Professor Appreciation
Tristan Theramin
Although Tristan was not of the typical character to express gratitude to his fellow wizards, he understood that professors had a valuable role in Wizarding society and thus deserved at least a passing note of thanks. He supposed he could conjure some genuine artifact of emotion in order to award his professors with appreciation that they must receive. He did not quite understand why there was such pomp and circumstance scheduled for such appreciation but he supposed a strict opportunity would motivate those different than him to write and place quill to scroll that they otherwise would not. He sat in one of the chairs and began to write his letters.
With the first letter done, Tristan continued on to his second letter, removing another piece of parchment from his parcel, and re-dipping his quill in ink once more.Dear Professor Fresnel,
Although you may not recall my face or my name, I send my appreciation for your role in Hogwarts. Learning has always been one of my deepest pursuits and I have learned from you many things. Perhaps it would be appropriate to say that I am charmed by your demonstration of Charms. Certainly in the four years I have attended this establishment I have gained much through your teaching and am anticipative of the lessons to come. Although, as you may have noticed, I do not demonstrate emotions quite easily, I can at least confirm that there is gratitude in my heart for your teaching. I do not easily give thanks nor effuse my speech with such explicit feeling but I thank you for the opportunity to learn and grow in your class. Although I have not spoken with you beyond class, I at least give my gratitude for your excellent lesson material.
Regards,
Tristan folded the first two letters and placed them inside envelopes, signing them with a flourish, and writing the name of the professors. With the first two letters finished, Tristan paused for a moment in deep thought, his mind going to the times his tutor had taught him the art of letter writing when he was younger. He shook himself out of his thoughts, not wanting to cry again. He blinked a few times then took out another piece of parchment and placed it on the table in front of him. The last letter would be for Professor Galim, the muggle studies professor.Dear Professor Regan,
Although I have never spoken with you outside of the designed class periods, I send you this letter of appreciation for potions has always been my favourite subject throughout the years. Before I began my first year, I was tutored in Muggle Chemistry and I always found the similarities quite enchanting. I thank you for teaching the class despite the students' proclivity to explosions and failure, for I believe potions are quite practical and beautiful at the same time. Perhaps others do not appreciate its true beauty and instead pursue wand movements and spells, but I am deeply fascinated with the subject you teach. Thank you for the incredible dedication it takes to teach potions and explain its concepts and thank you for your passion for the subject.
Regards,
He concluded the letter and placed it in the envelope, once again writing the address to the professor the letter was intended for. Taking a hold of all three letters, Tristan proceeded to the table and placed each in the correct location. He could not bear delivering it himself as he was not one to proclaim his emotions like a emotional Hufflepuff. He then obtained all his belongings and exited the hall.Dear Professor Galim,
Although you may not know me well yet, I send my gratitude for your teachings on muggle studies. Unlike many of Slytherin’s families, Lord and Lady Theramin, my parents were clearly aware of the beauty and strength of the Muggle world. Indeed, I had a private tutor who was a muggle and I grew up learning directly of the exciting technology and academics in such a world. I am excited to attend your class and be reminded of the past once again. After all, my best friend in my youth was muggle himself.
Regards,
Tristan Theramin

Professor Appreciation
It had been a while since Dee had last taken part in one of the errands that were sometimes offered by the professors or prefects at Hogwarts. Well, there had been the activity in January that had officially been hosted by Professor Regan, but considering that Dee had organised large parts of it, it didn't feel like it counted. Before that? Who even knew.
It had been even longer since the last time Dee had taken part in a crafting activity. That sort of thing had never been her forte, but she'd tried them out anyway, for the fun of it. Making simple friendship bracelets when she couldn't figure out what to do at the embroidery errand. Folding a lopsided paper dragon at the origami errand. Why had she stopped doing those things? Gotten too busy, she supposed.
She hadn't consciously planned to take part in this one, either. Sucking up to teachers wasn't really her cup of tea, and she couldn't help feeling that this was what most of these kids were doing. What reason did they really have to thank the professors or assistants? Weren't their letters just variations of Thank you so much for all you've taught me, your class has always been my favourite - probably written to several different professors at once - in hopes of being recognised positively? (Yes, Dee was an ungrateful little brat.)
Yet, the same wasn't true for Dealla. She did have someone to thank, a debt of sorts even that wouldn't be repaid with a simple letter, especially one coming several months late. But still... It was better than the continuing clenching of... was it guilt? Something related. Shame, maybe, embarrassment for having gotten herself into a situation where she needed help in the first place. She only vaguely remembered stumbling down the stairs, half in tears, looking for one person in particular. She didn't enjoy the memory.
But not thinking about it didn't mean it hadn't happened (as much as she'd like to pretend). Her gut knew it, and Dee knew it, too. So if writing a letter was what she had to do to ease the sick feeling in her stomach, that's what she'd do.
She stopped at the table, skipping over the glitter and crafting supplies, instead opting for a simple piece of parchment and dark blue ink. Even if she had any sort of ambition in that direction, drawing something or dousing it in glitter would've felt out of place.
Dee hesitated for a moment before lowering her quill to the parchment.
