Axyen was planning a party of sorts, though he didn't have much of an idea of how he would get invitations, but he would figure it out... eventually. Axyen had a new empty notebook, and was drawing cartoony bats, they had spread out wings, with shades of grey on the wing as an attempt to add some kind of detail to the bat. The bats had red eyes, with a black circle in the middle to represent a pupil. There were red lines along the wings to make the bat feel more lively, it was outline to look slightly silly as to not somehow scare somebody. Better safe opposed to sorry. Axyen thought to himself as he was drawing the bat. Axyen grabbed some scissors and carefully cut around the edges of each bat, Axyen took around 20 minutes to finish off the bats as he wanted them to look perfect. Axyen sighed, this was going to be more exhausting than he imagined. He turned to a new page, thinking of what else to add, maybe poster wouldn't be so bad.

Axyen hoped nobody came, this party was meant to be a surprise. Axyen adored Halloween, although when people do Halloween pranks, or other scare tactics, it made Axyen more jumpy, which is why he was so jumpy, or that's the excuse he made for himself. Axyen paused for a moment, then continued drawing the poster, he was making the outline for a zombie.

Astra wandered into the study room with her History of Magic textbook in hand. Honestly, this was her least favorite class aside from Herbology. It was kind of boring in her opinion, but that's what you get when your dad is one of the biggest history buffs to ever exist. As for Herbology... let's just say Astra has never had much luck keeping anything but herself alive, and she even struggles with that every once in a while.

She sat at one of the tables with a sigh, setting out her notes and the textbook in a rainbow-esque shape. Only way to get it over with is to do it, she thought dejectedly. It's not going to be hard, you wimp. Just mind-numbingly boring. And to think any one of the Muggle kids she'd gone to school with would jump at the chance to learn all about goblins and gargoyles and the like.

She set to work for twenty minutes, and at first it was going great, until she noticed a boy at the table beside her. He was wearing Hufflepuff stuff, as well as a lot of black and yellow. He was hunched over a notebook with colored pencils and a pair of scissors beside him. He seemed to be drawing.

Astra kept one eye on Huffle and the other on her textbook, though eventually she found herself watching just the boy. Great heavens, that sounds so wrong.

A pile of paper cut outs had accumulated beside him, and Astra's curiosity once again got the best of her (though to be fair, she didn't really fight it this time). She crept over to the table, not really trying to be stealthy but definitely not making herself known, and studied the cut outs.

They were bats! Cute, cartoon ish bat with red eyes and veins in their black wings. A smile crept onto Astra's face. These were very well made, cut out with care.

The boy was currently drawing something else, but Astra didn't want to bother him, so she started to go back to her work. She stubbed her toe against the table leg, however, and let out a cry of pain (as well as a curse that shan't be repeated here for fear of her mum's wrath).

Axyen didn't notice that somebody was watching him as he was starting to finish the outline fo the zombie, creating the eyes, the mouth and whatnot. It was supposed to be an advertisement of sorts, though Axyen was trying to find a way to make it look appealing, he paused for a second, thinking. Axyen lifted up the pencil, which felt odd using considering how he never had any access to Muggle tools, however, the pencil could erase things(as Axyen learned in Transfiguration) which meant that Axyen could get rid of any mistakes which is why he used a pencil instead of his usual quill. Axyen began to draw a few Jack o' Lanterns on and then add a witch on a broomstick in the background with a wizard in the back as well.(This wasn't meant to be the stereotypical witches and wizard that were scary looking, it was meant to advertise a broom racing contest Axyen hoped to set up.) Axyen wrote near the top "SPOOKTACULAR-" Axyen wanted it to still remain Halloween-themed so he would need to think of something. "BROOM RACING CONTEST" Axyen smiled satisfied, although he wanted to add a disclaimer. "(No Brooms can be provided)" Axyen was once again happy, brooms were pretty expensive, or so he heard, and buying tons of brooms seemed quite expensive. Axyen thought for a moment, what if he made up a fake beast? Something silly, fun, something he could use as a story. He turned the page, and was getting ready to write his Halloween-themed story, until he heard something connect with the table leg, as well as a cry of pain. Axyen jumped and gasped at the same time out of shock. He was slightly panicked because this was supposed to be a surprise, second, he wasn't expecting it, he turned to meet a Slytherin girl.

