I sighed as I listened to the professor talk about the neutrons and protons. How we can transfigure a mouse into a teacup or something else very much not exciting. I yearned for Defensive Against the Dark Arts, or even Herbology. It had surprised me how interesting that class was but I had taken a small liking for it.
Beside me, my classmate didn’t seem to be paying much attention either. I nudged her with my foot, trying to get her attention. "Hi," I whispered. We had only been in this class perhaps around three months and yet to have a conversation. "A wee bit boring, don’t you think? All this talk of protons," I asked, speaking in a hushed tone to try and stay undetected. I wonder if this professor was a snarky as some i’ve come across. Not here, per se, but more my tutor with her screeches of ‘I can still hear you no matter how well you cover your mouth’.
I looked at my Transfig partner. Curious indeed with her black and white hair but who was I to judge? I wonder. Pureblood? Halfie? Mudblood— oh no, mum told me that’s a bad word. I meant Muggle-Born.
"So. Do you like- like transfig?" I asked, calming myself to stop my stutter — a stutter I would be elated to learn would peter out in the coming months after my enrolment to Hogwarts. "Or perhaps just- just dislike this lesson today?"

I looked at him when he kicked my foot and smiled out a "Hi," I didn't say anything waiting for him to finish his sentence. I rolled my eyes as the teacher smiled.he finished with. "Or perhaps just- just dislike this lesson today?". "I don't like transfiguration in general. I really like potions but my wand is made for transformation. This is a boring subject though."
I sighed and looked back down waiting for this class to be over. I looked back at the boy next to me. He had been my partner for some time now and we have never really had a conversation other than transfiguration things. "So what has been going on with you?" I tried to put on a smile but it ended up being a weird frown.
Though I felt bad for how I looked he did not seem to mind. Lucian was always quite a nice person. He had the nicest of eyes and flowy brownish black hair. I honestly can't tell the color. He is also a pretty good student unlike me I think he does his homework. I looked back up at him watching him closely for a reply.
The teacher had then started asking people questions about what he had talked about. I wasn't listening that much hoping that lucian was but then again he still had yet to answer me. I sighed as he walked past us going to the back of the room.

I listened to her speak about her wand, "Oh, nice. My wand is mainly helpful for charms! And with people with self control or something and very adaptable," I explained, happy I spoke that clearly. I’ve memorised so much about my wand. It was something to help me calm in preparations for Hogwarts! "And… some of it is boring! But I feel that- that some of it is okay. But yeah, over- overall it’s boring," I added.
I turned back to listen to some of what he was saying. Like I said, not all of it was boring however I didn’t like the talk of all this. I would rather do than listen. I felt her looking at me for a while before she asked me what was up. I shrugged and slouched a little in my chair. "Not much. Just getting used- used to the place you know? It’s massive!" it was really big! And there were so many hallways and stairs. It was a workout getting from Potions to Charms— never mind Astronomy!
I felt relaxed talking to this girl, I feel a little bad because I can’t remember name. Well, I think i’ve heard it before but it’s when my cousin brags about all the jewellery he has. It’s a type of ring he wears. Uh. Began with an O? Oh well, I guess I will have to wait until I hear it again? It’s way too embarrassing to mention that I can’t remember her name! But she is nice, from what I can tell from these lessons together. She sounds sweet too.
It was then I decided I wanted to get to know her more!
"So, what’s your favourite class?" I asked, writing some stuff down to make it look like I was working. "And do you have any siblings?" they were pretty good ice breakers!

I smiled at him once again. As the class went on. All of it burrowing into my brain as he spoke to me.

I smiled and nodded as it was true but one of the reasons I did only smile and nd was because the teacher seemed a bit more vigilant now. when I did ask him what was up he replied with
"Not much. Just getting used- used to this place you know? It's massive!"
"Yea it is pretty big and plus it might be nice if we go around the school and get used to it together you know?"
I looked back at the teacher and wrote down what he was talking about. I turned again when I his voice again. He was never boring. I loved talking to him already it was.......Calming?
"What's your favorite class?"
He paused to write something and continued

I pretended to work myself as I responded to him
"Well, I much prefer potions. Potions is quite fun and I personally think it is more interactive than most classes other than... Well maybe Charms and broomstick riding. Oh and I am an only child. My parent's had passed before they wanted to have more kids. What about you Lucian?
I winked at him as a little reminder about my question as the teacher came over and observed my paper. Not seeing much of anything. I watched him sigh and look at everyone else's paper I guess it pays off to be in the back
