Sometimes, the best way to deal with stress is to have a nice, good game. The adrenaline and camaraderie of a good ball game. Ideally, he'd have pitched the idea to play Quidditch. or failing that, to play soccer. But he hadn't found members to play either of those sports.

No, he had found something much much better, and it was all the Indian boy not to cackle madly in glee at the prospect of the upcoming game. He was gonna make these people play soccer. But on brooms. "Airball: he called it. "A simplified version of Quidditch". But he knew the truth, and it was going to be G L O R I O U S.

He looked around at the players of each team -- some of these people were known to him, while others were completely fresh faces. "Well, y'all know the drill. We're gonna play for twenty-five scrimmages, and the team with the higher score at the end of the game wins. I want a good, clean game."

A small pause, as Shamsi resisted looking at a certain someone that he knew was likely to cheat if they could get away with it. "Remember to get along, get into it, and most importantly, to have fun!"

Milo cracked his knuckles, yes he couldn't play his typical role of a beater but this would still be interesting. "Clean game? we will see." Milo wasn't really a cheater, he just wanted to stress out the younger lad who was clearly a lot better at speaking English than Milo was. Although he was thankful that he could get some minor quidditch practice in, it had been a little while since he last got to play with folk who weren't on the Beauxbatons team.

The teams were only small, due to the fact there was only two positions on the field, but it was exciting enough for Milo that he almost immediately hopped on his broom and flew up into the air. Spinning around a few times in a variety of directions, the fresh air of hogwarts really was a blessing. He was also glad to meet some more people from other schools, so far he had only really spoken to Serena and not so much anybody else, even in the Hexwizard trial he still didn't overly communicate with the others while he had the chance, he had mostly focused on... the actual Hexwizard stuff. Thinking along that line, it made him wonder when the next Hexwizard game would even be. Hopefully soon.

Yevgeny confidently walked onto the training pitch, projecting an air of maturity that belied his young age, even though both his demeanour and self-assurance were somewhat contrived. Being from the North, he was in the belief that the chilly British weather was relatively mild and no match for him, and what others would consider harsh, he saw as typical weather conditions. Yevgeny's background had prepared him well for these conditions, and he wasn't afraid to venture out even in inclement weather. Having been a broom racer at Dursmtrang, he drew upon this experience to bolster his confidence. He scrutinized both his opponents and allies with a keen eye, eager to assess their strengths and weaknesses. At this very moment, his desire to gauge everyone's abilities and exact potential was perhaps even stronger than his wish to possess magical powers.

After exchanging genuine greetings with his own team and extending gentlemanly gestures towards the opposing team, Yevgeny mounted his broom. "Don't let me down, my Veteran Comet," he murmured to the weathered wooden tool, known affectionately to Yevgeny as "товарищ." "comrade" Despite not being the most advanced or newest broomstick available, he held a sentimental attachment to it. As he executed impressive aerial manoeuvres, a sense of contentment washed over him. He silently wished for a fair and honourable match and eagerly awaited the start of the game, keeping an eye out for Shamsi.

All right, so Maverick might have been dragged here, to this event which was definitely not as prestigious as the school's official Quidditch match (why, this version did not even have beaters or seekers), but there was no way he say no to a chance for riding his broom and something even better: showing off in front of others that he had the best broom in the market and could master it to be the best broom rider at Hogwarts.

But seriously, all desires to show off aside, he always felt the need for speed. He would not be able to live without it.

It was very easy to get distracted, especially if there were visiting students around, so Maverick tried not to look around too much. Thankfully, there was no attractive person around, so that was minus one factor of potential distraction.

The quarter-Veela performed his personal warm up lap, riding around the training pitch in multiple movements to get his Firebolt ready and himself in the mood of a competitive game. "We get this," he whispered solemnly to his broom. Seriously, he may have to come up with a name for the Firebolt soon; it was an important part of his life.

  1. In the role of Chaser, if you have a contested quaffle grab and a contested strength roll between yourself and another user is in progress, unless they have the same broom, you would be the victor of the contested quaffle grab. In addition, rounds where you are successfully carrying the quaffle in an attempt to score, you only take half-damage from bludgers and blatching attempts.
  2. In the role of Chaser when you attempt to catch a passed Quaffle (such as when the Keeper has possession of the Quaffle and passes it to a teammate) you have advantage (meaning that it is rolled twice and you keep the better option) on attempts to catch if the opponent team attempts to intercept.

The world is in despair not because there are many bad people, but because there are many good people who do nothing.

Roleplaying as Ginyami Midorimori from Mahoutokoro
"English | Japanese"
After having had to give up his spot for the Knights Tourney during the Spring Ball, Ginyami was happy to have been given another chance to participate in a game. Once he heard that his schoolmate, Aryaan, was organizing what he called 'Airball', the fourth year immediately asked to join. Again, it wasn't Quidditch, but it was kind of close and it still had the position of keeper which was the role he had played during his younger years at Mahoutokoro.
It would be nice to try his hand at it again and see how well he could play after so long of having not. Since the game was basically a simplified version of Quidditch, he thought it would have been a good opportunity to ease back into playing if he was rusty. He had a lofty goal of getting back into the Mahoutokoro Quidditch Team next year, after all, so practice like this would only help him he figured.

