Saturday 18th March
Beatrice had thought long and hard about this detention. Only a couple of days into the job, and she was already issuing detentions. The fact that she'd caught two troublemakers on her very first day was, in her mind a record!
When it came to the two troublemakers in her charge, she'd been hesitant to give them something easy. Like writing an essay or cleaning ink. Perhaps another time if when they crossed the line. Having finally thought of what she deemed an appropriate task, she'd set up what she needed to just after dinner, leaving a sign out for others not to collect the items, and then headed to her Common Room.
Since the whole endeavour had started over ink, well what better way then to clean said inkwells. She'd asked around and gathered as many empty inkwells as she could over the past few days, and deposited them onto the floor of the Owlery. Since one of these oh so trouble first years had a thing about mud, he would be the one to gather said inkwells. She'd made sure they were good and buried and asked the elves not to clean the Owlery last night, meaning it would be delightfully smelly and filthy. Just what she needed to teach these rulebreakers a lesson.
Sending an owl that they both should have received over breakfast, Beatrice met them at the top of the stairs. She had with her a book and her wand, something to make sure she didn't lose her mind over watching these two first years, and the other to make sure no other shenanigans happened. A bucket full of soapy water and rags was next to her one the step.
Nodding as they greeted her, she smiled wickedly. "Hello my lovely first years. I hope you're all healed up because I've got a treat for you. You know why your here. But to reiterate, you were fighting in the hallway and purposefully causing injury to another. You-" she stopped to eye Lucian exclusively, "were also using slurs against another student. All of which is against school rules." Reprimand over, she clapped her hands, wand and book making a clack as they met. "Since this all started over ink, and one of you so clearly loves mud, you will be finding 30 inkwells that I have placed in the owlery and cleaning them. By hand too, since you both can't be trusted with magic. You will both be finding and cleaning 15 each. And-" she stopped to take a breath, geez this was a long speech, "because I like my peace and quiet, you won't be speaking. I don't want to hear a peep from either of you." She gestured to the bucket and rags, finding a seat on the top step. "Do come let me know when you've finished. I'll be waiting outside here."
You have now both been given detention. To complete this detention you must post a 300 word post each completing the task. You cannot join or create any new threads until this is complete.

Seems like the day had finally come. Turns out Avery wasn't the only one with a letter today as the prefect who had caught them fighting in the corridors… what was her name again? Beatrice Langstreth, had sent her and the boy that she had almost forgotten the name of, an owl about the detention they will be serving for breaking the rules. As she read it, she didn't feel anger or annoyance but rather, she was accepting. She was aware of what she was doing that day, knew the possible consequences of her actions and to be honest, she wasn't expecting to get away with it. If she did, that'd be a miracle. She did try to keep what happened then a secret though for it might just worry some of her friends or perhaps, intrigue them and make them ask a lot of questions. Then again, they might not just care at all.
A lot happened that day and for some reason, it felt like things went so fast. It was so peaceful, thought it'd just be another day of her doing her usual school routine but boy she was wrong. This boy suddenly decided to pick on her, throw papers for the whole duration of the class and spilled ink on her robes. Not to mention, she was already in a very bad mood because of sleepiness. Her temper got the better of her so when she found out who did it, she confronted them. The next thing she knew, they were already throwing spells at each other.
She made her way to owlery while thinking about that day and then that mysterious letter that she found the other day too. While she could be back in the common rooms wondering about that, she's stuck here and with that boy too. That's probably the only downside of this detention and maybe the fact that they are serving it in the owlery. It'll definitely stink. Still, she was glad in a way that she still managed to get back at that boy for annoying her and despite his attempt in making himself look like the victim and innocent, he still got detention. He did say those words though, that slur and truth be told, she almost snapped when he said that before but luckily, managed to hold her anger in.
As soon as she reached the owlery, the figure of the prefect who had caught them met her gaze and then Lucian. She didn't look at him that long and rather put her focus on Beatrice, listening as she explains what they will be doing. Lucky it's the weekend, they are not in their robes and currently, she is wearing her plain red shirt with black edges and a pair of black shortts complete with rubber shoes. Turns out this task does stink, literally. No one had cleaned this place, she could tell, a perfect set up for detention. As much as she wanted to complain, she couldn't and besides, she already decided to take on whatever will be thrown at her. Was that determination? Or just her taking responsibility for what she had started? Whatever it is, it's something she'll need to get through this.
