H Is For Homework, Which We’re Not Gonna Do
“Hmph.” Renelle glared at her friend, still rather pissed, though at least she wasn’t dunking the squirrel now, giving it a rare breathing moment. There was definitely no love lost between her and the animal, but she had to grudging admit, drowning it would be a bit too much.
“Fine.” Thrusting the still-frozen squirrel at Astra, the Ravenclaw waited by the side impatiently, tapping her foot. “And by the way, you probably volunteered me for a duel to the death or something. Knowing your skill at animal languages.” Sadly, this was not the first time Astra had attempted to communicate with random wild critters, all of those instances ending disastrously.
The moment Astra cast the counter spell, causing the squirrel to suddenly come back to life (which was rather unnerving, considering their history), Renelle grabbed the animal by its giant bushy tail, carefully keeping it a safe distance from her face, and flung it as far as she could into the Great Lake.
Letting out a huge breath, Renelle sat down, easing into the crunchy leaves below. “Squirrels can swim, right?” Not that she would go after it even if it couldn’t. It was a squirrel, for god’s sake. If living in the wild its entire life didn’t give it some basic survival knowledge, well, the first year was a big believer of the phrase ‘survival of the strongest.’
At any rate, homework was certainly not on her mind right now. Rebelled sat up again, looking at Astra. “At least one good thing came out do this- when my professors ask me why I don’t have my homework on Monday, I can say I almost died. If that doesn’t sway them, I don’t know what will.”Interacting with @Astra Norrick

Others: BoldAstra could tell Renelle was reluctant to spare the rodent but she was thankful that her friend shoved the petrified beast into her arms. "Hey, at least this time it wasn't a mating call I accidentally replicated," she defended as Renelle pointed out what she could have said. "Finite Incantatem," she cast as quickly as she could before Renelle chucked the creature into the lake. Astra was unsurprised at her friend's vengefulness, but was once again reminded to thank God that they were friends and not enemies.
"I hope so," Astra answered to the swimming question, sitting beside Renelle. Of course, survival of the fittest, and she never wanted to see that particular squirrel again, but she didn't want it to die because of them.
She raised her eyebrows as her friend described this brilliant excuse for not doing the homework. Astra then began to laugh. "And you almost became a were-squirrel," she said in a ridiculous tone. "Like a werewolf, except every half moon you turn into a squirrel and go on the hunt for nuts."
The mention of homework, however, brings to mind their essays laying out for the taking, and the books open on the grass. "Maybe we should go put our stuff up before we get into any more crazy stuff. Especially before taking on another squirrel."

H Is For Homework, Which We’re Not Gonna Do
Renelle listened to her friend silently, face thoughtful. “I know you’re joking, but that would actually make a lot of sense.” she said seriously, after Astra finished. She paused for a moment. “And being a were-squirrel honestly wouldn’t be that bad. I mean, every month after I turn, I’d have an endless supply of nuts!” Who wouldn’t want that? Way better than being were-wolf, if she did say so herself.
However, her mood was almost instantly ruined by Astra’s mention of homework. Making a face, Renelle jumped up, quickly gathering all her things and sweeping them into her bag. “Yes. Let’s. It’s dangerous out here. We could get attacked by a rapid beast in the blink of an eye, and I don’t think I’d survive two squirrels mauling me in a day.”
As the Ravenclaw caught sight of all that blank parchment in her bag, her heart help but sink a little. God, there was still so much she needed to do. On the bright side, they’d at least finished one assignment. That was something.
She glanced up at Hogwarts castle, looming over them a fair distance away. “So do we put away our stuff and then meet back here again? Or do we go our separate ways? Or go do something else? Or- oh, wait!” Suddenly, Renelle’s face lit up in a very excited expression. “How about we hide in the corners of corridors and jump out at people! Fun, right?”

Others: BoldAstra hadn't considered that being a were-squirrel could be so, well, pleasant sounding. "Yeah, you're right," she said, nodding along to Renelle's words. "Imagine it, all those big bad werewolves finding out that they're not the only ones who become fearsome beasts once every month" The prospect was so ridiculous she couldn't help the bemused look on her face.
Astra frowned at Renelle's salty look as they went to grab their homework. "We're not gonna do any more of it, silly, we're just gonna make sure our hard work doesn't get stolen. I mean do you really want such exquisite pieces to be turned in by another?" She infused the very essence of theatrics into her voice, causing Renelle to crack a smile. "I don't wanna have to do it again either. Gah, it took so long."
Astra's eyes lit up at Renelle's genius suggestion. "A genius idea, my friend. This is why you are in Ravenclaw. An afternoon of jumpscaring people it is!" The two started back towards the castle. "Meet you in the Great Hall, I suppose? Or the unused classroom? Oh, and we're definitely targeting Gryffindors, right? And scaring the absolute crap out of Rod if we see him. No mercy."
