Late again!
Fern ran into the Potions class, she was almost 10 minutes late. Note to self: I neeeeed to be more organised she thought. Today they were supposed to be brewing the Forgetfulness Potion. Fern fell into her seat, actually fell, her bag crashing onto the floor with a loud BANG. Everyone in the class jumped, and Fern blushed, but she wasn't actually embarrassed. "Oops, sorry everyone," she said loudly.
Fern organised her stuff on the desk, zoning out as the professor explained how to brew the Forgetfulness Potion.
"You have 1 hour... and your time starts now," the professor's voice cut through Fern's daydreaming mind. Oh dammit, what are we supposed to be doing again? Fern wondered. With a peek at her desk partner's book, she saw the page Forgetfulness Potion.
Fern sighed and turned her book to page 316. How the heck am I supposed to do this?? she shrugged. Oh well, I can just give it a crack.
Fern started throwing the ingredients of the Potion into har cauldron in a random order. She lit the fire. BANG!! There was a loud explosion sound and suddenly Fern was covered in her potion, if it could be called that. She had charcoal on her face and streaks of it in her hair. She noticed her desk partner looking at her curiously.

Late again!
Interacting with @Fern SorrowsIf there was one thing Astra liked about Muggle school, it was chemistry. She loved using the beakers and burners and watching the reaction between two natural elements. It was logical, something her brain could process easily, and it was useful for a scientist. And a scientist is what Astra dreamed of being.
Today they were brewing the Forgetfulness Potion, one Astra had been looking forward to ever since Professor Regan had mentioned it in lesson.
She waved her wand over the potion and brought out her book. It was a collection of poetry. Astra found she quite liked poetry. She was settling down to wait about fifty minutes, letting the Valerian sprigs steep in the water from the River Lethe. Low chatter circulated throughout the room.
Suddenly, the empty spot next to Astra was filled with what appeared to be a blonde ball of chaos, a loud noise resounding through the classroom as a bag dropped to the floor. Astra's eyes widened and she glared towards the spot, quite miffed. And it's a Gryffindor... she thought with an internal groan. Sure, she had met two nice Gryffindors, but one was a kindred spirit in a sense and the other was just... well she was just unlike anyone Astra had ever met.
This Gryf, though, reminded her of Roderick: loud and careless.
The blonde girl apologized, and seemed to zone out. Yep, just like Rod would. Astra shook her head, returning to her book.
A few minutes later, she was shaken from her focus again by yet another bang from beside her. Taking a deep breath and pursing her lips together, her eyes wide in an effort not to glare, she whirled on the girl. The blonde's face and hair were streaked in soot from where her potion had exploded.
"What on God's green earth did you do to make it explode like that?" she asked in a slightly strained voice. "Some of us are actually trying to successfully complete the assignment in peace."

Late again!
The loud bang shocked Fern, and soot exploded all over her face and hair.
"What on God's green earth did you do to make it explode like that?"The girl sitting next to Fern asked. Fern saw the colour of her tie and thought Oh, she's a Slytherin. But who cares. Maybe she's friendly?"Some of us are actually trying to successfully complete the assignment in peace."
Fern grinned and tried (quite unsuccessfully) to wipe the soot off her face. Actually, that's a really valid question... what on earth DID I put in that??? Hmm.... maybe I've invented a new potion? Fern looked hopefully into her cauldron. Nope, no new potion.. only a chunk of soot she sighed. Oh well.
Fern looked at the Slytherin girl's potion, which looked exactly like the picture in the textbook. Hmmmmmm... a Slytherin... well, maybe she's nice? She looks smart, too. Maybe I should ask her where I went wrong. Oh waaaaaiiiiit, she's the one who asked ME. Fern laughed to herself. But still, I can't just not answer-
"Hi! Sorry about the mess... I hope you don't mind not working in peace, because me and peace do NOT get along well. To answer your question, I have no clue what I put in my potion. I don't think I'm going to work with potions with I'm older," she said brightly. "What about you??"

