It seemed that the Snakes finally got back with a counter-offensive as soon as Dmitri got free out of paralysis again to manifest his presence clearly.

What Meenauh saw was all three duellists split their spells for maximum impact. This fact alone was enough to mark with the Spectacular badge.

Amaury seemed to predict the counter-offensive and threw a perfect shield, a rare occasion, it seemed any spell would just bounces off it and hit something nicely. But apparently the Slytherin side predicted that as well and no spell went Amaury's way.

Maksim managed to throw a Confringo towards Ruby, but the whole energetic wave from the Snakes threw him off. At least the splinters hit Ruby, which wasn't pleasant at all. It didn't break Ruby's determination and she split Incendio Duo, it seemed at Maksim and Hadashi, but for some reason both went towards Hadashi, who managed to dodge only one of them. Hadashi was now aflame.

Astrea sent a strong split gust of wind, which moved the Lightning Cloud to the opposite side, and with the split, she hit Maksim slightly, disorientating him a bit.

But it all didn't matter much for Maksim as one of the splits that Dmitri sent hit him in the chest. And that split was from the Petrificus spell. Maksim was paralysed and his body met the sturdiness of the stage's floor.

Hadashi didn't seem to cast anything, but probably because he was busy dodging all the spells going his way.

As the next series of events unfolded, Dmitri couldn't help but stare, perplexed, at his wand. Finally, it has done something useful this duel, thank Merlin.

He didn't want to admit it but his teammates have been doing most of the heavy-lifting this time around and although there was less pressure during summer games, it still wasn't a good look on the former Viper Captain.

Now, more than ever, Dmitri had to make his last duels as a Hogwarts student count.

He'll see himself in the Hogwarts Dueling wall of fame at graduation if it was the last thing he did.

"Alright, let's clean this place up." He'd signal to his two teammates.

It seemed the foreign students’ favorite spell was Confringo, a pattern Ruby noted as she dodged the explosion at her feet. This time, she didn’t have a shield to protect her, getting hit by the splinters, but she didn’t let it deter her from casting. The twin flames shot out of her wand, but, interestingly, they didn’t go where intended. She had tried to hit the boy who had attempted the Confringo, but it seemed her magic had other ideas, with both of the flames headed for the one who had run his mouth at the beginning of the duel. One successfully hit, eliciting a calm satisfaction as she regarded the damage being done. All of the Slytherins had managed to hit at least one of the targets while the foreigners failed to do the same. Dmitri said to clean this place up, and Ruby gave a single nod of affirmation. “The sooner the better. We’ve toyed with them enough.”

Astrea's primary target was not to inflict immediate damage towards the enemy team — to this, she was content to allow her allies the glorious strategical success — but to set the stage for future advantage. Successfully transferring the crackling stormcloud across the piste, Astrea's secondary wind gust managed to just scarcely clip one of their foreign opponents before the other toppled over, magically paralysed. Caught between the mirroring conversations of the duel, it was clear that everyone had come to a consensus. The duel, already halfway finished, was in dire need of a swift conclusion, one only the Vipers could claim with complete certainty.

The overall stage was deeply confused, or asleep, or whatever. Amaury, Hadashi, Maksim, Astrea — all got frozen by the lack of actions. Even though something on the stage was still off. That was probably someone (Astrea) on the Slytherin side, projecting some confusing aura. So confusing that the only person with an offensive — Dmitri — missed the spell, it seemed, before it was even cast. Strange, indeed. Unpleasant and strange.

And in the almost complete silence, Ruby just healed herself.

Meenauh yawned. Which was the most unexpected thing to happen with the roster of duellists in this duel.

Dmitri fumed.

It seemed spellcasting was not really working out for him this summer. Not only did it not do justice to his status as the best duelist of Hogwarts, but it meant much more work this year before the next season of the tournaments started.

He had to get his head on straight before the start of the school year.

And for the love of Merlin, he should really start now.

This duel seemed to be dragging on much longer than necessary. Really, how long was such a vicious fight meant to last? It seemed like, after all the power they'd thrown at each other, someone would've suffered a blow enough to send them into unconsciousness. But no-- they all still stood, facing each other, and the Cazares girl continued to heal herself. Really, if she was wasting so much time just trying to stay on her feet, perhaps it would be more worthwhile for her to simply step down and instigate a rematch when she was more... prepared.
