Camp, 2023 Summer Duels, Game 6: Ravenclaw vs. Guests

Almost as if it was instinctive, he felt that even underneath his blindfold he had succeeded in some way. That it hit someone. But who the hell did he hit? He hoped it wasn't his duelling partner(s) because that would be unsportsmanship-like of him wouldn't it?

It kept running through his head as he kept trying to figure out who was struck. Then it dawned on him.

After doing not-so-offensive spells, now it was his time for casting the offensive one. "Incendio Duo!" He cast the spell with wand pointed at his opponent, Christopher. Fire was conjured from his wand and hit Christopher. "Fire!" he whispered. A smirk could be seen on his face. But the next thing happened to him is another Flipendo. "Argh!" he exclaimed as the spell hit him.

Christopher was really tired of being set on fire. It's like the bird brains didn't know any other spells than incendio. Here, there, and everywhere, it felt like he was just avoiding fire all of the time. He did not like it and more importantly, he was starting to feel a little peaky. They really needed to turn the tide or this wasn't going to go much longer. He tried to focus himself one more and summon a suitable riposte.

Bea watched as her spell split, a satisfied little huff leaving her as it hit. Well, one of the targets at least. One side of her spell went too far outwards, easily dodged by her opponent. How annoying! Her gaze solely on her own spell, she failed to realise in time that Christopher had split his own spell, the exact same thing happening to him as it had her.

Her eyes blew wide as the spell hit her, and her lungs seized up with the impact. Standing up straight, wheezing, and with a certain air of disdain towards Christopher she turned to her teammates. Zach had been hit himself, but luckily Oliver had remained unscathed. "You two alright?"

The guest team decided that fighting fire with fire was the best option as both teams switched to some form of Incendio. Christopher chose ignoring the spells that burned at his sleeves in order to reciprocate an attack against Zach, this time only focusing one target while still missing half of his vision. It would be enough though, the spell grasping at anything flammable on the Ravenclaw and setting it ablaze before the fire died out- likely painful, but there would no residual embers to watch over.

Spell Splitting was no easy feat, and certainly not twice with one cast after the other, but Beatrice was here to prove her talents. While the spell properly split into two, it seemed keeping focus on two separate targets required a more strenuous attention that the Ravenclaw couldn't quite keep. The fire rushed past their shoulders, only a slight warmth and perhaps a warning yet no hit. Zach turned his attention over to Vladislav with his own Fire-Making Spell II although he wouldn't fare much better than his partner, the flame closer yet finding no grasp on the surprisingly nimble Koldovstoretz student.

He adjusted well to the blindfold, but now it was time to regain those senses as Vladislav worked to untie the knot. He would successfully, finally able to see his friends and opponents once more as the three Ravenclaws stayed standing versus the two guests with a thunderous storm overhead. The strikes grew ever so slowly closer to Christopher, but neither hit as the flashes of light dissipated back into the cloud with a grumble.

As he finally removed the stupid blindfold from his face, he felt like he had the need and the desire to cheer. It was a bit scary doing things in the dark, and Vladislav definitely wasn't that kind of person. So what now? His partner was being pummeled with spells and that was terrifying... yes, but what could he do?

"I'm okay," Zach answered Beatrice. He stood back and got ready for his next action. He came up with Incendio Duo, following his senior. "Incendio Duo!" A big flame was conjured from his wand to Vladislav. However, Incendio Duo was still too much for Zach to handle. He lost focus and missed his target. Not only that, Zach was also hit by Incendio, and from the trace of the light, he knew it was from Christopher. With a reflect, Zach turned his back to protect his face and torso, making his back open to the fire. The boy really wanted to cry. He was very exhausted and didn't know what to do next.

Bea nodded at Zach, glad that he hadn't been knocked around too bad. Bea watched as her spell split. Satisfaction rolled in like a basking in the sunlight. Smooth and sure and deliciously good. Unfortunately that was to end as the both of her spells missed her targets completely. Zach's too. A proud little thrill went through her as she watched these younger duellists square off, even if the spells weren't hitting. Nerves were the best of them all. She scowled at the interlopers in thought. These guests were gaining the upper-hand. This just wouldn't do! The Ravenclaw team wasn't called the Murder of Merlin for nothing!

Christopher was starting to get what he'd only ever heard described by boxers as "punch drunk". He had just taken too many hits in such rapid succession that he wasn't sure he'd be able to shake the next one off. He certainly wasn't going to give up but things were really looking quite bad for his team. He tried to look inside himself to find the resolve he needed to push forward. It was there, for now, but he knew he was reaching the end of the fight. He just had to try and strike a decisive blow before he went down himself.
