I was still buzzing about what happened yesterday with that Gryffindork, Raizel, and the mudblood, Isabel. I turned to someone and asked for some food. Honestly, I really don’t know how that escalated. One minute i’m throwing notes at this bored looking girl and the next we are fighting each other in the hallways!

Right stuck up cow and that mudblood was no better! Nosey cow. Honestly.

That prefect, Beatrice Lang-something. Yes, she had given me a detention to but that was to be expected. I was fighting in the halls, self defense or not, and I was messing around in class whether or not the little duel was my doing. I feel like I can still charm my way, sort of, into getting into her good books. Having a prefect that likes me will be helpful, I have Monica but honestly she is like a sister to me.

I slowly chewed my food, zoning out as I thought of all the prefects I could remember, maybe even teachers too. It would be beneficial to be seen a certain way with them if I plan to continue as I am. Plus, maybe learn things from them. Perhaps one day I myself could be a Prefect?

I laughed a little at that idea.

Pft, never. Imagine me as a prefect. I would be the worst prefect ever! Well… Monica did push me in the lake. I took a drink of pumpkin juice and started to converse with the snakes around me.

mudblood.

that insult had never been directed at amaris and never will be, for the simple fact that amaris knight was no muggleborn. amaris came from a prestigious pureblood family -- well, even if her grandmother was in azkaban. that was a secret. she had married the wrong person, got caught up in the wrong business, and boom. azkaban. 'we don't speak about her. we never speak about her. mariam knight was a disgrace to our whole family. i'm glad she's a woman and changed her maiden name once she got married. she can't carry around the knight name in the mud. she deserves to rot in azkaban.' and amaris didn't talk about it.

that didn't mean she wasn't sensitive about it, though. what was wrong with muggles learning magic if they show potential for magical manifestation? nothing. all of amaris' cuban friends were (at least to her knowledge) muggles. if they had their first instance of magic in the uk, why couldn't they be invited to hogwarts? their inheritance didn't matter. what mattered was their skill and potential. there lived a great number of pure blood extremists, who passed on their terrible beliefs to their children. therefore, it is unfortunate because sometimes, the children may not even believe it themselves. they just don't know any better.

pity them.

amaris had witnessed muggleborn students being bullied at hogwarts. every time, she had wanted to stand up for the poor students. they don't deserve this hate. yet every time she did not stand up for them. it was part of her that she hated, her cowardice. was she a real gryffindor? thoughts of self doubt crept back into her mind. they were the same thoughts that were there when she was first sorted into gryffindor. she didn't belong here. she wasn't a ravenclaw, she wasn't a gryffindor. she was no one. yet the thought of confronting those terrible bullies made amaris feel stronger. if there were no one else to stand up to bullies, she had to.

just yesterday, amaris had seen a slytherin student who looked around amaris' age call a gryffindor a mudblood. amaris didn't even know how the wizard identified the witch as a muggleborn is the first place. still, amaris was not only angry at the boy who insulted to poor muggleborn, who was apparently called isabel, she was also disgusted at herself for not standing up for the poor gryffindor. that's what she'd do. yes, right now, right here, in the middle of dinner, with anyone around.

amaris turned to glance at the slytherin table. her gaze slid down the aisle, searching for an arrogant and shameless boy with a pathetic dark mop of hair. amaris' heart stopped as she spotted the boy sitting with a group of what might be friends, asking them for some food. well, amaris could either embarrass lucian in front of his so called friends, or get beat up by them. it really depended on the boy's definition of friend. amaris calmed herself and promised that she wasn't going to use any spells, not even defensive ones. she didn't want to hurt anyone, nor did she want to get into trouble. the most she'll do was dodge.

amaris was a little startled when the boy started to laugh to himself. well, just wait until she startled him back. the boy was sitting close to amaris. in fact, all she needed to do was lean over they could talk. amaris took a deep breath leaned back against her chair, until she was close enough to the boy to whisper into his ear, 'hey, i like you, can you be my date for the ball?' yes, startle him. amaris hadn't acted in a long time, and hadn't acted at all outside the drama club that kim aoki founded. she acted sweet and lovesick. however, she knew she could never be genuinely sweet to this terrible boy.

amaris smiled deviously, waiting for the boy to turn, taunting him to turn. that devious smile... it was something that hadn't been seen on amaris for a long time. amaris felt that slowly, slowly, she was regaining her wild nature. not waiting for him to respond, amaris stage whispered, hoping the students around them could hear, 'what are you laughing at, you filthy pureblood extremist?'

