───────────────────────────────────── MAHOUTOKORO ───────────
───
It was Friday, April 21, 2023.

Tone had been at Hogwarts for the past five days and it had been as much fun as he'd remembered.

The only downside was Akira hadn't been able to come this time. Lately, it seemed as if something had been going on with him and he wouldn't tell him. Even during the Hexwizard Tournament he'd been a little off which worried him. A sigh escaped his lips. He couldn't help but think Akira might have been their good luck charm. After all, the one time the boy hadn't come with them, Mahoutokoro had experienced a rather chaotic arrival to Hogwarts. Something had gone wrong with their ship upon reaching their final destination.

But it hadn't stopped there. Even the barrier protecting students had broken a few seconds later.

Either it was foul play by someone, or sheer bad luck and timing on their part, and if it was the latter... well, what had been different about their trip this time? Akira had been there with them the first time around but not this time. Therefore, Tone thinking of Akira as their good luck charm wasn't much of a stretch to believe.

A few hours before entering the place the spring ball was being held, the duo-toned teen's attention had been caught by a certain someone. A person who he'd seen down below, as he'd been practicing on the precious gift Akira had given him for the start of the New Year. He'd said it was a Christmas and New Year's present from him. It had literally been the best gift Tone had ever received in his entire lifetime. So he'd been testing it out ever since then, as often as he could do so. It didn't matter that he'd had it for over three months now...

It still felt new to him! So naturally, he'd keep practicing on it until the ends of time. At any rate, Tone had met someone he hadn't met the last time he'd been at Hogwarts. And he was quite happy to make a new friend! This one's name was Cassandra Ironwoods. But that was too much of a mouthful for him. Tone ended up deciding to call her Mori. Mori was Japanese for 'wood' and he liked woods and forests. He also liked Cassandra. So it made sense why he'd want to call her that name. She hadn't wanted to go to the ball....

Normally, Tone would have stayed with her and gotten to know her better.

But he'd told Nica he'd go to the ball and look for her there. So, he couldn't end up not going now!

Therefore, it was with great reluctance that he'd left Mori on her own. But he'd promised that he'd track her down afterward so they could talk some more! Tone was dressed up as a prince, having already been able to get a costume like this from last year. Akira had given him one of his older outfits. As Tone headed over to where the spring ball was being held, he paused at the entrance. Well, this certainly looked different from the other balls! It kind of reminded him of the first stage of Save Your Date, the maze they'd had to navigate.

Could this be a maze too? Tone let his eyes flicker over the area. It was a little dark due to the time of afternoon, which kind of made him nervous. He didn't do well with scary things. The hedges and shrubs loomed up everywhere and made him wonder if something scary would pop out at them. Reaching into his pocket, he made sure his wand was there with him. Okay, it was fine. From what he could see from his current position, it didn't seem to be completely dark. That made him feel relieved because the dark was.......

Well, in plain words... it was scary to him.

But for some reason it didn't bother him when he was playing quidditch. It was just down on the ground.

On his own. With no broom to back him up and no one for him to protect, or someone to comfort him. Yes, Tone was very versatile. He could either be the one being comforted or could be the one comforting someone else. It all depended upon what his partner was like. Regardless, there was no point in just standing around and wondering how scary things would be inside the maze. Tone moved towards the entrance, only to see a stationary figure a short distance away from him. It was a girl, a pretty one too! But he didn't recognize her...

Not from his last visit to Hogwarts. That meant a new friend! Tone could feel the excitement start to build up inside him. She'd be his next new friend he decided, setting his eyes on her. Approaching Eun-ji, Tone smiled at her and quickly reached down to grasp her hand in his own. "Hey, pretty girl! Mind if I take you for a spin? Let's go!" He said and rushed forward into the maze, pulling Eun-ji along with him. As they entered the maze, Tone whirled them around in a circle. Literally taking her for a spin inside the maze.

Releasing her hand a moment later, Tone grinned at her.

"Sorry, you seemed as if you were hesitating about entering the maze before."

"I don't know what you're like or what your story is, but you came here for a reason. You shouldn't just leave without at least testing the waters, right?" Tone said with an arched brow. "I think it'll be a lot of fun if you give it a chance!" The duo-toned teen flashed her another bright smile. "You ready to go forward?" Tone asked as he stretched out a hand towards her, waiting to see if Eun-ji would take it. Regardless of Eun-ji's reaction, he wouldn't give up on her. She was his newest 'friend' target...

