Ophelia was born in the bustling metropolis known as Dublin, Ireland on September 8th, 2011 to a half-blood mother and a Muggle father. Her mother, Cecelia Lavender Northwell, and her father, Grayson Northwell, provided her with a warm setting at home. She has only one sibling, a younger brother by the name of Felix. She's always been a fan of animals, her favorite being her little curly-haired spaniel named Galleon.

Ophelia grew up with parents who believed in a strong education. Her education consisted of private tutors, extracurricular classes, and Irish public school. Though her mother was a witch, she wasn't told anything about the magical world until her first instance of magic at the age of nine.

Though Ophelia was born and raised in Ireland, she frequently visited family in London, where both her parents grew up. These visits stopped only a year prior to coming to Hogwarts because of her parents' busy status. Half of her mother's side of the family were witches and wizards, living in secret from Muggles and working in the British Ministry of Magic. The rest of her family were Muggles and their family had to always keep Cecelia's magical status a secret.

Some of Ophelia's interests include writing stories, fantasizing about her future, and playing with her dog. She sometimes likes to draw, especially when she has friends over. One of her close friends includes Topaz November, a first-year Slytherin.

Ophelia's first instance of magic was when she was doing magic tricks for her younger brother. They weren't supposed to be real, of course, as she hadn't known of her mother's magic yet. When she'd uncovered a coin with a red cloth and yelled "Voilà," the coin had actually disappeared. This had scared her until her mother had told her of the magic within her as well. Now it was a shared secret between her and her parents.

Appearance:

Ophelia is a striking person to look at, put simply. She has got hair that is dark honey brown, skin as pale as the moon, and eyes as blue as ice. She has an angular body in the shape of an inverted pyramid and long limbs. Her face has chiseled and sharp features. Her friends call her fashionable, though she is always in simple clothing, according to herself. Many people who have seen her from afar call her unfriendly from the sharpness of her face, though the opposite is true of those who've actually spoken to her.

Personality:

Without a doubt, Ophelia can be described as a very protective person, both of herself and of people close to her. She believes in having few close friends and many acquaintances, which results in many people calling her lonely, though this isn't true. Responsibility is also a top priority for Ophelia, and she always takes the time to finish all her commitments before turning to fun. She is clean and organized, which supports her responsibility in many ways. She is mostly introverted, and sometimes has problems speaking to others, though she considers herself a leader in many ways. If you can catch her talking about her interests, though, you will have a fun conversation.

Interests:

Ophelia, before realizing that she was a witch, thought that her special magic was in the stories she told. She grew up spinning tales for her parents and younger brother, then went on to write them down. She dreamed of becoming an author. As much as Ophelia was a storyteller, she was also a reader, enjoying tale after tale from both Muggle and wizard books alike, though she didn't know the difference as a child.

Family

Mum
Cecelia Lavender Northwell, nee Williams, was a half-blood witch. She grew up in Muggle London with her lone parent, a Muggle mother who'd been worried when she'd shown signs of magic at an early age. During her time at Hogwarts, she was a celebrated quidditch player and a proud Ravenclaw. She was extremely proud when her daughter followed in her footsteps. Cecelia is a quiet but supportive mother and encourages her children to grow independently, though she is always right behind them. She and her husband moved to Dublin when he was hired as a newspaper editor. She took the same position at the Daily Prophet a few years later.

Dad

Grayson Northwell was born in London to Muggles and is a Muggle himself. He grew up with an ordinary life, meeting his wife Cecelia at a restaurant with her mother at the age of seventeen. Before their marriage, he was told of the magical world that his wife was part of and, though he was an introverted and quiet fellow, he was excited to know of this new world. When they got their first child, Ophelia, they decided together, at Grayson's suggestion, to keep the magic inside Cecelia a secret until her own magic showed up. He's a funny man with a chill outlook on life, opposed to his wife's quiet and anxious personality.

Little Brother

Felix Northwell was born exactly four years after his older sister, Ophelia. Growing up with the same magical ignorance as his sister, he loved to be outside and play Muggle sports. He is an extroverted and social boy, the opposite of the rest of his family. He inherited his father's flaming red hair and black eyes, so many people are surprised to know that he and Ophelia are siblings. When his older sister found out about magic at the age of nine, he'd been told as well, and his anticipation for his own magic to show up began. Now, he was eight and still awaiting his sign of magic.
