Quidditch Gryffindor vs Slytherin - Spring 2023

Zoe slapped herself, hard. Her nerves were getting the better of her and though the daunting thoughts of defending the goalposts against Slytherin's relentless offense was swirling in her mind, she needed to stay confident and definitely less shaky than she was at the moment. She hopped on her most prized possession, her broom, and took off into the air. Before long, Zoe could feel the cool wind on her hair, the afternoon sun on her face and the sheer determination coming from every single person on her team.

There was a flurry of motion in the center of the pitch as the Chasers each gunned for the Quaffle, but while four players dove for the ball, it seemed to be a battle between just two. Avery seemed to have the upper hand at first glance, but Haley wouldn’t let him win that easily. The two duked it out, possession alternating between the Slytherin and the Gryffindor, as Maggie and Jay trailed behind. But through no lack of effort, neither Chaser managed to rack up many points for their team. The Keepers were on fire today: in the face of assault after assault on the goals, Koko and Zoe would give up but one goal each. Although it was an aggressive start to the match on both sides, it would remain a tie game-- for now.

Erin would waste no time out of the gate. She struck one of the Bludgers, sending it hurtling towards a fellow Beater. Ethan, focused himself on aiming one of the iron ammunitions, would stand no chance. The ball collided with enough force to likely daze the boy, but he would desperately hang on to his broom. Ping-ponging off of its original target, the Bludger would careen towards Elena with a promise of pain, and deliver nothing less.

Meanwhile, Pax set their sights on the enemy Seeker. The attack would fly true, leaving Dan not a second to swerve out of the way. He would likely have the wind knocked out of him from the force of the blow, but would not waver, staying strong upon his broom. Years of experience as a target must have built up his stamina, because there was no way he would be taken down that easily. But the game was not over yet, and this would be far from the last time Dan was at the receiving end of a Bludger.

Although Ethan was not quite as quick to the attack as the other two Beaters, his assault would be more brutal than the the other two combined. Dan, likely still reeling, would have barely a moment to regain his bearings before a second impact would not only send him tumbling from his broom, but shatter his precious, expensive Firebolt into shards that rained down upon the pitch below. Ouch, that oughta hurt. A savior, Cassandra, would swoop in to save Dan from the pain of hitting the pitch, but the pain of his broken broom may never heal. Then, as if seeking revenge for its master, the Bludger would ricochet off of Dan and make a beeline for Erin, landing a hit just as solid in retaliation. It was a bloodbath on the pitch already, and the match had only just begun.

The Seekers were, naturally, off doing whatever it is that Seekers do. Kind of just sitting there looking around. It seemed to be working for one of them: Dan would catch the slightest glimpse of the Snitch-- just enough to take off in its direction in hot pursuit. Surely Elena would be close behind, but it seemed that her eyes were not quite as keen as her competitor’s.

Just as Ethan was getting settled on his broom, boom! Someone sends him a nasty little bludger, and whoo boy, is it a doozy! and just before the bludger can bring him down, he grips onto his broom for dear life. 
 
But Ethan's not about to go down without a fight. “Eat this, Slytherin!” he yelled, sending a bludger right back, striking Dan hard enough to drop him from his broom and shatter it into pieces. But Ethan isn't done yet. He's out for revenge, and his next target is Erin. He ricocheted the bludger at her, but it wasn't enough to bring her down.

• Bludger attacks that knock a player off a broom (KOB) made by players with this ability have a 25% chance to also break said player's broom. Bludgering, bludger backbeats, and richochets apply.

The game so far, was a tie. That could be a good thing, or a bad one, but Hannah thought this was a good thing, since if they scored more points, and caught the snitch, they would win.

Hannah had high hopes for this, since their last game did not do too well, so far everything was okay. Well, a tie is a tie. Suddenly, her nerves started to hit, the girl was rarely nervous, but Quidditch... It was probably one of the the best thing she had accomplished, getting into the team... being here. What if she fell, like last time? Hopefully not.. she thought.

Winning was something she wanted to do, winning was something she would try to do, well her and Gryffindor.

The Game began incredibly fast and perhaps Beatrice was just not used to this, but the adrenaline soaring through her seemed to be too much to just sit on the bench. Her own team appeared to be doing quite good, scoring some points, hitting some targets. Beatrice's sea colored eyes jumped back and forth between the players as she tried to take in every detail of the game. It would be unlikely that she had to play today but it was still quite exciting. Her heart was beating fast and suddenly it picked up even more. Dan had been hit, not once but twice. His Firebolt shattered just after he started to fall. Gladly, Cassandra caught him.
The game was quite intense, the weather nice and you could basically feel the adrenaline and fighting spirit in the air.

The chase was on! Avery dove for the quaffle, and was rewarded for his efforts. Take that! As the quaffle soared through Gryffindor's hoops, he clenched a fist for his first goal. However, amidst the action he saw Dan fall from his splintered broom, but luckily onto Cash's. Darn, that was close!

The match was difficult to call with both sides scoring points and hits against players. He had let out a whoop when @Dan Palmer was knocked off his broom, but his joy didn't last very long. Having experienced what it was like to plummet toward the ground, he winced and to his own surprise was a bit relieved to see the boy get caught in one piece. The same couldn't be said for his broom though, the firebolt had completely shattered. He wondered if it could be repaired. Judging by the collective groan passing through the sea of green on the spectator stands, he figured it perhaps couldn't. Slytherin would be wanted revenge for that and given that they'd already hit some of the Gryffindor players, they were likely to get it soon.

And it begun! Pax took a successful swing at Dan, feeling good as it hit. The last game had them doubting their abilities, but this reassured them that they still were capable. With the help of Ethan's powerful hit, the Slytherin seeker was sent tumbling, though to be caught. On the chaser and keeper game, it was somewhat evenly matched, but at least Haley had scored. Things seemed to be going ok.

"Look alive!" they called out. Even though it was going fine, the team had to stay vigilant.

Percival maneuvered his broom to rest against his upper shoulder. Leaning forward to let his chin rest on top of his hands that clutched the broom handle. The boy stared up towards the sky with a blank look of annoyance resting clearly upon his face. Yeah today kinda sucked, well this entire year kinda sucked. He was honestly done with this year, and everyone in it.

Ha! There it was! Right off the bat, Dan saw the snitch! All he had to do now was-
And at that moment, Dan was blasted off his broom by Ethan. Thankfully, he thought to have someone on standby to save.

But when his vision stopped swirling and he looked down, he saw his Firebolt falling to the ground in splinters.
That's the second time something precious to him was destroyed by a damn Beater. Jorah had already felt what it was like to cross him, but Ethan was in for a living hell once Dan could be bothered to initiate it. Gods grant pity on that poor, clearly out of his depth 2nd year, because Dan sure wouldn't.

But first, let's teach him how to cope with failure.

"Cass! Thanks for the catch, Let's go!"
