Today Kat and her brother are doing something very special, they're going to go hang out with Boris' friend and his little sister Astra. Boris of course doesn't have to worry about what to wear because he's a boy but Kat wants to make a good impression on his sister.

So she gets out her best pink dress with with white mary janes and striped pink and white socks for the occasion, she styles her plantium blonde hair in its regular two pigtails and fixes her bangs.

The perfect accessories to this outfit is her pink ring with a small heart-shaped pink diamond on it and her favorite heart-shaped purse, the ring is her extra confidence charm and she might new a lot of confidence.

"Поторопись, Екатерина, пока я тебя не оставил!" [Hurry up Yekaterina, before I leave you!] Boris yells impatiently from the other side of the manor. Boys are so impatient.

Kat retaliates by saying, "Если ты оставишь меня, я расскажу твоему другу о твоей мягкой игрушке." [If you leave me, I'll tell your friend about your stuffed animal] Kat is joking but the silence is refreshing, there's nothing wrong with having a stuffed animal but you know how boys are.

When she finishes, she skipped through the practically poreclain hallways, wondering why her family got this huge manor with only 4 kids, 3 adults, and 2 pets but to each their own.

As soon as she got to Boris, Missy who was waiting patiently for Kat to finish made sure both of them looked presentable and kissed them both on the cheek, much to Boris' dismay. She then apparates all of them to a secluded area around the corner from what Kat assumes to be Boris' friend's house and bid her children a see you later.

"When we get there don't be such a girl. You'll probably scare Astra away." Boris says before knocking on the door. "I will be as I am Boris, which is a girl. Plus all the pink, I'm wearing screams, what do muggles say? Dumb Blonde?" Kat says confused before grinning at him as he rolls his eyes fondly.

"But MUM!" Astra complained, marching through the house after her mother. She was wearing a long sleeved white shirt underneath a dark gray t-shirt with the number "96" on it in sport's font, as well as jeans that fit loosely on her thin frame. Her wavy red hair hangs loosely around her face. "That's stupid. Why can't Roderick deal with the both of them, they're his friends." She's very, very angry that what was supposed to be a lazy day filled with reading and a long run at the park, and maybe even a trip to the ice cream parlor with Elliot and Jesse was now cancelled because some random people Astra had never heard of were going to show up to hang out with Roderick.

Morella whirled on her daughter with fire in her eyes. "Watch your tone, young lady. The Vladimirs were nice enough to let Boris and Roderick have a day out and you're not going to ruin it by being disrespectful and rude," she hissed. "Do I make myself clear?"

Astra sighed and mumbled a "Yes, ma'am" before going into the kitchen and grabbing breakfast. She probably likes pink and rainbows and talking. Ugh, and Rod's not even in here to greet them.

Suddenly, a knock. Her dad Hyperion opened the door. "Hello, Boris! And... oh, don't tell me... Yekaterina?" he said. "Welcome to our humble abode, you two. Come on in, Roderick is in the backyard right now. I'll go get him."

Morella gave Astra a pointed look and mouthed Behave before greeting the children with a smile. Astra simply looked over with poker face on full force. She was right, the girl was wearing pink, pink, and more pink. Oh, God, save me.

When he asked said Kat's full first name, she was too nervous to speak so she smiled in confirmation. The mom smiled sweetly at Kat and Boris after Kat seen her mouth something to her annoyed daughter, if Kat couldn't read certain social cues, she would've been fooled by the girl's impressive pokerface.

She shifted nervously as the girl's eyes bore into her soul, but of course she snapped out of it and introduces herself to the girl. "Hi! My name's Kat, you must be Astra." She says putting a lot of her personality into her smile and words.

She said it so carelessly that all of her nervousness has fizzled out of existence and her ditzy but kind of intelligent attitude came to surface, and Boris being the annoyance he is starts trying to butter up the other girls's mother.

She rolls her eyes out of annoyance, and attempts a conversation with Astra. This could go one if two ways; Perfectly or Horribly, or somewhere in the middle but preferably perfect. So let's give it a shot, "Do you know what we're doing today? That arse...I mean my brother refuses to tell me."

She can't believe she just cursed, he just makes her so mad sometimes. All brothers are annoying but you have to love the big lugs, even Kat loves Boris just a little bit.

Astra barely refrained from physically recoiling (in a sarcastic move, of course) as the girl shoot so much bubbliness in Astra's direction that she felt as if she should be soaked in soap solution.

Ok, she may be feeling a tad dramatic.

The girl, or Kat, as she introduced herself, rolled her eyes at her brother, who was currently "charming" Astra's mum. Morella, of course, was used to teenage boys and simply playing along, but he (Boris, wasn't it?) didn't need to know that.

"Do you know what we're doing today?" Kat asked. She had a bit of an accent, Russian, and Astra had to force herself not to imitate it. It was her thing, accents, something that she and her actual friend did for laughs. She was reminded of Elliot and Jesse as well, yet another reason to put a scowl on her face. No, I can't go hang out with my fun and amazing cousins because I have to be here.

