Rose lifted her hands above her head in a stretch, trying to choose a place to sit in the Great Hall. She had been at classes all day, and felt a little bit exhausted already. It was Friday, and she was so close to the weekend. At least most of her classes so far had been interesting. Rose was glad that she had chosen to take ancient runes a couple of years ago- a lot of people thought that it was going to be boring and had turned it down, but Rose was honestly enjoying it. It had put her in a good mood, too.

But now she was here, in the Great Hall. Rose was hungry, and she was careful not to get into the habit of skipping meals. Whenever her sister, Faith, mentioned that she had skipped a meal, Rose would always tell her off, adamant that eating was important. Rose was a firm believer in taking care of yourself, no matter how much homework you had. There wasn't anybody there that she really felt sitting by at the moment, and she had some reading to do for Muggle Studies, so she took a seat at the Gryffindor Table and started to serve herself some food. She pulled out her textbook and flipped through the pages, trying to find the passage that was related to what they were learning.

Although Rose was having a good day so far, there was somebody else who wasn't.

Since Quidditch matches had been over some months ago and so does Duelling, Cash had no other choice than to put their work in. They had no other reason why they procrastinated on their homework any longer. Being a Prefect does not mean that Cash had the privilege of NOT doing their homework.

In fact, on the contrary, being a Prefect they need to show a good ample example. Sometimes it put a bit of pressure on the green eyes' shoulders since they need to set a good example or maybe someone looked up to them but Cash knew when they become one what responsibilities they have to carry with the badge that was always pinned somewhere on to of their school uniform or robes.

Cash looked up and messaging their stiff neck. Their half-eaten lunch had been pushed aside in exchange for clearing the table for them to work on their Muggle Studies homework. The thing was Muggle Studies was not Cash's elective study to choose rather than it was what their mother ordered suggested them to take.

In their mother's words, Cash needed to take Muggle Studies so they could be more related to those who were not Pureblood like they were and to teach them more about tolerance since in Cash's mother's words, Cash as of late, starting to get more and more looks like their father. The Beater let out a sigh and shake their numb hands from all the writing on their parchment.

When Cash entered the Great Hall, they just grabbed their portion of lunch quickly without thinking about which table they took a seat on. The homework they had been doing for the last couple of minutes was about Film and Theather. Though in the lesson the Professor suggested Cash do their research in Library, Cash did not do so.

They avoid going to the library and merely rely on om what their friends told them. If you looked closely at their parchment, there were a lot of scratches here and there. Cash knitted their eyebrow in frustration. The question only consists of 3 questions but it is enough to give the fourth-year Slytherin a headache.

"Stupid mud-blood and their need to be equal"Muttered Cash under their breath out of annoyance. Unbeknownst to them someone hear what they said and Cash too busy dwellig on their growing headache to care who listen to their low insult.

Rose didn't really see Cash sit down near her, as the redhead was engrossed in the Muggle Studies textbook. Sure, she had learned quite a bit from what her mother knew about Muggles, but since all the experience her mother had with Muggles was second-hand, it went nowhere near as in-depth as the Muggle Studies curriculum did. Rose was fascinated by all the inner workings of Muggles, and how they functioned completely oblivious to magic.

It always made her think of her dad. Rose knew she had to make him proud, even though she never knew him. She was sipping some water and pondering all of this- the curriculum, Muggles, and her father, when she heard out of the blue-

"Stupid mud-blood and their need to be equal"

Rose choked on the water she was sipping, and she put the glass down. "What did you say?" she blurted, sounding not offended or angry, but shocked. The feeling overpowered all other feelings in her body for that moment. The redhead blinked, and the face that had said it became clear.

Cash. A Slytherin that had been good friends with who used to be her best friend. Rose had interacted with them first when a howler was sent by their mother, causing the entire Great Hall to hear their mother scream at them. Rose still felt bad that they had a mother willing to embarrass them in front of what could have been the entire school. They had been part of a huge misunderstanding a couple years ago, too, when a whole bunch of cauldrons had exploded in the potions room.

The redhead actually had very positive views on Cash, and had always been cheered up when the Slytherin was around. They were a pretty good person, and fun to be around. Quickly, Rose tried to amend the outburst. "Oh, I'm so sorry- I must have misheard you, I just thought I heard somebody say- something kind of mean," Rose said, her cheeks flushing in embarrassment. She hoped Cash didn't think she was snapping at her, or about to lecture them about blood status, since Cash couldn't have just said that, could they?

Could they?

Mudblood was a horrible word. Rose knew muggle-born people, and knew that they were just as talented, if not more talented, than any pureblood. More lineage didn't mean that anybody had any less magic, and Rose thought that by now, that was common knowledge. She thought that most of the discrimination towards muggle-borns was in the past, something that wasn't accepted at all today.

It definitely wasn't something Cash would say... right?

There was a lot of angry and frustrated scratches all over Cash's homework assignment for the Muggle Studies. If only their mother did not threathen talk sternly to the green eyes if they did not take the darn subject they will be sent away to their grandparents from their father's side house, Cash will not voluntarily take Muggle Studies as one of their electives in the first place.

