Kyle knew something was immediately off today, he could feel it in his stomach. He could see it in the way the rain seemed to trickle down the windows like tears, sorrowful for a reason Kyle hadn't realized yet, but would soon find out. Kyle's spirits went up slightly when he saw his owl carrying a large package and a letter, did his parents send him something? His siblings all on looked Kyle in question and curiousity. The Diaz family was big on equal treatment and no favoritism, so seeing that Kyle was the only one to get a package from their parents was odd. Kyle and hi siblings started to conjure crazy things that could be in the package. Was he in trouble? Kyle decided first to look at the letter, I mean the package would make more sense then right?

Kyle immediately recognized his father's handwriting on the front, being the Daily Prophet Editor he had amazing penmanship. Kyle carefully opened the letter, releasing the paper from the seal that had been placed onto the back of the envelope. For some reason Kyle's stomach started to grow tighter, as if he could sense the tragedy about to unfold, his hands trembled as he pulled out the crisp paper, unfolding it once more and it read....
Dear Kyle,
I apologize profusely that you must learn the truth like this. I wish it had been a different way, in different circumstances, but yet I cannot hide from you no longer the guilty and regret only shread me to pieces and now I have no choice but to reveal the choice to you. Kyle, my beloved son, your mother is dead....

Before you start to question, or wonder how, I must tell you that Joaquin, Alessia, Amelia, Chiara, Henry, David, Romeo, Francia, Casey, and Luna's mother is very much alive, the mother you have learned to call your own but alast is not your biological mother.

I'm sad to say you were the gift given to me through a sin, my infidelity and unloyalty was what brought you into the world. You are a miracle we all told you that, but not because you came from Mamma, you must remember after Luna, Mamma couldn't bear anymore children due to medical problems from having so many. You must also realize that you and Luna are only a few months apart, an impossible task for one woman. You are a miracle as I was given you, a beautiful gift, a beautiful little boy.

I met your mother in a book store, we shared a rather interesting conversation, she was odd in a way that made me curious, something I had ever seen before. I was drawn to her strangeness, passion, stubborness, and a strong will, which I see in you everyday. I did indeed love her, but what I did was wrong, everything I have great regrets. Mamma forgave me, which I do not deserve til this day, I caused pain to both Mamma and your mother who had no idea of my martial status. The truth of your birth became the family's secret, we kept you on your mother's wish because she though you would grow happily with lots of family and friends who could support you emotionally and financially.

Your mother was a Half-Blood, so like your siblings you are a Half-Blood. Your mother died last week in a drowning when trying to save a child in disastrous weather, which I was immediately notified of. I am with all my heart and soul very sorry to you, because of my infidelity, my procrastination, fear, and dishonesty I have made you lose the chance to meet your mother, the funeral for her will held durin Christmas break, so if you want to go to pay you respects you may do so. I again apologize deeply and am saddened.
Sincerely,
Your Father, Leonardo Diaz

Before Kyle had even finished the letter his eyes had welled up, his tears decorating the paper just as the rain did the windows. His brown eyes that were now an aching red met the eyes of his other siblings, they knew. Before the could try to comfort him or utter apologies, Kyle stood up abruptly pushing over a couple items on the table in the process.
"Ragazzi, lo sapevate tutti! You guys all knew!" The tears could be heard, lacedwthin his voice. "Mi fidavo di te... Come hai potuto?I trusted you... How could you?"

Before the could respond Kyle grabbed the package and ran with it as fast as his legs could carry him, he felt weak and everything hurt. He always knew that something was always strange in his family, the constant extra gestures he had noticed, out of pity he almost felt, but never could explain why. It all made sense now, why they tend to leave him out, why he never felt like a whole but a partial.

The the great lake he had run to, the dak waves the reminded him of his own hair, the hair that no one else he shared, within that package laid photos upon photos of his mother's his reall mother.

The betrayal and sadness was overwhelming, the rain soaked him to his core and all he coul do was scream all his emotions out with the ambience of the downpour, he screamed his song of sorrow out, he had found that the woman he had learned to call his mother was not his, and he was not hers. He sang a story so sad, that even the lakes stomach churned. He felt the letter in his hand crumble and waste away with the rain, as did he onto the cold wet grass. At this moment he felt the Loneliest.

It could be said that Astra was nosy, yes, but she would refute the claim to her dying day. In her words, she was "a magnet for trouble and I fully embrace it." Which would be true.