Dee put aside her quill, grimacing. This... wasn't a good letter. It was too genuine for her taste, and at the same time, seemed entirely insufficient. It was awfully vague, but she was rather confident that Professor Wickham-Deakin would know exactly what she was talking about. She also didn't want to go into more detail, because she wasn't sure how much Wickham-Deakin actually believed of what Dee had told the former Potions professor in her delirium; and that wasn't the point of the letter, anyway.Dear Professor W.D.,
I know this is coming very late, and I should have done this a long time ago, and maybe in person, but honestly, I'm not a very brave person. I hope you're one of those people that say "better late than never" and "it's the thought that counts" because honestly, I don't have much more than that to offer.
I wanted to thank you for helping me when I needed you. And apologise, maybe, I'm sure it wasn't a fun time for you, either. Ignoring the fact that I should have known better than to get myself into that situation in the first place, I'm not proud of how I handled that. I should've gone straight to the nurse.
If you get the impression I'm not very good at apologies, that's probably because it's true. I don't give them very often. This is a rare occasion. But it's important for me to say, and I hope it means anything for you to hear. I appreciate what you did for me. So thank you.
Dee Prince
For a moment, she was tempted to cross out all the heartfelt parts of it. Make it less vulnerable. Instead, she folded it up so she didn't have to look at it anymore, once, twice, three times. Wrote Wickham-Deakin onto the bottom corner, more neatly than her usual writing, then headed off to hand it to Bea to be delivered.
Just before she'd reached the prefect, she stopped, biting her lip, then grabbed another quill of the next table, and scribbled a hasty postscript beneath her signature.I miss you in the Potions classroom.
For all the professor's strictness and no-nonsense attitude, it was true.

─────────────────────────────────────── HOGWARTS ────────────
| ─── | It was Monday, May 8th 2023.
Kim had graduated from being unable to get up early enough to eat breakfast, to just being able to make it. After all, he still couldn't get up early enough to have breakfast without needing to rush to eat. But at least now he was able to actually have breakfast, before rushing off to attend classes. That was a huge step up from where he'd been the year before. Just as he'd been about to leave the great hall at 8:30AM, to do some reading before his first class of the day (History of Magic) started, two girls started to bustle around the large room. One he was familiar with, Monica, and one he was somewhat familiar with, Beatrice. What were they - Wait, were they preparing for a new errand inside the Great Hall? He'd seen this kind of behavior done before and usually it was before an errand was announced to the students. Right on cue, Kim's suspicions were confirmed soon afterward and he pondered whether to remain or to leave. He did have classes soon. But then again, he was never on time. He was either early or late, to avoid being caught up in crowds of people. Not able to help his curiosity, Kim decided on the latter this time. Being late didn't matter to the boy. It wasn't as if it affected his grades. Only if you were absent did your grades get affected and he'd never been absent to any classes before. Well, except for the very first day of Flying Class. Kim was currently dressed in a pair of blue jeans, a sleeveless white cotton shirt, and was sporting a good deal of accessories around his neck and wrists. A pair of fashionable sandals graced his feet and allowed him a source of comfort. Of course, before classes started, he intended on changing back into school robes as it was against the rules to come in comfortable clothes. But he still had some time. Even if he did the errand, he'd probably have time to quickly go up to the dorms. Where he could change and then get to class. As soon as the errand got started, Kim let his blue eyes flicker over the items laid out on the tables. Monica and Beatrice had done a great job setting things up and normally he'd look over everything and think about what he wanted to do. But Kim didn't have much time right now, and he settled on what he was going to do right off the bat. Doing a few sketches and writing a few short letters would do the trick nicely. Who would he do them for? He liked all the staff but didn't have time. Not for all of them. The craft gifts would come first, as they would take the longest to do. Best get them out of the way. He'd write the letters afterward. The first one he'd focus on was for Headmaster Solomon Lear. The second would be for Professor Nancy McLoughlin, the new Herbology teacher. And the third would be for Professor Sabine Blumenthal, the new Care of Magical Creatures teacher. Those were the three who stood out to him above the rest, at least for right now. After some consideration, Kim also added one more professor. Professor Zoë Fresnel, the Charms teacher, had always held the teen's attention all the time.... Partially due to her tendency to bring sweets into her classroom. Kim quickly twisted some flowers into a flower crown for each of them. Then, he took some paper and sketched out some ivy near the top of the paper and then drew their names in a stylish font through the ivy above. Beneath the ivy, Kim sketched out a full portrait of them from what he could remember from his memory of having seen them. It wasn't completely detailed, as he didn't have that much time, but it was a lovely representation of them for certain... Later, he might do them again. In more detail, if they so wished for him to do so. But for now, this would have to do for their gifts. Selecting some thin boxes from the table, Kim placed the sketches and the flower crowns he'd made in each one. Then, the pink haired teen placed each box in front of the person's name. Scribbling some quick notes down, he placed them inside each of the boxes too and then headed out of the room. There was just enough time to check up on Aiko, change into his school robes, and head down to attend his first class of the morning with Puffie. Speaking of which... why was Puffie being so quiet? He hadn't squeaked for some time. Ah, he was asleep on Kim's shoulder. That was why. There was nothing wrong with him, of course not, right? Reducio ![]() For our beloved Headmaster... please accept our appreciation towards you for always looking out for the students at this school. You do your best to ensure we grow academically while in a good environment. I don't think you realize how much you influence others. Know that what you do doesn't go unnoticed by everyone. Keep up the good work! Reducio ![]() For Professor McLoughlin... you've only just started to teach this year. But I believe you are doing a great job so far. Of course, I'm kind of biased to this class because it's my favorite one. But still. I wouldn't lie if you were doing a horrible job, I'd let you know regardless. We haven't been able to talk much since the semester started but I intend on changing that in