Someone whispered near my ear and I jumped, my head turning and we clashed, what the hell? They were asking me to the ball. I frowned and rubbed my face a little after the clash. After all, I was going with Ash! Ah, sweet, cute Ash.

Anyway.

I plastered a smirk on my face at the idea that this person (no doubt a Gryffindork if it came from the table behind me, isn’t that ironic. Attacked one, insulted one, now i’m about to reject one. I don’t think I’m very popular with the Red’s) wanted to go to the ball with me. “Nice kiss,” I teased, “Well. I am sorry to say but—

What are you laughing at? You filthy pureblood extremist!” my eyes widened and I looked around, now swinging my whole body to face her. Who had heard that? I looked with panicked eyes before zeroing in on the bloody Gryff.

What the hell!” I hissed, glaring at her. “Who do you think you are!” I can’t believe her… “Stupid prick!” I told myself to stay calm. Don’t do anything stupid. I didn’t want to cause a fuss in front of the whole school.

I looked at her intensely, she looked a little familiar. Like I had seen her in passing but nothing popped up. She was just another Gryff that was getting on my nerves. She could ruin me; not a lot of people want to be knowingly associated with a blood puritan. Especially one in Slytherin!

You keep your big mouth shut, Gryffindork. What are you, a mudblood too?” I hissed, spitting the word out of my mouth like it was venom, like the very thought of someone like that made my toes curl and skin crawl. “Or just a blood traitor? Associating with muggles and the like? Like some common rat,” okay, I didn’t know where that last part came from, I was just thinking of a vile creature. “Now. How about you turn around and leave me the hell alone or piss off so you stop befouling this building!” I jeered with stone-like eyes.

I then went to turn back around again, my face going red as I looked nervously among my peers.

amaris grinned as the boy blushed and tried to smirk. he had believed her at first. it was no doubt ironic for the poor boy. he fought a gryffindor, insulted a gryffindor, and was just about to reject a gryffindor. well, amaris won't give him the satisfaction. he had turned his head too quickly and the two had clashed together; where did he get that sort of audacity, bumping into a *fairly innocent* girl? well, the irony of this situation was that of course he had the audacity to bump into amaris when he had the audacity to attack and insult others.

ah, the irony.

amaris' lip curled slightly as the boy cursed. he was making a scene. yeah, he was just asking for trouble. of course, what did amaris expect? was attacking a girl just because she spilled some ink on him not asking for trouble? was calling a muggleborn a mudblood not asking for trouble? was clashing with amaris not asking for trouble? just let him scream, let him yell, let him curse. amaris didn't do anything against the rules. all she needed to do was draw attention to the boy, so everyone could know what sort of filthy pureblood extremist he was.

and there was still someone willing to go the ball with him. whoever it was amaris pitied them. this was no long term relationship, but she couldn't imagine one second at the ball with this extremist. and who was she taking to the ball? no one. after the breakup with olli, amaris couldn't bare to find anyone else. amaris dreaded his return. he will surely have another date - someone prettier or more likable than amaris would ever be. just forget about olli, amaris told herself. deal with one boy at a time.

amaris returned the boy's intense stare. she waited for him to finish his rant, a coy smile on her face. he wanted more trouble? no problem, that was something amaris could gift him, and gladly too. it was clear that the boy tried to lower his voice into a low hiss, though. it was clear he didn't want this trouble. but amaris did. amaris would get this boy into a good heap of trouble.

