Sad Farewells, Happy Hellos PV Lu Completed

By chance, I was near the door when it had got knocked upon leaving me no choice but to open it. When I did I saw that I had no clue who the other people were. “Uh, hello? How can we help you?” I asked with a confused look on my face. Did they got the wrong house? I thought back to what this looked like, looked like it. The girl said hi back and introduced themselves and the other two people.

“Interesting names,” I heard my mother comment as she came up behind me. I knew it wouldn’t be long before she came to see who was at the door. She said I should recognise her brothers and yeah, they did look a little familiar but I had never interacted with them.

I got stuff shoved into my hands and I was really confused. “I- I’m sorry. But why are you here?” I asked, alternating who I was staring at. These random people show up at my doorstep and hand me a box and a letter? I turned to my mum, “You can leave, mother. I… know these from school,” after a warning look at the guests she left. I shoved the ring in my pocket of my shorts for now and opened the letter up.

By the time I had finished reading my eyes were blurry with unshed tears and my hands were shaking. “She- she’s dead?” I asked with a quiver in my throat and wobbly bottom lip. “Like, dead-dead?” a lone tear fell down my cheek as I remembered the fun times we had together. Blocking out out last few. I took the ring out my pocket and folded the letter up, putting it the rings place. I opened the box and gasped, that was so nice! I stared at the ring with wide eyes, reaching out to grasp it in my hands. “It’s beautiful,” I whispered. I looked at the people in front of me.

“How did she die?” I asked quietly. Did I even want to know? Was it some illness she never told me about? Surely not. Did she feel guilty? Did… do you think she ever wanted me dead? Like, when she gave Ava the knife, she she want me dead. Is that why did she do it. Or didn’t she know what Ava wanted with the knife.

And then there was the funeral! I was angry. They shouldn’t be allowed to do this! Her close friends and I should have been allowed to attend her funeral.

Although I am grateful to be allowed to see her gravestone.

-----Phantom stared at the boy as he ready the letter. "Well shit, you made him cry" Ghoul piped up. She stamped on his foot. "OW, what was that for?" he whined. "You know exactly what that was for" she hissed. "I'm sorry for your loss, we are all grieving at this time" she said trying to comfort the boy. "Nope, just you and him" Salem said. She rolled her eyes before and turned her attention back to the boy who had finished reading the letter "She-She's dead? Like dead dead? He asked. "No, we just decided this morning we wanted to give you a letter that informed you of a friend of yours death and buy an expensive ring, just for the hell of it" Ghoul said glaring. "THAT'S ENOUGH, GO WAIT OVER THERE" she shouted pointing towards the distance. She watched them go and then turn her attention once again to the boy. "How did she die?" the boy asked. Phantom bit her lip "She uh she drowned, she went swimming in the lake in her backyard. Her brother did try to save her if it makes you feel better" she said sadly. "Well, I should probably get going if i'm going to be in time for dinner, sorry to leave on this note but I thought you had a right to know what happened to her" she said walking down the front steps before turning around "I guess i'll see you around Hogwarts next year" she said winking. Then she turned around and joined her brothers and they walked off into the sunset.

I hastily wiped my eyes at Ghouls comment; boys don’t cry. A chuckle was heard as Phantom stepped on her brothers foot. It seemed as though Ghoul is going to be an interesting character. Phantom said something in a different language so I focused more on the ring, looking at it with a fond smile.

I rolled my eyes at Salem’s comment and offhandedly asked if she was really dead earning the most sarcastic response ever. Phantom shouted at the older boy but I took my turn to glare at him too. “I was only asking, you stuck up git!” I snapped at him, “My friend is dead! I’m in shock. So shut your goddamn mouth before I shut it for you!” prick. I sighed and let my body relax a little.

I heard how Thorn’s brother tried to save her but honestly, that made it worse; I wonder if she suffered in her few moments or it was quick. The thought made my tear up again but I wiped them away before a snide comment could be made. “That’s awful! I always thought she could swim?”

Phantom mentioned she had to leave for dinner. “Bye, Phantom. I’m very sorry for your loss,” I said to her. “And yeah. I will see you around,” and that’s when I sent an angry glare to Ghoul and closed the door.
