Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw: Match 10
@Evelynn DecipioHouse Colours: Hufflepuff
"Opportunities multiply as they are seized."~ Sun TzuFully expecting a very hardy assault to come for him again like it had in the early part of the duel, Piérre was trying his best to shield himself from the worst of the (still potentially lethal) onslaught from the upperclassman. With a simple, so laughably simple, vertical flick, Piérre spotted out of the corner of his eye the way that the other student was moving her own implement... and it was very familiar. That same vertical slash.
Oh wow, she was casting...
"Pro-geo-gey-ge-go!" The haphazard syllables tumbled from the boy's mouth, brought on by the stress of the situation and the distraction by the fact that the other Ravenclaw girl had appeared to have the same exact idea as he had had. Had she really been that worried that either he or Eevee were going to try and hit her with something?
Well, that made at least one person who thought that the paired lions were intimidating enough to merit a protection spell of that level.
The shield that Piérre produced, while pretty to look at, was about as good at shielding as a silver mist. It looked almost fire-worky, the way that it sparkled and twinkled in and out of existence before simply crumbling to the earth in thousands of little glittery shards not unlike ground up glass. Others could say that he was simply incompetent with the spell--this was, after all, a third and most colossal failure on a total record of four total shielding spells cast--but Piérre knew better and recognized that sometimes he was simply cursed to have bad luck granted to him by assistance of a mind that had a terrible habit of running itself at a millions miles a second and thereby most playfully scrambling his vocal capacities. It was a staple of his by now, being this living embodiment of Murphy's Law.
"Huh.. well that was pretty and weird..." Piérre trailed off as he gave his wand a small inspection, picking at one of the leaves that sprouted from the wood grain of one of the swirls. Still, Eevee seemed capable enough, and while her petrification spell had only fizzled against the shield that the Ravenclaw girl had produced at least Evelynn had been able to cast the spell successfully at all. Already doing better than Piérre, as it was. Hitting his wand against his thigh like it was a malfunctioning tv remote, Piérre willed the arcana back into the implement and was ready once again to attempt his playful casting.Doing as Strategized

Unlike her compatriot, the syllables tumbled effortlessly from her lips. She may not have been a particularly powerful witch, but if there was something that could be said about Evelynn's casting, it was that it was—95% of the time—very reliable. Light shot across the no man's land between the two teams, the redhead hoping to catch the remaining Ravenclaw off guard. Naturally, that sort of luck couldn't be conjured. Tongue clicking against the back of her teeth as she watched her spell fizzle out, the former seeker spared a glance to Pierre, brow lofting at the sight of him rapping his wand against his leg. "This is hardly the moment to dawdle..." she lightly scolded, but the words held no edge. "You are still able to continue...?"

Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw: Match 10
On the bright side, this opportunity was good defensive practice. One hand nonchalantly on her hip, Phaedra used her free limb to flick a shield before her. It did in fact meet spell, and unlike Marchonné’s, helped in her obviously precarious situation of being outnumbered. The cloud rumbled above her head, tame for now, but nonetheless still a hazard. Widening her stance, Phaedra allowed herself a lapse to recollect the rounds; she’d have to get aggressive to make up for lost time.Doing as strategized (x)

This was not the best moment for Phaedra. Really the only thing she had going for her was the cloud no longer over her head, dutifully striking down at Pierre and leaving him shocked and winded.
But that was truly the extent of the positives. Evelynn's choice of spell raced in first, a careful marksman taking aim and stealing the older girl's vision. The blindfold was hindrance enough, but then Pierre followed it neatly with petrification, locking the limbs she might have used to undo the knot. Phaedra had already been fighting against the clock, and Gryffindor had just stolen more of it from her.

Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw: Match 10
@Evelynn DecipioHouse Colours: Hufflepuff
"Opportunities multiply as they are seized."~ Sun Tzu"Yeah, yeah! I'm good, I'm a-okay...!" The boy trailed off as he finally spun his wand in his fingers again. "Just... tryna get the old man to work with me..."
The wand let out a very disgruntled cough of 'Protego' sparkles in response. Piérre grinned at it. "Yeah, I said it. You're an old man; Ollivander said so himself."
Dueling matches didn't last forever, Piérre knew at least that much. That meant that so long as he could keep himself standing, Eevee and he at least stood a little bit of chance of managing to pull this little game out of their tushes. Still, the boy knew that the best way to engage with this fight... was simply to not engage. He knew from experience that neither he nor his partner had much experience in making their spells 'sting' per say...
So it was better for them to play towards their strengths; trying to keep themselves up and at them while also trying to whittle down the clock. In Piérre's arsenal, there was really only one spell that could do that for them as the ultimate time stealer: the Body-bind Curse.
Oh it was highly likely that the girl would try to throw up another Protego. It was a very real possibility considering her prowess in casting, but it was also a gamble that the Jester quite enjoyed making. He loved calling others on their bluffs, and he particularly enjoyed having his bluff called. A ripple of anxiety continued to pulse through him as his hands readjusted on his wand with a micro-fraction of a movement. Just as a black ribbon of an Obscuro blindfold fluttered past him from Evelynn, Piérre felt to sudden urge to hit the deck and deathdropped just in time for a wind jinx to fly over his head. Catching his breath on the ground as he watched the Metelojinx cloud slowly drift over Gryffindor's heads again, Piérre angled his wand at the calm Ravenclaw and shouted out to her to catch her attention."HEY! JOIN ME ON THE GROUND, THE FLOOR'S REALLY NICE AND COOL! Petrificus Totalus!"
As the boy acrobatically launched up from the ground like the spring of a Jack-in-a-Box, a bolt of white leapt from his wand and collided with the girl right in the center of her chest, locking her limbs in place if she so much as tried to reach for the blindfold that had freshly wrapped itself around her head. As she tumbled; Piérre's mouth moved faster than his brain. "Timber! See, the ground's really nice, innit?" There was no taunt, funnily enough. It was as if he was simply being honest with his words.
Well.. there was at least a little break of time for them... perhaps they could buff or recover... Piérre sucked his cheek for a moment as his brow furrowed in confusion. He glanced to Evelynn and fixed her with a look of utter confusion. "Why... why do I taste..." Like he was sucking on a penny...? "... copper?"
Kra-KOOM!
I would say that someone would have heard the subsequent shriek of the kid as he howled from the feeling of electricity burning out the nerves in his body as a bolt of lightning tried to find a way through his pseudo-conductive (and slightly elevated in comparison to anything else in the immediate area) body to the ground, but that would be a lie that the Narrator simply can't condone. No, there would only be the sound of thunder and the smell of electrical-burning hair. Piérre's clothes were ruined, and the kid would stagger from the slightly blackened ground that his feet had been standing on. A nasty electrical burn was slowly coming into focus into a pattern from his collarbone into his shirt that followed the path of his ribs. Hopefully that could be fixed... otherwise that would make both of the Marchonné twins bearers of marks of Zeus. And people said that they could tell them apart. Honestly, they're everything alike.
Coughing and stunned for a moment, Piérre suddenly felt like his brain was soup after having been put through a microwave. "Uhhhhh..." He blanked for a moment, trying to remember what he was doing. "Wh-what just happened?"
Something to do with a duel, wasn't it?
Oh yes, duel! That's right! That was right, wasn't it.
Duel... yes. Another spell. That was probably what he was supposed to do right now. Ach, well! Better start casting it, hm?Doing as Strategized

If you do, tag me and make it clear in your post. I will reach out to follow up with these as plot hooks for future RP with you, in addition to having Evelynn react to it in some fashion in the immediate moment.Without another word, Evelynn gave Pierre an understanding nod. Although she may not have been entirely convinced by the affirmation of his wellbeing, if they were going to have a chance, she needed to keep her focus forward. Their coordinated assault would prove effective. Even as a piece of conjured cloth wrapped itself around the elder's head to steal her sight, limbs would snap stiffly to her sides until she toppled.
It really did seem somewhat unfair. Lips crimped in contemplation as Evelynn allowed her own sights to settle on the helpless form of the Ravenclaw. To some degree, it bothered her to put the girl through such undignified treatment. Then again.. it wasn't as though they were likely to be able to hold out against her otherwise. Win by whatever means necessary.. right?
A thunderous crack jolted Evelynn from her contemplation, the air suddenly smelling of ozone and her hair taking it upon itself to partially defy gravity with newfound static. Eyes widened as she wheeled towards Pierre, hands stuff and knuckles white where they gripped her wand. Guilty relief washed over her with the realization that she'd narrowly avoided being struck by lightning, the storm clouds having returned to their side of the piste; but concern quickly replaced it. She didn't want to imagine how painful that must have been, and Pierre wasn't exactly the most durable. As seconds ticked by and he remained in his feet, however, it seemed she wouldn't have to do without him quite yet. Although that glazed look hardly provided much reassurance...

