Valentins cry sent a lightning bolt down Maila's spine, spreading through her entire body in the form of shivers and goosebumps. She was not sure what to do. Her eyes were wide but her embrace around the seeker only tightened. Her own eyes burned with empathy as she somehow tried to hold the tall boy, that was falling apart in her arms. Her heart hammered against her chest, not knowing what to do and an unsure feeling settled throughout her. The air was filled with silence and the occasional weeping sound, countered by Maila's steady and slow breathing. There was such raw emotion in Valentin, one Maila tried to understand so hard. Biting her bottom lip, she would not let go of Valentin until the moment he wanted to. Until he would stop crying, until he would feel better even if it was just in the slightest, until he would feel strong enough to get up and leave. One could not be weak in the halls of Durmstrang and while Maila did not think that showing emotions was a sign of weakness, she knew that others did. „It will be okay, I am so sorry.” she whispered in the language she knew best, squeezing her eyes shut and trying to extract the sadness from this boy. Of course that was silly and wishful thinking, she could not just extract the sadness out of someone. However, in this moment, Maila felt like she could feel every inch of Valentins sadness. Every sob could have been her own. The longing for a shoulder to cry on, her own mind screaming at her. But it was this boys sadness. His own suffering that no one could take from him but he himself. Others could make it easier. Lift the heavy weight of his shoulders. But no one could fully take this pain and perhaps that was good. Perhaps humans need this pain sometimes, no matter how bad it hurts, no one would want their emotions and feelings getting stolen from them.