the near future. After all, we both love plants and herbs, there is much we could discuss together! I look forward to seeing more of you in the future. Please keep up the great work! Reducio ![]() For Professor Blumenthal... you've only just started to teach this year. But I've heard that students love your classes. As for me, I've always loved animals and creatures of all kinds. Pretty much my entire life. So naturally, I've looked forward to Care of Magical Creatures since coming to Hogwarts. Unfortunately, your classes aren't available until a student reaches their third year, so I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you in a classroom setting as of yet. Next year, I look forward to taking your class and seeing how you teach with my own eyes. I may come during your office hours to talk to you about creatures sometime. That is, if you think you'd be interested. Please keep up the good work! Reducio ![]() For Professor Fresnel...what can I say... your class has always been one I've enjoyed. Not just for the spells we learn but for the sweets you bring into it too! You must have heard that one of my nicknames is the Prince of Sweets. If I was a teacher, we'd get along fabulously you know! People might even start rumors about us! Heh, I'm just kidding. Anyway, your classes always make me smile when you teach them. I'm never bored and you explain things quite easily. Being a teacher was definitely your calling and I think all of your students must have benefitted from learning from you. I must say, I marvel at your teaching style and hope all your desires will come true in the future! Please keep up the good work! Kim reached up to scratch Puffie a little, feeling at ease as his beloved pet stirred and squeaked at him. He couldn't help but wonder if he'd ended up writing a bit too much to Professor Fresnel but then when he started talking about sweets and spells... it was hard to get him to stop. He could have written a lot more to the other teachers too but had refrained from doing so. After all, he didn't want to write a novel to them. They'd get bored, wouldn't they? What he'd written should have been enough. The length had been decent... Well, all but Professor Fresnel's had been that is... hopefully she didn't mind reading a lot from him! |

Professor Appreciation
@Zoë FresnelThere were only a few things that could pry Ethen from his exploration and snacks for any prolonged amount of time. There was of course Atlas and he was willing to spend time practicing Quidditch. From time to time, he would even fully attend his classes without just daydreaming. He had always had trouble focusing on things that really didn’t capture his imagination and focus so he knew that he could come across as rather aloof as he waddled about the school.
But he now found himself sitting at a small table scribbling on a piece of paper with the utmost focus. He was just placing the final, crucial touches onto the letter he had been writing. He was a fan of writing letters. At times he would just scribble a curious and absurd letter to no one in particular and would just leave it around the castle. He had no idea if anyone actually found those letters that he had strewn about. But for once he was actually writing a letter with purpose.
Ethen actually enjoyed all of his professors in different ways but Professor Fresnel in particular had always encouraged his rather eccentric tendencies and way of thinking. So scribbling a bit of his appreciation seemed like a nice small gesture that he would be able to provide to the charms professor. As Ethen finished scribbling a small plump frog in the corner of the page, he wondered if the frog should in fact be wearing a hat.
After a moment of contemplation, Ethen decided to adorn the small frog with a very dapper top hat before touching up the poor attempt to draw a pile of cabbages at the creature’s feet. Smiling to himself and nodding, Ethen thought the letter looked just about ready.
After finishing a quick read, Ethen folded up the letter and slid it carefully in his pocket. There was a cake that he needed to hide the letter in before it was delivered. Rising from his seat, Ethen quickly scurried off to continue his curious plan to deliver his letter of appreciation to Professor Fresnel.Dear Secret Agent ‘Fresnel’,
Hi ‘Professor’, I know that you are only here as a secret agent from the French Resistance… Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone to compromise the mission. But I just wanted to give you this as a small appreciation for everything you do.
Even if you are on a top-secret mission, you find the time to really make Charms class so fun for all of us with all of your crazy assignments and patience. You look out for a lot of us and always want us to succeed. I am not good at the whole ‘paying attention’ thing but you keep everything so engaging that I wouldn’t want to miss what comes next.
I promise that I haven’t been using what you teach us for too much mischief. Only an acceptable amount of mischief like you said. And don’t worry, I won’t snitch if anyone asks where I learned all this magic and tricks. Although, you are undercover as a Charms Professor so they would probably suspect you anyways. But what would I know as just a humble Major with limited special ops training?
Hopefully, your special undercover mission here in Hogwarts doesn’t end until after I graduate. I really plan on learning as much as I can from you and I promise that I will try my best to pay attention at all times. Initially I thought about making this a howler but I didn’t want it to spook you and well, I only kind of know how howlers work anyways. This letter is hidden in a cake… If you are reading this, you probably know that already and hopefully you didn’t actually bite a chunk out of the paper. It would be pretty funny but then who knows what part of the letter might be missing. It could just stop in the middle of a sentence and then a big ole munch mark…
All this to say. You make those hard and crazy days much more manageable here. I am not sure I was meant to be stuck inside a castle learning from books and old people lecturing… But you really make the day’s fun and give us a class we can look forward to. I want to thank you for showing me that you really don’t need to be like everyone else and that it is okay to let your imagination guide you. And please keep showing up to class in costumes, those are always a sign that the lesson is going to be awesome!

Professor Appreciation
Mellani had heard that two prefects had come together to appreciate the professor and since then, she had been looking forward to it. All the professors had taught her, a person who didn't even believe in magic until recently, how to perform magic and brew potions and everything else she needed to learn to survive in this world. Mellani was very grateful for it all and wished that she could pay the professors back somehow. She knew simply writing letters to them and giving them gifts wouldn't do half as much they had done for each and every student in Hogwarts but it was a start and at least then, the professors would know how grateful each and every student of the school was.