It was a wonderful chance to get to know students from other schools as well since Aryaan had invited kids of all years and all schools to play. Both fortunately and unfortunately, there seemed to be a lack of older students closer to his age. This was unfortunate because Ginyami would have had a harder time getting to know them, but fortunate because it meant he had significantly higher chances of winning with greater experience and abilities on his side. There was just one main obstacle Ginyami foresaw as being a possible problem in the near future and that was the sixth year from Beauxbatons, Milo Durand.

He wasn't Japanese and his name didn't sound familiar so Ginyami was willing to bet he wasn't a pureblood with any sort of wealth or reputation. Those facts in themselves meant that Ginyami already perceived him as inferior in most ways, but there were still some things he could not deny about the older student - things like his good looks, charm, and fearlessness. It would be interesting to see how they faced off against each other in opposing teams, especially since Milo was his own team's keeper.

The narrow-eyed teenager mounted his broom and flew a few laps around the training pitch like a few of the others were doing before moving in closer to listen to Aryaan speak. At the mention of a 'good, clean game', Ginyami smirked and shook his head. Attempting to get away with cheating was half the fun in his opinion. Once Aryaan was finished, Ginyami flew toward the goal hoops as a starting point, ready to begin.

- In the role of Keeper a critical success on an attempt to block a goal not only means that the Keeper caught the quaffle but they have also successfully passed the quaffle (without a chance of interception) to an allied target of their choice. A critical failure in this case cannot happen for a Keeper, they get to re-roll the attempt to block.
- In the role of Keeper when you attempt to block your goal, if your opponent somehow has advantage on attempting to score a goal, that is negated (they only have their normal single roll against you).

Ah, quidditch. Er, “airball”. Funnily enough considering how many games June had referred, she’d never actually played quidditch. Sorry, airball. But if there’s one thing June knew about the sport, it was that chasers needed to be fast and agile. And wouldn’t you know, those were exactly the two skills the racing captain had been focusing on for her, well, broom racing. And without any rock-launching or spell-flinging to worry about, June could focus her mind and hone in on flying fast and accurately.

While most of the participants were strangers to June (Merlin help her, she didn’t know anyone on her own team), there were at least two faces she recognized. The first was organizer Aryaan, who had jumped into her own quidditch game some months prior. He was charismatic and nice enough, though June didn’t know all that much about him. And then there was, of course, Avery Leveret. Someone June would now consider herself well acquainted with after he was with her in the midst of that fateful book-launching party. June certainly didn’t have any friends quite like him, and something about that time spent with him made her very being feel empowered, reminded of who she was and what exactly carrying the Selwyn name meant.

She greeted him with a smile and a friendly nod. “Leveret.”

With her faithful Silver Arrow in hand, June took to the skies, ready to play quidditch airball.

-----A very wasn’t all that into broom sports, but when he was gifted an old Silver Arrow on the easter break, he was sure to test it out as soon as he could.

He’d likely get into a fair bit of trouble, but he figured that it would be very odd indeed to discover something so menial to be missing from their grand estate. His brothers were barely home and he doubted his mother or father would go looking through their old things. Alas, the day had come and he was joining a number of students for a game of Airball. He figured it wasn’t too bad to get to know some of the international students that were on his team, or those of the other team; and Harlan. At least he could watch Harlan from a different perspective. Avery wasn’t too sure of the lad, and didn’t know if he knew that Avery knew; and yet he still wondered if that would change his attitude; something he was yet to determine anyway.

It was an unofficial game, but one that Avery would take seriously; as he did with all things. This was only demanded of him when he met eyes with June again; causing a wide grin to spread only briefly as Milo and Yevgeny shot off into the sky. June had offered him the respectable greeting they had come to prefer, so he awarded her the same back with a smile and a nod:

“Selwyn. - If I’d have known you were playing I may have had second thoughts…” He gave in playful jest, it seemed one of the rare times Avery Leveret was seen building somebody up; was it perhaps because he had planned to take her down?

He saddled the silver arrow he had absconded with, and couldn’t resist making a similarly playful comment at Harlan:

“Show us what you’ve got, Montgomery!” He said with another wide grin, the snake was feeling lofty today. He shot into the air after he team mates. Their strategy talks were brief and quick, and he quickly took up his position as one of the chasers of his team. His dark pools followed the opposition, as a thin smile creeped onto his sharp features.

Action as strategized.

BEING ON A BROOM FEELS LIKE HOME, Harlan loved his toy Firebolt and remembered how much hours he spent circling his home because the idea of flying felt just like the feeling of true freedom. He hadn't been sure what he wanted to do while at Hogwarts, signing up for the Broom Chasers but still toying with the idea of being a duelist or even trying out for the Quidditch Team. At the very least, this tiny little friendly game of AirBall might have been the perfect thing to test out his skill compared to the others.

