Lightning
Reducio
vs Evelynn: [d20: 5] → no strike
vs Pierre: [d20: 15] → no strike
Ravenclaw was down, to be sure, but not yet out. And Cassius made it incredibly clear he had no interest in going down. Both Gryffindors leveled jinxes at him, and either one of them could have taken him out, had he not been fast enough, had he surrendered to the pain of the explosion mere moments ago. But he didn't, and he dodged both.

That didn't mean things were looking up for Ravenclaw, necessarily. Phaedra was still very much stuck, the bonds of the spell refusing to bend. Cassius conjured a storm cloud over Evelynn and Pierre, which could be beneficial in the long run, but for now it just crackled ominously.

The next spell seemed obvious. Evelynn had the same idea.

Twin flipendos would whizz through the air, but perhaps it was because of the up and incoming whipping storm that would throw off their aims as the cloud crackles with mildly threatening lightning.

Of course; no duel was complete without at least one instance of Metelojinx. Silly Piérre.

Huffing a bit but realizing nothing had really changed... Well... They had somewhere to go from here. There was definitely a plan of attack to be had.

Keep pressing the advantage. Never let them have a break.

As ready as the lions were to pad their advantage and secure victory, it wouldn't happen quite yet. Stavrou lay motionless on the ground, a quiet blessing in and of itself, but their junior wouldn't go down quite so easily. Whether it was Evelynn and Pierre that were becoming sluggish with fatigue or Eden was particularly elusive, he would nonetheless remain standing in valiant defiance. Truly inconvenient, really.

No matter. There was still some time and as long as they didn't allow the stress of urgency to skew their attempts, they could still pull through. Hopefully. Mayhaps. With the growing density of coalescing clouds overhead, Evelynn found her eyes darting upwards. Although often left alone, those black clouds promised untold agony to the unlucky few that drew a strike of lightning. It was something that could quickly change to tide of battle and she wasn't terribly keen on having that ominous presence directly above her. Like a pillow pressed into the stage, it stifled their continued fight and threatened to snuff the last of their reserves.

Still, they couldn't quit. Not yet. And so she returned her attention forward to press on.

Despite Phaedra’s situation, the lack of a body collapsing next to her at round’s end was a reassurance. Had her facial muscles been capable, one could imagine the scrunch of her nose as she concentrated on the task at hand; regaining movement starting from the fingers. They could play in this manner all they wanted—she still wasn’t going to pick up a dumbbell.

The Gryffindors, in a manner only reinforcing his generalized perception of them, proved to be as predictable as he assumed they would be. Finish him off with a brunt force attack while his partner was down. How utterly mundane, the young Ravenclaw thought to himself as he guessed correctly and dodged the incoming spells. At the same time he cast his own spell, a dark cloud quickly forming over the lions with ominous intent.

While the lightning ultimately failed to strike twice, Cassius was still very much alive and very much again feeling his full readiness return to him. Still standing, he raised his wand and readied for what was to come next. This bird still had talons.

Despite all of Cassius' valiant efforts to dodge, and one last attempt to distract Pierre's aim with tickling, this would be the end for him. Pierre wasn't afraid to try something again if it didn't work at first, and it would pay off, Flipendo connecting harshly with his shoulder. Especially after the Confringo, that would prove enough.

"Stop." Bridget spent the pause eyeing the storm cloud anxiously, now hovering over the Ravenclaws thanks to Evelynn, wand at the ready to throw up a shield if it decided this was the perfect moment to deal unnecessary damage to the third year. But for once it didn't strike, and Cassius was removed. In that time, Phaedra was finally released from the bonds of Petrificus Totalus. It was too late to do any of the things she could have done for her teammate if she'd been up, which couldn't be an encouraging thought to retake her feet with. There was really nothing to do but bring her focus and strength and ready for the two on one to come.

Piérre was insane, that was in particular the reason he kept trying something over and over again and expected a totally different result.

And you know what? Sometimes it did pay off.

With the hooking of the spellcast and the slanted checkmark that he traced along with it, Piérre incanted the very Swiss Knife spell of the duelist's arsenal. Damage, damage, and more damage. With a twirl as he negotiated the feather-trace incantation of Rictusempra, Piérre completed his own enchantment and sent a bolt out of the blue towards the younger blue-clad student. "Flipendo!"