Mellani entered the Great Hall, a few boxes in her hand. The first one was for their Charms professor, Professor Zoë Fresnel. It was a box with an assortment of sweets in it.
Mellani had neatly gift-wrapped the gift with blue wrapping paper in such a way that there was also a pocket for a letter, a tape and a flower. Mellani had decided to write a song for all the teachers too. She wasn't going to add any words to it but she was going to try her best to make the music sound grateful. Mellani decided to work on the song first, before writing letters and getting the gifts ready for the other professors. She went over to the table with the musical instruments and settled for playing the piano. Mellani started playing the piece, wanting it to sound perfect before she made the recording. It was a soft, slow song. Mellani had written it the previous day and had decided to practice it once before the final recording was made. The volume gradually increased as Mellani came to the main part of the song then decreased again as she came to the end. It sounded pleasant and although it wasn't too long, it sounded complete.
Mellani smiled, satisfied with the song as she took out her tape recorder and pressed the record button, playing the song again, not caring about what the other people in the hall might think about it. This was her song and as long as the professors liked it, she didn't care about what others thought. As the song came to an end, she stopped recording, taking out another tape and recording all over again for the next professor. She kept doing this till she had as many recording as she needed. She cracked her knuckles and got up, heading to the table with parchment and quills.
Mellani's next gift was for the Professor of Potions, Professor Méabh Regan. She wasn't very sure what to gift her because admittedly, the only thing that she really knew about the professor was that she had a really good sense of humor. Which was what had given Mellani an idea. She had decided to gift the professor an assortment of objects from Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, consisting of a wizard cracker, a Skiving Snackbox and Cheeky Curlers. She thought of going to Hogsmede knowing that there were even better jokes and hoaxes there but had decided against it due to the fact that she might get caught and that then, at least one professor would know that she'd been to Hogwarts despite being a first year student. Mellani had wrapped this present in green wrapping paper.
As for the transfiguration professor, Professor Gregor Aarden, Mellani truly did not know anything about him. In the end, she settled for giving him a box of sweets too. After all, who didn't like sweets? Mellani did the same for Professor Orion Lécuyer and Professor Caradoc Browne. She wrapped all these gifts in a gold wrapping paper. Mellani didn't really know what she would write to the new professor for Astronomy. She decided not to write anything this time as she didn't know him at all and it would be weird if she sent a letter to a professor she didn't even know. At least to her.
Mellani then went on to wrapping her gift for the Herbology professor, Professor Nancy McLoughlin. For her, Mellani had actually bought many sweets of different colours and had arranged them in such a way that they looked like a flower pot with a blooming orange flower in it. Kind of like a mosaic. She wrapped this in leaf green wrapping paper and then went on to the next gift.
This one was for the new professor of Flying, Professor Felix Lin. Another professor she didn't know well, but he had spent fairly some amount of time and Mellani had been to one of his classes, so, he wasn't as unknown to her as the new professor of Astronomy. Mellani decided to go with a similar pattern as the one she did for the herbology professor, arranging dark chocolate in the shape of a broom.
And now for the headmaster. Mellani wanted to make this one special somehow but she didn't know how exactly. She seen him wear armor everywhere he went and after some time, an idea had popped into her head. It was mostly based off her knowledge of the muggle world. Armor needed polishing and some parts were even stored in leather, if she remembered right. Mellani settled for silver polish and a leather cleaning set, wrapping it all in silver gifting paper. She smiled. It probably wasn't the best idea but at least it was something.
Last on her list was their Head of House, Hjørdis Jensen. This one was admittedly much harder than the rest. She decided to go with something green and silver. After thinking for a bit, she decided to just go with the mosaic of sweets, this time forming the Slytherin crest.
Now, time for the letters.
Mellani started writing, her first letter being to Professor Fresnel.Next on her list was Professon Regan. Something with a bit of humor here.Dear Professor Fresnel,
You were the teacher who taught me my first ever spells. I love how you make sure to make each and every lesson knowledgeable but at the same time, very interesting and fun too. I love how you hand out something sweet almost each and every time and make everything a tempting challenge for us. This always helped me gain more confidence in my spells. I hope you like my gift and the song. The gift's a surprise, but I'm sure you'll be getting many similar ones, take a wild guess, maybe. The song, well, it's just something I wrote for all the professors. Hope you like both of these things!
Yours,
Mellani Miller
Mellani smiled as she tucked the letter into the pocket in the gift, wondering how Professor Regan would react to it. Now for Professor Aarden. This one wouldn't be as detailed as the other two but Mellani had hopes to keep it short and sweet.Dear Professor Regan,
At first, I thought potions were just like water except they had a poisonous effect. That's right, I mixed up potions with poisons but then again, I grew up in the muggle world and for me magic was fairy tales and potions were technically just poisons. Anyways, thank you for teaching all of us the difference between the two. On another note, please do stop hurting yourself to demonstrate the effects of pastes like the Burn Healing Paste. You don't need to hurt yourself to make us understand how things work. The gift is something I hope you'd like although, be warned, it isn't one to use without knowing the consequences... The rest is a mystery. I've also added a tape with a song I wrote for all the professors and I'm hoping you'll like it. Don't worry, the tape's completely safe to use by yourself.