He'd known a few of the people participating, but not anyone that he was extremely close. Seeing that Avery was on his team, he offered the other boy a nod in acknowledgment as he settled himself onto his school broom. " No need to worry about me, snake. Us lions always pull through. " Pushing himself even further and testing the speed a little, Harlan was ready to showcase his talent and hopefully wouldn't make a dang fool out of himself in front of everyone.

" Alright ladies and fellas, let's get this game rolling! " With the adrenaline already pumping through his veins, Harlan glanced around quickly to spot where his team mates were and he was ready to start.

The blond, brownish first year walked briskly to the field. She was playing an interesting game of airball, something that she never had actually tried. Still, being her usual breezy self, she decided to give it a go. Perhaps she would be as nimble as she was on her feet when dancing as she was on her broom - but that was still to see.

She saw her teammates around, and Angelique gave everyone a smile. She hovered in the air a meter before the ground and then shot up like a rocket, testing her broom. It was kept in a nice condition, occasionally a stick sticking out at an odd angle. Still, it was better said than done.

The wind ruffled up her hair as she launched upwards, truthfully finding it quite glorious to be able to fly without a spell. A familiar swooping sensetation filled her stomach, but she found the courage to look up and face her teammates. There was Captain June, the girl she had known just by this and a few others, too many others to be mentioned and memorize. For now, she looked at the referee, wondering when the game was about to start. She was determined.

SCORES
20-20
Aryaan couldn't help but grin at the sight in front of him. A bunch of misfits assembled before him; from Broom Racers who would play airball (with just one ball this time, not three), to aspiring kids looking to step up and show off their skills, to Quidditch players -- both former, and in the case of one particular Beauxbatons upper-year, current. It was just the kind of chaos that he loved!

How would they come together in the face of this game; playing with people they had never met, in roles they were not used to? Would they come together as a team, or would they try and show off their individual skills? In a way, it was taking sports right down to zero, and starting from scratch.

And if that didn't get your blood pumping...well. then you're just boring!

"Ready?" Aryaan could barely keep the anticipation out of his voice. "Andddd FLY!"

And immediately they were off, and Aryyan could not help but notice that Harlan and Maverick seemed a bit slow on the uptake. Perhaps they had not warmed up enough? He made no comment, but made a note to keep an eye on them for injuries. Not all players seemed June broke out of the initial scrimmage with the Quaffle in hand, zipping past almost every Chaser with laughable ease, before feinting and shooting right past right past Milo's defences.

Oh wow. That was fast. And impressive. A moment of stunned silence, before he got a hold of himself--

"BLUE TEAM SCORES. 10-0"

The second scrimmage went differently. Yevgeny had the Quaffle, before it was stolen by Maverick in an excellent display of aerodynamic ability and timing. The Hogwarts kid shot directly towards the goals, but hesistated at exactly the wrong moment; allowing Milo a relatively easy save. So far, it seemed like Blue Team was putting on a solo show, without any teamwork between the chasers. Not that it mattered; with the kind of skill they seemed to have on their side, Milo would have his work cut out for him.

The third scrimmage was a repeat of the first -- with Maverick making a half-hearted attempt for the Quaffle when he saw that June was on it, and the blonde girl easily outmaneuvering her opposition Chasers to come face to face with Milo. She took her shot, and for a moment Aryaan thought that Milo had saved it again, but some tricky spin on the quaffle had it spinning past the Keepers gloves and into the hoops.

"BLUE TEAM SCORES. 20-0"

In the fourth scrimmage, things came to a head. Maverick, in that unspoken agreement of alternating control of the Quaffle with June, want aggressively for the Quaffle just to accidentally bodyblock Angelique, their Chaser teammate who had largely been left in the dust. In that momentary confusion, Harlan seized the momentary opportunity and the Quaffle with it, and threw it --

Wait what?

All caught up in the action, Aryaan hadn't noticed that June's friend Avery had not been going for the Quaffle himself. Instead, he had positioned himself near the hoops, where he received the Quaffle cleanly to take a shot.
...Or he would have been, had he not been facing Ginyami, ex-Keeper for Mahoutokoro. Ginyami expertly closed the distance with Avery, using his larger size to bodyblock the younger kid. Not one to be intimidated, though, Avery cooly took his shot and SCORED. Aryaan wasn't sure he could have pulled that off in that distance.

Darn, Hogwarts seemed to have all the young talent!

"RED TEAM SCORES. 20-10"

Where blue team seemed to opt for individual plays, highlighting the strength of their individual players, red team had opted for co-operation. In the fifth scrimmage Harlan bodychecked June, allowing Yevgeny to steal the Quaffle from Right under Angelique and Maverick. The seond-yeear Durmstrang boy made for the hoops, as if he was going to shoot. When Gnyami moved to intercept, Yevgeny instead passed to Avery, allowing the Slytherin first-year a relatively clean shot into the hoops.

"RED TEAM SCORES. Scores even at 20-20"

Avery was clearly very skilled, but he couldn't have made those shots without assists from his fellow chasers.

Aryaan couldn't stop grinning. This was a clash of opposing ideas. Who would come out on top? It was still anyone's game