amaris grabbed the boy as he tried to turn around. 'no, sorry,' she spat the words into his face, just like he had spat insults into hers. 'i'm afraid i don't want to leave. moreover, where did you get the right to boss me around? i could stay here all i want.' she wasn't like the boy when it came to arguing. she didn't need curses or insults. all amaris needed was her fair share of cleverness. it was a long time since she had put it to something other than good use.

gryffindork? mudblood? blood traitor? common rat?’ amaris scoffed. ‘that’s all you could come up with?’ amaris didn’t answer the boy’s question though. instead, she taunted him to just insult her more, draw attention to himself, and make the whole school know that he was a pure blood extremist.

amaris raised her eyebrows as the boy glanced around nervously, ‘what do your friends think, huh?

Isabel bloody loved the great hall. The wonders of the castle would never cease to surprise her. The way an entire banquet just appeared on the humongous tables would always catch her off guard. Delicious roasts, seasonal veggies and pumpkin juice within arms reach. Not to forget the perfectly crumbly and crispy roast potatoes, ones rivalled her nans. Of course, she would never admit that to the sweet woman. Surrounded by her friends and dormmates, Isabel's cheeks were rosy and her eyes bright. At the end of the day her curly hair was always more on the unruly side. Trying to smooth it down in between jokes and conversations she ate her meal.

Her friend had just been telling her about something that happened in class earlier that day when she heard a sneer, which at this point had become all too familiar. guess he's on a roll again she thought to herself, not even bothering to turn around to see what it was this time. However, she couldn't help but keep her ears open. Despite not wanting to get involved, she was extremely nosy.

The person responding to him seem to be a young girl, and a fiery one at that. She sounded enraged as she responded to him. The chatter of the great hall was too overwhelming to hear what exactly was being said, but the tone was loud and clear; the girl was done with his shit. And rightfully so she thought, trying not to make her smug thoughts apparent on her face. She wondered how Raizel was doing and if she was still recovering from her injuries. Seemed like Lucian had recovered enough to go back to being a prick.

Did anyone actually get along with him? Did he have friends? Maybe that's why he was always acting out, because he was lonely. He seemed to get along with Odi just fine, but then again, who didn't. Odilon was extremely charismatic and likeable, it seemed like an impossible task to get mad at him, let alone dislike him. Shaking Odi from her head, she tuned back into the conversation her friends were having, keeping a considerable chunk of her attention on the conflict happening behind her at the Slytherin table.

She pulled me back and I yanked myself out of grip, holding her arm — gently, might I add. “I got the right to boss you around as soon as I engaged in a conversation with you. I say it’s over and it’s bloody well over!” she then scoffed at the words I used. How dare she. “Go kiss up to mudbloods and the sort ‘n leave me well alone. Or do I need to elucidate myself more clearly, you fatuous girl,” I hissed lowly, letting go. “For your information, my friends are none of your concern. Now, stop being so sanctimonious. You’re definitely a Gryffindor, aren’t you?” I commented in a lighter tone, a fake smile on my face.

In all truthfulness, I didn’t know how my friends would react. I wasn’t entirely sure what they felt at the minute. Doesn’t mean I want to risk finding out!

My eye caught the familiar back of a head. Nosy mudblood was listening in to our conversation. I shook my head lightly as my eyes wandered to where her figure was sat.

Coward.

Now. Let me get back to my meal, with my friends, and I will let you converse with yours. If you have any. Or are you too obstreperous to keep them?” I questioned, my eyes never leaving hers.

in all truthfulness, this was way more drama than amaris could ever expect. it was her first year at hogwarts and damn- what was happening?

he was truly ignorant. he was a young boy searching for trouble, which was not so much a slytherin move but rather a gryffindor one. still, amaris was not one to judge, since she should have been in ravenclaw in the first place. just let him argue. he would never see what sort of trouble it would bring him. detention? yet again, amaris snickered.