Yours,
Mellani Miller
Another one down, many more to go. Mellani wondered briefly if she really should have decided to write to almost every professor but quickly swatted away the thought. Every single one of them deserved it. Next was Professor Lécuyer, Defense Against the Dark Arts this time. This one too, Mellani was going to keep short and sweet.Dear Professor Aarden,
Studying in a muggle school throughout my life made understanding your subject a lot easier for me. Although that's only the theory part. I still struggle with imagination every now and then but your lessons have been really helpful with that and I'm sure, with a little more practice, I'll get it. Here's a gift as a token of thanks. I hope you like it, and, even if you don't feel free to transfigure it into whatever you would like! There's also a tape with a small song I wrote for all the professors to go along with it!
Yours,
Mellani Miller
Next on her list was History of Magic. Professor Browne. He had a good sense of humor and Mellani decided to write her next letter appreciating that.Dear Professor Lécuyer,
Thank you for teaching us how to keep ourselves safe from the Dark Arts and helping each and every one of us along the journey. This letter is attached with a gift as a token of thanks. I hope you'll like it, it isn't anything dark, I promise. There's also a song that I've written for all the professors to go along with it.
Yours,
Mellani Miller
Four more to go. Mellani hands were starting to hurt. She decided to take a break from writing and add flowers to the gifts instead. She went to the table with flowers and started adding a flower to each gift to go with the colour of the gift wrap. After she was done with this, her hands felt a lot better and she decided to go back to writing letters.Dear Professor Browne,
Thank you for making History of Magic an interesting subject for all of us. I love how you combine humor and knowledge to make sure we remember what we have learnt and how you keep calling all the students 'kid'. Kind of reminds me of my friends back at home. I have attached this letter with a gift that I hope you'll like, along with a small song I wrote for all the professors.
Yours,
Mellani Miller
Mellani's next letter was for Professor McLoughlin. Another short and sweet one.
Next was Professor Lin. Mellani truly did not know what to write here. After some thinking, she decided to write something along the lines of 'I've enjoyed your classes a lot'. Probably simple but at least it was something.Dear Professor McLoughlin,
I never knew plants that could bounce or hurt our ears existed before my first class with you. Safe to say, it surprised me quite a lot. Thank you for teaching me about all these plants and teaching all of us how to stay safe from them. I got my first ever pet plant from you (which I've been taking great care of) and I'd like to repay the favor somehow so, here's a small gift that I hope you'll like with a song I wrote to go along with it.
Yours,
Mellani Miller
Now for Headmaster Lear. This one would be a bit more detailed, hopefully. Mellani didn't have half as much energy she had had when she first entered the hall but she still had the determination. Just two more letters to go!Dear Professor Lin,
I know you're new to the school but I really enjoy your classes. Flying has always been something I liked, even in the muggle world (airplanes of course). As a token of gratitude, I've attached this letter to a gift that I hope you'll like. (Sorry I couldn't get you a real broom but I think this is a tastier version, don't you?) I've also made a song for all the professors to go along with it.
Yours,
Mellani Miller
It wasn't as good as Mellani had hoped it would be but it wasn't too bad either. Now for the last letter. Mellani decided to keep her letter to Professor Jensen short, expressing gratitude for everything that the professor had done for Slytherin.Dear Headmaster Lear,
Thank you for keeping everyone in one piece in this school and making sure everyone follows the rules and learns how to perform magic and stay safe. Thank you for everything you do to make sure everything goes well and at the same time, make sure that students have fun too. As a token of gratitude, I've attached this letter with a gift that I hope you'll like. It is a bit muggle-like but I think every wizard should have a bit of "muggle" in their lives instead of depending on magic for everything. I've also added a song I wrote for all the professors as a means of saying 'Thank you'.
Yours,
Mellani Miller
Mellani was finally done with all the letters. She put them in with their respective gifts. Should she deliver them herself or should she ask the prefects to deliver it? Mellani decided to go with the latter option due to being the shy girl that she was. What if the professors were busy or didn't like the gifts she gave them? Mellani didn't want the situation to get awkward and hence, handed the gifts to Monica Evans, apologizing for their heaviness.Dear Professor Jensen,
Thank you for being the best Head of House anyone could hope for and for helping keep the reputation of the Slytherin House high. Here's a tasty gift that I made for you as a token of thanks. I've also added a song that I wrote for all the professors to thank all of you for what you've done for us.

all of these notes are completely sincere, both IC and OOC
When bailey heard about the Professor appreciation errand, she of course had to go. It was on May 8th, and she set away the whole
Before she went though- she made a list of All the professors she wanted to include. After some thought her list ended up being rather long, because Bailey did not want to leave anyone out.In her list bailey had included everyone she could think of, including the severs new faces that she maybe hadn’t met yet. As it was May, Bailey changed into a more summery outfit- white linen pants and a navy blue shirt. She also added white shoes that were a bit dressy but she thought fit with her outfit, as well as a pendant, and a ring. Bailey’s legs were showing, and with her increasing the time she was spending outside, they had actually become quite tan. She tanned quite easily, and rarely burned, which was very nice as she loved to spend time in the outdoors.

Bailey grabbed her favorite white lace cardigan as an extra layer, just in case, as she headed out the door.

Over her shoulder bailey had her usual bag- filled with her paper of who she was going to write to, her wand, a bunch of muggle pens, pencils, as well as a couple quills and an ink jar. She also had a bag of meringue that she had made, as well as a small container of lemon curd. Just a snack, a peace offering if needed.
