Castor was taken off the dueling piste to be helped, and Jake watched her go. There seemed to be a bit of a lull after the very explosive start. Maybe some of the duellists were a bit stunned by what had just happened...Jake knew HE sure was.
But that couldn't last forever. And Axel was brave...Jake was impressed when he saw the look on his face. Axel wasn't going to give up without a fight, even though one of his partners had fallen and another had seemingly froze. But if only his wand would cooperate...
Though the boy was brave and trying, his wand just didn't want to cast...the spell he intended to cast at Hui-Ming didn't go off, and two knockback jinxes came speeding for him at just that very moment. Axel would duck away from one just in the nick of time, showing impressive agility, but there was a numbers advantage, and he couldn't avoid both. One of those spells would connect and drive him backwards.
But the boy would remain on his feet. if he hadn't given up yet, Jake had a feeling he wasn't going to give up at all.I N F O R M A T I O N

- All was going well, though this round didn't end up perfectly, it seemed that there was no stopping the snakes at this point. Monica was becoming overly confident, hopefully it wouldn't blow up in her face, but getting just a taste of victory was always so sweet, it over took her senses and left her a husk of nothing but the thirst for victory! Her and Guin aimed true, though credit given where it's due, the boy managed to avoid Monica's teammate, but her jinx it true, and knocked him off his feet. Ming seemed to be out of it this round, "Common guys!" Monica called out, "This is no time to let our guard down!"| Action |

At the same time, Monica and her had casted knockback jinxes towards Axel, their only opponent who seemed to be actively in the game. Monica had no trouble hitting the boy, but her spell whooshed just past. Crap, she thought. At Monica's other side, Ming had seemed to fail to conjure anything up from his wand.
At Monica's call, she straightened up. Even though victory seemed quite sure, there was still enough time for the tables to turn.

A flash of distaste became a moment's hesitation and then built into something more.
This could hardly be called a duel, a clash of abilities and willpower. It was hardly more than a glorified game of whack-a-mole, where his esteemed opposition stood by and did nothing as they were taken down methodically by his snakes.
Hui-Ming should have been proud. But all he felt was distaste.
"Mr. Morris" he said slowly to the moderator; even as his wand spun in his hand. "I would recommend we end this farce of a match before our guests get.....hurt."]
*Please note the call to end the match is for RP purposes, as only members of the opposite team can decide when to forfeit.Action: As strategized by the team || Asking @Jake Morris to call this one-sided match to prevent actual injuries

Whatever hope Axel had of getting back at the opposing team was starting to fade. His wand just wasn't working, and it was making him mad. He was also angry with Kamila for freezing in fear, and he'd be sure to let her have it when this pathetic excuse for a duel was over. As for Castor, he knew she at least tried, and he'd check up on her when this was over if he wasn't crumpled over on the ground unconscious himself. For now, he was still awake and of sound mind, just a bit winded from the hit he took.
He eased back onto his feet with a grunt, his mind attempting to conjure up something in hopes of his wand finally cooperating and doing something good for his team.

"Huh...?" Jake asked, looking up at Hui-Ming. He'd been looking over duels for two years now, and nobody had ever asked him anything like that before. "But...." Jake hesitated.
It was true that the duel was one-sided. Kamila had frozen, and Axel was fighting bravely against three snakes. Valiantly, without quit... but could it be enough?
Jake had seen duels that looked like they were over. He'd seen duels where all he'd wanted to DO was stop the match before somebody got hurt. He'd seen people set on fire, struck by lightning...sometimes even TWICE. He held on because he knew duellists were just different, and because he'd been through it himself as a duellist and he knew he wouldn't want anybody to stop it because of what it would make him feel like (or, more like what others would think of him). But wasn't it his job as a duel captain and as a prefect to do what was right, whether people wanted him to or not? To do what was for their own good, even if they didn't like it?
But how could you really tell when a duel WAS over? Miracles could happen. He knew that you could never say a duel was over until it was over. And how did he know when the point of no return had been crossed? What if Axel still had it in him to make a comeback, a three-vs-one victory that he would be telling his friends about for ages? If Jake acted too quickly it would take that away from him, and he'd get blamed, both by Axel and Kamila and by everybody from the other schools. But if he acted too slowly... There was something chilling in the words Hui-Ming had said. Jake knew that no matter what happened, the Slytherins weren't going to hold back. His hand twitched on his wand.
But Axel's face was still gritted with determination. He didn't show any signs of doubt or wavering. Jake swallowed. "I...I can't just..." Jake started, not knowing how to respond to such a novel request, but part of him did want to...
But there was no more time. The Slytherins made good on their promise. Axel bravely fought on, a true warrior. His smoke screen came up fast but the Slytherin's were faster, and a barrage of spells rocketed into the boy one by one. Two knockback jinxes and a fire spell would blast the boy off of his feet. He would sail through the air, and land on his back with a thud. He did not move again.
"Stop, let him off! Jake cried out quickly, his heart sinking as he stared at the fallen boy, waiting for him to get medical assistance. At least Jake was able to extinguish the flames with Axel taken out of the battle. Why did they have to do three on three duels? In that moment, Jake hated them. Too many spells flying at once...Just too many. And maybe Jake wondered what would have happened if he had just stopped it....
Just then, his eyes rose up, and he began to realize what he was looking at...three Slytherins...and one girl who had yet to move.....Jake took a step forward.I N F O R M A T I O N

