Another morning dawned at Hogwarts, as the halls and feast tables were filled with the upbeat smiles of innocent first-years commemorating a special day for them, ofcourse it was the first flying lesson wherein everyone was eager after their 2nd History of Magic lesson to do something practical. "Hah! About time too, really, they should allow us bring our own brooms instead of making us use that dingy old janitorial equipment," scoffed a Slytherin who was stepping in between the Hufflepuff table and the rest of the room. The witch said, picking up an apple from the dining table and making her way back to her own seat.
Eyeing the Slytherin return to her table as a group of witches and wizards wearing emerald green sniggered at the apple. Oliver's timetable had shown his class would be with the Gryffindors. Gryffindor seemed like the friendliest of the houses from what Oliver had gathered in the few days at Hogwarts, ignoring his own house ofcourse, the Ravenclaws were mostly studious and serious and the Slytherins were the same but with a sour attitude and morale. The first years dispersed in a chaotic fashion from the castle's main entrance. As they marched down the worn rocky walkway and the slightly sloping hill the castle was perched upon, they soon clustered into their own groups of yellow and red and met just a few steps from the rocky pathway on a flat patch of grass as an adult which fashioning in rose pink robes with the very sub-standard equipment the Slytherin despised descended downwards from the sky.
βWelcome, students, to your first flying class at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I am your Professor for this subject, Miriam Stube. I personally donβt have a huge preference on if you address me as Professor or not, so feel free to call me Miriam if you want.β Several first-years broke away from their groups to follow the teacher, who was landing before a semi-circle of broomsticks laid before the 1st years. With glittering eyes and a zest for adventure, they enthusiastically surrounded the professor. A smile formed on the teacher's face as a wall of students excitedly listened in. She introduced herself and her past like an old wartime story which the students ate up, "Now enough about me, itβs time to begin the class. I would like to ask all of you to pick a broom and stand beside it. Remember, just stand by it- do not pick it up." The professor marched along the circle of brooms to the other end and cast a perplexed look as he passed through the pack that had dispersed and spread wide to let the teacher pass.
Oliver instantly received the word and went looking for an empty broom. The pupils spread like wildfire, scurrying to the nearest one and many scooping them up for a feel. When a group of Gryffindor students suddenly appeared and eagerly occupied the line of empty brooms, the broom-less student was promptly prevented from using them, and so resorted to searching for a far away broom. With each passing second, more and more brooms were being grabbed. When the Hufflepuff finally made it to the near end of the run-way, he discovered the final empty broom, sitting untouched on the ground between a blond, Gryffindor witch and a Hufflepuff wizard he could recall from the commonroom. With haste Oliver occupied the broom and looked ahead to the professor.
βAlright then- settle down everyone, settle down. Youβll want to hear what I have to say.β
Many Gryffindors found Miriam's lecture on the safety procedures for flying to be a challenge, but some Hufflepuffs started to whimperΒ and got weak in the knees. She eventually marched back to her own school broom and lifted her hand over the shaft following a lecture that calmed down some of the students but still terrified the most vulnerable Hufflepuffs.
βWith your broom to your dominant side, position an open hand above it. Next, command it into your palm by saying the word UP!.β

Mark awoke happier than he normally had since today was his very first flying lesson. Mark already knows how to fly, but is happy since he can learn more about it at Hogwarts. Once he got out of bed he changed into his uniform and hurried down to the Great Hall for breakfast.
Once at the Great Hall, Mark sat down and ate his food. When a Slytherin girl informed him and other Hufflepuff's about their class going to be with the Gryffindors, Mark didn't mind. Mark likes all the houses and doesn't mind getting classes with any of them. He also doesn't mind making friends with anyone in any house.
After breakfast, Mark went to the Flying Pitch where their lesson will take place. While waiting for the professor, Mark gathered with his other classmates, then when he noticed that the professor was there, he separated from his classmates and listened to the professor's instructions.
Mark quickly went to a broom near the end and picked it up. He noticed that a blonde Gryffindor witch picked up the broom not so far away from him. He also noticed that a dark brown-haired boy who is in Hufflepuff had taken the broom in between his and the Gryffindors.
Mark set his broom down when the professor told him too. He then smiled brightly before saying,
"Up!"
The broom went into Mark's hand and he let it hover while he got onto it. He than decided to hover since he wasn't sure if he could fly on it yet and he didn't want to get in any trouble either, so he waited for more instructions.

A lesson in the air.

@ Mark Myers @Oliver ThornEstelle went down to breakfast tired. She had stayed up most of the night reading books on the wizarding world. As a Half-blood you would think Estelle would know lots about the wizarding world but in fact that was not the case. She had grown up in the centre of London, gone to a muggle school, and never seen much in terms of magic - her father didn't want to attract attention. The only time she had really experienced magic was on their trips around Great Britain, as her father was a newspaper reporter and travelled to explore the stories he was writing.
Estelle yawned and sat at the Gryffindor table. The foods for breakfast appeared, making her smile. She still couldn't get used to the magic that was mealtimes at Hogwarts.
Estelle checked her timetable. Her first class was flying. Honestly, she wasn't sure how she felt about flying. Of course it's incredible to soar across the air but wouldn't the broom be really uncomfortable? She doubted flying would be better than riding Hippogriffs (which she had done once with her dad in Scotland). But who knows? Estelle certainly didn't.
Estelle walked to class. The teacher - who introduced herself as Miriam Stube - was standing in a ring of brooms. Estelle listened as the explained what to do. This lesson they were only summoning their brooms, not flying or anything. Estelle was both relieved and disappointed.
Estelle stood between a brown-haired Hufflepuff boy and another Gryffindor. She glanced around to see who else was nearby. Behind the Hufflepuff boy was another Hufflepuff. He had blonde hair and had already managed to summon his broom. Estelle was impressed.
She raised her hand over her broom.
"Up!"
The broom rolled over and hit her foot. She sighed and put it back.
"Up!"
The broom didn't move.
"UP!"
Still nothing. Estelle shut her eyes. She didn't want to fail at one of her first classes. She could feel tears welling up. Beneath her breath, she muttered
"Please go up."
The broom flew into her hand.
