Athena, Goddess of Cute Cats
Estelle couldn't wait to return to Diagon Alley. She had been saving her money for a long time and she could finally afford a pet.
Estelle walked in to the shop. Cages and terrariums lined the walls and there was a chorus of squeaks and screeches as she walked across the shop. She smiled at the shop keeper, a small lady with short, white hair, who smiled back at Estelle.
Estelle walked among the many enclosures, looking at all the animals. She assessed each one.
Pigmy puffs were adorable, but she couldn't bring her muggle friends round if she had one as it would raise too many questions. Also, they were way too expensive and out of her budget.
Estelle didn't actually mind spiders, but she would prefer not to have one. Many people hated them and she didn't want to freak out her friends. She couldn't take a spider to Hogwarts and that would be a big problem.
Estelle dismissed lizards, ferrets and bunnies as she couldn't take them with her to Hogwarts.
That left owls, rats and cats.
Rats were quite cute, but she really didn't want to be bitten by one and she felt if she got one it would escape, probably getting hurt.
Estelle could definitely use an owl to carry her mail, however she knew little about how to care for them and was uncertain as to which type of owl to get.
Cats were adorable and she honestly preferred them over owls, however, they were less practical.
Estelle was looking at a large tawny owl, when a little, gray kitten rubbed itself against her leg. She reached down and put out a hand. The little kitten rubbed its soft face against her palm and purred.
"That's where that little kitten got to!"
The shop owner picked up the kitten, smiling at Estelle. She explained that the kitten had worked out how to open its cage and had a tendency to run off, causing a little chaos. Usually a locking charm kept the kitten's cage shut but the Anita (the owner) had forgotten to charm her cage this morning, leading to the cheeky kitten's escape.
Estelle glanced down as to where the small ball of fluff was squirming in Anita's arms. It was honestly the most adorable creature Estelle had ever set eyes on. She asked if she could hold it.
Anita passed Estelle the kitten. She was silver, with dark grey stripes and large, greeny gold eyes. She snuggled into Estelle's arms and purred. Estelle knew right there and then that this was the pet for her.
