Ava had done multiple duels before. Every time it had been 1v1. But now, she was on a team. On a team with another slytherin, even. Opal Brinkman. An acquaintance, at best, although not quite a positive one. Differences aside, they shared a common goal. To win. Well, that was part of Ava’s goal. Ava also wanted to gain some experience, learn more about dueling. She knew some right now, but some was never enough Ava wanted more.

They met in the dueling club, with Rita moderating the duel. Hopefully this would be more fair than her first duel, where the duel moderator was Damion White. He had been cheering against her the entire time, and it had been pretty obvious. Whenever Ava failed and Avery had succeeded, he had grinned.

Ava needed to focus on what was at hand. She stood near Opal and whispered something only Opal could hear. Whether it be about strategy or just a witty remark, it seemed to energize Ava as she made her way towards the right side of the stage.

Rita introduced themselves to each other. André and Alexander on the left side, her and Opal on the right. They were instructed to bow to each other. She gave their opponents a wink and bowed with a flourish. She held her wand at the ready, waiting for the sign to begin.

Alexander used to see himself as someone who was not physically inclined. Therefore, he always labelled himself as someone who was incapable of participating successfully in group games. Moreover, he accepted and never questioned this self-assessment submissively and believed it to be an irrefutable truth about himself. Prior to his attendance at Hogwarts, Alexander was more drawn to solitary activities like contemplative thinking, introspection, intense writing, and other similar undertakings that could be enjoyed alone, rather than engaging in sports. Although Alexander was accustomed to doing things in a particular way before his arrival at Hogwarts, the castle did not comply with his expectations, and he encountered new challenges that compelled him to question his perception of self. As he spent more time at Hogwarts, he gradually comprehended the fluidity of one's identity and character, and how they are not fixed constructs but constantly evolving narratives. He came to realise that his previous self-perceptions were no longer relevant, and that character was akin to a fluid river, not an immovable rock. After reflecting on this insight, Alexander resolved not to be confined by the character labels he had created for himself. He understood that such labels could become self-fulfilling prophecies that could shape his destiny if he allowed them to control him. Therefore, he endeavoured to break free from the narrative he had constructed, recognising that it was within his power to reject it and prevent it from becoming his fate.

Alexander Harland, who had previously been disinterested in group games, had undergone some changes and had now developed an interest in Quidditch and a curiosity about duelling. He was now participating in a group game moderated by a fellow badger, Rita Su, in which two parties would engage in a duel. Alexander's ally in the duel was André, whom he had met on his first day at Hogwarts in the Hufflepuff Common Room. Despite the fact that the opponents were two Slytherin girls who were strangers to Alexander, and although it was to gauge their exact strength, he was optimistic about their chances of winning. He exchanged a reassuring look with André and wished their team luck before bowing his head respectfully to their opponents.

With his prominently short wand in hand, he felt prepared for the task ahead.

André had hoped he would be in the Duelling club again soon after his 1v1 match with the Gryffindor boy Asher Blackjack. He had ruled well, but so had André. He felt as if he could do the same here, if he focused well and didn't freak out. He could definitely win.

The current Duelling match he would be partaking in he would have a partner, someone he had know, and meet before, Alexander Harland. He had first meet him in the hufflepuff common room were they spent the first night together. And he was pretty nice! There opponents he wasn't as familiar with, two first year Slytherins. Ava and Opal. He never meet them before, at least any time that he could remember. André was sure they'd put up a good match, and keep things interesting.

Now pulling his wand out of his pocket, He took a deep breath before doing as instructed and was bowed to the girls, with a smile. "As Rita said lets have a good duel." He held the aspen wood and Phoenix feather wand his hands, in the correct stance. Ready to cast his first spell, on his first target. Hoping that Alex was doing the same.
