Brooms at the Ready!
Despite some of them being new to the sport, the team going for gold appears to have a solid head start. Although there hasn't been much progress, it's safe to say that their performance was quite profound. Ashley had to catch up and make progress despite how embarrassing it was to stay within the same unit. It's incredible to see how far his teammates have progressed.
"Flipendo`d huh!" Due to a player on the opposing team being affected by the spell the young man had cast, he had a little grin on his face. What a better approach to start the game with minor thrills that build in intensity over time. How fantastic.
Ashley rode his broom along the path he was on, appearing to be concentrated on the path ahead. The wind felt like it was slicing into his eyes, so he squinted. He moved quickly to keep up with what was coming, and now everything will come together. For balance, he carefully gripped the flying broom in one hand and his wand in the other. He had been preparing himself in case a member of the opposing team used a spell, so to speak. In this game, caution was key, and the entire play required maintaining attentiveness.

And, we're off! As soon as the game starts, the action starts. What to do first? I decide to cast a spell to see if I can throw the other team off. There weren't a lot I knew, but one of them might just work...the Bubble-Producing Charm! "Bullarem Immortalem!" I yelled. As soon as I did, a stream of bubbles burst from my wand, covering the whole space in a flurry of bubbles.
I watched as spells whizzed around this way and that. Rai, my teammate, got Flipendo'ed by one of the girls on the other team, and by none other than that Ashley person. I winced as Rai got the full effect of the spell. I looked to see that one of the girls on the other team(What was her name, Beatrice?)was casting a spell at me. I managed to dodge her spell for it to miss.
I could feel that my eyes were the size of golf balls now, and then I watched as Odi, the boy on my team, tried to cast a spell at Beatrice. Unfortunately, he missed. I got on my broom and started flying. In my path were a bunch of trees...it wasn't easy, I hit one of the trees in fact. "Ah!" I yelled. Even though there were minor mishaps, the race had gone off to a good start and seemed to be doing well.

Heart racing, blood pumping, adrenaline rushing. As this is Raizel’s first broom race, the thrill is there along with nervousness. She’s no pro in flying and from what she had seen, broom racing can be dangerous. Going into position, she began to wonder how this would go. Probably not one of them leaving unscathed considering the obstacles they are facing. She looked over her team and then the others, eagerly waiting for the go signal. Once the race began, the racers took off. The first year Gryffindor decided to utilize the speed of her broom, trying to build distance between the other racers of the other team. Unfortunately for her, someone on the other team had her on their target list, shooting out a spell almost immediately right at the start of the race. How many times had she been hit by the knockback jinx? It was becoming too frequent that her love for the spell began to falter. Then again, for first years, that’s the best spell they probably have.
She felt the spell hit her right on the chest, the force from it making her lose speed and slight control from the broom but she managed. Raizel gritted her teeth, leaning forward to get back into tracks, not wanting to just let herself fall behind. Trees were up ahead and while it was reckless of her to go zooming in, she still did. She dodges a couple and then ends up rushing through branches, breaking them and maybe earning a couple of scrapes and then hitting one of the tree as she tries to avoid it and almost losing control. Luckily, she didn’t crash into it. That’d be terrible. Crashing into a person was bad enough. Vines soon came into view. Easy enough, hopefully. Worst case scenario, getting tangled in them. Still, she went on as fast as she could with no signs of slowing down and surprisingly enough, she managed. A wave of relief washed over her as she glanced back over her shoulder, knowing full well that she wasn’t that far ahead. Gotta prepare for what’s next.

Soaring up as high as they were instructed to by the racing rules, Odi took one last look over the teams, counting them in his head as though he were a border collie tallying sheep. Raizel, Aurora, Duvessa, Ashley… He caught sight of Beatrice again. He had never noticed it before, but her eyes were not actually brown. Now that he was seeing her in the full light they looked a more sea foam green in colour, perhaps one might describe it as blue?
Just as he thought this, he noticed there were forming on her cheeks as her face steadied itself in preparation for the race to come. She was really quite pretty- Odi thought enviously about how her existence must be to exist in such a lovely state without the obsessive worship caused by Veela magic.
He hadn’t even noticed that the that Fang was counting down when he heard her holler “GO!” And all at once everyone seemed to be moving at double speed. Some racers had cast spells while some had sped ahead out of fear of being hit. Registering Raizel getting hit with the knockback jinx in the corner of his eye, Odi cursed loudly, tearing his attention away from Beatrice. How could he have let himself get so sidetracked this early in the race?
He leaned forward on his broom, the wind felt like it was about to take his ears off his head as he zoomed forward through the open sky. Focus Wilde, He thought to himself as he pressed his body to the broomstick. He silently vowed to keep his attention solely on winning from here on out.

The race continued with a lot of excitement and daring moves from all the players. Ying was impressed with the dedication of all of the participants, for first years in their first broom race they were behaving exceptionally good and taking all the risks with courage and not backing down from giving it all. Spells kept being cast against each other, this time non of them hit the target but all of the firsties kept flying ahead towards new challenges. "Good job guys!" Ying happily called out to them with encouragement.
Odilon Wilde and Ashley Montez were following each other finally entering the treacherous woods. Brooms at the Ready!