Bailey walked down the corridors alone. She figured this was one errand Kim would attend, and plus it was probably better to do so separate.
Bailey arrived and she was right- Kim was there. He looked… like kim. Puffie perched on his shoulder, seemingly asleep, he was concentrated on his cards. Bailey smiled, watching him for a moment. he's so cute... his concentration is adorable... Bailey tried to stop her thoughts there, and finally got herself to move, to make the cards of her own.
Bailey sat down, and got started. She had quite a few to write, and she had to get started now. if i have time... i think i'll add decoration later - if i had time she thought, setting into her chair.
Bailey pulled out her list, and decided to go top to bottom.
ReducioDear Headmaster,
thank you so much for everything you do. I have not gotten to meet you personally, but I am sure it would be a great honor to do so. You are a real awe inspiring person, always leading us the best you can.
Thank you again for what you do!!!
sincerely,
bailey glade
First was headmaster, one person bailey did not really know well. BUT- she thought that he deserved appreciation, and thus she wrote him a letter.
Next on her list was the heads of Slytherin, and of her own house of Ravenclaw.
She did not really know the head of Slytherin well, but she knew the Head of Slytherin had their hands full. The head of Ravenclaw bailey knew decently well, as he was her Head of House.
ReducioDear Professor Jensen,
I just wanted to write you a letter, and thank you for watching over all of my friends. I have friends in all of the houses, but my friends in Slytherin.... are particularly mischievous, and overall naughty. You defiantly have your hands full, but I think you are doing an amazing job. Thank you for everything you do!!
thank you again,
sincerely,

The next couple of letters were for people Bailey was not super close too. She still appreciated the,. and thus bailey wrote the following letters to Professor Galim, Professor Wickham-Deakin, Professor Lécuyer, Caretaker Greer, Professor Regan, and Groundskeeper Céspedes
They were all along the lines of a simple thank you letter, but bailey tried to make them each special.

At this point bailey had nine letters left - her hand was getting quite tired, but she was GOING to finish these letters, even if it made her hand fall off. that'll never happen... and even if it did, the Nurse would patch me back together
Professor Fresnel, Professor Bardot, Librarian Sáez, Professor Rolfö, Professor Baird, Professor Aarden, Professor Browne, Professor Lin, Nurse Featherstone were the last nine letters bailey had to write. Several people on this list bailey had little to none exposure to, but she was sure she'd run into them eventually.

In the end, bailey did not personalize the letters more than the words inside, but she hoped the words made them stand out from the other letters the Professors - and other staff in the Castle - would receive.

Professor Appreciation
Professor Appreciation. It was something Rita had alwayed wanted to do. The Second Year Hufflepuff first-string beater knew by heart that those hard-working professors had really devoted themselves to the students, and although the second year Hufflepuff beater was not a fan of all the classes around Hogwarts, she already had a few favorite professors around the school, so when Rita heard that two perfects had decided to hold a little activity in the great hall for students to make some presents and write some letter to express their thanks to the school professors on this particular afternoon after class, May 8th, she did not hesitate much to take part in the activity. So, when the Second Year Hufflepuff first-string beater had finished all of the classes that day, she quickly walked to great hall to participate in that activity.
Well, it seemed that that professor appreciation activity was a quite popular activity, as many students were already sitting around the 4 big desks and were all busy writing letters and making little gifts around the great hall when Rita finally arrived there. Looking around the great hall, the Second Year Hufflepuff first-string beater with short straight black hair and yellow glasses decide to grabbed some paper and some colored pens from one desk, and some flowers from a another desk, before finding an empty chair around one of the deskes to sit down and began to write the letters.T The black-haired Second Year Hufflepuff first-string beater already had an idea who she was going to write to, namely the professors from her two favorite classes, Herbology Professor McLoughlin and Flying Professor Lin, as well as Papa Badger, their former Head of House, now History of Magic Professor Browne, a professor she actually had not took a class from but had a very good impression of, Care of Magical Creatures Professor Blumenthal. Rita would also write letter to the Headmaster Mr. Lear and their Head of House Ms. Wickham-Deakin. And here were the letters that the Second Year Hufflepuff first-string beater wrote:
Dear Professor McLoughlin,
Thank you for introducing me to all those magical plants and allowing me to take a trip that day to the first green house when I come to your office that way. Thank you also for allowing me to have a plant friend called Little Zebra thanks to your errand a few days prior to this activity. You are really as magical as those amazing plants, and words really cannot express my feelings of gratitude to you. Take care and I promise I will always keep my love for those awesome magical plants and continue to do well in your class!
Full of Gratitude,
Rita SuDear Professor Lin,
Thank you for checking on my broom and offering some flying tips when I paid a visit to your office that day. You are as amazing as flying freely in the wind and bringing back a Quidditch win to our house. I will continue my love for flying and Quidditch and continue to do well in your class. Thank you so much for your amazing flying lessons, and although I cannot put all of my feelings into words, I am really really lucky to have you in my flying class.
Full of Gratitude,
Rita SuDear Papa Badger Professor Browne,
I will always be thankful for your time as the head of our Hufflepuff house as well as your role as the History of Magic professor. To be honest, I used to think History of Magic is not that interesting and please don`t blame me for that, but with your fun personality and loving attitude, you really bring this often seen as "boring" class something new and changed my mind about that class. I even find myself to be enjoying that subject to be honest thanks for your awesome lessons! You are just amazing!
