Pride come before the fall.... It would seem that perhaps stressed had snuck it's way into the arena. The stress of everyday life, the stress of her family.... things the young Prefect rather not think about, but whatever the cause, Monica could tell her head was not in the game.

Her spell missing its mark, and on top of that! The badgers were successful in one thing, getting Hui-ming out of the match....And then there were two.

Monica looked over to her remaining partner, who at least was able to cast a spell this round, "We got this." She said, bringing a smile to Monica's face. She narrowed her view back on the three across the way.... They were about to see that these snakes bite back.

4th November 2023- Afternoon


Last round was bad for the snakes, but this round seemed to favour them. Both Guinevere and Monica were successful in their casts, with Guinevere producing a mighty raincloud above the Hufflepuff team. The stormy bolts of power leashed within made Bea watch it with slight apprehension, but nevertheless, she would continue watching. As was her duty. Monicas' flipendo would just land. Just landing or not, it punched into Julian with vicious force, pushing the boy back.

Hufflepuff would try and get their own back, but really only Julian would be able to. His spell would land upon Monica with a whoosh! Clean, razorsharp wind blasted Beas' best friend. Monica was strong though and seemed able to handle it. Hades would also try and get a hit on Monica, but it wasn't to be. His wand had it out for him, backfiring onto the poor boy ad blasting him with the intended spell instead. Emma, it seemed, would not be able to help, but stand there in shock. Bea wasn't sure, but thankfully she wasn't hit from the chaos around her.

Just as Bea went to call the round, the bolts of lightening that were fizzling up above came crashing down to the ground, missing all three of the Badgers. What an end to the round. Smiling at the unleashed power, Bea let the duel continue.

Emma was happy when Hui-Ming fell, although she cringed slightly knowing it wasn't the most pleasant of experiences to be knocked out in a duel. The last time she had done so, she had awakened in the hospital wing and did her usual trick of...well crying. At times the emotional response frustrated her, but she was trying to learn to go with it and just let it out rather than trying to bottle the emotions up.

She didn't know what happened after that, her mind went blank for that round, only becoming aware when strikes of lightening hit their side. That made her jump, and come back to life. Gripping her wand tighter, she took a breath, preparing herself to cast once more. Her teammates had taken hits and she knew that she hadn't been very helpful last round, so she was determined to land her spell this time, hopefully doing a good amount of damage to the opposing side. This new way of duelling was chaotic and she needed to adjust the strategy she had learned from last year.

Hades already had a spell in mind and did not hesitate to do so. But seconds before performing his spell, a cloud had formed as they were on top of Hufflepuff’s group, causing him to have the misfortune that by performing the spell, Hades hit himself with his own spell. Wait, how? How was that possible? You could see in his face that he was perplexed, even confused.

No doubt this round was most interesting, but Hades was not pleased. It was the first time he had been hit with his own spell, something he wasn’t going to take very well later. You could see the frustration and anger in his expression. Maybe it was a good time to rethink and see what he could do. Hades bit his lower lip, thoughtful.

Last round was a mess, but this time, they managed to get back on track. Guin's stormcloud successfully was produced out of her wand; the lightning disapointingly not hitting anyone, but at least her partner Monica's flipendo found it's target. "Nice cast," she said to her. This duel was getting interesting. The new 3v3 mechanics were really quite different from the old 2v2 type.

4th November 2023- Afternoon

This round was a blood bath, if blood could be split on the duelling piste. Everyone except for Monica, who seemed inflicted with the same condition Emma had been struck with last round, just went for it.

Hades, Emma and Guinevere would go for flipendo, each hitting their mark and sending the careening. Julian would add a little twist with Ventus, sending Monica another great gust of wind. Guinevere and Julians spells seemed to be the last straw for their targets.

Bea sucked in a sharp breathe as she watched her best friend crumple to the ground from the onslaught of spells. Julian, who had been lucky o cast his spell out just before getting hit, also crumpled to the ground like a sack of potatoes. Bea winced at the two prone forms on the piste. She called time once all the spells were clear so the two duellists could be carried off the piste before beginning. She called out, eyeing off both teams, "Alrighty duellists! The beginning of the end! May the best team win!"

As she cast Flipendo, determined to make up for her previous blunder, Emma's face scrunched together with the amount of effort she was putting into to focus on both the spell and her target, Monica. She watched impatiently as the spell danced from her wand, striking Monica, and she saw that both of her teammates spells also hit their mark, seeming to knock Monica right off of her feet. She watched for a moment and the other girl seemed out.

Now there was only one left. Grinning, Emma looked to her partners, only to bite her lip as she realized that Julian must have been hit. Looking at Hades slightly nervously, she gripped her wand tightly before unclenching her fist, turning to face the last remaining opponent, Guinevere. It was really going to be a battle till the end.
