Quidditch Gryffindor v Hufflepuff - Fall 2023

While defending their hoops as she should as a Keeper, Ash watched how all players from both houses flying fiercely in front of her like aggressive wasps fighting against each other. It was more like a battlefield than a normal sport game. Well, perhaps it was because it included magic, so it turned out to be very different from the Muggle's sport world. Ash frowned when the Hufflepuff Keeper decided it was a good idea to elbowing their Gryffindor seeker just to make Elena fail finding the Snitch, instead of defending their own hoops. Luckily, she got instant karma and was punished to do a penalty lap in the next round. However, Ash didn't have the luxury of time because she immediately noticed the incoming "danger". The new Gryffindor Keeper's heart beat so fast the moment she saw one of the Hufflepuff chasers, who obviously looked older and more experienced than her, flew right towards the Gryffindor hoops. Howard White was his name if Ash remembered correctly, and she already heard about him for being a veteran Chaser on the Hufflepuff team.

Oh, no!

First goal, second goal, third goal...this was indeed not looking good for Gryffindor that the Hufflepuff chaser single-handedly scoring for his team in ease. Ash knew she was still a newbie Keeper herself who just had her first Quidditch game, but knowing her own current inexperience was what made her not wanting to give up. Remembering her training, she squeezed her eyes in order to focus on the opponent's movement and this time, using one of the Keeper's moves she learned during her training, Ash finally caught his last scoring attempt and stopped the Hufflepuff chaser's scoring record. "And a stunning save by Hazelwood." Even though she wasn't able to stop the last three scoring attempts, but one was still better than none. Hearing the loud cheering around her after she successfully defended one of their hoops, she smiled proudly to herself and was now ready for anything.

Well, Haley had hoped for a good start to the Quidditch season but the pitch turned into a battlefield. Haley didn't manage to catch the Quaffle, what's more, she could see the Bludgers flying back and forth in the corner of her eye. She could see Pax getting hit hard and out of the game. "Damn." The redhead whispered to herself and tried to refocus on her part and the strategy. Howard was a big thorn in her side, he managed to snatch the quaffle and score too often. Haley had to change her game if she wanted to do anything for the team.

Knocked off broom. Knocked off broom twice.. no thrice? What the hell was happening. The commentator kept bringing worse and worse news. Alma, Tesla and Ethen. That was nearly half their first-string team. Her shoulders pinched upwards in a tense motion. Granted, her she was somewhat relieved when their losses weren't all in vain. Pax and Ethan of the Gryffindor team, both beaters if she could recall also plummeted from the skies. Beaters were an essential role, and to have knocked both the first strings was amazing. Then again, Ethen was argueably their star player, that and Howard who seemed to not take no as an answer as he scored goal after goal with the quaffles. It was hard to tell the outcome from the first round. It could go either way, and that wasn't always a good thing to think let alone say. Swallowing once, she'd clear her throat and pump her fists as her teammates continued to push themselves to their limit.

The moment the match began, Atlas began her offensive. While guarding the goals was always an exciting challenge, she would never reject a more aggressive approach to kick off a game. Wanting to give Ethen as much time as he needed, she went straight for the Gryffindor seeker.

Knowing how chaotic and brutal the games usually became, Atlas wasn't afraid to get a little physical in her tactics. Unleashing a few close and quick elbows, Atlas tried to disorient the other player. But of course, the referee had something to say about her tactics.

Cursing to herself as she was called out for a penalty lap, Atlas tilted her head back before flicking a glance back to Elena. "Don't worry, I'll be right back," she taunted with a smirk before diving into her penalty lap. She knew she had to make the lap as quickly as possible. Not only for her goal posts but to be there if her team needed her.

While entering her lap, Atlas gasped and clenched her fingers over her broom handle as she watched a bludger remove Ethen from his broom. She hated being unable to dive in and save him but knew he was tough enough to take the hit. All she could now was ensure she was focused and ready to help her team after the tough start.

Keepers Catch
10% chance to automatically block an attempt to score a goal as long as the Keeper is in the goal area. If an attempt to score has been blocked through this effect, the Keeper may as a free action hurl the quaffle at the opponent team in an attempt to injure a player of their choice (it would be recovered with a quaffle grab action) and treated like a bludger or pass the quaffle to a team mate. This must be declared by the Keeper if either of these free actions are to be utilized.

Evasive Maneuvers
Harder to hit on average, 10% on auto-dodge chance that anything that targets this wizard automatically misses. This is rolled separately from the attack roll.

Despite lounging about in comfort in a lazy sprawl atop the blanket on the bench, broom resting on his chest, Elsian hadn’t so much as ‘rested his eyes’ since the game began. Eyes glued to the sky in a weak, if well meaning, attempt to keep up with everything happening in the game. Perhaps unsurprisingly that most consisted of watching the seekers trying to locate and catch the snitch, but from time to time the boy found his eyes drifting to watch the rest of his and the opposing team.

It was always hard not to wince when someone got knocked off their broom. But it would be a lie to say he wasn’t at least the smallest bit pleased when Gryffindor was able to knock out 3 of Hufflepuff's members to their own 2 knocked out players.

On the other hand having both Pax and Ethan wasn’t that great…

Madison hunted Hannah down. She knew that the Gryffindor girl was a great player, therefore getting her out of the game would help Hufflepuff's chances of staying in the lead. As she kept in pursuit of Hannah, Madison remembered her dad telling her something once when she was around 8 and he was teaching her some of his old Quidditch tricks. Play dirty if you have to Madi. People will underestimate you because of your age, don't let them think for one second that you're weak. You're a strong player sweetheart, show them what you're made of. Madison smiled as she got ready to do her penalty lap. If helping her team meant she had to do a penalty lap, so what, Madison was having so much fun in her first Quidditch game, the penalty lap was worth it. She did feel bad that Hannah was now out of the game, however now, at least the playing field was a little more even. Madison did feel a little bad, considering that she and Hannah had met at a ball earlier this year, however it was only Quidditch, she was sure they could easily make up later and chat at some point

The girl continued flying until Madison Bennett, a girl she had met at a ball. They had talked about Quidditch so she wasn't surprised she was in the Hufflepuff Quidditch Team.

The girl fell off her broom because of Madison, but this was Quidditch, so she wasn't mad at her. She knew she would still continue rooting for her team. Still, her record for "most games a player has fallen off a broom" had expanded.

With a few change in players for both teams, they seemed to slow down. Howard scored a few more goals but was contested with the quaffle by the Gryffindor chasers. The snitch still remained evasive as ever from the eyes of either of their seekers. Instead, another Gryffindor fell from the sky. This time, without a Badger accompanying them. It seemed their numbers were quickly evening out once again. It would be a close game, that was for sure. Annie's leg began to bounce, up and down, a nervous habit that had joined her the moment she first step foot on the Quidditch Pitch. Sucking in a sharp breath she'd continue to listen to the noises and the announcer's voice, clueing her into the game and where they stood. The match had only just begun.
