To my most esteemed parents,
You're not going to believe it. I'm not a Ravenclaw. It was such a a shock, but I've been sorted into (drumroll please) Slytherin! Yes, yes, save your applause. The Hat told me about Dad, said I was a hatstill like you! But with Ravenclaw instead of Gryffindor.
I've met a couple people. There was a girl in the train. Her name is Sylvia. I was really nervous and kind of awkward, but she likes books too. I don't know where she got sorted.
Then on the boat ride I met the caretaker, Finley Greer. She seems really cool, I like her. There were two other girls in my boat, Ashley and Sere. Ashley is an artist. Sere has a cool name, Sere Nade. Her parents took the golden opportunity they were given.
I also met some Slytherin boys. One of them is an older year, his name is Tristan. He's a Pureblood. I can't remember his last name but he was really proud of it. The other one is Orion Quinn, son of Alabaster Quinn. Crazy, right? I like him. He's smart and quite interesting.
Don't worry, I haven't gotten into any mischief yet. I plan to be a good student for a few weeks all year and not do anything too outrageous. Love you both, hope this letter finds you well, yada ya, formalities, etc.
I'll write you whenever I remember.

Uncle Ray is so proud of you, Asa! As are all the rest of us. Even Aunt Seren was able to send her congratulations before I sent this letter.
I'm sure you were fine. Sylvia was probably nervous as well! Plus, if you meet her again, you'll be all sorted out and probably have a lovely conversation.
Sere's parents definitely made the most of that opportunity, such a lovely name. I'm so happy you've already met people! You know, Silena and I met on the boats and we're still great friends to this day.
Be careful around Orion! Even though he may be cool, he is still the son of a criminal. And would Tristan be any chance be a blond headed boy? I think I've met his dad, but I'm not sure.
Asa, don't get into too much trouble, alright? It sounds like things are going well for you and I don't want you to ruin that for yourself.
Make sure you and Roderick find some time to hang out or something, this is a great chance for you to grow your relationship.