Full of Gratitude,
Rita SuDear Professor Blumenthal,
Although it is not until this September that I can finally take your lesson, you hafd already left me with a very good impression. Thank you so much for providing the opportunity for us to interact with the unicorns and write a prank journal on that particular April Fool`s Day. I really enjoyed those errands and looking forward to seeing you in class this September! I always enjoy learning about magical creatures, so I believe I will have fun in your class!
Full of Gratitude,
Rita SuDear Headmaster Mr. Lear,
I don`t know how much gratitude I have for you. You are always there for us students, and without your effort and devotion, Hogwarts will not be such an amazing magical school like this. You are simply an way too awesome Headmaster and I feel so lucky for having you in our school. Thank you again for all the service you have done for all of us.
Full of Gratitude,
Rita SuWhen Rita finished all of the letters, she decorated them with flowers and handed them to the prefects to give out to the respective professors. "Thank you so much for this errand, It is so necessary for us to take our time and express our gradititude to the amazing professor. Here are the letters to be delivered." The black-haired Second Year Hufflepyff beater smiled to the two prefects as she handed the letters to them. Rita then took her step to leave the great hall, feeling proud about herself writing all those letters, totally six of them, to those devoted professors to express her gratitudes to them.Dear Head of House Hufflepuff Ms. Wickham-Deakin,
I was very sad when Mr. Browne left his job but I found out very soon that our house Head of House is also really amazing. I still remember that time when you changed our common room into a winter palace and give us butterbeer as a prize for successfully catching lemmings. I really enjoyed that opportunity and thank you so much for your service for all of the badgers in our house.
Full of Gratitude,
Rita Su

Professor Appreciation Day
Professor Appreciation Day
Mondays… Levi truly never got used to them. They were simply so boring and long. Besides he had the whole week left, four full days of classes. He wasn’t sure what happened. When he started Hogwarts, he was quite certain that he’d enjoy every magical aspect the school had to offer. His parents had been so excited for him, instilling his love for all the different subjects from a young age and reminiscing on the beautiful and stellar teachers there were. Though Levi did think some of their enthusiasm must’ve come with age - forgetting the harder aspects of school - he did think he would feel the same passion. But alas, the subjects themselves may have been quite enjoyable… The large pieces of homework he had to write were less so. Levi simply could not keep his mind at attention for longer than five minutes, which was probably why he wasn’t the favorite guest of the library.
However, this Monday was different. As he entered the Great Hall, he saw tables filled with crafting supplies. Glitter, confetti, regular markers and pens - it was a true color explosion on each table. “What’s all this for?” He asked while grabbing himself a handful of red confetti.
“It’s professor appreciation day!” A random Gryffindor said to him, while passing. Levi paused for a moment. Right, professors work extremely hard… And just because I’m a tad lazy doesn’t mean they shouldn’t receive my many thanks… Besides, that glitter seems to have my name on it.
So, he dove in and grabbed several pieces of parchment, some glitter and red and gold flowers. Some magical glue-stick was standing on the table as well and he’d quickly realized this would be vital to his plans. But which professors would he write his messages to? He couldn’t do everyone - that would simply be too much and leave him with too little time. He was quite sure that they wouldn’t appreciate him turning in his homework late in favor of a lovely little letter sprayed with glitter and flower petals… He made his selection.
His first letter was written to the Potions professor.
As he scribbled his name down, folded the paper and threw on an absolutely ridiculous amount of glitter - he decided to finish up his first letter with a beautiful golden sunflower. One down, two to go. His next victim target: the Care of Magical Creatures professor.May 8th, 2023
Professor Appreciation Day
Dear professor Regan,
Did you know that today is a day for you and your colleagues? I certainly didn’t when I went to the Great Hall today. But it is, so I couldn’t NOT write to you. Because professor, you are my last hope at making my family proud. You’re a Slytherin Potions professor - my parents ultimate dream combination. Well, not the professor part, but the Slytherin and Potions, that was supposed to be. Alas, I’m in Gryffindor and it would appear that no matter how many angry owls my father sends this will not actually change.
So that means there is only one chance left - to become the MASTER of Potions. The Outstanding student, the one who they’ll talk about for years to come. Naturally, I could never get there without your amazing help and guidance. You make brewing seem like the most natural thing, ingredients the easiest to find and theories on crafting? Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy. You’re also always happy, which makes me happy.
Thank you for all that you do, professor! May you never quit (unless you want to of course, in which case: all the best!)
This letter he closed off with a red flower and glitter inside the foldings, even though he was quite certain this would not entirely be appreciated. But, he was almost out of time and still had a final letter to write. To the Muggle Studies professor, simply because he knew if his parents ever found out they’d despise him for enjoying the class.
Professor Blumenthal!
You, professor, teach my FAVORITE course. Yes, you. I may not even be eligible to take your course, but as soon as I hit that third year, I'm going for it! And you best believe I'll be interested in everything from Flobberworms to dragons. So, get ready - Levi is coming at some point!
Keep working hard, professor!
With that, he’d reached the end of his parchment. Tying it all up together, he put the final two flowers on the letter. All done, and ready to roll. Do you think I get extra credit for this? He thought to himself as he went and handed in his things to the Prefects for delivery, before heading his way up to the first actual class of the day - hoping he wouldn’t be late.
