Keith failed at knocking Colin off his broom, oh well. It was worth a try. He glanced at the waterfall for a split second, what a lovely sight. He regained his focus and went for a different Slytherin. Again he would try and knock them off their broom. Hopefully this time he actually did.Action: as strategized

The race was pretty even for now with each team almost neck to neck with similar strategies. For a short time Gray didn't do much, instead staying in the same area at a slow speed to see what the other team would do. To his surprise they didn't do too much, let alone do anything to them. Now that he had an idea in mind, he chose to finally move at a faster pace to try and put into action the idea that could change things.

It seems that this round was not in favor of the Slytherins. With Vale now Knocked off her Broom, and Wyatt hit with a successful Descendo spell from Della, it is not looking good for the Slytherins.
"Gryffindor seems to be having a lot more luck this round, unfortunate for Slytherin.... Hopefully they get some of that luck for next round they will need it as they approach the giant squid!"

The fog still seemed to be tripping people up, both Vale and June seem to be falling victim to the fog this race, just like many others before them.
Vale must have been dazed from the fog because when it came time to face the giant squid she failed to evade it's grasp. Shortly after, likely terrified for his teammate, Colin suffers the same fate.

"Yes!" Ying let that word of excitement escape her lips with more enthusiasm than she wanted to show. After all, even if it was natural and understandable, it didn't seem polite on her part. But she could not avoid the happiness and relief when she saw that her fellow lions and team mates where standing their ground against the ferocious and merciless snakes. They were replying in the same coin and Ying was proud of their bravery and resilience!

----Vale looked around in confusion before turning her head towards the giant squid that was swinging Colin around. Her eyes stared at it for a while before she began having a conflict of simply going back to the waterfall and taking a swim. Doggie paddling in the cool water didn't sound so bad. She was pretty sure her captains already wanted to strangle her for being flung off her broom twice already.

BROOM RACING SLYTHERIN VS GRYFFINDOR SPRING 2023
Spellwork wasn't his usual calling card, but fond memories of a handsome tutor would have that sort of positive effect on a particular half-giant. Through practice, Hugh had overcome part of his nature that lies in pushing away magical effects. Giants were resistant to magic, in turn it meant their own prowess was easily underestimated, often for good reason. Yet, enough motivation and focus could push any child through their limits. Hugh would never admit it, but he did secretly believe himself to possess a sharper mind than the average half-brute out there. It is why he believed he could stand up to someone like Healy, who served his role well as a beater, despite his good-natured weakness. And now with his grandfather's training, that blade would only become more deadly and strike more true. Or so he could hope. The world still had it out for him after all...

The higher you are, the harder you fall... or something along those line. That was how the saying went, was it not? Ah, well, regardless of what it really was, Xailah had decided to pluck Icarus out of the sky before he flew too close to the sun. Wyatt, while his other teammates were either scrambling to get back on their brooms, falling off their brooms, or tussling with the squid (that had quickly made itself known to the rest of the racers; Xailah couldn't say she envied any of the snakes caught in a struggle- been there done that) was lowered back to the level of the other racers before he got too far ahead. Surprisingly, taking that page out of George Henry's book had appeared to be one of the more useful pages Xailah could have taken.
Huh. Maybe George actually did know a few things- you know, blind squirrels and all. Maybe he didn't do things purely out of vitriol and annoyance. Maybe- no, now that was giving him too much credit. He was an absolute hellion at times.
Out of the corner of her eye, the metamorph watched as Della rocketed into the sky. That made her wonder what happened to Marina. Perhaps the broom racers would never know... Xailah hadn't seen the younger cub since she had been propelled upward, so her current whereabouts were a mystery. It was a bit worrying admittedly; and it made the sixth year wonder (in a moment of childlike silliness) if she had accidentally shot the girl into space by mistake- if that was possible. With magic at play, anything was technically possible. Somehow, somewhere, it was possible the young Gryffindor was hovering around as some sort of UFO. Hopefully the same fate wouldn't befall Della. That would be unfortunate.

BROOM RACING SLYTHERIN VS GRYFFINDOR SPRING 2023
Colin roared as he and Vale moved into position to let June smack Keith with a Parkins Pincer! It was a brilliant strategy and so well executed! But somehow not only did Colin's Gryffindor mate slip the pincer movement, he actually managed to turn it against the Slytherins by blatching Vale! And down she went --- again! Such a stroke of luck! Colin began to wonder if the lions hadn't downed gallons of felix felicis before the race.
With that thought in mind, Colin turned away from his swimming mate and plowed straight into the squid!

Wyatt's stomach churned for a couple of reasons: one, because he was indeed being targeted due to his place in the lead and, two, because he was being taken down by a descendo like a drop in a roller coaster ride. At the same time he dipped back down to the other racers' level, he turned his head in time to see poor Colin kissing a squid by flying into it at full speed. Basically, the team was killing it. Which wasn't false, actually. They'd been doing pretty okay so far (KNOCK ON WOOD). Not wanting to ruin their luck, Wyatt tried to worry about finishing the race, and not this new vulnerability now that he'd been descendo'd.

Getting back into the race he was starting to notice that Slytherin were starting to gain a lead. They all needed to keep this up and move forwards, preventing the opposite team from getting back into this. There was times in the season where they got a lead but let it go after the opposite team barraged them with spell after spell. This time however, that was not going to happen.
As long as they all got past this blasted giant squid.
