Well, Percival was doing quite well… knock on wood. So far, none of the Basilisks had sustained wince-worthy injuries. This was a win in Wyatt’s book, who acknowledged the fact that they were all still alive before returning his focus to the game. Not before he briefly wondered whether Alec was watching in the stands. Now his focus returned to the game.

Now would be the time to start to worry a little more. Ari caught sight of Bloom zipping past to the front of the pack, but the Slytherin racer he had begun to keep an eye on had caught up and was just behind her now. Bloom was experienced though. She'd won races for Ravenclaw before, and she could do it again. Ari had faith in her.

Slytherin looked to be on a warpath at this point, almost all of them attempting to take out one of the poor Ravenclaws with whatever objects they could pick up. Harper looked like she was doing well with avoiding the projectiles, but sadly it was not enough because two well aimed objects managed to knock her out. She was done for the race.

Slytherin's luck for actually flying does seem to have run out for the moment. Two of the three racers attempting to make their way passed the Cockatrice managed to spot it, immediately feeling the effects of the slowness caused by the strange creature. The third did not notice, maybe it was because he had already dealt with the wrath of the creature earlier. He was still unable to avoid taking a hit from the angry creature though.

It was starting to be a close race to the end. Some Slytherin racers making their way through the obstacles without any issue, maybe they had their minds set on the end and did not even notice what was going on around them at this point. Whatever it was, they were starting to do really well, although it was not like they were doing awful in the first place.

Slytherin was in the lead, slowly making their way towards the end of the race. They were almost there, it was in sight if they weren't having to go through a narrow passage to be able to get to the end. But they all knew it was there, the finish line where they would be able to brag about their win until the next race began in Spring.

So close, he had been so close to making it to the end and yet the Devil's Snare had decided to end that with a flick of one of its vines. Any struggling and the angry plant would only tighten its grip so he would need to be careful with what he was doing. Ravenclaw on the other hand had not moved at all during the race, maybe they had lost confidence due to one of their racers being taken out, maybe it was a strategy that Logan did not understand.

Bloom continued to fly on her broom to as many units as she could, but she felt like nothing was happening. It was like time was stopping, but really it wasn't. Was she slowing down? Who knew. Immediately, she saw some Slytherin opponents passing by her into the further units. Bloom was not going to let them get away so easily.

They were so darn close to the finish! Well, Clair was not, but Bloom was and Clair could feel the excitement building in her, it was going to be a close one, a really really close one. She could feel the wind on her hair and cheeks, she knew her cheeks would be bright pink and they would only get pinker as she got more speed and raced longer.

----Excellent, not only was she going very slow, but Vale was having a very hard time seeing as well. This is just what she signed up for! Other than to terrorize her opponents and all. Now she gets to experience going agonizingly slow and be damp, but now she can go agonizingly slow with poor eyesight...and be damp.

Wyatt felt himself get slower, but he also noticed Harper fall from the sky after being hit with his and Colin's improvised projectiles. Wyatt gave the first year a nod before he passed, appreciating their small success while they could. Wyatt was frustrated by his sudden drop in pace but being frustrated wasn't going to get him anywhere. Apparently, throwing stuff at the eagles was, though.

June’s breath hitched in her throat as she watched one of the Ravenclaw racers go down. Sure, June hadn’t been the one to send her to the ground, but she’d thrown her fair share of projectiles, and it didn’t feel good to hurt someone. But any hesitation dissipated once she saw Percival take the lead. A new sense of determination filled her mind, she could do this.

Colin returned Wyatt's nod with a smirk as they watched Harper fall from the sky like a stricken chicken! He'd learned how to throw a hunting stick when he was younger, and it was no different than throwing a tree branch he'd picked up now! "That's one bird with clipped feathers mate!" Even though the searing pain from that ruddy oversized chicken of a cockatrice was getting to Colin, he wasn't about to let that stop him from flying full steam ahead!

Unless of course he followed Harper into unconsciousness...

Percival doubled down on his speed and went faster than he had ever been. It almost seemed like the obstacles weren’t there as he zoomed through them and eventually the opposing team. With the finish in sight there was hope that Slytherin could well and truly win this race. However, devils snare had to come and ruin the moment. For now, all he could do was try his best to get out and gain the much needed victory for his team. Afterall, they needed it more than anything.
