Bad Things Come to Those Who Wait
Continued from here
The last to arrive, Castelobruxo would arrive in London by cupboard late morning. The journey across the ocean taking mere minutes. Once there the group of students would take a train to Hogsmeade Station. Some might argue that they should have boarded the Hogwarts Express, but the Hogswarts Express had already left for Hogsmeade by the time the Brazilian wizards had arrived at the station. They had missed their train.
Allegedly the conductor was told that Castelobruxo had no intention of joining the other schools for this ball and the subsequent Hexwizard Tournament that they were not participants in. It was a sound claim, at least sound enough that the conductor took someone at their word and left an hour early. Stranded at London Station, alternative measures would have to be made in haste. A late train from London station to Hogsmeade would have transport the students to Hogwarts.
The students would find themselves in for a long wait. Several hours in fact, luggage in tow at Platform 9 3/4, the Hogwarts Express would drop off the Koldovstoretz students without incident and then return to London for a late evening journey back to Scotland. The students would arrive at 1:00 in the morning.
Far too late to impose on a resident's floo, they would find themselves boarding a carriage in the middle of the night. A team of thestrals would pull open wagon down the uneven dirt road to Hogwarts, An unpleasant journey that would go well into the night. 1:47 in the morning, approximately 100 meters from the gates of Hogwarts something would go terribly wrong.
Boom
Something exploded. A pair of pillars of fire would erupt on either side of the road, spooking the thestrals and causing the carts to turn over. Some of the vegetation would catch fire and several (all posters) would be thrown from the cart. Their luggage strewn about the road, battering some of the unfortunates (second and fourth poster) before they could regain their berarings from being thrown from their cart.

Raul had few nice things to grumble under his breath about his arrival and reception in the United Kingdom. For one, he’d been forced to sit and wait at Kings Cross for hours as the train dropped the upstart Russian kids off at Hogsmeade before returning. That had been absolutely mind-numbing. Countless time spent sitting in the busiest station in England, staring at walls and desperately trying to stop himself from going insane. London was a horrible city, all concrete and stone. The water of the Thames lacked the vast power of the Amazon, and the cobbled streets of the largest city on the British Isles gave the nature-minded teenager a headache. Sure, São Paulo was bigger, but Raul’s heart hardly lived in the city of his birth. He’d been captured, enamoured, by Castelobruxo and the Amazon Rainforest. Having to spend yet more time in a land as far from that locale as could be imagined had been hellish.
The company had hardly been better. Why the most noble school of Castelobruxo insisted on sending mud-bloods and miscreants to represent the school in spectating the utterly farcical Hexwizard tournament was beyond Raul’s comprehension. But so it was, and that meant having to tolerate the absolute dregs of South American wizarding society. For Christ’s sake, some of them weren’t even members of that society.
So he’d stewed and grumbled in the train station, then stewed and grumbled in the carriage. For once, he was almost silent, only speaking to snap or bark at whatever unfortunate soul had dared to ask him a question. On more than one occasion he angrily ruffled through his bags, slamming items aside and down with the intent of making as much of a scene as possible. A few younger students had gotten the venom from his tongue when they’d dared to try to intrude on his sulky little tantrum, and he’d seen out the rest of the trip.
Finally, he would be arriving at Hogwarts. He would be able to get some God damned sleep and would see to making life hell for whoever had the misfortune of seeing him first thing in the morning. The horseless carriages moved forward, and Raul dared to close his eyes for a moment, letting the drowsy half-sleep of the exhausted wash over him.
That dreamless slumber was interrupted by a cacophonous boom. Light flared from beyond his eyelids, and sheer panic forced them open. Raul yelped, as fire and danger threatened to subsume his entire existence. The carriage rocked as if the wood itself was spooked, and teetered on the edge of chaos. Unable to ground himself, the seeker was flung from the carriage.
Pain ripped through him as his outstretched arms bore the brunt of his weight. His rational brain would dumbly file away the fact that he’d likely sprained his wrists, centuries of instinct and lizard-like thinking took over. Pillars of fire stretched out from the sides of the road, and students and luggage lay strewn across the ground.
Raul stared dumbly at a patch of fire not a few metres from his face. It had been a lovely patch of thistles, he noted sadly and stupidly. The flowers were ablaze. For a few moments longer, he lay stunned, before he forced himself to his feet. His arms refused to cooperate, as if the shock of hitting the ground had cast all the strength from them.
As he stumbled to his feet, he tried to reach for his wand, but found his weakened muscles would not deliver enough grip strength to grasp at the instrument.
“By the blood of Merlin…” Was all he could mutter, as he turned to the chaos around him, checking over the forms of the other students who’d been cast from the carriages.

