She could swear it was just yesterday when she volunteered to be a referee on a 3v3 match this summer. And here she was again — unable to resist, moderating a match. Ruby was here again, Opeila was also grouped with her, and she noticed Eun-ji being on the list of duellists as well. Also, Hanako — one of the Snakes she supervised a practice duel of, not long ago (or actually long ago?). Others were familiar, she knew the names, she knew the faces, but she could not express any particular feelings towards them.

She rubbed her neck with the palm of her hand to swiftly amplify her voice (casting Sonorus).

"I know everyone is already tired, but this one should be really interesting one," she started calming down the crowd, "Welcome Hanako Tone, Opeila Winters and Ruby Cazares on one side, representing the Viridian Vipers from Slytherin!" she waited for the duellists to come up onto the stage before proceeding: "And on the other side: Cassius Eden, Damion White and Eun-ji Lee Hunt representing the Murder of Merlin from Ravenclaw!"

She rubbed her neck again to "disable" the amplification (casting Quietus).
"Do not kill each other," she said the same phrase she started her previous match.

She did not proceed with more preparations and just got down from the stage and cast the green sparks into the air with her regular shout: "Begin!"

What the hell was her current luck with teams? To be fair, the one duel she had only with Bridget had been amazing, but years of almost only duelling with Dmitri Jones and now Hanako Tone wore her patience thin.
At least Jones pulled his own weight, but Tone seemed to fall quickly. And it wasn't only the two of them, luckily Ruby was also there.

The three Ravenclaws they faced were mostly unknowns. Opeila had successfully duelled Eun-ji before, but she didn't know the two boys well. She had seen them in class but other than that didn't pay much attention to them over the years.

Upon entering the stage, Opeila was pleased by the absence of that hindering pink feather boa the Slytherins had worn to the last duel. She had mostly gone along with it, but not been too excited. It was back to normality. "Good luck...", she would say to her teammates- more in Ruby's direction- and drew her wand.

Damion was happy to be back on the dueling team. A part of him was excited for the duel. A part of him was hoping that it would have been with either Kim or Hades. When the teams were announced, he didn't mind fighting against the Green house. He was hoping at the end of this duel his house would be the winner. He was going to do his best.

"Best of luck!!" He said turning to his teammates. He was hoping this little encouragement would help his team. He smiled at his team mates. This would be the first time he would duel with more than one more person on his team. Usually the duels were 2 vs 2 but this time it was 3 vs 3.

A new academic year meant a new duelling tournament. Coming off a victory in the Summer Games, Cassius was feeling confident. Moreso because he was teamed up again with Eun-ji who he thought he synchronized well with during that match. Joining them was Damion White who Cassius admittedly did not know too well. His unfamiliarity with faces was not confined to those within his own house. Two of the Slytherin opponents were also in his class but he did not know them well either. He really had some socializing to do this upcoming year.

Having been held back a year, he fell out of contact with most of his classmates from his original class. Now that he was back with them though, it was a goal to reconnect with people. After duelling, that is. Socializing could come later. Right now it was time to fight.

Cassius took his position on the stage, readied his wand, and gave his teammates a reassuring grin. "We've got this."

Well, this is a bit awkward. When he starting making it an unapologetic habit of flirting with the opposing team, he never expected any of them to go further than just mindless banter on the duelling stage. And to make matters worse, it was someone that had a place in his heart. Well, not a special one at least, as Hanako frequently reminds himself. For the first time ever, Hanako was not looking forward to just pew pew-ing the Ravenclaws. For they had Eun-Ji Lee Hunt as their teammate.

This discomfort wasn’t meant to be seen, heard nor sensed. But from experience, Eun-Ji was rather good at just cutting all his bs and seeing, hearing and sensing what he was trying to hide. His behavior during the duel was thought over again and again. It took the majority of his attention that he didn’t even care all that much that his own teammates would mildly shrug if he got ko-ed in the 1st round, if they were in a good mood. Not that he blamed them.

Despite all the thinking he still managed to convince himself Eun-ji was nothing special. Regardless, anything he did felt like the wrong choice. Ignore Eun-ji and focus on that cutie Damion? Focus on Eun-ji and risk a chance (that definitely was not possible) of feeling guilty? Just make the bold decision to actually behave during the duel?

He let out a low whistle, with his usual smirk as he glance at the 3 Ravenclaws. Against his will, his gaze accidentally lingered on Eun-Ji for a moment longer.

