"Incendio Duo!"

If at first you don't succeed, try again. That particular adage was proving somewhat difficult for the young Ravenclaw who, while managing a successful cast of the spell, found both streams of the green flames missing their mark. Worse, his aim was so poor on one that it nearly hit his teammate. Thankfully, it missed her as well.

"Apologies, Sam!" He managed to shout through the chaos as he grimaced at how close it came to hitting her. Alas, such things were liable to happen during duels. One could train every hour of the day and still it might come down to some unseen or unconsidered variable -- or just pure luck.

Regardless, he was determined not to allow such carelessness to occur again. Light on his feet, he was poised and ready to continue the fight.

Her own spell was focused on Milosh, whose eyes were covered by a beautiful blindfold. The older student probably wasn't very happy with the blindfold, but Samantha most definitely was. It made it so much easier for her wind jinx to hit the student. The young prefect expected her teammates to go for Milosh as well, so she was extremely surprised when she was targeted by Cassius. "I will forgive you," she yelled back. "Just this once!"

There was not much to be proud of this round. Both of their opponents were blindfolded so there was no reason to fear them. It was also reasonable to believe it should be easy to hit them... alas magic was a fickle mistress and Cassius missed again. Not only that. He nearly set their own captain on fire in the process.

Eun-ji briefly wondered whether her passionate hatred for this particular spell started to affect her team's luck. Of course, she knew it was a stupid notion. She supposed it was simply Milosh's turn to be a bit lucky. He was hit by Samantha's spell sure, but it would be so much worse if he was set ablaze as well. Especially since he was essentially fighting alone right now. Rodion still seemed completely lost and didn't even bother to pull down his blindfold. Well...that makes things easier for us I suppose. She shrugged eventually, leaving the playful bickering to her teammates. It was time to think about her next move.

Taking the blindfold off was his only option. His spells would not be able to land at all. Given his slim chance of them landing anyways due to the disadvantage the day seemed to be having on him. The spell would catch but then it was directed incorrectly, or dodges were preformed, unfortunately, really spectacularly by the other team. It grinded his gears that he had to duel with other foreign schools, not even his own school took enough interest in the sport, granted its usefulness and insane intelligence that it took. Members would join, participate and then drop at the snap of a finger. Excuses, lack of motivation, and in most cases, no heart is what all the duelists lacked. A spark of envy filled him as the Ravenclaw's seemed to work together flawlessly without even verbally discussing their plans. His gaze shifted to Rodion who seemed to flail about helplessly, getting struck once more, blindfold still on. At this point he could either step up to the plate or become a liability. And so far, it was looking to be the latter. Rolling his shoulders back, and straightening his posture, the older boy did what he usually had to do. Carry the team. Or at least hold out to gain some sort of respect from the other team, regardless of the outcome.

"Rodion. Get your shit together." He'd hiss lightly in the boy's direction to his side before returning his gaze forward, eyes narrowed in distaste and genuine annoyance, to... well, everyone.

How can things go south? Nothing really seemed to work anymore. How can Hogwarts people, the inferiors, be so good at this? Was there a training regime he didn’t know about? Was there a pagan ritual that they did? Was there a sacrificial lamb to win this thing? They always won and it did not make sense to him. It wasn’t his first loss to them. It was multiple losses on top of the others. He was getting frustrated

While Julian would never condone the use of rude language in a school setting (see: Milosh's use of the 's' word), he had to admit that Milosh's admonition seemed to have worked, pushing his teammate into motion, and soon enough Rodion was free of his blindfold. Unfortunately, it was a little too late. Rodion had not been the only one to rally, with Cassius switching gears into a knockback jinx that he both managed to cast and aim successfully. The spell hit Rodion's chest with considerable force at the same time as Eun-Ji struck a glancing blow with Incendio Duo. But glancing blow or not, it was enough. It seemed Rodion had had enough, and he did not get up.

Simultaneously, Eun-Ji had also managed to set Milosh's robes on fire and Samantha and Milosh seemed to be locked in a private duel of their own--with Samantha causing a small explosin at Milosh's feet, and Milosh striking the Ravenclaw with a knockback jinx to the shoulder. Julian called a halt, however, before this smaller conflict could escalate, so Rodion could be helped off the piste.

For a change, this seemed to be a successful round for everyone. Of course, Rodion's success was not the kind to save him. He pulled himself together far too late. Eun-ji didn't enjoy setting people on fire but seeing Cassius fail the spell twice simply made it too tempting and she decided to try it herself.

In the end, she wasn't fully successful either but it was enough. Paired with the well aimed flipendo from Cassius and the ongoing effect of the rictusempra spell, they finally managed to knock Rodion out. Eun-ji winced and took a moment to look around while their second downed opponent received much needed rescue. She was too busy before but now she noticed two familiar faces among the spectators.

You again? The girl barely stopped herself from sighing. Somehow, Hiro seemed to be everywhere she went recently. It was truly mind-boggling. Thankfully, the second face was much more pleasant to see. Kim was her friend and she was always happy to receive his support. It was clear, he wasn't doing so well these days yet he still made time to come and watch her duel... Eun-ji smiled at him gratefully. It was not a big smile but that's how she was and her friend knew that so she wasn't worried.

Alright...time to focus again. The Ravenclaw reprimanded herself. She was doing quite well today and she hoped to keep it that way.

"Flipendo!"

Finally, the Ravenclaw thought as his knockback jinx was not just successful but hit its target. A small part of him felt bad for the guest duellist as the impact of the jinx was augmented by Eun-ji's successful Incendio Duo and knocked the boy out. A very small part of him. This was duelling and Cassius had been on the receiving end of such a combination in the past. Still, he hoped the boy's injuries were not serious. Magic could of course heal most things, but it did little to lessen the initial surge of pain.

Putting thoughts of hospitalization out of his mind, Cassius prepared to continue on. Two of their opponents were out and only one remained but he did not expect the sole survivor to simply roll over. No, the jinx on Sam was indication enough of that. Good -- he did not suffer those who gave up easily.

As their chance of winning became bigger, so did the girl's ego. Grinning proudly, the brunette showed of her dueling skills. Confringo, it was a fifth year spell that Samantha had taught herself. Not only was it self taught, it was also an incredibly hard spell to preform. However, the risk was all worth it when the powerfully spell created an explosion at Milosh's feet. The girl didn't even care that she was hit by a flipendo, as the pain she was feeling was nothing with the damage she had just done to the foreign student. "OH MY GOSH!" Samantha yelled out.

"Did you guys just see that?" she looked over at her teammates, unaware that they had managed to knock out the other opponent. Only when the duel was paused, and after a confused glance at the opposite side of the stage, did the girl realize that there was just one foreign student still standing. Looking back with the brightest smile, she spoke: "good job, guys! We are killing it." It maybe wasn't the most appropriate thing to say when somebody was just knocked out by a flipendo and fire, but the girl didn't care.

With both of his teammates down, it seemed like the wind had gone out of Milosh's sails (or possibly he was just done with being stuck in a current of wind), and as spells began to rain once again, none were came from him. For their part, the Ravenclaw team did not immediately capitalise on their advantage, as Julian would've expected them to. Instwad, they took a more careful approach, with Eun-Ji casting twin healing spells at her and Samantha, and Cassius casting Nebulus, no doubt to hamper their remaining opponent's visibility. Only Samantha went on the offensive, surrounding Milosh with some more wind.