As much as they might like to believe it, teenagers were not adults. And Monet, freshly 13, was doing her very best to seem like an adult in the midst of what could only be described as a travel disaster. Close to Boe’s side she stayed as they realized that the South American school had been left behind.
After a long, boring, crowded and smoggy wait at the station (the smell of London was even worse than it was than she remembered) and a long, boring and crowded train ride, Monet was struggling to keep her eyes open. If there was a wizarding treatment for jetlag, she hadn’t found it yet.
The gentle movement of the horseless carriages had lulled Monet in and out of sleep, her head lolling to the side, resting on the shoulder of whoever was sitting next to her (Likely Boe, if he had chosen to share a carriage with her). The young girl looked blearily forward as the large, grey castle pulled into view, half-dreaming of being pulled into the warm embrace of a plush bed.
And then there was an explosion.
And then she was on the ground, her head battered by her suitcase that was sitting beside her.
Her senses seemed to shut down as she was flung from the carriage, the world around her suddenly dark and quiet. Her face was plunged into the cool grassy earth, the back of her head now warm from the spreading fire around her.
Fire.
Monet broke out in a sweat. Shit, things were on fire.
As she tried to push herself off the ground, Monet found herself pinned, stuck. She craned her neck behind her to find she was buried under several large suitcases. Damn these students and their need to keep up appearances.
She slowly turned over, the pain from her head starting to make an appearance. She grunted as she tried to force the luggage off of her. “Shit, can someone help get these damn things off of me?!”

To say Sabrina was so far no impressed by the wizards and witches of the UK would be an understatement. Sabrina was one for timeliness and so far she was very annoyed with their lack of showing up on time. Sabrina sighed and sat down on the floor of the station. She knew she wouldn’t be able to wait longer. Her patience just wasn’t able to stand that long without being able to do something. Sabrina’s arms were crossed tightly in front of her with her legs folded on the floor next to her. That’s when the explosion went off. Boom. Sabrina heard a scream matching with her own yelp if fright. What was happening? Sabrina thought, panicked. She groaned and rubbed her head. She struggled to sit up with all the rubble on and next to her.
“¡ Hola! ¡Será mejor que alguien me ayude a levantarme para que no me quede atrapado aquí en la estación por más tiempo!” Hey! Somebody better help me up so I’m not stuck here at the station even longer! Shouted Sabrina, annoyed and in partial pain. She attempted to sit up once again but only made her head throb with even more pain. She groaned once again and her eyes blurred the second she looked around at the rest of the station. Once her eyes cleared, she saw that the rest of the station seemed to be a wreck. Sabrina let her neck lean back a bit so her head rested down on the floor, littered with bits of rock.

Polyjuiced as:

There was so much more than a tournament between pampered wizards at stake. Castelobruxo was not participating in the international tournament and they had only re-initiated international communications. They had heard about what was happening in the 'European schools' and if the papers were accurate, then a 'disaster' would be an understatement. It could be spun as 'forward-thinking' and inclusive, but did non-wizards deserve to learn side-by-side with real wizards? No, deserve was the wrong word, should they be included? The evidence was staring them in the face, one disaster after another had plagued Hogwarts, the international darling.
As expected, it was already absolute mayhem. The pillars of fire on either side of the narrow road spooked the thestrals. Students from Castelobruxo were flung from the open wagons and they landed on the dirt road hard. No major injuries, just chaos and drama, a little bit of fire which seemed to be a wizarding trademark.
They could thank their lucky stars that nobody was seriously hurt in the explosion. A bit unnerved, disoriented, mildly bloodied and of course scuffed but it was nothing a forgetfulness potion and the school nurse could not fix.
"Marion Davenport" would walk onto the road from the ditch that they were sitting in, grabbing brambles with a bare hand and leaving the broken branches in their hair that they lightly tousled with their fingers. Their suitcase was laying in the dirt, a wheeled container made of leather that was heavier than it looked would be dragged behind them as they made their way onto the road.
They would scamper with a mildly exaggerated limp to Sabrina (@Valerie Song), one of the younger-appearing victims. They were poorly dressed for the incident, donning a sweater dress and a pair of wedge heels, that seemed like something the real girl would wear. Wordlessly they reached down to the girl with an extended hand and attempted to help pull the girl to her feet.