The task was to find inkwells buried in dirt and owl poop possibly. Then they will clean them. What makes it worse is that they'll be doing it without magic. For someone who has a Muggleborn parent though, cleaning without magic wasn't new. Her mom tells her how she used to help her parents clean their house without magic. There were times when they cleaned the house without any magic and she admits that it was very hard, she can't imagine how her grandparents do it everyday. Thanks to that though, the muggles have her respect. Respect… that seems to be something that some pureblood dont have towards other people, especially Muggleborns. She shook that thought off for now. It'll just annoy her.
No talking huh, she thought, shrugging. Sounds easy enough. She is a quiet girl and the only times she gets loud is when she is with her close friends. It's only when she's with them that she could truly be herself. Not a single word as she made her way to look for these buried inkwells within soil mixed with owl droppings. It reeks, making her scrunch her nose. She has her focus on her task that if Lucian would start throwing insults at her, it'll only result in the same way as what happened back in the classroom, into the ear and out in the other. The more he complains, the happier she gets too. The only times that she will retaliate is when things get… physical. Seriously, if the boy was only insulting her that time, she would've ignored him even if her mood was sour but no, it got a bit physical if you call throwing notes at her physical. Maybe it wasn't that bad but oh well, what's done is done.
Continuing on, she had found a couple of bottles buried deep into the dirt. That was on purpose wasn't it? Of course it was, this is punishment after all. She does wonder if this is effective. Does she feel like not doing anything that'll cause trouble anymore as she tries to get another inkwell out of the dirt? Maybe. Then again, there will definitely be some things that's worth getting a detention for. Maybe that fight with the boy called Lucian was one of those. She showed him a thing or two that day. Well, that's over now so it's back to her quiet self. Since she is a lot calmer now than that time, whatever thrown at her is just gone.
1, 2, 3 and so on. With her focus only on the current task, it wasn't that hard to unravel most of the inkwell that she needs, having no problem getting her hands dirty either. She has a bit experience in handling with soil consider that her mother is quite fond of plants, both magical and non-magical and she tends to help her with that as well so she's no stranger to getting her hands dirty. Once she had gathered enough after trying to locate them all underneath the dirt, she made her way to where she saw that bucket of water filled with a lot of soap and rag to just start cleaning and getting things done. Slowly but surely and thoroughly, she made sure that those inkwells will be sparkly and clean after this. That just reminded her that her ink might be running out soon again and she doesn't exactly expect this boy to pay for what he spilled. Nah, he's not capable of taking responsibility for his action.
It took a while to finish, some of the dirt had sticked onto the inkwell so bad that she needed to scrub it a couple of times to take it off, the water helping a lot. She didn't think too much about anything else during those times, just cleaning, scrubbing, the scent of the soapy water helping in fighting off the stench coming from the their surroundings. They aren't gonna make them clean the whole owlery after this right? That'll definitely be torture. Her arms were getting tired but she endured it, it's almost done, just a little more push. The only time she felt so relieved was when she was on her last inkwell. Finally, it was done after this. She began looking for a place to put these for them to dry before making her way to Bea to tell her about it and hopefully, she doesn't have anything else make them do after this. She just want to relax somewhere after this. As much as she wanted to practice some of her spell castings, her arms are hurting too much for it.

I sat there eating my breaky, chatting with some snakes, and honestly, since the 14th, I’ve been on edge waiting for the owl. I didn’t know when it come or what it would be about. I already knew I would have it with Raizel given my first detention (issued by Emma) I was paired with Ree. It was the what I hated; last time we had to clean stuff up and it was foul! I am from a pure bloodline! I do not deserve to be treated like your everyday house elf!
And that bloody spider went on me hand!
But today it happened. I slowly swallowed what I was eating and received the owl, casting a look over at the Gryff ta me to see my partner in crime receive a letter too. Opening it, I read the letter with anxiety. After reading it, I scrunched it up.
Owlery.
Fan-bloody-tastic. What a way to spend my Saturday: in a room with that div! “Bloody hell,” I grumbled, standing up and sticking my jacket on. I made my way to the owlery, already knowing that this will not end well! What could there possibly be to do in the owlery but clean! Why were all my detentions cleaning ones, why do the prefects hate me so? i am not some cleaning machine, I am a 12-year-old, pureblooded young boy. Last time I checked my family history, I failed to see a certain, sock loving elf there!
Can house elves even procreate? I'm sure they can... I shuddered and bleached that thought from my mind.
When I arrived, it looked like Raizel had been there a few moments, as was Beatrice. I still had a plan to get on her good side. I was an adorable young boy of course. "Miss Langstreth," I greeted with a smile I had plastered on my face many times at Balls. I looked at Rai. "Voltrouz," I said gruffly.
