Camp, 2023 Summer Duels, Game 6: Ravenclaw vs. Guests

So... they all missed. This was absolutely brilliant. Surely by now they would've seen his strategy and that was probably really stupid of him to elect the option of targeting the girl opposite him. It wasn't like he had teammates to duel with anymore as the cruel jerks had downed them.

So, if he didn't want to be predictable, what would he do?

The ravenclaw team was at a very very small advantage, having two players at once, the only downside was that their opponent was very skilled in dueling. The visitor casted Flipendo at Beatrice which she was able to skillfully dodge before casting Incendio, which unfortunately their opponent dodged. Oliver hadn’t got hit at all the entire duel, making him surprised how he was able to get that far. Oliver casted the dancing feet spell, an annoying spell which he had to deal with in the other rounds. Luck clearly wasn’t on anyones side, none of the spells hit anything. They just wizzed by. Its another chance to keep going, Oliver thought to himself as he decided what move he would do next.

There was too much at stake for her to lose her concentration now. Thankfully everyone had missed in some way this round, not just her. Nodding to Oliver he raised her wand to sling something else at her opponent. She needed to hit this round for them to win. Calling out to Vlad, Bea smirked. "You ready to go back home a loser?"

Vladislav decided targeting Beatrice was a bad idea, so he chose to target neither of them. Rather he would put all his attention into dodging the two incoming spells likely headed his way, not to mention the lightning over head. An interesting change in strategy, one Beatrice and Oliver didn't seem to expect as the both pointed their wands at the guest.

Oliver went first, switching to pure damage as the time ticked down, yellow-white light emanating from his wand as he cast the Knockback Jinx towards Vladislav. His cast was slow though, aim accurate but too easy to predict as the guest easily slid out of the way before the spell even had a chance of hitting. Beatrice, witnessing this exchange as she prepared her own spell, seemed to take note of the increased dodging capabilities and how the wand in his hand stayed by his side instead of outstretched. She went for what seemed to be her favorite spell of fire, casting Incendio Duo at Vladislav with far more control and focus than she had in previous rounds- the green light sharply cutting through the air towards the guest. Yet even that would be no match for his quick movements, sidestepping the spell with ease. It even almost looked as though Vladislav had dodged a lightning strike as it crashed into the ground besides him yet didn't hit- an impressive yet slow round as the time continued to dwindle.

What the hell was this luck??! This stupid boy in front of her was a right pain in the neck. She scowled as he nimbly dodged both her and Olivers attacks. How lucky could one person be? Hopefully this next round would be better and this never-ending duel could end. Only one good thing out of this round was that Vlad hadn't tried to cast any spells at them.

It seemed as though some of the contestants thought this was the end- surely the seconds had gone by with the series of starts and stops that this duel had experienced. Vladislav and Oliver seemed to think so as they remained still in place, not lifting up their wands yet not seeming to have some other plan in mind. Only Beatrice and the raincloud knew that there was still time left and a target still in their sights- if only their luck was better than their intention.

Beatrice gave up on her fire- clearly it hadn't been hitting- so she moved onto just trying to knock the guest out with a Flipendo. Her casting was good, the spell coming to fruition but it would be the aiming that threw her off. Perhaps from the stillness of the others, but she missed completely with Vladislav not even having to move out his space. It was close though, almost grazing him even as he stood in place- but a miss was a miss. Nothing happened.

And so the raincloud would strike down with its lightning. A thunderous roar echoed out and the sparks exploded from the air in a great show yet as soon as it appeared, the light vanished and left Vladislav exactly as he had been before. No new injuries, this round would also end up in a stand still and the time ticked... ticked... ticked... away- almost gone.

Bea watched as another flipendo went sailing by her opponent. He wasn't even doing anything, just standing there still as a rock. Her team mate wasn't doing any better. She turned to nudge him. "Oliver," shr whispered. "Get back into the game!" By her count, they only had one more round to go. One more round to win this.

His eyes flared with anger. How dare he stand there and lose his concentration on what he was here at Hogwarts for? He was here for one reason and one reason only. He was not here to slack or to lose. If he did, he would've brought great shame to Koldovstoretz, and that was definitely not something he wanted to see or acknowledge happening. Obviously, he was still attentive enough to mindlessly dodge the flipendo, but it still stood. He was a dumb idiot who didn't know what the hell he was doing. He had to do better. There was no excuse.