Axyen did hope she was okay, even if he didn't know her. Axyen remembered what his brother Jacob had said during the summer. "Hey, are you okay?" Axyen asked. Luckily, Axyen didn't stutter at all. Axyen tapped his foot three times for a second, trying to remember what he was doing, right, the story, but he needed to finish the poster first. Axyen turned the page back to the unfinished, uncolored poster. Luckily it wasn't ruined(he forgot his pencil was not a quill.) Before turning back to the Slytherin, waiting for a reply of some kind.

The boy jumped a little and gasped. Astra gritted her teeth and hopped backward, grabbing her foot. Oh, Godric, it's the pinky toe too! This is why you should never wear open-toed shoes indoors, kids. "Hey, are you okay?" the Hufflepuff boy asked.

Astra took a deep breath before nodding. "Yeah, just hurts like the dickens," she says through her clenched jaw. Her toe throbbed. It was turning red already. "Thanks for asking."

She did what she could in the moment for her poor injured foot before placing it back on the ground. The boy had gone back to his drawings. Astra saw that it was a poster advertising a "spooktacular" broom race. "Isn't it a bit early for Halloween?" Astra asked. She liked the holiday ok, mostly for the chocolate and her family's costume parties, but had never started preparing for it as early as September. Heck, she usually didn't even have a costume till October 20th at the earliest. "I mean, I'm not judging or anything."

The drawings were really quite good, and Astra caught herself staring at them for much longer than she should have been. "You're a really good artist," she blurted, before her brain went into CODE EMBARRASSED mode and said Wow, that was awkward of you. Just go back to your homework so you can't mess this up any more.

The small part of her brain that actually liked herself spoke up, however, and said, It's true. He is a good artist. And you told him that. You gave him a compliment. You weren't in any sort of wrong. She must have looked strange, just standing there silent looking at the pencil sketches of this boy who she didn't know, with her poker face on full force and an internal war going on inside her.

Axyen nodded to show that he was listening as he heard the Slytherin girl confirm that she was okay, besides the fact that is still seemed like she was still hurt, but Axyen wasn't about to push the subject. Axyen paused for a minute, adding a shadow in the Forbidden Forest, which Axyen actually got from a small horror story he read from the library. The Bogeyman, which got Axyen addicted interested in horror. Axyen colored some of the trees in the Forbidden Forest and moved on to coloring the Jack O' Lanterns.

Axyen then paused when the girl asked another question. "Isn't it a bit early for Halloween?" The girl asked, Axyen paused thinking for a moment. "Well..." Axyen said, pausing for a second. "I love Halloween, and I like to prepare for things early... and the fact that I couldn't really wait." Axyen said. "But the party will happen in October, just like the normal spooky season!" Axyen decidedly added, he really did hope he sounded like an expert. Axyen only began reading about Halloween around 2 weeks ago, and has been reading more halloween-related content ever since, and seen picture books, history books, yet it felt like he hasn't scratched the surface of the subject.

Axyen blushed slightly as he didn't really expect a compliment on his art, but then again, he never really expects a compliment for anything. Axyen quickly realized he needed permission to actually set up the event, as there was still a long way to go when it came to setting this up this event. "So, uh..." Axyen said, thinking of the next thing to say. This is a lot more awkward than it needs to be Axyen, just... Axyen thought a bit more. Introduce yourself, this is a chance for another friend. Axyen then said. "Hey, I never caught your name, my name is Axyen, Axyen Dragonclaw." Axyen said. That went a lot better than expected. Axyen thought to himself.