Aiming towards the largest center of mass, Piérre made contact with him at the shoulder and the spellwork did the rest. He wasn't the best at casting spells, but with a little help from opportunity and the ability to be at least moderately consistent with his abilities, it seemed to be enough to foot the bill of defeat for the kid.

Was this... the first time that he had managed to knock someone out during his entire dueling career? Sure, he had dealt some moderate damage in some duels before, but he had never once been the one to deal the 'finishing blow' as it were. Was there... hm... was there a good sendoff for this kind of moment? Piérre liked to think that there was, though admittedly he wasn't the best at being original. Then again, he did quite like poking fun at his own heritage and the somewhat (ahem) tight-knit societies that his people were known for forming both in his own native country and in other places to which they immigrated.

For lack of a funnier thing to envision, the best thing that came to Piérre's mind was that although the effects were not permanent he had just performed a duelist's iteration of a hit. As lightning--blown over to the other side of the platform to the Ravenclaw team by Eevee--continued to crackle idly overhead, Piérre snickered a bit to himself and then gave a small sideeye to his partner. Still rather shaken up, at least he was trying to make an effort to be funny. "Lascia la pistola, prendi i cannoli. Leave the gun, take the cannoli." Along with his words he mimed tossing something aside with his fingers in the shape of an imitation handgun before picking up something like a small pastry.

All this while the older student seemed to gradually regain control of her body. "Ahwah! Why can-a she get back to her feet and-a break-a the bodybind when we pause for her teammate but I can't-a put myself out when I'm-a lit on fire?" He complained almost childishly as his accent slipped through with exasperation, tilting his head to the skies as if to vent his complaints with God himself. (OOC I know the rules, I'm just messing IC.)

"Ahhhh..." He chuckled to himself again as he tried to reobtain his thoughts and focus on the situation at hand again. His mind was already wandering again, overfilled with all these thoughts and concerns and things to do and not do. 'What next?' was the real question.

Eevee and he were really starting to work like a team now... they just had to figure out what their next move was going to be. And whatever that move was going to be, they had to stay light on their feet; Piérre didn't want to be waking up and having to awkwardly explain and/or apologize to Cassius for what have you and everything, you know? It's a little awkward to be talking to the person who knocked out out in a duel, especially if the Hospital Wing is a terrible place and you end up bunked right next to that person.

And then the next few moments were a blur of movement again.

It was only a matter of time before something shifted. Stavrou wouldn't stay down forever, Evelynn knew, but neither was it likely that Eden would be able to dodge everything slung his way. He was nimble; she'd give him that. Pierre, however, was one of the keenest casters she knew. That he hadn't yet been able to make his mark had left her with a growing sense of frustration, but faith would not desert her.

Leaving him to tend to their only real threat in that moment, Evelynn turned her attention to the clouds above, skillfully summoning a gust of wind to send the ominous weather pattern off to the other side of the piste. She wanted nothing to do with it, and was rewarded by the sound of a thud followed swiftly by a call to pause. She would, wand lowering to her side so as not to have it inadvertently pointed at their referee as Collins moved in to collect the clipped Ravenclaw. A subtle smile cast itself off in Pierre's direction, grey eyes seeking his to grant a silent acknowledgement of a job well done.

That was one down... Now if they could just stay standing long enough to handle their senior, perhaps they might actually end this season on a positive note...

And there it was; the inevitable thud of her partner’s collapse. Phaedra climbed to her feet at a more lackadaisical pace than expected from someone in her predicament, strikingly emotionless as her hand fanned debris from atop a shoulder. This situation was reminiscent of the summer games, but she’d endured that outnumbered by three, hadn’t she? The memory would only bring out a great fire within her, and with a solid stance, her eyes grew determined. Her defeat wouldn’t be so simple.

Pierre braced for an attack that wasn't coming, shield thrown up in front of him. Or, at least, that was the intent. By the sparking, sputtering looks of it, the shield had been an utter failure. Still, it didn't cost him anything, because Phaedra had similarly chosen to play defensive. Hers was more justified, the attempt at petrifying her flying in from Evelynn; it connected with a solid shield to fade out.

It wasn't a very exciting moment, but after losing Cassius, maybe it was a needed deep breath. Phaedra had more time to think of how she would approach an uneven battlefield, and Gryffindor now needed to reevaluate their attempt at a very careful strategy. The time of the clock was in its descent toward the end now.