Phaedra could have sworn had paralysis not taken her tounge. Even the sharp crack of lightning at the other end brought little satisfaction—how unfortunate that even it paled in comparison to cheap tactic. This wasn't much of a duel if she couldn't participate, and so while counting the ceiling's tiles high above, heat prickling at her ears, Phaedra resigned herself to this endlessly torturous and boring fate.Doing as strategized (x)

Not much happened, which in itself was terrible for Phaedra. She emerged from the petrification, yes, and didn't even have to wait for the spell to wear off on its own, which was a decently impressive feat for the not particularly physically-inclined duellist. But that left her facing two opponents, blindfolded, not very much time left on the clock.
As for the Gryffindors, they'd taken the free moments to put themselves in the best position possible. Evelynn banished the troublesome potential of the storm cloud, making it Phaedra's problem, and Pierre granted himself a bit of relief from the sting of magic. They just had to hold out for a little longer, not make any stupid mistakes.

"Opportunities multiply as they are seized."~ Sun TzuWith the opposition on the ground, Piérre took the chance to attempt a healing spell. He did know a different, more powerful healing spell (that of the Episkey charm), but he wasn't totally sure that he would be able to successfully cast it. It was simply a little bit complicated, having to be able to visualize and channel the energy into a force that would heal. No... the poor kid was better suited for trying the more blasé and boring one. At least he knew he could cast that one efficiently and with little chance of failure outside that of an unfortunate backfire.
So, the healing spell it was. "Reparifors! He trilled out brightly as his wand easily released a bit of magic to take the edge off of the lightning strike. There were still burns to be had, but at least now Piérre knew that they were treatable. Good. He would be able to tend to his wounds in the privacy of the Nook when this was over and done... Yep, none of that hospitalization for him. He could do this all on his own.
With a small breath of relief that hissed through his front teeth, Piérre nodded again. "Yeh, I think I'll-a be A-okay." He said affirmatively, starting to feel his brain clear up a little bit as the mists of confusion faded away. Still, that electrifyingly calming presence was all-around, that sense of heightened awareness that came with a sting of adrenaline. The empath was still projecting his concerns. There was still so much that could go wrong. Even now, Piérre suspected that though the Ravenclaw upperclassman was blindfolded he and Evelynn would still experience some kind of stinging spell that would rock their constitutions once again. Well, at least Piérre suspected that he himself would be. Evelynn was actually looking hale and hearty. Had she been hit by anything this entire duel? Not even that Confringo blast? That was pretty impressive. Piérre wished that he had been that lucky himself.
Still, nothing was over yet, and the fear kept singing higher and higher in his veins as the metaphorical Davids continued to face their blindfolded Goliath. Wand spinning, a bit of a flashy movement that caused the wood to gleam with the reflected light all around the dueling club, Piérre grasped hold of it again as he called to mind his next incantation. This was a show for sure. He was the performer and this was his stage.
And everybody knew that Piérre Marchonné was always at home with eyes on him and performing for the entertainment of the crowd. It was his natural habitat.Doing as Strategized

Evelynn knew exactly what to do with that. It was off in the case that the dark clouds rumbling threateningly overhead could be ignored. More often than not, they simply sent a sense of unease across those that fell within its shadow. But they had already felt the effects of ignoring it. It was often said that lightning would not strike twice, but the former prefect was not about to put that to the test. With a deft motion of her wand, she conjured a gust of wind to send the clouds back from onc whence they came. Let the Ravenclaw contend with their own creation. For a moment, there was calm. Pierre took advantage to heal himself. But of course, the moment wouldn't last forever. The binds had been particularly effective against their upperclassmen earlier in the duel, but this time she would break free prematurely. There was only a little bit of time left on the clock, and the Gryffindors seemed to have the upper hand, but it was still anybody's game really, and Evelynn squared up with quiet resolve to see it through.
