Only the second day of school, first day of classes. Astra found she had some time to dally around before heading down to Charms from Transfiguration. Her eye was caught by a grand room, a room that could probably only be described by grand and it's synonyms. Magnificent. Breath-taking. Glorious. Elegant.

Enough with the adjectives. She stepped inside, her hard soled shoes making small tapping noises. Staring up at the tall ceiling, she was reminded of a cathedral or a Greco-Roman building of similar magnificence. Well, this is a castle.

She was reminded of the pictures her parents and aunts and uncles had showed her of dances spent here, specifically the Yule Ball of 1994, which Aunt Aces, Uncle Ray, Aunt Seren, and Uncle Don had all participated in. Dad was a first ye- Dad was my age?! And Mum, she wasn't even at Hogwarts yet!? It boggled the eleven year old's mind to think that her so very elderly parents had once been kids, too. Much easier to picture the ever energetic Aunt Aces and Uncle Ray at sixteen, or the always amazing Aunt Seren and Uncle Don at fourteen and seventeen, respectively.

She wondered if she would be attending any events in this magnificent place anytime soon.

Astra's reverie was broken by footsteps. She glanced around quickly, but hiding places were few and with a look to the door it was clear the other person, a Gryffindor girl, would have already seen her. Dam- dangit, I don't want to get in trouble already. She just waved, hoping the girl would move on and not tell, especially if being in the ballroom wasn't allowed or something. Well, I am a first year so I've got a good excuse.

ARIES HEARD FOOTSTEPS coming from the entrance of the ball room. why am i here? she thought, and the answer to that question was because of exploration and how reese's moods worked out. today she felt like taking a tour, but of course no one could handle her wild spirit, so she had to lead herself around the castle.

today's exciting room was the ball room, in which reese was examining pilished stones, jewels and the marvelous, glimmering pillars, the marble floor and the glossy finsihed looks of the whole room of glamour. she turned her head quick to see a flash of dark green. a slytherin., she thought. probably also a first year, because no second year would even nearly take or have the time to wander around. but rie was too much of a perfectionist to leave her work to the last minute.

hello! i was looking for someone really, come along we could be tour guides. its like watching a movie with a friend rather than alone. especially if the movie is scary. she called out, aries's voice echocing through the sparkling chamber.

a girl a bit shorter came out, and reese waved. she turned to face the girl, and dragged her along, mischief partners in crime, huh? she thought, doubting if she was even allowed to touch most of these objects.

Astra blinked at the torrent of words coming from the other girl's mouth. She was taller than Astra, as a lot of people were, with long brown hair and shining eyes that held excitement. Before Astra knew it, she was being dragged along.

We could be like tour guides, eh? Astra laughed internally at the thought. I've only been here since yesterday.

The girl in front of her was a Gryffindor, like Roderick, but didn't look quite as old as him. Then again, Astra always said he looked like an old man, way older than he was, simply to annoy him. In reality, her thirteen-year-old brother could probably pass for fourteen and a half at the most. He'd been mistaken for fourteen before.

She shook her head, snapping out of her reverie. "I don't know if it could be called tour guides," she said. "I've only just arrived yesterday." Her voice wasn't quiet, per se, but below its regular volume (which, to be fair, would be considered on the softer side).

She was rather bewildered, amazed that someone could be so confident to grab someone else's hand and just start leading them around. Well, she is a Gryffindor. Rod would likely do the same if he wasn't a such a ruddy introvert. Does he even count as an introvert? I mean, he may as well be an extravert who only pretended to like alone time to make fun of Astra's survival based need of the same thing. That's probably what he's doing.