amaris felt the boy grabbing her arm in a way that was certainly *not* gentle. 'you let go, dear,' she said, once more starting up her sweet facade, just as he complied and started up his own, pasting a smile onto his face. 'that's much more like a gentleman,' amaris commented. but, of course, she was not one to judge; she had never been a true lady.

she smiled slightly when the boy asked for the house. the boy- yes, amaris didn't even know his name. she only knew that he was a disgusting slytherin. well, she took that back, since that comment made it seem like all slytherins were disgusting. he was a slytherin that just happened to be disgusting. recalling though, it seemed as if he was the only slytherin amaris knew. well, she didn't *know him* know him. he was just an annoying presence in her life.

'gryffindor, yes,' she said, not with no whim. 'though i would think it obvious,' the girl noted. 'are you blind, as well as revolting?' she had to admit it though, the boy had some impressive vocabulary. in fact, amaris didn't know that sanctimonious meant showing superiority. perhaps she wasn't so much of a ravenclaw after all. of course, ravenclaws needed more than an immense vocabulary.

suddenly amaris noticed someone in the corner of her eye. turning away from the boy, she glanced around, trying to find her once more. there she was- curly black hair, fair skin, freckles. she looked familiar. not only that, amaris was positive she had seen her before. right! it was the girl who boy insulted. amaris remembered her name in fact. isabella was it? isabelle? isabel. yes, the latter was correct.

'isabel!' the cuban called out. 'isabel, do you mind coming here for a moment?' was that a good move? did she show cowardice by bringing someone else into the argument? well, isabel would probably be in hot water in the situation.

after calling out for the girl that was the cause of the argument itself, amaris returned her attention to lucian.

yet amaris had caught another movement. it was her cousin, elspeth, a second year ravenclaw. she was standing up and pointing in amaris' direction, mouthing (or maybe she was saying it, but the great hall was so loud there was certainly no way for amaris to hear) what the hell are you doing? well damn her and all her lady-ish beliefs. she was done with being a lady. done.

'i don't think that's any of your business either,' she said to the boy when asked about her friends, just as he had said to her. she blinked innocently as the boy stared into her eyes. well, the situation was so ironic. it just looked as if he was lovesick.

Isabel was having trouble listening to the conversation properly and had decided to just let it go and focus on her friends just as someone called out her name from somewhere behind her. Shrinking into herself for a split second before turning around, she realised it was the voice she'd heard earlier and it belonged to the girl arguing with Lucian. "isabel, do you mind coming here for a moment?"Perfect, she thought sarcastically. Shrugging at her friends who were all looking at her questioningly she got up from the bench and made her way over.

As she approached the bickering couple she walked into earshot. "Now. Let me get back to my meal, with my friends, and I will let you converse with yours. If you have any. Or are you too obstreperous to keep them." "i don't think that's any of your business either,"
Too sick of constantly wasting time and energy on arguing with Lucian, and too hungry to be kind, she smiled at Lucian a tad too sweetly. 'That's a big word Mornstern, congrats' she said before glancing down and almost amicably adding 'How's your leg? Can't be too bad if you're back to arguing.' Looking to the girl that called her over she glanced her over apologetically. 'If you called me over as a reinforcement, I'm sorry but I must dissapoint. I don't feel like wasting my energy on empty insults about blood and houses."

I snorted a laugh at her comment, "Are you insipid as well as vacuous?" I retorted, I did, however, realise how petty I was being. I didn’t want to converse with this weak excuse of a human, I let out an annoyed face when she called the mudblood over, what is she doing that for?

I just sat there as she spoke to someone on the other table. Well, she didn’t speak. Some girl was mouthing something. "Well then don’t mention my friends you obtuse hag," I ran a hand through my hair and let out a breath.

I looked at her through the corner of my eye, “Well look who it is. And yes, Isabel, I know my language having come from a sophisticated family. What about you? Was your best friend the pig in the farm you grew up in?" I asked with a sneer, oh how I wanted to hit something right now. "And my leg is fine, thank you. My ankle was healed before the detention," I explained, my posture rigid showing signs I wanted to be anywhere but here.

