Mistletoe and Mayhem Part 2
This is part 2 to the Mistletoe and Mayhem thread that can be found here: viewtopic.php?t=27466
Estelle pushed open the door. She had never been into the Hospital Wing before and honestly had hoped she'd never have to. But overconfidence comes with a price and she was now paying it.
In hindsight, she should never have continued to the mistletoe when the branch was so thin. Even now, she couldn't believe it had held her for that long. Her courage had been her downfall and she wondered if other Gryffindors had experienced the same problem.
Estelle's eyes studied the Hospital Wing. It had stone walls with large windows that let in the golden rays of the afternoon sun. It was busy, with many beds occupied, some with curtains tucked around them for privacy.
She hoped that a nurse would be able to heal her injured knee. Even now, it wouldn't support her weight and she was leaning heavily on Simon for support. The bruising had turned a purplish colour and her knee was swollen. She hoped it wasn't a sign that something was seriously wrong.
Estelle glanced at Simon. She was so thankful of his help and she wished she could find the words to express her sincere gratitude. He was so kind to have helped her and she hoped that in the future she could help him in return.

Mistletoe and Mayhem Part 2
@Estelle Nyx, @Emery FeatherstoneSimon did his best to escort Estelle through the castle. What bothered Simon most was the nosy students constantly slowing them down. 'Oh no, Estelle, what's happened?'. 'Should we go with you to the Hospital Wing?'. There was no need of that, of course. The last thing he wanted was a train of people following them, drawing even more attention to his poor friend. Simon kindly but firmly assured them that they had it under control.
He was sure Estelle was going to be fully recovered once the nurse got to do her magic. He remembered that time in the beginning of the autumn term when he himself fell off a tree. The nurse had been really helpful and tend to even the smallest of scratch mark. Since then, he had only been to the Hospital Wing to get some medicine for his coughing after he was having a cold.
Simon did not like hospitals in general. The sterile environment always made him anxious; the white corridors, the face masks, the hospital beds, medicines, wires and devices... The Hospital Wing was nothing like that though. While the Muggle hospitals almost made him feel ill himself, for whatever reason he visited them, the Hospital Wing at Hogwarts had the opposite effect; rejuvenating him just by being there.
"Okay. Here we are", said Simon to Estelle as they approached the open door (he realized his arm muscles were getting numb after supporting Estelle all the way from the grounds). "Hello?"

Luckily for the young nurse, the hospital wasn't too busy today. Emery most definitely preferred these days over the chaos of the sports events. The duels always created large numbers of unconscious students and the broom sports weren't without any danger either. It was far beyond their understanding why the school even let these events continue. Sure, almost every single injury could be cured easily with magic but that was no excuse to let these kids participate in such awful sports in Emery's opinion.
In order to keep themselves busy, Emery had started to rearrange the potions in the Hospital Wing. The previous nurse had used a slightly different system to keep them organized than what she was used to from her time at St. Mungo. It had taken her some time to gather the confidence to suggest the change to the interns and other nurses. They had been the ones to work with this system for the longest and Emery didn't want their presence to disturb too much. It was still weird to them that they were now the head nurse and not just an assistant. Just as she picked up the Skele-Gro Potion, she noticed two students entering the hospital wing.
The pair existed out of a girl, who was leaning on the other for support, and a boy. Neither of the students seemed familiar to the nurse, nor did she know what year they were. However, what was clear to her, was the fact that the girl was injured. One of the assistants had also noticed the students coming in and he turned to Emery with a questioning look in his eyes. "I got it," she said as she put down the potion. The other gave her a small nod before turning back to his work.
Making their way over to the entrance of the Hospital Wing, they tried to figure out where exactly the girl was hurt. "What happened?" she asked the students, her voice gentle. Her eyes searched for the nearest place where the young girl could sit. "Can you get her to that bed?" the nurse looked at the boy as they gestured towards an empty bed on the right. While walking to the bed, she quickly used the Cleaning Charm to clean her hands. "I have to look at your knee, is that okay?" Emery would ask the girl once she sat down. Not being a fan of physical contact themselves, they always made sure to ask the patients if they were okay with it. It was important that the nurse would look at the knee, so the girl didn't really have an option, but Emery still found it important to ask.

