Closed Delainie's Birthday Party PV

Renelle wasn’t entirely sure why she was here, to be honest. In the Small Hall. At a party. Since when did she go to parties? The last time she did, she was seven and accidentally set all the birthday presents on fire (story for another time). She hadn’t gone to once since.

Maybe it was just the fact that there was a complete lack of things to do on a weekend here at Hogwarts. True, lots of students liked hanging out at the Great Lake or courtyard, but the Ravenclaw girl had no interest in joining any of them; homework bored her to tears as well. All of this added up suggested that this birthday party was the best choice. Or maybe she just wanted free cake.

Entering the Small Hall cautiously, Renelle looked around, then breathed a huge sigh of relief- the blue balloons, ‘Happy Birthday’ signs and walls lined with refreshment reassured her that she was, indeed, in the right place. Having not been to this place before in her brief time at Hogwarts, she’d been initially unsure of her ability to reach it by herself. It seemed like those fears were unfounded.

Perhaps she had been too good with her directions, however, as it appeared that she was one of the first to arrive- the place was nearly deserted, apart from three people who seemed to be talking. Great. Her plan had been to go in, eat cake, then leave. There was no way she wouldn’t be noticed now. Oh well. Maybe this was a good thing- Renelle needed to be more social, after all.

She headed toward the small group, consisting of two Ravenclaws (one of whom was most likely the one this party was for, judging from the blue decorations), and a Gryffindor girl. As she went closer, she suddenly realised that she had completely forgotten about one of the most important aspects of a birthday party—presents.

Silently cursing her forgetfulness, Renelle rummaged though her pockets, hoping against hope that she would find something in there that could pass for a gift. Thank goodness, she was wearing the same outfit from her ride on the Hogwarts Express, and there was a bag of leftover candy and chocolate. There was quite a lot, too- it was hard to control yourself when it came to buying sweets.

“Uh, hi.” Renelle came to a stop in front of the three people. She vaguely recalled that it had been mentioned that the birthday party was for a first year, so it was probably the blonde girl. Holding out the slightly wrinkled bag, she forced a smile. “Umm.. These are for you?” Why had it come out as a question?

Once Madi saw the information about the birthday party, she knew she was going. She didn't really have anything else to do, and besides a birthday party sounded like a fun way to start the year.

Part of a birthday was presents, so Madi knew she needed to bring one. She dug through her stuff trying to find things she could give. She decided to go with a cute necklace that she had bought a few months ago during the summer, and a bag of sweets that she had, also from the summer. She put the presents in a box and tried to make it look nice. She really hoped the person who the party was for liked the gift.

After she finished that, she headed down to the small hall. She walked in. It was decorated very nicely. There was a banner and blue balloons. She walked further and saw a few people in a little group. There was a girl who Madi had met at a ball over the summer. She thought that her name was Linda. There was a guy who Madi didn't recognize, another girl who Madi didn't recognize. And then there was Delainie, one of Madi's good friends. She shared a dorm with her and they had sat with each other on the Hogwarts Express. Linda and the other girl were handing her gifts. This was Delainie's birthday party!

She waited for the others to finish giving presents and talking to Delainie.

"Delainie?" She asked. "Happy birthday!" she exclaimed, handing Delainie the gift.

As I was standing around, another girl approached me and said "Hi. My name is Linda. I'm second year, Gryffindor. What's your name? It's your birthday, isn't it?" I looked at her for a moment, a little bit started. before coming to my senses and replying. "Oh hey. I'm Delainie, a first year, and yeah its my twelfth birthday today!" I was very excited already, and then the girl, Linda, handed me a gift. This made me even more excited, I've always just really loved presents so much. "Thank you!" I squealed.
Another girl came over and approached me, and said hi. "Hey!" I said back to the girl. The girl handed me a gift and I took it very happily, I wasn't really sure what she had said before handing it to me, but it sounded like a question. "So, what's your name?" I asked the girl.
After I finished asking her a question, I noticed my friend Madi come up to me. "Madi! Hey how are you?!" I said to her excitedly. She too, handed me a gift, but this time, I was less interested in that and more in seeing my best friend! "also thanks for the present" I said with a laugh, I still couldn't forget about thanking anyone, especially my best friend.

who was this lucky birthday person? aries didnt know, but she did know that she would be the life of the oarty, just living the moment. everyone had to know by now that rie signed up for everything she saw. a little paper slip, done. a pen? done. and that was just her, so she went out to buy some gifts for this party.

makeup? no... jewelry? no... oh! some pranks and a scent bottle, whoever it is must love this guft or else they'd be a maniac. aries said to herself. a lady next to rie hushed her, and she moved away. she saw many perfect scents that would smell gorgeous and lovely, but none seemed right. strawberry shortcake? no, it was too dessert-like and sweet. mint? cherry blossom? starlight? pixie dust? rie's mind revolved the way earth did around the sun. she was confused and hope less.

until she spotted it, the best one ever! lavender boquet, was what it was called. and that was what aries took back to higwarts that day. now for something at weasley's wizard wheezes! ive got this one covered, and holding the gifts in her shimmery bag, aries's eyes gleamed with excitement as she opened the door to reveal a fully set up party.

she narrowed her eyes to read the words on the sign. del- delainie' burthday party.. oh!!! delle, sweet young delle, rie was ecstatic, as delle was her innocent little mentee from the study room. she grinned as she saw the blonde hair and short body, with thin pink lips smiling and waving to everybody. she went and tapped on delle's shoulder. happy birthday delle! twelve now, are you? she laughed and went to go enjoy her time there.

All Astra knew is that there would be food. And that, quite frankly, was all she needed to know.

She didn't know the birthday person, and she wouldn't go to sleep sobbing if she didn't end up meeting them. Cake was and remained the only thought on her mind. When she reached the Great Hall, however, the crowd was severely lacking. Aw, heck, she thought, seeing only four Ravenclaws and two Gryffindors, and out of the six of them only one was a guy. This person doesn't have many friends.

She sat near the back wall after tossing a card onto the table which held cake. The delicious looking, delectable smelling cake she didn't want to risk. The card was a simple gesture to perhaps give the illusion that she was ecstatic this person had lived another year. Well, she was happy they'd lived, of course, but it really wasn't any of her business.

But that cake is definitely my business. Astra just didn't want to talk to anyone, and she would almost certainly be seen swiping a slice of cake and making her merry way out.

So she settled for a glass of fizzy punch (pre-poured and quickly grabbed, of course) and sat at a table a ways away from the main party, her foot tapping and her eyes darting around, waiting for more people so she could grab some cake and book it.

I wonder what flavor it is. I hope it's chocolate. Mm, that's be really good. This punch is very nice. Fruity, fizzy. Smells good. Mm! I need to ask whoever made it for the recipe. She sipped the drink and continued her observation of the Hall in peaceful silence, her beige flannel wrapped snugly around her and her green beanie hiding most of her hair, currently tied up in a low bun.
