It had been far too long since she practiced. Her violin was right in the room, and there were pianos in the Rehearsal Room she had recently figured out, but music seemed to escape her. She would plink a few notes out or run a fingering exercise then walk away.

What's wrong with me? Astra thought, shaking her head. She was in the library again, reading through a book of poetry called Waltz. It was good, she thought, though perhaps not the most conventional. But it was raw and good poetry, poetry that felt genuine. Hm, maybe I could try to play a song that fits one of these poems.

It was worth a shot, and honestly not a half bad idea. She went over to a section of the library that seemed to hold more musical information to browse. Maybe I'll find some inspiration here.

Astra glanced over to a new shelf, her eyes alighting on a young girl sitting in an armchair, reading a book. Perhaps it was a book from this section. Astra took a deep breath before asking in a soft tone, "Hey, sorry for disrupting your reading, but is this the music section? If it is, do you know if there are any good piano or violin sheet music collections here?

Michelle had decided to spend her Saturday reading. Her favorite thing to do was read, maybe after playing instruments or painting, but she did like it. She would've loved to sit near trees or something but going outside was pointless, the mid afternoons were still sunny. But till she waited for her favorite season to come and for the scorching heat to finally go away, she had to spend her time inside. That's how she ended up in the library. She found a nice armchair to sit on and picked a good book to read. Perfect saturday, she thought to herself.

It took no time for her to get comfortable in her chair and deeply engrossed in the novel. Every time she read fiction, it was like she got teleported to a different world. She always imagined herself as her favorite character in the book.
"Hey, sorry for disrupting your reading, but is this the music section?"
She heard a voice that kind of startled her. The voice wasn't loud or harsh, it was rather soft. But could you blame Michelle? She had just gotten teleported back to reality in a jerk.

Michelle looked up to see who was speaking to her.The voice came from a redhead, probably in Slytherin. Judging based off her height and face; Michelle made out that she was most likely a first year.

Michelle had an internal battle with her inner introvert: conversation or no conversation, and the answer was the first option.

"You're in the right place" she closed her book and stood up. "There are soem pretty good piano sheets right there - shelf eight" she pointed towards the shelf. "the violin sheets are just here right near my chair. I dont know if they're good though."

Astra nodded, saying "Thanks" before studying the shelves in front of her. Shelf eight was out of reach for her shortness, even on tiptoes with arms fully outstretched, so she looked around for a stool or ladder of some kind.

Luckily, there was a stepladder nearby and Astra picked it up. It was lighter than she'd expected but that was fine, great actually. "So do you play an instrument?" she asked the other girl as she scanned through the music. Sorted into files alphabetically by composer, the music was in varying stages of age, though all were in good condition. Oh, who's this? Ludovico Einaudi? she thought as her eyes caught glimpse of the name. She remembered her piano teacher saying something about him. I wouldn't have expected a Muggle composer in here.

As she waited for the girl's answer, Astra took out the file and began flipping through. Most of the stuff looked difficult, but she was sure she could learn it. After all, Astra was technically a prodigy in music. Several of his pieces had string accompaniments, violin included.

Astra, suddenly very excited, hopped down from the ladder and made her way over to the chair and looked for the violin sheet to a song called Experience. After the other girl answered, Astra would respond with, "Oh, nice! I play piano and violin, a little cello but I don't know a lot about that."

Michelle saw the girl nod, as the slytherin (?) thanked her. The girl begin figuring out how to take the book out of the shelf that was out of her reach, while Michelle figured if she wanted to start a convo with the girl.
Michelle sat down looking at the girl taking out her books and was yet again startled by the sound of the girl's voice.
"So do you play an instrument?"
The girl was trying to make a conversation. Act normal, she had to remind herself. She wasn't really fond of conversations, especially with a possible Slytherin. I mean, you can't just expect someone who's had like 3 friends before Hogwarts to just come and be friendly with people she doesn't know without hesitation.

The girl seemed really nice though, and a pause before answering the question wouldn't really be a good first impression.
Whatever, she had taken the initiative to make lots of friends here anyway.
"I play the piano. I'm trying to learn guitar though. What about you?"

Michelle saw the girl suddenly excited, walking towards the chair with a violin sheet in her hand.
After the girl replied to her question, Michelle thought she'd at least ask for her name
"Oh wait, I didn't get your name"

"Guitar seems so fun, that's awesome that you're learning it," Astra said. A fellow pianist! "How long have you played piano?"

It was odd for Astra to be this outgoing, but she found the silence of the library off-putting and therefore decided to speak. Usually she had Roderick there to annoy her, or Novem making owl noises somewhere. Plus she had learned even in just this first month at Hogwarts that there were so many people who had similar interests to her, people who she could relate with because they all shared at least one trait: magic. And with at least one thing in common, there comes a level of mutual understanding, which somehow seemed to shave off awkwardness in social encounters.

"I'm Astra, you?" she responded, quickly sticking out her hand for the other girl to shake. Funny how that was her immediate instinct. To offer up a part of her body to be touched and thereby germified, no matter how clean the other person was. She made a mental note to untrain herself to go for the handshake, remembering how Roderick didn't always wash his hands after coming out of the toilet, or after playing football/soccer.

In her excitement, she found herself getting hot, and she reached up with the hand holding the music to loosen the green tie around her neck. An idea came to the young girl, one that she blurted out almost immediately. "If you're up for it, I'd love to play with you. Maybe this song, or we could find something else," she said, gesturing to the shelves of music. "I've never really duetted with a pianist on violin."