Axyen nearly forgot about the poster and saw it in the corner of his eyes, he decided to add one more detail and place Dementors in the sky of the drawing, they were a nice touch to the drawing, or at least Axyen though so, Axyen decided he should really start coloring the poster, otherwise it might look too compacted. Axyen began to color the poster as he waited patiently for a response.

The boy, who Astra had just learned had one of the most epic names every, seemed to be rather shy. Running theme, it seems, Astra thought, thinking back on all the people she's met so far. Besides Cassi, Astra's probably the most out-going person she's met so far.

"I never threw it, but that's alright. I'm Astra Norrick," she said with what she hoped was a friendly smile. "Your name is awesome. It's like you're the main character." She felt her face heat up a little after that comment. She was definitely a bookworm, telling people their names were "main character." Hopefully Axyen would take it as a compliment, and not be too weirded out.

The boy continued in his art, coloring the detailed poster for the broom race. "Is this an official event?" she asked. "Sorry, I'm a first year and don't really know much about the school traditions. My brother never tells me anything." She remembered her homework, but chose to ignore it for a little longer, watching Axyen's drawing come to life under his talented hands. Astra had never really colored anything she drew, but then again she lost motivation for most of her drawings early on, whether it be because she lost her muse or she just hated the way it turned out. Maybe if Axyen and I become friends I could ask him to show me some tricks? she wondered. Nope, jumping ahead of yourself there.

Axyen listened, and learned the Slytherin's name, Astra. That reminded Axyen of Astronomy, mainly for the first four characters of the word, but Axyen thought the name was cool, and not because of its similarity to the worst Astronomy, there was something else about it that Axyen couldn't really find, let alone explain. Axyen blushed(again) at the second compliment he took today, but snapped out of it. He knew what a main character was, but he never really understood how that would apply outside of a book. "If you don't mind me asking," Axyen started to say, pausing for a moment to consider how he can say this in the least confusing way possible or not as lengthy. After a good ten(10) seconds, Axyen continued. "What is a main character in this context?" Axyen asked, hopefully that wasn't confusing.

Axyen smiled slightly as she asked if the Halloween Party was an official event. "No, I'll need permission, or something. However, I am pretty sure students can make unofficial events." Axyen said, before he decided to wisely(in his opinion) add "I haven't read any rules against it, but I'll still ask just to be safe." Axyen said, emphasizing heavily on the word 'against' and 'just to be safe'. The Slytherin then apologized, as they were new and don't seem to know much about the school traditions. "No problem! I still have questions and get lost in the corridors." Axyen said, as Astra mentioned that her brother never tells her anything, Axyen felt that was something they could relate to. "My brother told me a bunch of made-up stories, and I still don't know why. He made Hogwarts much more scarier than it needed to be." Axyen said. "I basically nearly learned nothing about Hogwarts from him." Axyen said. Axyen said all of this while coloring the Jack o' Lanterns, then coloring the entire background, and still needed to color in the zombie, as well as the dementors.

Now Axyen only had to make at least five(5) more posters for this event, well, as soon as he finished with this poster anyways. He decided he may as well send out his first invite. "Hey uh, would you be interested in attending this Halloween event?" Axyen asked. "It'll probably start during the first or second week of October." Axyen added, he didn't want to bombard Astra with all the ideas he had and make it seem unrealistically fun. Axyen had to put in a bit of effort first before actually listing off events, but the Broom Racing should be possible. Axyen started to color the zombie while waiting for a response.

Astra was enjoying talking to Axyen. He was nice, as the majority of Hogwarts people had been so far, and she was relishing in it, so unused to these strangers being so kind. She walked over to her study space to gather her papers as Axyen asked what a main character would be in this context. "Oh, well, you know how in books the main character has a lot of crazy things happen in his or her life? They usually have pretty iconic names, like yours." She sets her books down on the other side of the table, diagonal from the Hufflepuff. Astra knew how annoying it was when someone encroached on personal space and she didn't want to do that. "In real life, though, it doesn't matter what you're named. Crazy stuff happens to everyone. Take Harry Potter, for instance. He's got a normal name and he beat death twice!"