Astra's eyebrows shot up as Kat cursed. She was surprised (pleasantly), and intrigued. Maybe Barbie isn't so... well, Barbie. And brothers are arses half the time. She was about to respond when Roderick and Boris came tumbling through, grabbing a snack. Rod thought it would be funny to flick Astra on the back of the head so she kicked him in the knee with her black sneakers. "What's the plan, Rod?" she asked, turning her annoyed stare on him.

He was unbothered by the kick, this kind of stuff happened often between the two, and they hadn't really fought in ages. "Going to head to the park, go to the ice cream parlor, and then the cinema. Go out to dinner at that music club, too," he answered, taking a bite out of an apple. Astra looked at Kat and nodded to her brother.

"There you have it from the annoyance himself," she said.

Hyperion poked his head into the kitchen to tell the kids they could run to the park if they wanted to, Morella would be along shortly. Roderick grabbed Astra's hand and said to Boris, "You do the same, mate. Just safer that way."

"Oh, stop making it out to be so dangerous, Rod, it's just a few blocks down, barely out of sight from the house," Astra said with an eyeroll before turning to Kat. "Just something Muggle siblings tend to do, they have this mentality of safety in numbers when they go anywhere. Makes queues absolutely unbearable."

And with that Morella called for the kids to follow her out the door, letting a cool breeze into the house as she opened the door.

When Astra explained the thing that muggles do, Kat found herself being disgusted that muggles do such a thing. "What if the other person didn't wash their hands?" She looked at Boris with an accusing look, she didn't see him wash his hands after he used the bathroom at home.

"отвратительная вещь." [Disgusting thing] She said with an uncharacteristic amount of venom and a playful undertone, this is just their sibling banter, there's no actually hate between them. He preceded to call her a spoiled princess in English, too lazy to say it in Russian.

Kat has decided to hold his hand but not with precautions, she gives him hand sanitizer to put on his hands, still refusing to hold his dirty hands. He of course rolls his eyes before applying the hand sanitizer, then grabbing his little sister's hand careful not to bruise.

"I still don't understand why this is needed if the park is as close as Astra says, but I'll do this random muggle tradition." Kat says doing the perfect impression of those pompous pureblood arses that she's unfortunately related to. She immediately runs out of the door dragging poor Boris along, the wind whispering unintelligible things in her ears, before she and Boris reach the park sooner than she expected.

"Wow." She said breathlessly and shocked. Boris has been to a muggle and wizarding park (curtesy of his many muggleborn friends) but Kat has never been to a park, her parents didn't want their miracle to be hurt or worse taken.

"Exactly!" Astra said. She was still salty, but seemed to be liking Kat as time went on. Too much pink, though. Kat said something in Russian that Astra didn't recognize at all, but then again she literally only knew two words in the language. That was what Astra did when she was bored, she learned random words in different languages.

"Spoiled princess," Boris answered in a not-so-obviously sarcastic manner. Astra knew they were just jabbing at each other like Roderick and herself did. She didn't know many people with older brothers, not counting her cousin Maria (who was also much older than her, with two older brothers so it was hardly the same). Funny how we're turning out to have things in common.

Roderick insisted on grabbing Astra's hand in his own. She tucked her hand into the end of her sleeve and gave him a look. "Did you wash?" she asked in an accusatory tone.

"Shut up," he answered. Morella called for the kids again, and Kat and Boris led the way, Kat seeming to drag her brother along. It's windy, the cool breeze a welcome respite from summer heat.

Astra let a bemused look creep onto her face when Kat stopped in her tracks. Aw, she needs to get out more. She wondered if all Pureblood kids were like this, sheltered from the muggle world. The Norricks were probably once Purebloods, but their blood was very diluted through centuries of marriages to Muggleborns, such as the one between Astra's own parents.

Roderick immediately spotted some of his primary school friends and waved Boris over as he ran to them. They had a football/soccerball with them and seemed to be forming a great game. Astra didn't like football, or really any games involving balls besides basketball. She preferred gymnastics or kickboxing (though she had never done the latter properly).

Astra supposed she should be a good host, especially with her mum's steely gaze boring into the back of her head. "I don't suppose you'd want to try to join the football game, would you?" she asked, looking at Kat's pink dress with a bit of skepticism. The basketball courts were filled with teenage boys who had a height advantage over both eleven year olds, no matter how good or bad they may be, so Astra didn't even suggest that.

Miracle of miracles! the girl thought as her attention was drawn to the swings. They're empty! This was a rare occurrence. She jerked her head towards the swings, saying, "Or we could swing. But we should probably grab them soon, they're hardly ever empty like this."

If Kat agreed, Astra would make her way to the swings at a fast pace and begin swinging almost immediately, leaning far back and eventually going as high as the bar.