To say Agata wasn't impressed was an understatement. Her own school and transportation had been fine enough, traveling via cupboard quick and simple. But the rest? Utterly abysmal. They should have made other arrangements to get to the school. Being left on at the train station for hours upon hours on end had been apparently the highlight of her day. The young peruvian had rolled her eyes boarding the train, huffing to herself about Europeans and proper manners.
As her and her schoolmates exited the train and were escorted onto carriages, the long journey finally caught up with her. She'd been awake for what felt like days, and as the carriages rocked up the hill to the castle, Agata felt her eyes close, her body lulled to sleep. Just a few minutes. It was all she needed, and then when they got there, the could find a nice bed to fall into. Soft warm pillows entered her dreams as the carriage continued up.
What woke her wasn't her body falling onto soft pillows though. Hard, gritty dirt woke her as her body fell to meet it, having been jolted from the carriage as it overturned. Agata jolted upright, or as upright as she could get. Bags and trunks littered the area around her body, the heavy objects a blockade to her being able to stand upright. Screams and fire rained down upon her, and in her sleep-filled confusion, Agata whimpered out a spanish curse. Darkness and fire filled her vision. Was the world beginning anew? The gods creating the world in a great ball of fire? What had happened?
Her wits slowly returning, she tried to find her wand somewhere in her robes, scratches and bruises sure to be on her arms and legs later. Not to mention the rest of her body. She needed to get up. Find the others. Hopefully her wand hadn't been thrown about onto the ground. She needed the tool to get these stupid things off of her! Struggling, she gave up, her head falling back onto the uneven ground beneath her. Panic filled her, a shrill shout leaving her lips, "Help! Help me someone!" As she lay there, a sob escaped her. She should have just stayed home like Sherlock.

Panicked cries dragged Raul out of his slump and into action. He was hardly the heroic type, far from it, but it seemed he was one of the few students who had both the good fortune to land relatively unharmed and without being crushed by luggage. He fumbled for his wand again, hissing profanities to get his digits to work, before pointing the instrument at the first voice he’d heard. Of course, he didn’t know that it belonged to the utterly repugnant Monet Navvaro-Gallay. And upon seeing her form freed by his own wandwork, should the spell work, he would have little to say but curses and insults.
“Wingardium Leviosa,” He’d enchant hoping for the best with his rather poor charm-casting skills.
Success would see the boy sneer, “Of course you find yourself pinned by luggage. Get the fuck up and help me with the others. You’re not hurt are you?”
He’d little interest in being polite, even on an evening on which his school had been attacked by unknown assailants.
Failure would result in a much more dour, albeit less insult-laden diatribe, “Ashes of the thrice-damned saints. Where are the teachers? Where are the English?”
Despite his questioning, it would be clear that Raul had little interest in actually ascertaining their whereabouts for himself. After all, that would require effort, and all of his effort was going into trying not to bolt from the fire and the panic.