She greeted us and 'wished us well'. I was well to be honest, my ankle didn't hurt at all and I wasn't feeling any affects from whatever else was thrown at me. I really hoped that that wasn't the same for Rai but I had a feeling it was, I could also feel the stares until she eventually looked away. Beatryce told us why we were here - duh, we know why we are here - and then came the comment that I knew was coming. She turned her attention to me, reminding me about the slur. And I would do it again, I thought but I couldn't believe what I was hearing!
"What!" I said, loudly and sharply. "That- that's disgusting!" I was staring at the young girl with wide eyes and even cast a look at Raizel, what did she think about all this. But, sadly, I did this to myself. I took a deep breath with my eyes closed before looking back at the prefect. "I apologise for my outburst," I vocalised, looking her in the eyes before looking away again. I held a scoff at the silence comment. As if. Of course it is without magic, wait, that means I have to touch it with my hands!
As soon as we walked in tears pricked in my eyes. The smell! This is one of the many times I wished I wasn't a werewolf. "This is torture," I mumbled partly to myself. I let out a cough, the smell going to the back of my throat. With shaky hands, I reached for a pile, a whimper in teh back of my throat. I stopped as I got closer; casting a look at Rai.
She was right in it.
"Pst, oi. Assmonkey!" I hissed at her, "Are you used to this? Cleaning up shit?" I added. "Given that your life is such a shit show," I questioned, still eyeing the pile in front of me with contempt. I took a deep breath and dove in, routing around for a bottle. "EW ew ew ew," I repeated, my face scrunching up. “That’s what I feel like doing every time I see you by the way,” I muttered.
I finally found a bottle! 14 more…
After finding a few more, I was hot (as always), smelly, frustrated and my hands were disgusting. “This is your fault,” I hissed again, “If you had kept to yourself!” I rummaged through and got the last one. I tried to hold them all in my hands and walk over but I stepped in a pile of sludge and my foot left me! I dropped most of the ink things in my slip and one lucky one went on Rai’s head.
“Ah, I’m sorry!” I said in between laughs, I didn’t care that I had basically fell over. But the fact that the poop and dirt ridden ink-thing just fell on her head was amazing! My face was going red as I tried to catch my breath, it looked unlucky too. It appears she had finished already and was about to move to inform Beatrice of her completion.
Whoops.
I retrieved the fallen inks, “Okay… I didn’t mean to do that,” and put them by the side so I could easily wash them. I was still laughing as I scrubbed at them, all the gunk suddenly not bothering me. Thankfully, it didn’t take me long to finish cleaning them!
Still not the best thing ever and I will definitely do even less cleaning than I did before! Rai also better keep her wits about her because i’ve set my eyes on her now… either as an enemy or frenemy.
Imagine all the fun we could do together if she kindly removed the Gryffindork stick that’s wedged up her arse.

March 18th
As Beatrice watched the two first years come up the steps, she couldn't help but feel a wave of glee. More-so for Lucian. He was charming, and she could tell he wanted to get on her good side. His cheeky demeanor was somehow getting underneath her skin, and Beatrice couldn't help but like him. Not that she wouldn't find perverse delight today as he sorted through the mud and, bird pellets and droppings. Raizel was quiet as she came up the stairs, more accepting of her fate today. Bea liked that about her. She knew she had done wrong. She wouldn't have to explain a million times on why breaking the rules and getting punished for it was a thing! She tipped her head kindly towards Raizel, and made a similar nod towards Lucian, raising her brows at him. She wouldn't not suspect him of trouble. "Miss Voltrouz. Mister Mornstern."
She left the two alone for some time to complete there task but Bea rolled her eyes as she could hear muffles and mutterings being exclaimed. These children! Or more specifically, one child. She wasn't much older, only a year above them, but with the way one of them was carrying on, she'd thought he was 5, not 11 or 12. Finally she couldn't handle it anymore, and she snapped her book shut and stomped into the Owlery.
Her nose scrunched at the smell. She'd really given it good to these two first years. Bea was sure once the first kick in your throat wave of dirt and bird poop left, she'd be fine. She had grown up on a farm in Scotland with numerous animals, that did just the same thing as the owls. Just on a much larger scale.
It felt like Bea was always getting the good timing, because as she entered, she was able to see Lucian slip on one of the uncleaned bird pellets and take a dive, accidentally throwing an inkwell on Raizels head! She grimaced slightly to herself. That inkwell would have hurt. Not to mention all the dirt and whatnot now atop Raizels head. Coming up to the pair, she snapped at Lucian. "You were supposed to be doing this silently! Finish this in silence." She wasn't even going to make him apologise. Bea figured giving him more opportunity to talk would be worse than making him have manners at this point.