It could also be said of Astra that she should get her nose out of a book lest she miss all the action. Which would be doubly true, seeing as this morning she was missing quite the commotion between an unusually large group of kids, who, if she were paying attention, she would notice all had a similar look about them.

But no. The Hobbit was far too important. It demanded all her attention.

It was a rainy day. Astra had a small mental war. To read or to play in the rain? That is the question. And a difficult one for the eleven year old Slytherin.

A sudden influx of people in the castle decided for her, however, and she put her book in her room and tossed on her raincoat. Thank you, Mum. Astra shuddered to think she had almost forgotten the essential article.

And off she was! She ran through the rain, hopping in puddles with her black rubber boots, her hair becoming soaked as her hood flew off again and again. Astra was not in the mood to care, however.

Through her running and leaping, she reaches the great lake to be met with a song. A gut-wrenching song of loneliness and despair and heartache. Great Scott! Oh shut up brain.

She made her way over to the source of the song and saw a boy with wavy dark hair hanging in limp, wet strands, much like her own was, she figured. Astra tossed her now brown-looking hair into a ponytail as she knelt down next to the boy. His eyes were full of anguish.

Astra didn't quite know what to do. She felt an inexplicable pull to offer her help. Why? Why would she help him? She had never seen the boy in her life.

Help. Now.

"Hey, hey, are you all right? she asked softly, reaching out to lay a hand on his shoulder. Astra hesitated, remembering how some people didn't like to be touched when they were upset. "Do you need anything?"

The paper crumbled in his hands as he sat on his knees on the cold wet grass. His hair stuck to his face like glue and his eyes scanned the wet paper once again as if there would be a disclaimer at the end, that it was all just some sick joke.... But there was none, Kyle's lungs and heart stung, from the heartbreak and the intensity he had put into song a few moments ago...

Suddenly there was a light, almost hesitant touch on Kyle's shoulder, he looked up slowly, meeting dark blue eyes of a red-headed girl. Though the rain was loud he heard her soft words as clear as day.
"Hey, hey, are you all right?.... Do you need anything?"

Kyle looked back at the letter and the box within his hands, the tears only welled up inside of him as if he was reliving the moment of learning the truth.
"I'm fine..." He said choking back a sob, his voice heavily laced with his Italian accent. "Non è niente...It's nothing..."
He let the sound of the rain consume everything around him for a second, before standing up abruptly, as he gazed into the dark waters of the lake.... It was like the called him, it was a weird sort of comfort, knowing that the water was stirring as much as he was, he dropped the letter and box on the ground.
"In realtà... Ho solo bisogno di nuotare... Actually... I just need to swim..." Kyle said giving a small quick half-smile, but it wasn't directed to her as he gazed in a daze. He walked over slowly to the lakes edge, before turning to face his back to the waters. He let himself fall back, as if it was a trust fall which he knew no one would catch him. Kyle was plunged into the icy cold waters of early October, not deathly cold but enough to give you a bit of a shiver. All of it happened so fast, one second he had been on his knees on the grass the second he was swimming around in the lake.

The girl was left on the shore with the letter and the package full of photos....

Astra was floundering. Her concern for the boy raised as he looked up at her with tearful eyes and sounded like he was struggling to speak without breaking down. He spoke in Italian, something Astra had only dabbled in briefly, but she was able to piece together the gist of what he was saying. He was going to swim.

"I don't- I'm not sure that's the best idea," Astra said, reaching out again as he stepped up to the lakeshore, rising to her feet as he turned. "Wait-"

But she was too late. The boy splashed into the freezing cold water. Astra ran up to the rippling water, the toes of her sneakers on the edge of the waterline.

Before she reached the edge, however, she had caught a glimpse of a paper and an envelope. She didn't mean to snoop, really, she didn't. Perhaps if I understood his situation better then I could help him.

With one eye on the Great Lake, she scanned the letter, written in a font similar to her mother's handwriting. Ah, so his name is Kyle.

The letter was long, but Astra was a fast reader. In a matter of forty-five seconds, she had devoured the page's contents. Her blue eyes nearly popped out of her sockets as she read the bombshell need this "Leonardo Diaz" had dropped on poor Kyle. She caught sight of an image, of a beautiful woman. Already she could remember the boy's face and relate it to the gorgeous creature staring up at her from this immortalized moment.