She glanced over her notes, circling some key points as Axyen explained he was going to ask for permission. "Takes talent to organize something like this," she said. "I could never, too disorganized." She blew on her paper a little to help the ink dry. "You'll probably get approval, it's a great idea."

Astra felt a little better about her own predicament as Axyen shared his. "At least mine was nice enough not to lie about Hogwarts... though everything else is fair game, it seems," she half-joked. "Brothers, am I right?"

The Hufflepuff was still coloring masterfully, each stroke of the orange pigment bringing more life to his spooky but fun jack-o'-lanterns. It was mesmerizing. Astra looked at Axyen in surprise when he asked if she'd be interested in his event. She smiled and answered, "Yes, I'd love to go. Thanks for inviting me!" Nothing like this had ever happened in her primary school years, she was always the last invited, usually a day or two before the event. She wanted to thank the boy again, but words felt empty to Astra. She preferred to show gratitude by actions. "Hey, um, I'm not the best at art but I could try to help you with the posters? Or I could help you hang them around school when you're ready to put them up?"

She twirled her dry quill on her fingertips as she waited for a response, thinking over the fact that she might have just made a friend. And it wasn't really awkward at all, I don't think, she thought, pride welling up in her chest.

Axyen was still coloring the Zombie while he listened, he was trying to make the zombie look like an normal person while adding torn bits of clothes to make it somewhat scary. Axyen continued listening to Astra while she explained the context of the term she used, main character. Axyen nodded confirming that he did know how crazy things often happen to the main character of the story, though he still didn't quite get it... yet. Axyen continued to remain silent while coloring, still listening. Astra then went on to say how the main characters usually had iconic names similar to Axyen's name. Astra continued by mentioning it doesn't matter what name you have as Harry potter had a normal name and ended up having an impact on history. "Oh, now it makes sense." Axyen said, finally connecting the dots. "Thanks for explaining that." Axyen added.

Axyen this time didn't blush at the compliment, but instead smiled. "Thanks!" Axyen said, being organized, or as a Muggle would say 'neat freak' is finally paying off. Axyen loved doing stuff like this(as he found out today) and already getting a compliment about it seemed great. Astra added how she was too disorganized to pull something similar off. "Don't say that, sometimes it takes practice." Axyen said. "When I was a first year, I used to stutter all the time." Axyen said, pausing to think, just for a moment. "My brother, however, seemed so confident and cool. However, he never left me alone about it..." Axyen said, drifting off into thought for a second. "I noticed how much he irritated me, how much it annoyed me, and I thought we would never be on speaking terms." Axyen added, he needed to remember to not go completely off track or to get full focused on coloring the zombie(which he was nearly done coloring.) "Unexpectedly, during the summer, my brother actually helped me with my stuttering, no potions, no spells." Axyen said. "but, it took quite a bit of time and effort to pull off." Axyen said. "So with time," Axyen paused to lift up the green, odd Muggle pencil, it was quite brilliant if you asked him, but he was getting used to them producing color. "And effort, you'll be able to do anything." Axyen said with a smile as he got two shades of grey colored pencil and a black pen. Axyen soon began work on the final part of the poster, the dementors.