No quips, just a simple whistle to show he liked what he was seeing. And he just happened to have a favourite, evident to those who was observant. Although Hanako himself was unwilling to admit anything.

This was going to be a long duel. He was torn between hoping this ended sooner than later for him.

Eun-ji would be lying if she said she was looking forward to this duel. Even though she won her first one, she still wasn't quite used to the 3 against 3 scenario and then there was also the fact that she would be facing Hana today. The young witch wasn't sure how to feel about that ever since she saw his name on the same rooster. Even as she was walking to the piste, her emotions jumped all over the place.

At least, she was paired with Cass. The new captain of their team and the person she was paired with for her summer duel as well. They seemed to be working rather well together so it was reassuring to have him by her side again. Of course, she also knew Damion. They were in the same classes and they met several times outside of that as well. She even got to meet his friend at Opeila's and Kim's ball but that was about it. They weren't friends by any means.

Indeed, out of the five people present, her roguish opponent was the most familiar person to her. She had fun last time they duelled but back then, she didn’t really know him. Now she did and while she’d never admit it aloud, she didn’t want to see him get hurt, let alone be the one to inflict the pain. Unfortunately, it didn’t matter what she wanted. Eun-ji was here to represent her team and she would never let them down due to her personal feelings. Besides…it was not actually such a big deal. She was just overthinking again. Who cares if he gets knocked out? People got knocked out in duels all the time…he was not special…not at all.

Hearing Hana's whistle as she finally took a stand on the piste only made Eun-ji raise her eyebrows for a moment. An expression, he was far too familiar with at this point. "Yeah... Let's do our best." She encouraged her teammates and politely bowed to her opponents. And if her eyes lingered on the raven-haired boy at the other side of the piste for a little bit longer than intended? Well, she would never admit it.

Ruby was not happy. She was paired with two fifth years, facing a group of three more fifth years—which should perhaps be considered a good thing, given that the year she had over them might give her an advantage. But she was just bothered by it. Was she not thought good enough to be with the highest years now? It also meant that she wasn’t on a team with Dmitri—while she would never admit to something like missing having him as a partner, it was going to be a strange feeling to adjust to duelling alongside new people, considering that all of her official duels had been with him as a teammate. Regardless of her dissatisfaction with the situation, though, she had a job to do. Climbing the stairs to the piste, she eyed her opponents with thinly veiled disdain, chin tilted upwards. Her voice was cold as she spoke to her teammates, “Let’s make this quick.”

The cannon-like incantation barrage was something that was new and specific to the three versus three duels.

Cassius threw some wind towards Ruby and Opeila — Ruby gracefully dodge, while Opeila was blown away a little bit into disorientation.

Right after that Eun-ji also threw a few blindfolds at the same targets — Ruby dodged it again, while Opeila didn't. Again. So dark cloth tenderly carressed her eyes into darkness.

What followed after — in unison the whole Slytherin team displayed their starter. A barrage of three Flipendos went straight towards Eun-ji and... all three landed just nicely to knock her done for good.

Meenauh watched a bit shocked (not quite, considering that's how Rose in her own duel was 'removed' as well). Before she managed to stop the duel, Damion sent a brief petrification and hit Hanako just fine. As the body of the male Slytherin dropped onto the stage, Meenauh called a halt to the duel and requested transportation of Eun-ji.

Two versus three now.
What a nice start. Definitely a game changer was this three vs three.

The duel began, with spells simultaneously being flung by all duellists. There wasn’t much time to think, instinct guiding her as she dodged the two spells that headed her way. Too easy. The Slytherins then proceeded to all hit their target at once, causing the girl to fall to the ground. It was a brutal move, yes, but incredibly effective. Ruby couldn’t help but laugh at how simple it had been to reduce the opponents’ numbers like this. “I thought that would be a little harder,” she commented mockingly, glancing at her teammates. It seemed they hadn’t fared quite as well with evading the attacks, though, which elicited a small hum of disapproval. Well, neither of them were in critical condition, they would surely be fine soon. Her gaze drifted back to the Ravenclaw boys, watching for what they would do.

Sometimes it felt like hit or dodge was a choice. It certainly felt like one now, when Meenauh signaled them to start. Opeila's heart was racing when she focused on Eun-ji only, knowing that spells could be hitting her from three sides in a moment.
And spells hit her, two of them, but not before she watched the Ravenclaw get hit by three that knocked her clean out. Then the piece of cloth wrapped around her head, leaving her in darkness.
