and she must have focused correctly because it also hit Guinevere. She cheered, turning towards Hades only to see that they were hit by lightning. She had missed seeing the spell hit them but it didn’t matter, either way now it was only herself and Guinevere left standing. She hoped against hope that she would be successful in the next round.