The scenery is unfamiliar, a group of people are playing a weird game involving a weirdly colored ball. The game is definitely a no, too many boys and one thing her mums and dad told her about is that not everyone has pure intentions. The swings it is, "The swings seem safer."

Despite just meeting Astra today, Kat knows that Astra wouldn't put her in harm's way. Sorry mums and dad, I don't always need to be cautious, I'm still a kid. She skips over to the muggle contraption as if she knows exactly what she's doing, she doesn't.

Kat is too ashamed to admit that she doesn't know how to get on a swing, so she gets on it as she would get on a horse; aka sideways. "Am I doing it right? This doesn't feel right" Her russian accent becoming more apparent than her irish accent but it's not completely there. She must look like a psycho, sitting on it like a saddle and getting scared whenever it moves.

She would never admit it but she wants to impress Astra, she's a cool person who knows a bunch of cool things about muggles and stuff that Kat doesn't know about. She must seem pitiful, a poor helpless pureblood who was sheltered for most of her life. If you ask her, she's strong and independent and she can take care of herself

Astra almost laughed out loud as Kat straddled the swing seat like one would a horse. Oh, poor girl. I wonder why she's so sheltered? Boris doesn't seem that way. "You're right, that definitely isn't right," Astra answered as she sat in her own swing. "You just sit in it like you would a chair. Then you kind of lean back and then pull yourself back up." She demonstrated, her body going into a fast rhythm of lean and pull. Astra loved to swing.

Astra still thought that she would rather be spending her time elsewhere, but she could be persuaded to admit that she and Kat were starting to have some things in common. They both had annoying older brothers, both were sarcastically antagonistic to said brothers, and both apparently disliked football. But Kat was still sheltered and in Astra's opinion, ditzy. And all that pink. Dear God, it would make my eyes bleed.

Other than that, though, Kat seemed fun. She was Pureblood, so also interesting for the young halfblood (or wizardborn, depending on who you talked to). "So what do Pureblood families do when they want to go out to eat? Or go to the cinema?" Astra asked while slowing her swing down.

What the bloody hell is a cinema? Kat is embarrassed that she doesn't know what a cinema I'd but that doesn't mean she won't ask. "We just go out to eat at places where the food is smaller than my palm and then our house elves feed me, my siblings, my dad and my other mom Missy secretly and claim we look like skin and bones. My other mum Fluer is somehow fulfilled by the small portions of food."

Kat got so caughter up in rambling she almost didn't ask the Golden question, "By the way, what is a cinema? Is it a type of game or sport like, what was that the boys are playing? Football? And also what is a softball? I heard Boris talking about it once. Is it a ball that is soft?" That was a bad idea because her accent almost completely overshadowed her words but it still sounds understandable.

I must sound so stupid now

To distract herself from having anymore negative thoughts, Kat decides to start swinging. As she started off slow and kicked her legs back and forth, she gradually got faster and faster. She's having a lot of fun, but that didn't stop her from getting a leg cramp. She clutched her leg and stop the swing before asking Astra if this is what dying feels like. It took a few minutes but she got over it and silently promised herself that she wouldn't kick as hard as she did before. Mainly because she is also wearing a dress (that she forgot that she was wearing in the first place).

Astra wrinkled her nose. "Like those fancy places that serve fish eggs on giant plates?" she asked. Mentally, she was wondering about the "other mum" thing. I guess she has two moms? And a dad? The eleven-year-old couldn't really make sense of it so she didn't dwell on the matter. "That doesn't sound like fun. You should ask your mum Missy and your dad to take you to a steakhouse or tavern sometime. Like The Railway over that way, they've got good food and Dad likes the drinks." She gestured vaguely to the east. She didn't quite know where in Richmond it was, but that general direction seemed right.

Astra's jaw likely touched the ground when Kat asked what a cinema was. The cinema was one of her favorite places! "You don't go to the cinema? That's mental!" She blinked, remembering she had been asked a question. "It's not a sport, no, it's a place where they show movies. You know the wizard photographs that move? A movie is basically like a really long wizard photo that tells a story. We'll be going today, I think. Mum said we're going to watch the Ninja Turtles movie."

Astra realized that Kat probably had no reference point for the turtles. "It's more of a boy thing, since we didn't know you were coming until last minute, but I think you'll like it. Or at least, you'll like going to the movies."

Morella came over to the swings. "We'll be headed to the ice cream parlor in a few minutes," she said, motioning for the girls to stop swinging.

Astra slowly came to a halt, hopping off the swing and helping Kat stop (should she accept the help). "Please tell me purebloods have ice cream. It would be so depressing if you didn't!" Or was Astra's personally belief, nay, conviction that ice cream was the greatest dessert in the world.

In a few minutes, Roderick would come back, dragging Boris, both now significantly sweatier and with dirt smudges, and lead the way to the parlor across the street. Morella would walk with the girls, keeping an eye on the boys ahead and keeping her purse close.