A beat, and then another. Mr Morris did not step in.
A sigh, belying the burning deep-seated anger that was consuming him. The old frustrations of the first year rushed back to him.
What was the POINT of all of this? He had thought it had been like any other sport, a demonstration par excellence of their learning ability, a means to learn to handle complex and challenging situations and keep oneself and one's allies safe.
Not this caricature of competition with bullheaded determination in place of a plan, no tactics or coordination to speak of, and a moderator who simply refused to step in when this stopped being a competition and started becoming bullying.
They needed a demonstration of exactly why he had asked for a stop. "Very well," he murmured to himself. "A demonstration it is."
With ease of practice, the Slytherin captain sent a fire-making spell at Axel at the same time that his snakes unleashed a volley at that last bastion of resistance. Hui-Ming watched, stoic, as the boy collapsed. A distant part of him wondered if that was overkill. A louder part retorted that if @Jake Morris had wanted this duel to stop, he would have called for it.
Instead, he had only asked that the boy be left alone, which meant.
Fang Hui-Ming turned his attention towards the only remaining duellist left to challenge them in this duel -- a Koldovstoretz witch who'd been content to sit by and let her team be annihilated by a better-coordinated group of wizards.
"And then, there was one." He slowly stepped towards the remaining duellist. Was it protocol? No. But then this duel had stopped being a duel proper ages ago.
It would perhaps be sufficient to disarm the girl and call the farce quits. But what good would that do? There would inevitably be another circus like this in the next few months; the spectacle all but forgotten once the Hospital Wing ran its magic. No. What was needed would be something slower and more painful. To drive home the message that something like this was not acceptable.
"Tell me," he asked the foreigner, as he took another step in her direction. "Does it make you feel big knowing that you're still standing when they're not? Did you think, perhaps, that Slytherin would look kindly upon your betrayal of your partners?"
"Or was your intention to beat us three-on-one and demonstrate your mettle?" There was an edge to his voice, his fingers tense like a snake coiled to strike. "A cowardly and unworthy display. But I'll bite"
He had about halved the gap between himself by then, and still, the duel was not called. Was anyone in the administration even thinking? "Show me what you can do, then. ENGORGIO"

Jake had tried to wait as long as he could. But seeing what had happened to Axel, he felt a wrenching in his stomach and couldn't bear it anymore. Kamila hadn't moved yet. This was going to be a slaughter. If the other schools got mad at him they would just have to get mad at him. What happened to Axel was HIS fault... The sight of the boy's body hitting the ground played back in his head. He couldn't let it happen again.
"Ok ok that's enough that's it that's it! Everybody STOP!!" the Hufflepuff shouted. It was probably the loudest Jake had ever been, the usually quiet boy unable to take it anymore, the stress bleeding out of his voice. His hands were shaking.
His words came just as Ming cast Engorgio at Kamila. Though her hand enlarged (Why? Did he want her wand to grow with her hand? Did he think a bigger hand would be stronger?) Jake was not about to allow any of the fighting Ming asked for to happen. He just couldn't. He hurried forward to the middle of the duelling piste.

"This duel is over, because the guest team can no longer fight." Jake said, his voice quivering but remaining clear, luckily not stumbling over his own words. He mustered up any little bit of commanding aura he had inside of him, grateful for what practice he'd had as a prefect.
"No more casting, it's over," he said, spreading his arms, standing in between the two teams. He didn't trust the Slytherins to hear him in time and making sure to stand in between them and their opponent was the only way to be sure that nobody else would cast...or so he hoped. "The Slytherins win." Jake said, looking back to Kamila apologetically and hoping she would understand he was only trying to help....
SLYTHERIN WINS!
