┏ ┓It wasn't a secret that Regina loved and excelled in Defense Against the Dark Arts, but if there was another subject that came close to being on the same ranking of her favourites list, it would have to be Ancient Runes. As somebody who was passionate about understanding and excercising spell-casting, she was incredibly invested in studying a historical form of magic. There were certain things modern magic couldn't do, old practices that had faded away as the world evolved. Growing up in an elitist family, Regina wasn't unfamiliar with the importance of upholding traditions. Even though she didn't conform to most of it, it was still a part of her upbringing.
As such, the Gryffindor found Study of Ancient Runes to be fascinating with its old languages and symbols. She wondered, ambitiously, of all the things she could do with this kind of old knowledge. It was a major reason why she'd chosen this class when she graduated to third year, and so far she had yet to regret it with all of her good grades. What did catch her attention, though, was the Professor. Amalia Rolfö was announced as their new teacher back in January, and Regina thought she brought quite a unique dynamic to the course that the previous professor couldn't, making her even more interested in a further understanding of the subject. She'd even begun doing research of her own and discovered something quite intriguing.
Curiosity was what led her to knocking on Professor Rolfö's office on a Saturday afternoon, a theoretical book held in one arm. It was something she'd found in the school's library, a worn-cover manual almost forgotten by time, translated from the runes in which it had been written. With what she had already studied in class, she was able to decipher a few spells that seemed very ancient and could possibly be considered dark curses used in the olden days. It was a phenomenon Regina hadn't seen it being addressed before - the possibility of Ancient Runes having Dark attributes. She was determined to discuss is with Professor Rolfö and find out if it was real.
"Professor Rolfö? Good afternoon, it's one of your third year students, Regina Miller. I hope I'm not disturbing you, but there is something I wanted to ask you about Ancient Runes that hasn't been mentioned in any of the classes."┗ ┛

Dark Magic In Runes
───────────────────────────────────The midday sun filtered into the office, warming the space and enveloping it in a rather comforting atmosphere. Amalia was in the midst of a temporary break from grading the most recent batch of essays. While the repetitive work itself was enjoyable enough all things considered, a moment to stretch and fix up a cup of tea was sorely needed. It was a challenge in and of itself to remember to take the occasional break once she got invested.
It's only as she's pouring a cup of freshly brewed tea that a knock at the door pulls her from whatever random musing occupied her thoughts. Amalia blinks in surprise and looks towards the closed door as a voice rings out. She doesn't move until the greeting is finished, focusing in on the slightly muffled words before a small smile makes an appearance.
Depositing the cup of tea on her desk, the professor moves over toward the door and quickly opens it. "Ah, good afternoon Miss Miller. No disturbance at all, it's always a pleasure to help out a curious mind. Please, feel free to join me," she greets, stepping aside to welcome the third year in. The young girl before her had a strange sort of intensity about her that was hard to put into words, but Amalia's smile didn't lessen. A sort of anxious excitement built in her chest at the prospect of building more of a rapport with students though she did well to tamp down any visible indication of such. It'd already been a month, but she felt as though she was still settling into her new role.
Upon Regina's entrance, Amalia would close the door once more and stride back towards the desk at the crux of the office, gesturing towards the chair opposite her own in invitation. "I was just making myself some tea, would you care for some? It's an herbal blend." Would the offer be accepted, a spare cup would be prepared and placed on the near side of the desk. The professor settles back into her chair and shuffles the remaining handful of unchecked essays off to one side to offer her full attention to her student. "Now then, I believe you had a question. How may I help you today, Miss Miller?"────────────────────────────────
