It was cold and wet, the perfect conditions for a broom race. Wyatt readied his broom with a small nod to Colin. The Basilisks had a lot to prove here, mostly that their last near-win wasn’t luck. Wyatt wasn’t worried though. They were going to win or doom the whole track trying, Vale would make sure of it.

Right after the race is started, both of the teams took some offensive acts. Hugh Lowe, the biggest guy in the race attempted to throw some projectiles at Ava Winchet. The poor girl seemed not ready for this attack and couldn't help taking damage from it. Maverick Castle from Gryffindor also tried something. He cast a spell at Vale Ashwood and made the co-captain sneeze. On the other hand, Wyatt Starkey and Colin McCoire from Slytherin cast some spells that Zach himself wasn't familiar. But they didn't succeed in casting them. Zach with his omnicular looked at them and said, "Projectiles from Hugh Lowe succeeded in injuring Ava Winchet. Maverick Castle also succeeded in casting his Steleus at Vale Ashwood while Colin McCoire could evade the same spell from Fang Hui-Ying."

Della seemed to be distracted by something that made her couldn't fly to the next unit while all the racers flew their broom forward. "The challenge that have to face first is narrow passageways. Let's see how they passed this," Zach said. Everyone seemed to be able to pass the obstacles except Maverick Castle and Ava Winchet. "Maverick Castle hit the passageways! And... Oh no!!!", Zach screamed as he saw Ava Winchet fell of their broom with no stamina. "Ava Winchet is injured so bad." The boy couldn't hide his worried looks, but he had to continue this race.

Maverick was furious. It had started well for him, why did it have to go this way now? He did not care about accidentally bumping into something, the second year was positive no harm was done. But why were some people so far ahead and he was stuck here? Certainly it was not because they were riding Ducati and KTM bikes while he was stuck riding a Honda or a Yamaha, this was his trusted Firebolt.

And there it was, first player out of the race. He couldn't deny feeling a little guilty towards her. The poor girl must have, like most others racing today, been looking forward to this race for a while now. But sometimes this was just the way the cookie crumbled. In order to make sure more of his team would manage to make it out alive, he had to do some damage here and there to the opposing team. They'd be fine, he thought to himself. Thery ought to consider this an advanced class in evading projectiles or something. It's how he trained Serena after all. And she was an ace!

It seemed Della had been a tad distracted though. He hoped she'd be able to catch up to them soon. Seeing as they could use all the help they can get in surviving races like these. Not that Hugh ever really felt concerned about his own health or survivability. At the rate his body was growing stronger, he felt he could withstand the pressure of the deep oceans or something. Like a giant whale bombarding the rest of them with their entire massive body. "WOOOOHOOO!" The giant roared whilst grinning. The game was on, babay!

And with an explosion of action the race began! Spells were hurled from both sides --- one or two even hit! Alas, Colin's casting wasn't one of them as the older flyer he cast at dodged his hex. And as usual, Hugh seems to have pulled up an entire forest and thrown it at Winchect. There was no love lost between the two Snakes and Colin smirked as the team's newest racer plummeted to her death, splatted by the tree.

Out of the corner of his eye he spotted some incoming Gryffindorkian wandwork. Oof! Vale got zapped by that wank Maverick, Lily's friend, and Colin heard her sneeze. And there was much snot flying. And the other --- Ying! Hah! She tried to fling a spell at Colin! Colin tilted to one side. "Good luck with that, Fang!" he called over his shoulder.

Colin turned his body slightly and caught Ying's eyes. He winked at her. He smiled and blew her a kiss!

"YOOOOOOOOOOOOWOOOOOOO!!!" he howled as he careened through the narrow passageways! Sometimes he liked to almost scrape up against the sides; sometimes he liked to wiggle from side to side! Today, Colin decided to drift into the turns and enjoy the ride!

His spell didn’t quite work, but there could always be another. For now, Wyatt decided he shouldn’t be distracted by the minor disappointment. This was surely something to look back on and reassess later. Wyatt looked ahead, continuing along the track. There were some tough obstacles ahead, and he tried not to worry about just how dead he could be if he unsuccessfully avoided one.