Bad Things Come to Those Who Wait
Narration:
The explosion was more disruptive than harmful. A pyrotechnics show that spooked the thestrials and sent some of the students tumbling along with their luggage. Nice guy Raul would come to Monet's aide, the girl being pinned beneath luggage. They were in a Scottish castle for a few weeks, not in the rainforests of Brazil for a few weeks. Yet here she was, under the weight of a thousand pairs of underpants packed by someone taking precaution in case they pooped their pants hourly while they were here at Hogwarts. Truly, their heavy cuisine was a bit much for some but this might have been excessive.
Agata had been thrown from the carriage, and she hit the ground hard. The roadburn might have been the worst of it, it would sting as it met the air. She would not see much through a smoky haze where she had fallen. Her wand tossed only a few meters away, it was lost in the high grass. The shouts of her friends classmates and the complaints of Raul being particularly loud, she would need to pull herself up and escape this roadside ditch before something else happened.
Little did she know, something else was happening at the very moment as a tall blonde attempted to ingratiate herself with one of her peers, Sabrina. She seemed 'normal' enough, thin, tall, pretty, not badly hurt, just a bit lightly mussed up from the explosion. Nothing obviously dangerous or bad, just an extended hand.
Raul had cast Wingardium Leviosa at the luggage that had pinned Monet. (Roll: 18) His ego was not just bold claims, of course the teen was able to cast such a rudimentary spell and 'save' his weaker peers from an untimely fate that included being crushed by someone's toiletries, possibly even his own. It was a good thing they were not in the hex Tournament, he was of course the only competent one among them as other cries for help rang through the air.
None of them would look, so none of them would find an apparent source. The ladies were looking for their wands (never give me ideas), attempting to push the luggage that pinned them off of themselves or screaming for help. Help that would eventually come, it was a big enough of an explosion but it was far enough from the gates that nobody would see the chaos that had erupted on the roadway. Jut a bunch of scared kids, spooked thestrials in the late evening. The denizens of Hogsmeade disturbed in their beds, many of the students tucked away for a long night of rest in the castle less a few that stayed up late to greet these final carriages. Surely at least one among them had a friend at Hogwarts, as astonishing as that might have been.
Solomon
There were some Professors at the gate, Solomon among them. He would hear he explosion and in the inky blackness one would have thought he would have seen a flash of light, but he saw nothing in the darkness. Just a need to run in the direction. [3 rounds until arrival]
Mahoutokoro suffered an incident earlier in the day that he was still attempting to comprehend. The near drowning of a ship full of students, an incident blamed on a failed series of runes that allowed the water to enter the vessel and prevent the vessel from rising. A tragic accident that made no sense, not really when someone thought about it. About the hundreds, no thousands of times these trips had transpired without incident. Not that there was much that could be done as of yet. The ship needed to be recovered still and it sat at this very moment at the bottom of the great lake. Any hope that he had that this was all a tragic happenstance evaporated.
"Lumos," he would mutter and the tip of his wand would erupt into a bright write light. The clank of armor and the distant shout "Hello! Is anyone out there!" was barely a whisper still for those contending with injuries and confusion.

Where was everyone?? As she lay on the ground, head throbbing, she thought she could hear the snarks of some her more well-known classmates but everything was murky. She wasn't sure it had really been anyone with the pain and panic gripping her. As she lay there listening out for any to come help her, she realised no one would. She would have to save herself. With or without people and her wand. She'd have to do it the muggle way.
Wriggling her legs, she tried to manuevur them and get space to push the luggage off her body. The bloody trunks were heavy and uncooperating though. Did the the students pack rocks them?! Muttering something unintelligible under her breath, she tried to use both her arms and legs to push the trunks off of her. In the end it looked like she was trying to imitate some sort of worm flailing on the grass. But slowly it was working, the trunks were moving. She could the heavy weight being lifted off her and she gasped in beautiful, if slightly smoky, air.
Sitting up, she touched the back of her forehead, coming upon a raised bump. She hissed as her fingers came into contact with the protrusion and Agata resolved it would be the first thing that got fixed when these stupid Englishmen came.
Staggering upright, she called out again, hoping this time she would find her school mates, "Hello? Anyone there?" She continued in English, hoping perhaps the sweet little Hogwartians would not be asleep in their nice little warm beds and actually help her school, "Help!"
The smoke, darkness and pain were blinding her path. She set out at an uneven pace, hoping to find someone that could help her. Maybe she'd fin her wand on the way.

As the weight was lifted off her, Monet took a deep breath. She quickly pushed herself up, stumbling back from the place where she'd been pinned. As she laid eyes on her savior, Monet felt the color drain slightly from her face. "God damn it," she mumbled under her breath.
Of course it had to be this asshole. This selfish, narcissistic, ego-centric poor excuse for a human who wasted his time throwing insults Monet's way at what seemed like every opportunity he had. And yet... He wasn't wrong. It was her who was trapped, him who had saved her and, Monet felt her pockets for her wand to no avail. Well, it was her who had lost her wand. As much as Monet wanted to bite back, yell, scream, punch Raul right in his stupid face... She couldn't bring herself to do it.
Know your place, a small voice inside whispered to her. With death in her eyes and between gritted teeth, Monet forced out a "Thank you, Raul."
Was she hurt? Now that the adrenaline was fading slightly, she could better assess herself. "No, just a little bruised and covered in shit," she attempted to brush the dirt off of her, "but I'll be fine." Help the others? Perhaps Raul was not as much of a monster as Monet anticipated. She nodded, "Sure, just give me a moment, I think I dropped my wand around here when I fell..."
