It was getting hot. The weather was a lot warmer now and as beautiful as the scenery was, it was uncomfortable, all the heat. At least it gave her an excuse to be outside instead of inside, so at least there was an upside to the weather.

But once again, Estelle found herself in the library. It was honestly one of the only places she felt comfortable in inside the huge castle, the surroundings of books and the silent atmosphere was just pure bliss. Plus, most of the time if she decided to sit on the floor or swing here on top of the desk or another chair no one will say anything. If anyone did say anything, that would be the end for them, as Estelle would verbally slaughter them.

So that day she sat in the far corner of the library, flipping through The Tales of Beedle the Bard. Estelle was only half reading, the other part of her mind was wondering what was happening at home- with her mom, Charlie and Paul. The word home left a bitter taste in her mouth- Paul's house was not her home as much as Hogwarts was to her. Estelle forced herself out of her thoughts and concentrated on the book. She shifted her posture slightly and stretched her legs, and then adjusted the Even if outside was cooler, the library was definitely a lot more comfy.

The sun was gracing Maila's face with it's light as she made her way throughout the courtyard of Hogwarts. She had decided to explore the Castle a bit and especially the Library. Maila was especially excited for that part of the Castle. Surely they would have great books. The wind pulled on her loose curls and blew through her jeans overalls before she stepped into the castle. Her red converse made a little squeaking sound as she stepped through the halls.

Maila got lost a couple times, rounding corners and coming out at dead ends before she finally found the library. Her eyes lit up and she was in there in no time. The bright red long sleeve shirt she had on stood out a bit as she walked through the shelves, passing students. Her left hand trailed across the backs of what felt like hundreds of books before she finally found one that she wanted to read. She pulled out a copy of Sonnets of a Sorcerer and started searching for a place to sit. The library was surprisingly packed that day and so Maila soon found herself in the far back of the Library.

A girl with fiery read hair sat there, legs stretched out and concentrated on a book. „Hello.” she said politely as she walked past the girl. Then Maila sat down in an arm chair, mere steps away from the other girl. This was a comfortable corner indeed. Her eyes trailed across the girls whole appearance but stuck at the book. What was she reading? Maila squinted her eyes and sure enough she read the title The Tales of Beedle the Bard. What a weird name. She had never read that book but it did indeed sound interesting. Concentrating on her own book, Maila turned away from the girl who must already feel like she is being watched. She read a few pages before her curiosity won. Maila cleared her throat and leaned a bit to the girl.
Excuse me, what are you reading there?” she asked with a smile, her Finnish accent clearly sweeping through her words.” Sometimes her interested in new books was just too big.

Estelle looked up over her book.

A girl with curly black hair had greeted her politely and Estelle nodded her head in response, just a slight gesture which Estelle was saying, yes, I see you. Now go on with you're life. But to her dismay, the girl took a seat just a few seats away. Estelle could feel the frown form on her face, but she merely turned another page which led to a new chapter. She had finished reading the short story The Fountain of Fair Fortune.

She flicked the page back.

Then forward.

Estelle frowned. That's how the story ends?! She thought and she wanted to throw the book across the room. But, she was disturbed by the girl next to her, who leaned in and asked what she was reading and Estelle turned towards her (Maila) and let her blue eyes flicker over her for a moment over the girl. IfThe girl didn't falter under her gaze, Estelle sighed and put a finger to hold her page and showed the other girl the cover.

"The Tales of Beedle the Bard," Estelle read off the cover. "Its just a bunch of short stories."
The other girl didn't sound English, so Estele assumed she was from another school. Defiantly not Ilvermorny, or Estelle would've recognised her, as she looked around Estelles own age.

The red haired girl had not done more than nod at her, which was a clear sign of not wanting to talk or being too invested in the story. Which Maila respected. While she was quite interested in the book that the other girl was holding, she tried to concentrate on her own. Her eyes read over the lines. Wizarding poetry was an interesting subject and as a person who generally enjoyed poetry, this was the perfect read for Maila. It was quite different from muggle poetry in some ways but also not different at all. Perhaps this was one of the languages that all beings on this earth spoke, whether they were human or magical. She read a couple pages, before looking over the edge of her book again. Maila's eyes switched from the girl to the book, to the girl and to the book again. Her curiosity would be the death of her some day but for now, Maila was too interested to not ask. The words left her mouth sooner than she could think as she leaned over to the girl, not too close but also closer than some people felt comfortable with. Depending on how much they liked other humans.