And it finally started, her first time at the real fighting scene. Because lets be honest, that was a real battle of speed and dexterity! As soon as she moved forward all thoughts about what happened in the last race were completely gone for her mind, while her entire focus and attention was at the challenges up ahead.

The wind was blowing on her face making it harder to see but she was used to it by now, after all those times training with her team. Through the corner of her eye Ying noticed something huge had been thrown with considerable force. Looking at her side she saw the new Slytherin racer being knocked out from her broom and lose her senses. The young Gryffindor grimaced at the sight, but then felt relieved that she wasn't in her place. Thank goodness Hugh was a lion and her teammate!

Looking up ahead she felt it was her time to try and cause some more trouble and damage to the snakes. Colin was right in front of her and she would definitely prefer to know he was behind her. So she took her wand from its holster and aimed at the Slytherin boy, "Steleus!" She uttered. But Colin was fast, he must have notice she was about to cast a spell before she was able to finish the incantation."Good luck with that, Fang!" He called to her, turning his gaze towards the place she was flying, almost reaching his side. She sent him a mischievous smile in response, but soon her expression changed as he decided to wink and blow her a kiss. "Idiot!" She swore under her breath and clenching her jaw, "It was you who got lucky this time, McCoire! Don't get used to it!" She replied back to him.

Vale's words would have been a cause of worry to the typical busybody. However, to Xailah, they brought a much needed smile to her face. "Oh please, you are too kind." As weird as the younger girl and her choice of phrase was (a point Xailah easily dismissed, finding instead a sense of kinship with her peer), there was something nice about it. Maybe even sweet. "And may your reign of terror be long and fruitful. I have no doubt the universe will cower at your excellence." She grinned back at the Ashwood girl. Momentarily, she would peek at the rest of Slytherin's lineup, her eyes falling on June Selwyn. Ah, that's right. She was the new captain of the team. The blonde had always come across as a mild-mannered little thing, so seeing her paired with such a... spontaneous individual such as Vale, was truly a humorous sight. Nevertheless, congratulations were in order for Selwyn too.

"Hail, Selwyn." The lioness would dip her head like she had done for Vale, in a ceremonious gesture. "So you fancy yourself a captain?" The corners of her mouth would lift playfully. "Quite the achievement, I say. You best keep miss Ashwood on a preferably loose leash. I look forward to seeing what you both have in store for us." She'd turn with a wave to rejoin her lions, her fingers twinkling at the air. This was going to be a good race. She could feel it.

The newest cub seemed lost in his own little world- an observation that induced a light chortle from the eldest Gryffindor. She shook her head, and looked at Ying- who was still a new member herself, although she had been captain for a few months now. This would be the girl's first time flying with her pride in a official race. Xailah adored the spunk her junior brought to the team; she still had that bedazzling enthusiasm, despite her first race as captain being less than subpar. The metamorph still thought about that race from time to time, and how cruelly funny the conclusion had been. Hopefully Ying didn't beat herself up over something that was beyond her control.

Xailah's eyes narrowed in amusement at Ying's determination and Hugh's banter. "Now, now, Lowe, we want to save some of them for the next race. If you must maim them, do so gently." She teased, before adjusting herself on her broom (gritting slightly, as soreness from the forest escapade was beginning to set in) to face Ying. "Are you excited? I'm very glad you can finally fly with us. Hopefully this will go better than our last race; that miasma was most foul." Xailah recalled with a grimace.

With the signal up, the race would start. In an instant, the racers shot into the sky. It wouldn't take long for things to escalate- Slytherin were a trigger-happy bunch, which, in a way, added to their charm. Gryffindor wasted no time in matching their discord. Hugh certainly didn't, anyway. Xailah didn't know what the hell he threw at one of the Slytherin racers, but it clocked her hard enough to turn her lights out. Hugh's arm would never fail to amaze her. The metamorph would manage to pull ahead through the sudden onslaught of spells, slung between lion and serpent alike. In fact, she'd find herself right next to Vale Ashwood, with June Selwyn not far behind. This observation would make Xailah realize they were one racer short. What had happened to Della?