Another ball to attend. Honestly Hunter sighed, wondering what the hell he was doing at the entrance of the enchanted maze. This would have been the perfect time to have brewed some extra potions with minimal chance of being caught or better yet annoyed. Instead he was gonna have to spend the evening around loud, obnoxious, and annoying people. Then on top of that he was gonna have to spend it with someone he resented, yes resented. The boy cursed himself in thought of the things he shared with Beatrice that evening when she asked him to the ball. He was too relaxed, not cautious enough. He felt he spoke too much, shared too much, and at best had asked some of the worst questions possible during that time. He could already feel the headache as oncoming personal walked right on by into the maze.

Hunter on the other hand took out his pocket watch, watching the time pass by with each tick. Paying little to no mind of the people who walked past him. Counting the seconds, wondering how long such a night was going to last and how long was he going to have to endure such a potentially horrid night. His fears and paranoia were on a high, and his eyes darted a bit if some people got too close when passing by him. He most likely seemed very strange, despite his attire he also had a rather large and new satchel on him. His parents had owled him a new satchel, an enchanted one capable of fitting a trunks worth of items within it; much better than his previous one that he had attempted to fix after a certain someone had burned it. Yet why did he have this satchel on him? Well for potions obviously. No matter where the boy went, he keep a percentage of his potion and ingredients around him at all times. Ball or no ball, Hunter would always be seen with his satchel carrying whatever trickery, mischief, or saving potion for the oncoming night. As if he had some form of OCD, he opened up the bag and began to check various items within. Only one real item caught his eye if the night were to go south. A certain potion bound to create a dragon out of his short-tempered date were they to really get on his nerves. Then as their rage would turn into flames, he would walk off and leave to not have to endure such misery any longer.

After checking the contents once again, Hunter closed his satchel and reopened his watch. Waiting patiently, trying to appear calm as possible. Yet his eyes would certainly give away, that he was on the edge of possibly freaking out. A sort of agoraphobia that he didn't handle extremely well. All he could do was wonder why he felt such fear, when he hadn't his previous two balls. If anything he payed no mind, enjoyed himself, and even danced with... a special someone. That was probably the reason. His last two balls Hunter had gone with someone he actually had a crush on, someone who made his worries wash away and be able to think clearly. Yet now... he was stuck. Stuck with an infuriating person who merely asked to go with him to "keep an eye" on him. He spat at the idea in his head, this wasn't a date or anything. Just a warden trying to keep an eye on her worst prisoner... "Well, looking lovely during a lovely night doesn't make you a 1bonnie lass," came to Hunter's mind but he had to bite his tongue to not say it out loud. Closing his pocketwatch as the last second ticked, he finally saw his "date" (if you can even call her that) approaching. Hunter merely said to the girl as she approached, "Looking like a 1bonnie lass. Let's go, Ms.Warden." He chuckled, but deep down Hunter was in a really pissed off mood. He wish he hadn't accepted such an offer so quickly. What on Earth was he thinking back then?

Honestly, why had she even asked Hunter to this thing in the first place? It wasn't like she couldn't have gone by herself. She'd only set herself up for misery tonight going with Hunter. She supposed that she could have asked Monica, but Bea had found out she was meeting that boy, Hiro, for the Ball, and Bea had shied away from asking her. She'd come up with the idea of asking Hunter whilst lounging in her dorm last month. It wasn't that she liked Hunter, more the opposite in fact. She didn't trust her 'date' as far as she could throw him. What a laugh. Calling him her date. This wasn't going to be anything romantic. It was the prefect keeping an eye on the troublemaker. That was it. End of story.

Except, now everything had changed. Going home for Easter was supposed to be a homecoming. It had been a misery instead. Her Nan, the one person she was closest to, had died the night before her coming home, nothing any healer could do for her. She'd watched as her Nan was buried, the rose petals and dirt making a unique fragrance that somehow was still stuck in her throat.