Setting everything down, Astra drew flush to the lakeshore, looking out for any signs of Kyle, of either distress or life depending on how many times he had come up by now.

Kyle swam deep in the lake, he wasn't sure if the students were even allowed to do this, but he didn't care, he needed it. Inside of him it felt like he was on fire, his stomach stirred with so many emotions whilst the water around him was chilling and cold... It was comforting, he felt as if all his burning emotions were pulled away with the current. All he saw was deep emptiness of blue, which contradicted his mind overflowing with questions, he focused on the barely visible gradient of light filtering through the water.

He knew that the light would be more visible if it was not raining, Kyle knew he couldn't stay under the water forever, even though it took him away from his problems and the lack of air seems to give a fresh breath of one. Though the problems plagued him he felt a bit more peace strangely, but as soon as he reached the surface, slowly so did his pain. He bobbed on the water's surface, Kyle turned his attention to the shore to see the girl with red hair that he for a second had forgotten was there, she was drenched in a raincoat with a worried expression.

Kyle realized that now he had to explain himself, it was hard to lie in this situation... He felt some guilt as he had probably scared this girl half to death. She had said something before but Kyle was too much of a daze to listen, everything seemed to still spin but at least Kyle was more intact with himself. Kyle let himself float on top of the lake's water a little longer before making his way back to shore.

"Le mie scuse Signora my apologies miss," Kyle said refusing to look in the girl's eyes in fear she could read him too well. The hurt came in like waves, Everytime he felt better another came like a infinite sea. Each wave challenged the dam within his mind, only so many he could take before it would break once more.... This was a major crack.... "I wasn't trying to cause worry or panic, I just decided.... To take a swim.... Scusi....sorry...."

Kyle then noticed the letter and the package once more, he slowly went to retrieve them so that they were once more in his possession despite him wishing that they would belong to someone else.

"My Nome name is Kyle, Kyle Victoria Diaz," Kyle said with a sweet, friendly smile, though his mind was torn. "Again scusi.... Why are you out here? If thats is okay to ask...."

Astra held her breath as she saw bubbles. The lake was dark, she couldn't see much, and the dark clouds obscuring the sun did nothing for it. She pushed her soaking hair out of her eyes and let out a huge sigh of relief when Kyle resurfaced.

The boy didn't meet her gaze as she met him at the shore. He mumbled something in Italian, sounding something of an apology. The only word she fully recognized was Signora, but scuse and scusi were close enough for her to take a guess.

"No, no, if you need to swim you need to swim," Astra said, probably sounding out of breath. Her heart was hammering in her chest. "You just... We should go back insides you could catch hypothermia from this!"

She would sort of shadow the boy as he retrieved his parcel of despair. Kyle turned to her and properly introduced himself. Astra returned his warm smile and said, "A pleasure to meet you, Kyle. I'm Astra Norrick." She kept her smile as he asked her why she was out there, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Just enjoying a rainy day. But, Signore sir, we should go inside and get you warmed up. I would hate it if you caught cold. Or worse, hypothermia." She decided not to bring up the package, as this was sensitive information, and she didn't want to hurt Kyle any further than he'd already been hurt. Right now, the main focus was on him avoiding sickness. Perhaps once they had gotten warm and/or dry, she would be able to offer a listening ear, or even a shoulder to cry on.

Kyle tried to avoid the first statement she made by introducing himself. As he was trying to belittle the situation as much as he could as to keep it hidden but at this point he knew that it would do little help. Kyle felt slightly relieved that she didn't focus too much on his sudden dive or scold him but just rather accepted it.
"A pleasure to meet you, Kyle. I'm Astra Norrick," The ginger said returning a smile that cut through the coldness that soaked Kyle to the bone. Kyle out of curiosity and eager to take attention off himself, which was out of character for him as he loved attention.

"Just enjoying a rainy day. But, Signore, we should go inside and get you warmed up. I would hate it if you caught cold. Or worse, hypothermia."

He smiled more at hearing his native tongue, even if it was one word, did Astra know Italian? He nodded acknowledging her words, which made the realization dawn over him, he was freezing, his emotions had distracted him so much he hadn't even noticed his state.

"Si, we both should get warmed up," He said with a small nod, before looking away too look for the castle amongst the heavy rain, he looked at Astra one more time before head back towards the castle of Hogwarts with her.