While the girl met her with a hard gaze, Maila just smiled awkwardly. Her eyebrows furrowed with curiosity as her featured turned into a normal position again. Her lips parted at the other girls answer, nodding her head. „Ah..” she exclaimed silently, wondering if it would be rude to ask what kind of short stories. She choose a different question instead. „What's your favorite one? Short stories are nice sometimes, you always have variety and different storylines.” she spoke with a smile. „I have not read that book yet but it looks interesting!” the smile on her lips did not move a single bit while she leaned back again and her eyes were practically glued to the other girl now. „What school are you from? I go to Durmstrang, you can probably hear that I'm not from here.” she laughed but immediately put a hand over her mouth, in attempt to silence the bubbly laughter leaving her lips. „I'm Maila by the way, sorry I'm disturbing you. I just can't seem to focus when I see something that interests me.” that sounded wrong. Perhaps the girl would think Maila was interested in her and while that was not a lie - the red haired girl did look interesting to talk to - , she did not seem like she would appreciate too much attention from Maila. „- I mean the book.” Maila grinned.

Es pushed up her sunglasses which were perched unnecessarily on the top of her orange head. She thought about Maila's question for a moment before answering.

"I like this one okay, but the ending is bit dissapointing," Estelle said with a small shrug. "The Fountain of Fair Fortune. I'm kinda done with it, though."

The other girl was exactly as Estelle expected. Talkative. Bubbly. And obviously not going to leave Estelle alone anytime soon, so the young ginger had two options here. She could stay and listen to this girl ramble for maybe an hour or she could stand up and say she has errand to run.

Option two was quite tempting. But Maila could talk so it was clear Estelle wasn't going anywhere until Maila decided that the conversation was over. But Estelle was not exactly annoyed either, so she could probably sit through the torture the conversation for another twenty minutes or so.

Placing the book down- after quickly noting the page number in her head- Es crossed her arms and leaned back in her chair.

"Ilvermorny. You know, America?" Estelle added, waving away Maila's apology. "I'm Estelle, most people just call me Es, though. And I am personally wounded. I thought I was pretty interesting myself," she added, a sort of half smile forming on her lips as she feigned offense. It was the closest she could ever get to smiling fully nowadays. But Maila was kind of nice, Estelle found her company sort of...comforting?
"Durmstrang...thats where again?"

A strategy she had learnt while growing up was keeping the other person engaged by letting them lead the conversation. Ask questions. Give short answers. Look genuinely interested. It's a talent she prided herself on. And Estelle knew all about most magical schools from reading them up. But it doesn't take much to act like you don't know something. It wasn't like it was crime to keep someone talking, anyway.

Maila listened to the redhead attentively, wondering why she thought the ending to be rather disappointing. She chose not to dig deeper, knowing the other girl didn’t intend to speak to her in the first place. She tried going back to her book, fiddling with the pages as she turned them and glancing over to the other girl from now and then.

That didn’t last long and she fell back into conversing quickly. The book was now resting on her lap, a soft smile settled on her lips. It wavered slightly when Estelle shared that she was from Ilvermorny. Maila was aware that Ilvermorny was in America. It wasn’t a secret. Her smile widened again when Estelle joked. „Es, yeah? I like that.“ Estelle even gave her a half smile which had got to mean she was warming up to her, right?

Ohh.. Our school is located in the far North of Europe. We usually get colder weather over there. Our, uh, castle is certainly not as big as Hogwarts but we’ve got quite big grounds. I really love that because we are completely surrounded by lakes and mountains, it’s very beautiful.

She paused to lean back in her chair. „What about Ilvermorny, how do your grounds and castle look? I‘ve never been to America but I‘ve heard it’s really rather warm most of the time.“ While Estelle looked more interested now, Maila wasn’t sure if she really wanted to talk. She would stay silent after her question and wait for Estelle to continue the conversation if she wished so.
