The first years were all led into the center of a grand room, known as the 'Great Hall'.

So this is the Great Hall. I must admit, it's not terrible... Ooh, the ceiling is enchanted to change... Galadriel was having a hard time trying to stay impassive, due to the grandeur the Great Hall displayed.

Around the first years, the other years had already been seated and were chattering excitedly, sharing their experiences from over the summer and catching up with friends.

The talk slowly subsided as the Headmaster made his way towards the front of the room.

How curious. He's limping. Galadriel immediately observed as the man approached the podium. Also, why is this guy wearing armor? Isn't it like, really heavy and hot being under all that stuff? That's probably why he's limping, I mean, who wouldn't limp if you had to carry that around all day?

After getting so immersed in poking fun at the Headmaster's wardrobe choice, Galadriel missed his introduction. And then- and then the hat spoke. It probably wasn't too rare for something to speak, if it were charmed, you know. But the hat was apparently sentient.

Galadriel immediately fixed her face, as it had accidentally morphed into one gaping in surprise.

The hat jived at the Headmaster, causing Galadriel's attempted poker-face to break once more. This hat was giving sass to the Headmaster, and the Headmaster hasn't charmed its personality away? There definitely must be something special about the hat.

As Galadriel attempted to discern what was so special about the hat, she completely missed what the Headmaster said. Something about having the hat get put on your head.

"Aarakor, Galadriel!" One of the professors shouted. Immediately, eyes were on Galadriel, watching her, judging her-.

Cut it out, stop watching me you creeps. Galadriel grumbled to herself as she stepped in front of the crowd. Great. Just great. Why did her last name have to start with two 'A's, and why did they have to call people up alphabetically by their last names?

Apparently, she was supposed to sit on a stool, smack dab in front of the entire school. I better not screw this up... Galadriel worried mentally.

The hat started getting lowered on her head, and then-.

"Slytherin!" The hat screamed. It hadn't even touched her head.

The hall erupted into talking. She caught people glancing at her as she made her way over to the Slytherin table. Wait, is it not normal to get sorted before the hat touches your head...?

Aries walked into the Great Hall clutching her letter in her hand. What if I get Hufflepuff she thought to herself. What if I get anything other than Slytherin? I shall be doomed. Her pureblood mother specificcally told her that she descended from a family of Slytherins. Aries was very nervous as she waited for her name to be called. The sorting had just begun singing its song. "Hello, you must be worried too. I am as well but now that you are here, we can be friends!" Who is she? Aries thought, but externally she replied, "Haha, yeah!" She took a few deep breaths. Aries knew that she wasn't going to be in Hufflepuff, she just didn't value those traits. What she did value was bravery, knowlegde, ambition nd a little bit of power. "ARIES STRXWBERRY " the sorting hat called. Oh wow, its actually happening! Aries thought to herself, atleast thats what she thought but she definitely said it out loud. She gently paced over to the stool, and wore the hat. Hmmmm the sorting hat whispered to her. Would you... no you wouldn't. GRYFFINDOR the hat yelled. The Gryffindor table cheered and yelled as I walked over. This new girl, Topaz was called next. TOPAZ NOVEMBER! This time the hat thought for a while before screaming SLYTHERIN. Topaz's jaw dropped and she bit her lip to stop crying. This is not what i expected she mumbled pretty loudly. Oh no!

I knew I'd be at Hufflepuff. Violet was. So were Mom and Dad. My mind was already in the dorms. My body wasn't, but I knew it would be. Soon. When I tried on my uniform for the first time, I knew it would soon have yellow stitching. With my collar clutched tightly in my hand, I was literally on the verge of fainting from fear. What if I walked into another house? I couldn't. I wouldn't. When I heard my name, I was so excited, but also so nervous. I knew the house wouldn't determine who I was, but if I ended up in Slytherin? I'd hate myself.

There I was, the hat on my messy, braided hair. I still had my atebas from that summer. Violet, at the Hufflepuff table, was smiling at me, one of hers in her hand. Seeing her made me feel better. In a minute, I'd be sitting with her. But too focused on my hopes, I didn't hear the sorting hat. I knew what it was. I knew it by looking at my sister's face. Slytherin. Suddenly, my legs couldn't move. My mouth couldn't smile, my eyes couldn't see. I was dead.