Glancing at Raizel and her pots, Bea could see that the other girl had finished. Walking up to her inkwells, which her lined up quite nicely she might add, Bea inspected them one by one. All were clean and spotless. Smiling at the other girl, Bea announced she could go. "These look great Raizel. You may go." Before the girl slipped off Bea wanted to make sure the girl was alright. "Are you alright? With that head bump?" Beatrice raised her hand to gently brush off some linger dirt that had stayed on the other girls head. "If not go to the Hospital Wing and get it checked out. Thank you for doing what was requested. I hope I see you around, just not in detention. Maybe Duelling Club?" The end of her sentence ending of a laugh, she left the other girl to take her leave. And hoped she got Beatrice's hint.
One of the duo now dealt with, Bea turned to see Lucians progress, a slight frown on her face. He'd made extensive progress while she'd been examining Raizels inkwells. Coming up to him, she glanced between him and the wells. "You know why your here right? This isn't some fun and game to you is it? Firing spells could have seriously hurt. They did hurt! And calling someone that name is just vile!" Once he'd finished cleaning, Bea set about inspecting them, just as she had with Raizels. They were spick and spotless. "Alright these are clean. You can go. Same thing applies," she announced, a small smile lighting up her face, "I don't want to see you in detention again. But I hope to see you around school. Maybe if you're so interested in spell casting, you should sign up for duelling." It was the only way the both of them would be able to cast spells at another in the manner they had, and Bea hoped he took the hint too.
Allowing him to take his leave, Bea took out the inkwell packing box, muttered the incantation for the packing spell, "Pack," with a swish of her wand to follow and set about tidying the rest of the used equipment. Once she'd made sure the bucket and rags were sorted, making a mental note to thank the house elves for their kind work and allowing her to use the owlery and equipment, she picked up the now packed box and book, and slowly made her way back her Common Room.
Your detention is now complete! You are free to go. If you would like to make a reply leaving, by all means do so (just know that Bea will have stayed to pack up).

Deep breaths and then out, the boy she is with wouldn't just shut up making Raizel sigh silently all throughout the whole tasks. As she was expecting, insults came in instantly but she kept her cool, not letting those getting to her. She had endured insults before, she's not new to bullying for she had met people like him before and she had learned to ignore them. What made it hard for her was when Lucian slipped and that inkwell fell onto her head. She gotta admit, that hurts and she got some of that dirt on her head as well. Great, just great.
No, it was just accident, an unfortunate one since she got the end of it and she wouldn't want to do anything here that will get her more into trouble so she just brushed off what she could off of her head while she informed Beatrice about the completion of her task, watching as she just scolded Lucian for all that noisy muttering. That's a win. She tried her best not to smirk and kept a straight face as she stood there, waiting for Bea to finish her inspection of the inkwells she cleaned. "Thank you." She thanked her for the compliment. It was nice really. Not like she gets a lot of compliments too.
When Bea just asked her if she's okay, she instinctively tried to reach up to her head where the bottle had hit her but the older girl was already on it, brushing off the rest of the dirt that she failed to remove and she did flinched a bit at the contact. "Oh, yes, I am fine. It hurts but I don't think it's that bad, thank you for your concern though." She smiled at her and unlike what Lucian was showing, hers was more genuine. Those who shows genuine concern will always get a genuine reaction from her. She did let out a sheepish chuckle when Bea mentioned about seeing her again and just not in another detention. She sure hope so as well.
What truly made her day though was what she said after that. The dueling club. That made Raizel look at Bea once again, a certain gleam present in those dark brown eyes of hers. Excitement filled her as she realized what that means, could she be a new duelist? She is aware of the duelists in school and she did hear about the new ones that had gotten into their house teams, heck even her friend Avery already made it. She won't lie though, she did felt a bit jealous of him as she is still on the waiting list but she shook that thought away. "I'll be looking forward to it." Raizel told Bea with a bright grin on her face, probably the first time she actually showed her emotions all throughout this whole cleaning thing. It's always nice to meet duelists.
Those words had washed off the frustration that she felt when that bottle fell on her, heck, even her aching arms doesn't feel that bad anymore. That really just made her day. "Thanks again." Raizel gave her a wave good bye, still smiling before going on her way. That just fired her up and it's the weekend too. Maybe she'll do a bit of practicing somewhere after all.
Leaving the area, finishing detention
