Camp, 2023 Summer Duels, Game 6: Ravenclaw vs. Guests

His heart beat faster every time he took his steps. He could feel the thrill over his whole body when he was closer to the place of Duelling Tournament. It was Zach's first official duel. The boy was really excited yet nervous at the same time. He even couldn't leave his eyes on his notebook to memorize all the pronunciations and the wand movements the night before. But luckily, his match was in the afternoon so he still had enough resting time.

Zach looked at his teammates, Beatrice and Oliver, and greeted them with a smile. The fact that the two won the last duel made him overthink a little bit. All the 'what if' questions attacked him continuously until he heard the words from the moderator. "Yeah. Let's have fun," Zach thought. He took a deep breath and exhaled it slowly to collect his focus then grabbed his wand tightly. "Good luck," he said to Beatrice and Oliver.

Bea sidled up to the match arena. It felt different this time, coming into her Summer Games match. Maybe it was because she was older, more experienced after numerous matches both official and unofficial. Maybe it was because she now had a few wins under her belt.

What was the same was this 3v3 match. Was her enemies, all foreign students out for the win. But she wouldn't let that happen.

She was the most experienced of her team, with Oliver who she had partnered with in her last duel and Zach, a newcomer on the team. But it didn't matter. They were the winning team, well, one of two winning teams of Duelling, and she would not allow defeat.

Clutching her wand in her right palm, Bea smiled and waved at Almaeith her free hand as she approched the moderator. Something else, she noted, that hadn't changed. She hoped the other girl was enjoying her Summer. Nodding at Zach who had already arrived, she smiled pointedly, hoping she didn't scare the boy. She was rather competitive. "Hi Zach! Ready to win? Show the other schools why our team is called 'Murder of Merlin'?

Oliver was excited for this duel, as much as he was nervous. They were against another school, Oliver didn’t know if they would come out victorious, he hoped they would. His hopes weren’t very high, his last duel, he had frozen for most of the duel, unable to help his teammate, only regaining his focus too late, and getting knocked out. He didn’t what a repeat of last time. “I have to get my head in the game.” He took his place on stage. He held his wand tightly on his right hand. “Good Luck guys, we can do this!” he said.

Christopher arrived at the summer duel with mixed feelings. He wasn't very familiar with either of his teammates and was frankly unsure how well they would work together. Still, he was only able to account for his own performance and he knew he would do the best he could to make sure things went well.

The twelve year old had a look come across his face, making him want to throw everyone out of his cabin. But the reason for him coming wasn't because of his cabin, but because he had to duel. Unfortunately, he couldn't duel with his koldov-mates, but instead with kids from other schools. "How are you guys doing?" He asked to the partners.

The first round was always the most brutal. Spells were being cast everywhere, and Alma could barely keep track of it all. She saw Beatrice hit Seraphina with a nasty Incendio, effectively hitting her and setting her aflame. She had almost got Christopher with the spell aswell, but he managed to jump out of the way. Unfortunately for Chris, his teammates seemed to be out of the game as of right now. But with his quick thinking, he was able to knock Zach backwards with a Flipendo, Oliver jumping out of the way in time to dodge the spell spread.

The Ravenclaws seemed to be prepared for this match, as Zach hit Chris in retaliation with a smart blindfold spell. It managed to hit, however his placement must have been just the slightest bit off, as the blindfold didn’t seem to cover Christopher’s eyes completely. Oliver was last up, hitting Seraphina with an incendio that almost took her out of the duel on the very first round; but she seemed to be holding on for dear life.

Yeah, he probably wasn't doing so great. He must've been stuck in some sort of stupor, a daze perhaps that would have left him distracted from the group he was put with. Granted, it was fine as he hasn't become injured yet. But at the same time, it also wasn't because his own partners, his own teammates, were being targeted. And instead, he got pulled into a darn daze.

Zach could feel the adrenalin rush when he heard the incantation from the participants. It made him quickly cast a conjuration spell, Obscuro, toward one of the opponents just before the Knockback Jinx hit him. His Obscuro was hit but wasn't perfect. The blindfold didn't close the eyes completely. Maybe it was because he was pushed by the Flipendo. Zach must regain his focus again for the next round.

The duel had started and it looked good for the Ravenclaw team, both him and Bea casted Incendio at Seraphina, the flames seemed to have worked well for both of their spells. “Great Job Bea!”. He was able to dodge the flipendo Christopher sent at him, however the same couldn’t be said for his teammate Zach. Luckily, he was the only casualty in their team, the flipendo looked like it hit hard, but Zach was able to regain his focus, ready for the next round, same thing with the rest of their team.