The young man was busy casting spells against those who were making headway in the race, demonstrating his heart of a duelist. The way he carried himself during the race had been pretty humorous, so it was disappointing when he was unable to throw an effective spell at one of his targets. He must be now being frowned at by the battle deities.
However, given that the rest of the competitors were far ahead of him and that he was staying put, things did not appear to be looking good for the young man. "Hehe, you're forgetting yourself, Montez!" Well, he couldn't be blamed because he loved the excitement of spells and battles, and wondering up at the sky soaring like a Raven usually wasn't his style at all. However, he had to be careful to keep broom racing and duels separate. He needed to accelerate his pace.
When he realised that time had passed and he needed to move forward in the race, he would let that sink into his thick skull. The Broom Racing and Quidditch captains would have for certainly barred him from joining if this had been continued. He didn't have the heart of a Flying student; he had the heart of a duelist. If the Flying Professor notices this, he might even stop the student from enrolling in flying classes in the future (jokes).

Today just wasn't my day, was it now? Me, Rai, and Beatrice were all speeding against the winds on our brooms, and we were all taking control of the race. It was a bit like riding a rollercoaster if I had to describe the sensation of broom racing. Except, you were in control of the rollercoaster. I could feel my stomach dipping and soaring as I did the same, and it wasn't pleasant.
At least I never felt super nauseous though, I wonder why. Anyway, I was too busy trying to stay on my broom as I went as fast as I could go, which was quite fast. After getting through the rough patch of trees, I saw another obstacle ahead: vines! Determined, I sailed right through and felt my heart skip a beat as I saw one of the vines snagging one of my allies, Odilon. Gritting my teeth, I kept on flying.
If I thought that the trees were hard, then it was nothing compared to the next frigid challenge. The snowfall seemed to bear down on me, hard, showing no mercy and only cruelty. No! It was hard, and I didn't make it through. Ugh. This really wasn't my day. I stayed where I was, urging myself to keep going, even though my head felt like it had been smushed through a blender, which also wasn't pleasant.

After the trees, Beatrice watched as Vines came nearer and nearer. Her heart thumbed in her chest as she tried to fly through them as gracefully as she could. She was incredibly fast and as she swooshed through the plants, she made out Aurora rather close to her. Looking back for a second, Beatrice thought that she saw someone getting swooped from their broom but with the speed she had, she could not be sure that it had in fact happened or that there even was someone behind her.
The wind made her eyes water slightly as she evaded the possibly deathly plant strings in graceful motions. Who knew if those vines would not catch someone and hug them tight in their arms, taking the ability to breath or move. They passed through more units and a grin spread across Beatrice's lips, however that would not last as long as she wanted it to. For now everything was easy but soon something cold and unexpected would hit her and the flyers competing with her.
Looking up, Beatrice, Aurora and Raizel would all fly into a heavy snowfall, it's cold getting right through Beatrice's thin leggings and Slytherin jumper. It seemed as if the frost tried to pull her from her speed and she knew that she would not go without damage from this cold in the speed she had if she was not careful. After all, bad weather was one of the most dangerous conditions to fly in as they had learned in flying class. Beatrice was struggling with the weather and barely made it to where she thought unit 7 was.Doing as Strategised

The Slytherin was not loosing without a fight. Wand out like a sword and eyes fiery as a fire, she began racing at top speed that she could manage. Her teammate, Bea, seemed to have managed to fly ahead, only beaten by Aurora. Duvessa trailed behind them, casting a worried look around her. Was attack coming?
Then, just as she was nearing Raizel, she took her chance. She guessed that Raizel would have tried to attack her, so she cast her spell about the same time as the Gryffindor cast's hers. She produced a well managed Knockback Jinx, which she must have been proud of but Raizel cast the dancing feet spell, gladly missing. It was a shame that she didn't hit the target, but Duvessa tried to carry on and speed up - she had a game to win.
Unfortunately, her teammate Ashley Montez seemed to have a bad start, for he was way behind. Duvessa was not the lead, in fact, she was third to last. Well, that was not the worst but the fiery snake wanted to get ahead. She took one last look around her, and then clung on to her broom more tightly than ever.

And so the race went on, spells continued to be fired. The sky is a battlefield for these racers and they will do anything to prevent the other team from grabbing that sweet victory. Raizel joined in on the fray of spell casting. As much as the other team wanted to mess with them by throwing spells at them, she'd love to do the same. The Gryffindor drew her wand, just in time to see Duvessa drawing hers. She was expecting another attack from their opponents. They aren't the type of people who would just let you get away without retaliating back. The both of them fired their own spells, a knockback jinx for Duvessa and a Dancing-feet spell from her.
Raizel held onto her broom as she swerved to avoid the incoming spell from the Slytherin Student, gritting her teeth when her own spell missed its mark. She will admit, casting a spell while flying is a hard feat. How the professional broom racers does it is beyond her knowledge and with that, they have Raizel's respect. No use contemplating about the spell missing its target for she needs to keep going. She leaned forward on her broom, picking up her speed but as soon as she felt changes in the atmosphere, she started slowing down.
A frigid blizzard was beginning to form around her and the other racers, Aurora and Beatrice. Snow was beginning to fall hard, almost making it impossible to traverse through the sky, feeling the freezing temperature creeping up her skin. Raizel slowed down, covering her eyes with her arm, shivering due to the cold air all around them as she tried to fly through this sudden hard snowfall. She wasn't dressed up for this weather and she doesn't think the others were too. Raizel could feel her hold on her broom faltering, her hands numbing due to the freezing weather. What kept her going is that burning determination to see this race through until the end of the course.
She can't let herself get knocked out of the race just yet. Soon, she found herself through the snowfall and looks like the other two had made it through as well. While it was disappointing that not much distance was built between them and their opponent, she does feel relieved that all of them managed to get through that. Was she foolish to think about the well-being of others? While this is a competition, there is nothing wrong in showing concern for the other team as long as they are still giving it their all. Looking back now, it seems like they are far from a couple of few racers. One is her own teammate, Odi. Last time she checked on him, he got tangled up with the vines. The boy from the other team, Ashley, was also farther away from them.