Interacting with @Fern SorrowsThe blonde smiled. Astra found her eyes rolling instinctively as the girl answered in a bubbly manner. "Hi! Sorry about the mess! I hope you don't mind not working in peace, because me and peace do NOT get along well," the girl laughed.
"Well that's obvious," she muttered under her breath, too quiet for anyone but herself to hear. Astra shook her head and turned back to her book of poems.
Her focus broke again, this time of her own accord, realizing the girl may need some help after exploding her potion like that. And while she was already starting to find this Gryffindor annoying, she didn't want to see her fail the lesson. After all, she could have just been scatterbrained because she was late. "Do you need ingredients? I have some extra, enough to make another batch. Just don't blow it up this time."
And maybe actually read what you're supposed to do. Or listen to the professor. That's usually a good idea. She was lucky to be blessed with a poker face, otherwise a smirk would be plastered onto her face and the girl beside her would likely be offended. Not like it matters, I doubt she'd be a formidable adversary. Oh, shut up brain. Focus on your potion.

"Do you need ingredients? I have some extra, enough to make another batch. Just don't blow it up this time."
"Oh my goodness, you are a lifesaver!" Fern replied energetically. "I know I made a total mess, but I can't believe you're not even mad at me. You're the best! Let's get this potion made and see if we can make it sparkle or something. I mean, I don't even know if it's possible... but what's the harm in trying?" Only another explosion... Fern mused, laughing inwardly. She said all this very fast, her voice full of enthusiasm for the task at hand. Despite the carelessness of her previous actions, she was unphased by the explosion mistake and was full of excitement for the opportunity to try again. This Slytherin is kinda nice- I guess they're not all nasty. Now, what was I doing? Oh yeah... Potions. I mean, I should probably read the textbook, Fern peeped at her textbook, seeing all the instructions written in bold, and thought oh goodness this looks soooooo boring... what's the fun in a perfectly brewed potion? Someone's already done it before you- I'd much rather try something new- but wait... Fern glanced at the Slytherin next to her. She seems very focussed- I don't want to disturb her anymore than I already have- I guess I'd better try to be a good student, she thought.

Others: Bold"Oh my goodness, you are a lifesaver!" the girl prattled on in her energetic tone. Astra offered a thin smile before taking the ingredients out of her bag. Her mouth moved faster than anything Astra had ever seen. Not mad at her, no, simply very irritated. Astra found herself thinking about ways to make the Gryffindor shut up, but most of them involved knocking her out, which would likely earn Astra a detention. Making a forgetfulness potion... sparkle? she thought with a heaping dose of confusion. She chose to keep her response short.
"Maybe," she said with a shrug. She checked the time. Still forty minutes until she could do anything else with the potion. And Astra severely doubted she'd get to read very much. For fear of another explosion, she kept one eye on the Gryffindor's potion.
I wonder if she's ever taken a chemistry class before. She doesn't look like she knows what she's doing at all. Astra knows Professor Regan went over this in the very first lesson of class, but she highly doubted the girl had heard. "You've got to follow the directions exactly, or else you'll end up with something you didn't want." Like an explosion. Or poison. The thought of the blonde beside her accidentally brewing a poison was unsurprising. She's probably so scattered that she'd drink it on accident.
The thought was amusing, but Astra refused to dwell on such things while around people. Her cauldron bubbled tranquilly as the Valerian sprigs continued to steep. Astra read a few more pages, tensely anticipating the moment when she was sure peace would be disturbed again.@Fern Sorrows

Late again!
Sophia was trying to forcus on what the professor was saying when someone entered dropping their bag on the ground, it made a loud noise and Sophia looked back only to realise that it was some Grif that was late. "Oops, sorry everyone," The girl said before sitting, turning back towards the professor Sophia rolled their eyes but continued taking notes on some of the important details of what the professor was saying about the forgetfulness potion. They were given an hour to finish the potion so Sophia went to work, they could have used magic but they wanted to be more precise so they quickly got to work on their ingredients. When Sophia was done they had to leave it to simmer, leaning back in their chair they cleaned the equipment they already used before carefully putting it away but suddenly there was a loud bang. Looking behind them, again, Sophia almost snorted at what they saw the poor Grif had caused an explosion, they were probably careless and didn't understand the art of potions. Again Sophia went back to her own work pulling out some extra potions reading Sophia tried to relax but the people behind them made it very difficult to focus turning around in their seat ready to tell the two to keep quiet when they saw what the Grif was doing. Frowning Sophia observed the strange way the girl was doing potions and raised an eyebrow in amusement as the girl made some little mistakes that could cause an explosion. Just when they went to turn back around they noticed that the girl was gonna cause another explosion. "I would not do that if I were you." Sophia said as they watched the Grif to see if she'll listen.