Many insistent looks persuaded me to move my legs faster. And so I did. I got up, walked over to the green table and sat down. And I cried.

It was a long journey to get from his home in the countryside to Hogwarts but that did not dampen Charles' spirits. He was excited to start this new journey in his life to go where his parents have been and learn new things and meet fun people. Standing in the throng of first years he could barely pick out Solomon Lear and the house heads but he could hear the speech Solomon gave just fine. He thought the armor that the Headmaster wore was a bit odd but then again where he was raised anyone not covered in dirt and plant matter were odd. It was at this point that names were being called to be sorted and all Charles had to do was wait his turn.

Then it came "Charles McGraw!" Charles popped up and started making his way to the front of the hall to Solomon and the sorting hat. His heart pounding with excitement Charles was ready to have a new place to call home. He had a feeling he'd end up in Ravenclaw like his parents but he didn't care where he ended up as long as he learned new things and has fun. As he approached the chair he gave a light smile and nod to Solomon and sat down nearly shaking with anticipation.

The sorting hat was placed on his head and he felt it look through his heart and mind and after a few wiggle and a grumble or two it decided, "Ravenclaw!" Relief washed over Charles as he finally knew where he'd belong over the coming years and he giddily stood up and thanked the hat and Solomon. Charles then turned and walked the the Ravenclaw table ready to meet his new family.

Amid the anticipation of her first year, Delilah stood in the Great Hall during the Sorting Ceremony. Her frizzy blond hair framed a face filled with a blend of excitement and curiosity, her eyes scanning the magical atmosphere. The hall echoed with whispers and enchantment, and her heart raced as her turn approached.
"Delilah Chapman !" When the Sorting Hat's voice rang out, Delilah's attention snapped forward. She didn't care what house she would be sorted in. Delilah's indifference to the Sorting wasn't about lack of interest; it was a testament to her belief in the journey beyond the Sorting Hat's choice. For her, Hogwarts was a canvas waiting to be painted with her unapologetic, messy, and utterly unique spirit. Whether Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or Slytherin, she was ready to embrace the magical adventure that awaited her.As the hat settled onto her head, its touch against her wild curls was oddly comforting. Delilah's gaze wandered around the Great Hall, taking in the various houses and their eager faces. Yet, there was something different about her expression—a lack of apprehension, a distinct absence of anxiety.
" Ah, Chapman's sister! But you're different, a spirited soul, brimming with courage and a sense of adventure," the Sorting Hat mused, its voice a whisper within her mind. "But also the unbothered attitude of Slytherin."
As the Sorting Hat debated, her thoughts drifted to the conversations she'd had on the train,
When the Sorting Hat finally declared "Gryffindor," Delilah's smile was genuine, unburdened by the weight of expectations. She took her place at the cheering Gryffindor table, a sense of belonging that transcended labels.

She walked in moon Dust, and Stars were sprinkled in her Hair...

Paislee stood in a line, alone, awaiting her doom. Well, not doom, but her biggest fear at the moment, which she classified as doom. Generations of family expectations weighted down on her like a heavy burden.

The doors to the Great Hall opened and the first years got their first view of the Great Hall. Paislee catches the eye of her older brother, seventh year Mason, sitting beside his twin, Max, and wishes she hadn't. His expectations, his hopes, are written all over his face. He's a Hufflepuff. Just like the rest of his family. A perfect, perfect child.

The names are called as, one by one, first years walk up to the stool. Paislee breaks into a cold sweat. She shivers and her hands shake.

Why am I so scared? she asks herself.

"Johnson, Paislee!"

It was here. Her moment. Paislee hesitated, and then stepped up and sat on the stool. The hat was placed on her head. Silent.

Paislee was terrified. She knew that the look on her face said everything. And then finally, it spoke.

"Ahh," the hat said. "Another Johnson."

Paislee gave a little nod.

"Lots of Hufflepuffs in this family, am I right?" the hat said. "I remember your parents. Perfect kids, they were. And still are."

Paislee nervously clenched her hands.

"And siblings. Oh, I remember them. Four older siblings. Perfect Jenna. Thoughtful Maddie. Wise Mason. And hardworking Max."

Paislee was worried. She'd never heard anybody say the hat remembered their family.

"HUFFLEPUFF!!!!"

Paislee Johnson