The growing headache that pounding against theBeater's skull also did not help their case. Cash angrily turns the pages of their Muggle Studies textbook trying to find the right answer to the annoying question that staring at them. "Ugh, seriously!"Cash muttered annoyedly to themselves when they hear a page gotten ripped from how aggressively Cash turned the damn book.

Then a snappy voice coming not too far from them. Cash instantly looked up. "Do you mind- Oh hey, Rose!"They uttered annoyedly but when they realize it was one of their friend, the Cuban change their tone. Cash was ready to give their piece of mind to whoever dared to disturb them in their crisis. The young Ironwoods blinked their eyes for a moment.

They wondered how long Rose sat near them and whether she heard Cash's insult. Seeing Rose Moon again after this long time brings back some memories. Some were good, some - well - Cash's rather not talk about it. Seeing Rose Moon also reminded them of Henry. Henry, Rose, and one other person were there when the Howler from their mother yapping about in the Hall.

Rose was one of their good friends and it was a shame that Cash could not maintain that relationship. But perhaps this afternoon was where both the fourth-years presence in the room was meant to be. Maybe today was the time for Cash to rekindle their forgotten friendship. So many questions running in their mind.

They wanted to ask if perhaps by any chance and miracle, Rose knew something about Henry. But then again, Cash was not ready to open and revisited that old wound. They also wanted to know whether Rose heard their no-so-unkind words that spewing from their mouth or not. Cash then turned their angle so they were facing the redhead fully.

"Oh, I'm so sorry- I must have misheard you, I just thought I heard somebody say- something kind of mean,"The Lioness said. Cash took a deep breath to hide their wince. So Rose did heard the angry outburst. Cash gritted their jaw while trying to wreck up their brain to come up with some answers or even some excuse but nothing came into their mind.

There were certain people that Cash was easy to lie to and there were some certain people that Cash - for their dear life - could not lie at and Rose Moon fell into the latter category. The other girl shows nothing but kindness when the young socialite needed the most. Though the incident happened ages ago, Cash felt grateful that Henry and Rose were there when Cash's whole life crashed down.

They open and closed their mouth like a fish out of the water. That was no use of Cash worming out of the situation. Might as well make this into a discussion and hopefully it did not end up in an argument with the Gryffindor. Cash then pushed their Muggle Studies essentials aside and turn into a serious mode.

They took a little sip of the tea that lay forgotten because of how frustrated they are with the subject. Smiling, Cash's eyes bore into Rose Moon's. "So, you do not think they are a disgrace and useless in our world?"Cash said as they begin the debate with their fellow yearmate.

Cash quickly snapped back at Rose, but stopped herself when they realized it was Rose. Rose was, at first, a little surprised by the Slytherin's hostility, but she was relieved a little when the Slytherin's mood shifted and the anger faded a little from their green eyes.

Rose stuttered to try to clean up her own snappy tone at Cash, since she hadn't really meant to say anything out loud. It had just shocked her so much to hear that word, that ugly word. Rose wasn't a muggle-born witch herself, but she still knew that to others the word was incredibly insulting. But Cash wouldn't say that. They knew better. They must have had people that they knew that went to Hogwarts that were muggle-born. The population at Hogwarts certainly wasn't small. How could they say that when they probably had classmates or friends that were muggle-born? Or maybe they just let it slip. But they couldn't really mean it.

However, Rose was starting to have her doubts when Cash's jaw tensed up. She couldn't quite read the Slytherin. Was that fury? Annoyance? Regret? But they didn't deny the fact that they did say it, and they weren't trying to come up with any excuses or explanations. They froze for a moment, almost like a deer in headlights, and then their expression shifted to a serious one, and then they smiled.

"So, you do not think they are a disgrace and useless in our world?" Cash asked.

Rose's eyes widened, clearly shocked at the nature of the question. It almost implied that Cash did think that. "No, that's awful!" she said, shaking her head. "Muggle-born witches and wizards are just as good as any pureblood witch or wizard. Just because they don't have history in the magical world doesn't mean they're... a disgrace. Or useless. I thought everybody knew that," she said. Her voice wasn't judgmental, but it did carry a note of concern, as she was truly shocked that Cash would say something like that. "Do- do you think that they're a disgrace?" she asked.

This topic was making Rose slightly uncomfortable. Would Cash think any less of her if she found out that her father was a muggle? Rose thought that biased and prejudiced views against muggle-borns had died out decades ago. She didn't think that there were truly any remaining people her age that really thought that muggle-born witches and wizards were somehow unworthy of magic or less than in any way. She thought that all people knew how talented muggle-borns could be, just like any pureblood witch or wizard could. Sure, purebloods probably had some kind of a head start in learning magic because of their heritage and the fact that they grew up around magical people. They probably knew about all kinds of spells, potions, creatures, and abilities that were connected to magic. But this slight disadvantage that muggle-borns were posed didn't make them at all useless.

What was Cash saying?