Others: BoldAstra had let her attention slip, and was brought back to reality by an angry bubbling sound. Glancing back at her own cauldron in fear, she saw nothing was amiss. And then she looked at the Gryff.
"I would not do that if I were you," a masculine blond Slytherin said from in front of the two. Astra quickly snatched the remaining ingredients from the Gryffindor, slipping over to her side of the desk.
"Merlin, would you just listen?" she hissed, looking into the girl's cauldron. Thankfully, there was no current danger of explosion. "What are you thinking, trying to put everything together at once? Haven't you already caused enough explosions?" Astra kept her voice low as she berated the girl, highly irked and with no mercy left. "It's right here in the book, see? Just read what to do. You don't have to like it. Don't. Explode. Anything. Else. It's unnecessary and annoying."
Astra took a deep breath, returning to her own cauldron. There were about thirty-five minutes left. Why is time crawling?
She nodded to the Slytherin sitting at the desk in front of her. "Thanks, I should've been paying more attention," she whispered, watching the Gryffindor girl with both eyes now. Making sure the person in question couldn't hear, she leaned in closely and dropped her voice to it's lowest decibel. "It's like watching a golden retriever puppy."

Sophia chuckled lightly at the scene that followed their comment, the Gryf got berated by their 'desk buddy' at their intelligent decision of throwing the ingredients in all at the same time. "The Gryf is definitely failing potions with that mindset" Sophia thought frowning slightly before shaking their head and looking at their own 'desk buddy', happy that they weren't like that. "Thanks, I should've been paying more attention." The Slytherin girl said and Sophia chuckled slightly. "It's like watching a golden retriever puppy." She said lowering her voice and Sophia coughed to cover their laughter. "Don't worry, someone like that needs twenty people watching them to make sure they don't make a mistake." Sophia said back in the same voice also keeping an eye on the Gryf as they weren't in the mood for another explosion. "Are you at least done with your potion, wouldnt want you to slip because of someone else." Sophia said raising an eyebrow and looking at her curiously, it sure looked like she was done and the book lying on the table just confirms Sophia's suspicion. "Never mind, you're clearly finished so I'll just help you keep an eye on her so you can enjoy your book and so she doesn't disturb anyone with another loud noise." Sophia said smiling slightly but most would call it smirking but who cares? With this, they looked back at the Gryf wondering what was going through her head and why she was doing everything so... sloppy. "Is that even the right word?" Shruggin Sophia decided to just be grateful there wasn't another explosion.... "Yet" Their mind supplied probably jinxing it.

Aigle who was sitting next to Sophia or as they like to be called Kiran, trying not to laugh at some of the comments Kiran was making under their breath as the two behind them went on with their conversation, "If you can even call it that." When they heard Kiran saying, "I would not do that if I was you." Aigle covered their ears discreetly ready for another explosion but to their surprise, one didn't happen there were a series of angry whispers so Aigle just went back to reading about different potion ingredients and what they would do when added to a potion. When they heard Kiran caught they looked at them confused but their following words towards the Slytherin girl behind them gave Aigle the impression that the girl had said something funny. "Don't worry, someone like that needs twenty people watching them to make sure they don't make a mistake." Kiran said making Aigle snort softly but they knew it was true as reckless people are quite unpredictable and you would need like a million people to make sure they don't do something stupid. Aigle continued to listen to the conversation and laughed softly when Kiran said the girl could continue reading and they'll watch over the 'explosion master'. "You think she'll be able to ever go back to her book after the kid almost blew up another cauldron? I don't think so as I am not keen on another explosion." Aigle said as they looked at the book the girl was reading. "Poetry for the Soul, is a good book if you're looking for some good poetry. I've read it once but unfortunately, I lost it. Aigle said curious as to the girl's opinion of the book. I'm Aigle by the way and their Sophia. Aigle said as an afterthought gesturing to themself and Kiran.