Dear professor Galim,
Never in a million years would I have predicted to write this note of appreciation to you. In fact, my family was quite adamant that if I were to drop one class it should be Muggle Studies. They don’t quite believe in the importance of learning about a different world, and when I started it I didn’t really either. But I’m having a lot of fun. I never would’ve known muggles go through so much trouble to make their lives without magic bearable. Thank you for making me realize that! I’ll definitely continue taking your class.

PROFESSOR APPRECIATION DAY
May 8th, 2023
Mentions: @Octavius Baird, @Gregor Aarden, @Magdalena Wickham-Deakin, @Nancy McLoughlin, @Méabh Regan, @Solomon Lear
Italics: thoughts
I walked to the Great Hall to see a huge surprise awaiting me. What in the world? Tables lined the Great Hall filled with paper supplies, markers, flowers, confetti, glitter containers, various musical instruments and an abundant supply of things. Random things. Nothing you would normally find in the Great Hall. “What’s this for?” I asked.
I peered over at the tables filled with students scribbling on papers. Ohh, I get it now. This is for Teacher appreciation day!
Hufflepuffs were known for being kind and loyal. And so this seemed like the perfect thing to do. Hmm… Which teachers should I give a letter to? I snatched up a piece of paper and made a list.
- Professor of Astronomy: Octavius Baird
- Professor of Transfiguration: Gregor Aarden
- Head of Hufflepuff: Magdalena Wickham-Deakin
- Professor of Herbology: Nancy McLoughlin
- Professor of Potions: Méabh Regan
- Headmaster: Solomon Lear
For the gifts I headed over to the art station and made each teacher a box personalized with their name on it. After checking off the last one on my list I proceeded to make some origami animals, a different one for each teacher. Then I made them each a few origami stars and a heart for each teacher. I put them in the box.
By now it was already getting late time to start classes but I didn't care. This was more important. I knew that I would have to write the letters pretty quickly though. Bringing the gifts with me, I headed over to the letter station. It was bustling with people but I managed to snatch six pieces of paper to write my six letters. I also managed to snatch a few pens of different colors to write with.
Now I started my journey of writing letters.
One down five more to go. I sighed.DEAR PROFESSOR BAIRD,
Thank you so much for teaching me Astronomy! Teachers work so hard to teach their students so I thought that you deserved a thank you! I hope you enjoy the box filled with origami assortments of every kind! Once again thank you for teaching us Astronomy! I love Astronomy and you're an amazing teacher!
From, REYNA EVERGREEN
Two down, four more to go. This was for sure going to be a while.DEAR PROFESSOR AARDEN,
Thank you so much for teaching me Transfiguration! Teachers take so much time and care to teach their students so I thought that you deserved a thank you! I hope you like the box filled with origami assortments of every kind! Once again thank you for teaching us Transfiguration! I love it and you're an amazing teacher!
From, REYNA EVERGREEN
Three down, three more to go. There was no way I was going to be on time to class now.DEAR HEAD OF HUFFLEPUFF,
I don't know how you do it but you somehow manage to keep Hufflepuff running. You're always there to welcome new students and also to answer others' questions. I thank you for that and everything that you've done! I hope you like the assortment of origami in the box!
From, REYNA EVERGREEN
Four down, two more to go. My hands were getting really tired now.DEAR PROFESSOR MCLOUGHLIN
Thank you so much for teaching me Herbology! Teachers work super hard to make sure their students learn everything for the next year! I hope you like the origami box filled with origami assortments! Once again thank you for teaching us Herbology! I love it and you're an amazing teacher!
From, REYNA EVERGREEN
Five down, one more to go. I'm almost done!!!DEAR PROFESSOR REGAN,
Thank you so much for teaching me Potions! Teachers work so hard to make sure their students learn everything we need to learn! I hope you like the origami box filled with origami assortments! Once again thank you for teaching us Potions! I love it and you're a really great teacher!
From, REYNA EVERGREEN
Six down, ZERO more to go! YES! I did it! I couldn't believe it. Now it was time to head to class but first I handed the letters with the boxes to the prefects. They thanked me for writing them and I thanked them for helping to organize this.DEAR HEADMASTER LEAR,
Although I don't know you personally, I do know that you do a lot for the whole school to keep it running. I thank you for that. Without you, we would all be lost, like literally! Once again, thank you for everything you have done to keep this school the way it is! You're amazing! I hope you enjoy the box and the assortment of origami inside!
From, REYNA EVERGREEN
It was an amazing idea and I hoped that many people would join in. But for now, I needed to get to class…

Quotes: ✕The Hall was filled, buzzed even! Music drifted through the air as students wrote songs, or just jammed. Parchment was being filled up with words of affirmations, and appreciation for all the work the Professors do. It was a beautiful sight! Monica didn't expect this many students to show up, but it was a warming thing to see how many students wanted to also share in how much they appreciate those running Hogwarts.
But nothing last forever, and as time ticked on, soon enough the hall was quiet, just Monica and Bea, with stacks of letters. Monica smiled at her friend, it was a great day! So fun, and Monica couldn't wait to deliver the letters to the respected Professors! She began to walk around the room, collecting parchment, and other craft pieces that were set out. "Seems like everyone had fun today!" She said to the Ravenclaw, "Thanks for joining me in hosting this event Bea! I am glad I got to do this with you!" a smile strung across her face.
Within no time, the room was set back how it always was, ready to welcome students for the next meal. Monica headed off, arms linked with her friend, to deliver the letters, and have a good nap.