She sighed at the memory, adjusting the crown atop her head. She'd braided her hair for the evening, and 'borrowed' some of her Nans, now her Ma's jewelled pins for the evening which shone like miniature emerald suns throughout her twisted hair. Ma and her had gone shopping her the funeral, and it had only been whilst perusing the shops in Diagon Alley that she had even remembered this stupid event anyway. Ma had insisted she still attend, and had gone out of her way making sure Bea had something extraordinary to wear. She'd opted for a medieval-style green and pink dress, along with her personal favourite- a cape. Maybe she'd be able to chuck it over Hunter and make an escape throughout the night.

As she arrived at the Grounds, she laughed at what was before her. A giant green maze stood before her. She could see a somewhat calm Hunter standing before the entrance, although as she stalked closer, his watch checking beahviour and people avoidance clearly gave away his thoughts about this whole night. He didn't want to be here anymore than her. Something settled inside of her then. Somehow for better or worse, they were stuck together. Her eyes narrowed at the look of a new satchel resting upon Hunter hip. Perhaps it was going to turn out for the worse? Again, the thought of asking this eccentric, potion-loving idiot who had caused her nothing but pain ran through her mind. But also, the recent memory of the afternoon by the Great Lake floated to the top of her mind. They'd called a truce right? Right? Surely they had, just for tonight. In the end, it didn't matter. She was a queen tonight, the most powerful piece on the board, and she would crush anyone who got in her way.

Straightening her shoulders, she reached Hunter and showered him with a sunny smile, the light maybe not perhaps reaching all the way to her eyes, but hoping to fool him anyway. She would win tonight. No mishaps for her. No misery, even if she still wanted to curl up into a ball and sob herself to sleep with her Nan's photograph smiling at her. Her eyes narrowed momentarily at Hunter, because even though he personified calm, his eyes did not. They looked like the eyes of someone who wanted to bolt and hole himself away for the rest of eternity. A bit of mirth entered her smile at the thought. Even more did when she heard his words, although she couldn't help the tinge of pink at his compliment. Stupid, stupid, stupid. He obviously didn't mean it, and his other sentence confirmed it. Willing the blush to disappear, she raised an eyebrow, holding her cape open and doing a twirl for him, the afternoon light glinting on her white crown. "Why, thank you Prisoner E8. Your flattery will get you nowhere though. I'll be keeping an eye on you." With that she let Hunter lead her into the maze, or perhaps the gallows...

As Rita was trying her best to find her way out of the enchanted maze, she spotted her ball friend Roro a short while after the black-haired Second Year Hufflepuff first-string beater entered the maze. Roro was wearing a pretty green dress with flowers on it, along with earings and blue high-heels. "It was be difficult walking in those high-heels, but we all know beauty comes with a price. I think I should give Roro a hand to help her walk in those high-heels." Rita thought before opening her mouth to speak.

"Hi, Roro! It`s OK, you are not very late! Yeah, let go deep into the maze and explore that so-called enchanted maze! By the way, I really like your green dress with flowers on it, it`s so pretty!" Rita turned to Roro with a friendly smile on her face and offered her housemate a hand to help her walk in those high-heels. Hopefully, they would find out the reason why this maze was called enchanted and find their way out of the maze to get into the main ball banquet very soon. "This is damn maze seems endless and I am just totally confused how to find a way out! Hopefully, with my ball friend Roro on my side, it will be a lot easier to get through this and enter the banquet very soon. Let me just try to find a way out this maze and we`ll see how this will turn out to be!" The black-haired Second Year Hufflepuff beater thought as she took her younger Housemate Roro`s hand and try her best to explore the enchanted maze and try to find a way out of that maze.

Ava walked with her, Duvessa being slightly crestfallen that they couldn't spend a night together. She wondered if Nico would even show up, because in the scores and hundreds of people there was no one to be seen that resembled the dark haired figure. He couldn't have done it. No, he would come. Totally. Why not?

She bit her lip. People were starting to go in now.
"Who is taking you?” Ava asked Duvessa as she stared mournfully into the crowd,
"Nico. Nico Cirillo." She replied, and then after a couple of moments "Well, he didn't seem to want to show himself today to me." She looked in the distance. She really was making her friend wait all that time when she could have just gone in. But time was running, and any boyfriend would soon find out that Duvessa hated waiting. Of any kind.

After yet more cheerful couples went in, she looked at Ava.
"Should we go in?" She asked, waiting for her opinion. It was not the way she planned to spend the evening at all. Why, where on earth was he?