"Finally! I can agree with the mu- with Isabel,” I knew I couldn’t say it out in the open! “If you do not mind… I have food to eat. Food is this edible stuff you put in your mouth that gives you energy. If you were too poor to know. You know… living off bread," I addressed, a smile on my face. I had no clue if either of them were rich or poor… but I loved my comeback so there were no hints of embarrassment on my face. Are we done now?

I looked at both of them, imploring them to say something else. I looked around to see if anyone was ear-wigging, I couldn’t be bothered to argue with anyone else foolish enough to think that they have the right to speak to me. I really do not like Gryffindorks. So far all they have done is show how foul they are and how annoying they are. Only good one is Odi. I think the hat did him dirty to be honest. He should be here. With us. A Snake.

Anything else you want to add?” I asked, looking at the instigator. “Or do you want to mind your own business? Why does it concern you what I do with my free time; you’re not my keeper. You’re not my girlfriend — unless you wanted to be? You’re not even related to me last I checked,” I had winked at the girlfriend part (very much a comment said in jest) and then thought if she was pureblood she could be. Dear lord I hope not. I don’t want her in my family! She’s insufferable!
OOC: Despite what Luci says, remember that I don’t think this! You guys (and your characters) are awesome!

He was certainly formidable when it came to words. Amaris had a privileged education, and even she did not understand the words Lucian used. It was unfair, really, considering Amaris could not even comprehend his damn words. Amaris glared at him, annoyed. This was useless bickering, if she was frank. She wanted out. She just needed this damn thing to end. But she was so vexed, that she couldn't control herself, couldn't leave the situation, couldn't leave this pathetic excuse for a human that was the Slytherin boy in front of her. 'Don't you think this very long chat is getting boring?' Amaris implied, voicing her mind bluntly.

What had she done? Why did she need to call Isabel over to join? Wasn't she only making Isabel's life harder? Most importantly, wasn't that move pathetic? Didn't it look like she wanted Isabel as reinforcement? Her cousin was right: what the hell was she doing? Amaris snickered a little at the pig comment, despite it being directed at Isabel. 'I bet,' she started with a laugh at Lucian, 'that you did not merely grow up with pigs, but are a pig yourself.' Hopefully Isabel had not mistook it as an insult directed towards her.

Amaris glared at Isabel as she regarded Amaris annoyedly. 'Don't you think you deserve an apology from Lucian?' She was starting to get a tad mad, surprisingly at Isabel, for not demanding an apology from Lucian. Her plan was certainly sliding downhill. 'Don't you want to stand up for yourself? Don't you want justice in this world? A simple detention won't have it over with, Isabel,' Amaris snarled, perhaps a little accusingly, even though her target was not Isabel.

Her eyes sliding over to Lucian, she leaned back to her own table and took a pastry off of her plate. 'You want food?' she growled at Lucian. 'I'll give you food.' She could feel it. Damn. Her blood was boiling, her hands were wrenching to do something terrible. Damn. She had seen the food fight that broke off earlier in the semester. History would only repeat itself. She hesitated a little, asking herself what she was doing, before she threw the pastry at Lucian.

What had she done? Her brain was telling herself to stop. Stop. Stop. But her body and her mouth were on autopilot. 'That's all I've got to say,' Amaris said, before leaning back to the Gryffindor table, where she would no doubt face many stares and whispers. She turned back to look at Lucian one more time, 'And you're most certainly not my boyfriend.' What Lucian had said hit her like a stone, though. Both from prestigious pureblood families, they could very well be related.

Note: For sake of narration, I am referring you as Lucian, even though Amaris does not know your name IC (she will never call you Lucian unless you introduce yourself).

Note 2: Fighting could get Amaris detention. If Lucian joins he might get detention too. @Avery Leveret, would it be possible to directly request a detention? If not please roll to see if Amaris gets caught.