As Estelle stood, leaning on Simon, a nurse approached them. Estelle had never seen her before, but then again, Estelle was rarely in the Hospital Wing.
The new nurse was very pretty, with short, curly hair that almost reached their shoulders. She ushered them to a bed and Estelle explained what happened.
"I was climbing a tree to gather mistletoe for a potion, but I miscalculated and the branch I was on wouldn't take my weight. It cracked and I fell, landing on Simon. I landed weirdly on my knee and there is something wrong with it - I can't put any weight on it or else it buckles. Simon helped me to the Hospital Wing and now I'm here..."
Estelle glanced at the nurse, looking for judgement. Estelle really regretted climbing that tree and knew that it had been a bad decision. On the plus side though, Estelle had managed to get the prig of oak-bound mistletoe that was currently in her pocket so at least she had something to show for her struggle. She internally chuckled at her relentless optimism.
The kind nurse asked if she could touch Estelle's knee. Of course that answer was a yes, but Estelle felt really happy that they'd asked. She had often found doctors scary and the fact that this nurse actually asked for consent meant a lot.

"Can you get her to that bed?", asked the nurse.
"Of course", said Simon and put his arm around Estelle once again. "Okay, Estelle. Last few steps of our long journey."
He felt relieved that Estelle was finally about to get some medical attention. It had been painful to see Estelle suffer for such a long way. He almost felt her pain himself (or he was literally getting numb in his leg muscles for supporting her for so long). Maybe it was the wrong decision to let her walk all that way from the grounds? Maybe I should have left her there under the tree to go get help? It was just that he and the boys from his secondary school had a saying; 'Never leave a fallen comrade', and it would have felt wrong to leave Estelle in a situation like that. He hoped that the nurse would not say something like: 'You should not have walked with that knee at all' or such. In that case, he would feel awful.
Estelle laid down in the bed and Simon sat down on a chair beside her. From all of a sudden, he felt helpless. He wished there was something he could do, but he had to face the fact that he was not needed any longer now that she was in good hands. Perhaps he was not wanted either? He decided to stay for a while, but be very observant if Estelle gave any signs at all of wanting to be left alone with nurse.
"Does it hurt much?", he asked, looking at Estelle as the nurse touched her knee.

While the girl told how she climbed a tree, Emery shook their head. That was something her youngest brother would have done as well. When they were younger, he was always the most reckless one of the family and she had spent many hours healing his injuries. Listening to the story, the nurse gave Simon a grateful look, happy that he helped the student. From the sound of it, the girl wouldn't have made it to the hospital wing on her own.
The boy seemed like a very kind and caring person, encouraging the other student to take the last few steps toward the bed. Once she had permission from the injured kid, Featherstone took a good look at the poor knee. It definitely needed medical attention. Luckily, it was a rather easy fix with magic. "This might be a bit uncomfortable, but it will heal your knee." they informed the student as they pulled out their wand. There were multiple ways to heal broken bones, including a spell and a potion. Only if you were skilled in healing, was the spell a good idea. When the spell was performed wrong, it could cause all the bones to disappear. If that happened, the ... potion was needed to regrow all the bones, something that could be painful and also took quite long.
Despite her young age, Emery had performed the spell often, so she was confident in her ability to cast the spell successfully. "Brackium Emendo" As she cast the spell, she pointed the wand at the injured knee. The girl might feel an uncomfortable feeling, due to the rapid healing that took place in her knee, but it shouldn't be too painful. Emery had never experienced the effects of the spell themselves. Always being super careful, they had never broken a bone. "It's done," she told the student. "However, I do want to keep you here for at least 15 minutes." That way they could monitor how the knee was doing and make sure the kid was okay.
"Over there," the nurse gestured to the back of the hospital wing where the desks of the nurses were gathered, "you will find some chocolate chip cookies on my desk." Emery loved baking and her latest creation was sitting on a plate on her almost empty desk. They always made too many cookies, so she usually shared them with the injured students and staff in the hospital wing. "If you want, you guys can take one of them each," she told Simon. The nurse rather didn't have the girl walking yet, so she hoped Simon would get a cookie for both of them.
"I have to do some other stuff right now. However, I will still be around if you need me and otherwise another nurse can help you." they said. After that, they gave the students a small nod and made their way back to the potions, which they had been sorting before.