She gentle winded her black hair around her finger and twirled it for several seconds. Where was he? This was getting odder to the minute.

Spring Court. At least Evelynn could appreciate the theme of this year's spring ball. There was a certain irony there-in, however. Fantasy had always been associated with magic and elves and fantastical beasts. It was something contained only within the imagination. She had spent many an hour immersed in the setting in books and tabletops with her mother. Greatly entertained by the thoughts of court and adventurous heroism, she had, on more than one occasion, taken Cassie to hack through the forested brush near their property allowing thoughts to wander. And then she'd started at Hogwarts and suddenly high fantasy wasn't so fantastical. This ball... it almost felt as though they were all playing a double part, stepping away from reality so that they could return to that state of pretend all over again.

As she meandered towards the sound of revelry and excitement for which she was certain she was not prepared, Evelynn's gaze trailed smoothly over the details of the decor. Gloved fingers reached to pluck petals from the air as they twirled and danced around her before being carried off elsewhere on an breeze that wasn't quite there. She could hear the birds chirping, inviting her forwards and the fragrant smell of flowers. With the green hedges approaching at the other end of the wandering road, she couldn't help but transport herself back to the Midspring Festival. There had been a hedge there as well, and the initial grounds had greeted them with wild flowers and intoxicating aromas much like it promised to do again.

Only this time, she was alone, and the only trials she would be participating in would be to test her endurance on how long she could stomach being there.

Shoulders rose and fell with a prolonged and steadying breath as she crossed the threshold into the hedge maze and turned to the left. Her steps were unhurried, she gaze half lidded almost as though she was already bored and considering a retreat. She wasn't exactly sure what had prompted her to make an appearance. Much as she had in the past, eyes had rolled and she had made herself scarce whenever the conversation around her had shifted too strongly to discussion about the upcoming event. Nobody—not even Ivy—would have been able to convince her to change her mind about staying as far away as possible. The last thing she needed was a fresh wave of voices and visions, especially after having recently enjoyed the silence of the castle while just about everyone else had returned home for the holidays.

That afternoon, however, she had been overcome by an overwhelming urge to make her way to the grounds. Something in her gut told her that she needed to be there. For what, exactly, she wasn't sure; but she suspected she would figure it out, sooner or later. And if not... at least there would be one person in attendance with more concern about ensuring everyone else stayed safe and out of trouble and able to enjoy themselves even if she did not.

Not that she thought much of that as she continued further into the maze. Signs and messages would be ignored in favour of enchanting bushes and exotic flowers, fingers brushing themselves along the leaves and rubbing petals between pads of fingertips in passing. She'd long ago stopped paying attention to which directions she had turned at whatever intersections had presented themselves to her. Lost in thought and enjoying the tranquility—however temporary it might be—of the maze, she allowed her feet to carry themselves along a path only they seemed to know. Only when she found her way barred would she look up to see who—or what—had halted her momentum.

" Hii Lloyd! Yep, but you can call me any nickname." She smiled at him, " Are you waiting for someone?" Maybe he can come with me! To...the Spring Ball. That would certainly be easy!

She heard someone approaching. He called out her name; it was Mat. She felt herself going slightly pink, but it went unnoticed thankfully.
"Mat, hi!" Then Mat addressed Lloyd rather hesitantly, "What a pleasant surprise to see you both here. Well- you, Lloyd." Angelique remembered their in detail discussions with Mat so she was pretty obviously going to see him. And Lloyd had come too - that was nice to catch up with him too. But then a most familiar voice called out to her.
"Who are you going with, Mat?" She asked curiously, before yet another, this time more gentle voice called out. Roksana.
"Hey Roksi!" She called back, as the young girl appraoched. She said it back in Russian. "Thank you." She replied to the compliment, "You look awesome too!" Roksana looked around the grounds, and asked
"So..do you want to do the maze together? 'Cause if you don't that's fine." Angelique didn't hesitate,
"I'd love you to come. You're my bestie, " She smiled, and also responded in Russian, much to the confusion to the boys.

One thing most people knew about Logan was that she was not a fan of social events, never was and never will be. Yet every year she put herself through hell and forced herself to attend every official ball that was held at the wizarding school. She told herself that this year was going to be different though, she was not going to be a grouch during the ball and was actually going to enjoy it whether she liked it or not.