Astra commented on how Axyen will get approval and that the Halloween party is a great idea. "Thanks, it means a lot, glad to hear that somebody already likes the idea of this mini-event!" Axyen said, starting on the first dementor, Axyen had never realized how easy there were to draw and color in. Axyen listened as Astra mentioned how her brother was nice enough to not lie. Why can't my brother be like that? It would be nice to listen and know that there's truth behind what Jacob is saying. Axyen thought to himself as he finished the last dementor. I finished the poster already? Axyen thought to himself as he turned a page, and then turned another page, realizing he should've skipped a page since that was where he was going to write his story. On second thought... Axyen turned the page back to draw another poster. I'll make the story in a separate journal. Axyen decided as he began working on the outline of what appeared to be games, a card game with a few pictures. In the corner were two dice. Where am I even supposed to find these odd things? Axyen asked himself. He quickly realized he was in a conversation. "Yeah, brothers." Axyen said, luckily he just caught Astra saying 'Brothers, am I right? hopefully Axyen didn't miss anything beforehand. It seems though, that both of them never really knew much about Hogwarts prior to arrival, Atsra's brother never told her anything, and Axyen's brother told so many lies it felt impossible to tell fact from lie.

"Hey, so I was thinking," Axyen said, pausing for a second, he hoped he didn't make this awkward. "Do you want to be friends?" Axyen asked, the question actually went by a lot quicker than what Axyen was imagining, he thought it would be a long time before he asked, and when he eventually did it'd be seemingly hours of just asking the question, but not this time, this time was different, different in a good way. Shortly after(after Astra's answer to whether or not she wants to be Axyen's friend) Astra first looked at Axyen in surprise after Axyen just invited her to the Halloween party. Did I do something wrong? Is that not the right way to give somebody an invitation to a party or something? That was the first thought that came to Axyen's mind. She then exclaimed that she would love to go and thanked Axyen for inviting her. Axyen smiled and replied "No problem!" Axyen was relieved that he didn't mess up anything, as that was his first time inviting anybody to anything(aside from family members.), so Axyen was glad it actually went so well, and he knew that at least one person was planning on going to the party.

Astra soon asked to help draw some of the posters, or help hang them up. Axyen personally believed art was a lot more fun than just hanging up posters, and it felt kind of just plain mean to only allow someone to hang up posters. "I think that making the posters would be a lot more fun opposed to just hanging them up." Axyen said. "But yeah, I think it would be cool if you made a few posters!" Axyen happily said. This day has a gone a lot better than he planned(in his opinion anyways.), there was just no way something could go wrong today.

Astra listened carefully as Axyen explained how he got better at speaking through practice, and how the same concept could applied to anything. It was refreshing hearing this aloud, she'd never have anyone encourage her in this way. Usually she was simply told to fix whatever was wrong (like her disorganization). "Hm. Yeah, you're right," she said with a nod.

The Hufflepuff began to color in the dementors on his poster. Astra had only ever seen pictures of them thankfully, but Axyen's drawing looked on point. She could tell he had a lot on his mind as she stuck her notes back in her History of Magic book, deciding that she could no longer be bothered with them. After all, you'll only have this conversation once, and the textbook is always here, she reasoned.

"Hey, so I was thinking," Axyen said, his pen stilling on the page. Astra raised an eyebrow and nodded as a signal for him to continue. "Do you want to be friends?"

Astra's mouth opened a little in happy surprise. Certainly unexpected was his question but definitely not unwelcome! "Yeah!" she answered quickly and excitedly. I'm getting better at this friends thing, huh? She cleared her throat and repeated in a calmer tone, "I mean, yes, I'd love to be your friend."

Axyen seemed pleased that she would try to go to the party, and now Astra knew there would be at least one person she could talk to if everyone else ended up like she had expected the people she had met so far to be like: boring, rude, or weird in a bad way. She highly doubted this, though. I wonder if I could get Renelle to come?

She beamed when Axyen confirmed she could help with posters. "Great. I can go grab my sketchbook if you'll wait for me and maybe we can draw together? I'm not the best at drawing and coloring but I can do calligraphy well." (insert Axyen's answer) She pushed her chair back from the table and dashed through the halls and down the stairs as fast as she could. A new friend! An art buddy! Today had started out mundane and kind of boring, but now? Now it was almost like Astra was on top of the world.