To hopefully push herself a little bit she had asked her aunt to design and sew her a dress, Sherlock even getting a matching little suit. Logan honestly thought the dress was beautiful, flowy but not a full dress so she was able to easily move around if needed. There was even a small pocket sewed into the skirt specifically for her wand. Since she did not really plan on dancing, she was wearing a pair of brown boots, the heals clicking when they hit rocks.
Logan knew she was going to need to look for people to hang out with early on as she made her way into the maze towards the festival grounds. Sadly she was not going to be able to spend the whole time with Elsian but maybe she would be able to find someone else she knew, like Aaron or one of the prefects. Shaking her head with a sigh the Hufflepuff looked down at the cat trotting along at her side. Yes, she was going to enjoy herself whether she liked it or not.

Oh, Clucky, surely he must know how much I really love him.~ Maid Marian (Disney Version)
Clair and Colin were going to the ball together, this would be the first time officially. She hoped that the ball would turn out better than last time had, with Colin's cousin almost dying.
This time Clair was going as Maid Marian from Robin Hood, it did not fit perfectly with the ball's Theme but Clair had figured that it worked pretty well because Robin Hood (depending on who you asked) was based during the time of King Richard which was during the middle ages, so therefore by a long route it fit with the theme. Her outfit was made with green gloves that went up to her elbows, and a green cloak that covered the rest of her arms and had a hood, under the cloak she had put on a lighter green dress, it was nothing too pretty, just like she had wanted, it did have a bit of lace on it but you barely saw it. under her dress she was wearing black tights, but they were hidden under her dress. Her feet had a pair of knee high old riding boots which worked for the time period. Clair's hair was mostly down, with a bit of it braided and twisted into a pretty almost pony tail. A small Headband came around the front of her hair to keep it back and around her neck sat the necklace that Colin had given her, it was tucked partially under her collar on her dress.

Clair stood waiting for Colin so they could enter together, she was excited to see what his outfit looked like.

Initially, Ye-jun was very much looking forward to his next Hogwarts visit. He was always happy to see his cousin and he was hoping to talk to Lucia...and well...perhaps a certain cheeky Slytherin boy too. Alas, it appeared that everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong.

Lucia and his cousin currently weren't talking and besides the fact that it was all her fault, Eun-ji had refused to share any further details. “She probably hates me now so don't mention my name when you talk to her in the future.” This put him in a rather awkward position. While he wasn't prohibited to speak with the Hufflepuff and had no intention of stopping doing so himself, there would no doubt be an underlying tension between them now. It was also his duty to avoid meeting both girls at the same time, which was really stressing him out. Aaand as if that wasn't enough, Flash suddenly decided to disappear and left Eun-ji feeling miserable. Miserable enough for her not to go to the ball this year. “Are you sure you don't want to go? Then should I stay? We could do something else.” As expected however, the Ravenclaw didn't agree to his offer. She liked suffering alone and Ye-jun hated that but there was little he could do about it. He too considered not attending the ball but then again...after travelling so far, it wouldn't make sense to just sit this one out. Especially since he had nobody to hang out with anyway.

That being said, he didn't have anyone to hang out with for the ball either. After learning about Flash's sudden disappearance, Ye-jun hoped his cousin would accompany him to the event but that plan fell through and now it was far too late to look for somebody else. Not that he was particularly eager to do so. Whatever, let's just try to have fun. The boy huffed, fixing his black and red suit. He was representing the royalty today because of course he was. The wizard was not too happy about it if he was being honest. He really tried to find something original for this one but ended up failing miserably. Perhaps next time then.

All in all, things weren't looking so great. That is, until he finally reached the grounds and spotted a familiar face in the crowd. Oh... A glimmer of hope flashed across his face as he watched Jack Burnett juggling with three torches. Ye-jun couldn't say he was surprised. Somehow this skill seemed to fit the boy perfectly, he was almost surprised that they weren’t lit. The Beauxbatons student approached carefully and waited for a moment when it would be safe to interrupt. He clapped quietly in order not to draw too much attention to himself. “Well hello stranger.” The wizard said with a smile. He was relly happy to see him. “Alone or waiting for a date?”
