April Fools at Hogwarts
Errand information may be found here.
Outside the castle, the weather warming significantly, the telltale signs of April were beginning to take full effect. April showers, spring air, and the beautiful breathing quality characteristic of a day mid-spring had begun to grace the students of Hogwarts. Inside, however, two professors stood at the end of one of the long dining tables in the Great Hall. Brinley Bardot, with her striking platinum hair and rather short stature, was one of the two. She was joined on the left by Sabine Blumenthal, with her tightly coiled hair and gaudy fabric flowers adorning her shoulders. As students arrived, Brinley would greet them--"Welcome, students, to our seminar on safe pranking!"April 1, 2023.
Laid out on the table were countless sheets of paper, different patterns and colors and cuts. Alongside them were metal containers with different colored quills.
"First and foremost, while we take you through some safety guidelines, you should grab a sheet of paper and a quill. Professor Bardot and I expect a little journal on your best prank ideas once we're all through with this," Sabine raised her brows, "Perhaps we'll get some ideas of our own."
On the next table over were wooden bowls filled with whipped topping and little pie tins, alongside tiny fake spiders, strings, and containers of glitter.
"We have a few things you can use to create your own pranks, but we encourage you to get creative!"
Sabine nodded in agreement with her coworker. "Before you amateur pranksters get too into it, there are some things to note. Pranks should never, ever, ever be permanently harmful to others in any way, nor should they be done to humiliate others."
Brinley crossed her arms over her chest, though her calm and soft demeanor didn't drop. It was certainly known among the student body that Professor Brinley Bardot was the slowest to get angry. "We're all here to have some good, clean fun. Make sure that your pranks aren't dangerous for yourself or for others."
With those little things out of the way, the Divination professor grinned and clapped her hands above her head. "Without further adieu, let's get to pranking!"

April Fools at Hogwarts
With March fading away and April coming in the way, the spring had already stepped its footprint on the Scottish Highlands, with pretty flowers of various colors and trees and grass with a shade of green covering Hogwarts, as well as the little sunshine, cool breeze, and occasional showers, Spring was definitely one of Rita`s favorite seasons, right after Autumn. And with April coming in the way, it only meant one thing, it was April Fool's Day! The new Care of Magical Creatures professor, Ms. Blumenthal, whom Rita remembered from attending the dance party organized by Papa Badger Caradoc as well as the unicorn patting opportunity, had kindly organized another interesting errand in the great hall together with the Divination professor Ms. Bardot, that was of course, April Fool's Day themed. The two professors asked students to come up with their most creative prank ideas and wrote a little prank journal. Actually, the black-haired Second Year Hufflepuff beater would not regard herself as some sorts of a Prankster, but it was April Fool`s Day! A day for pranks! "Writing a prank journal is definitely an interesting idea! I wonder if we get to play the pranks on our friends some time afterwards. I already had an idea for a prank, so let me quickly arrive at Great Hall, and begin my prank journal!" Rita thought before quickly getting out of the Hufflepuff common room and walking towards the great hall.
Maybe it was because she was too excited for doing this activity on the April Fool`s Day, Rita found out her was actually the first person to arrive at the meeting. Anyway, since the black-haired Hufflepuff first-string beater already had an idea for an interesting prank, without further thinking, she grabbed a quill and a parchment, and began to write out her prank journal. And this was what the Second Year Hufflepuff first-string beater with short straight black hair and yellow glasses wrote:When Rita finished writing that little prank journal, she handed it to Ms. Blumenthal and said to the young and pretty brown-skinned Care of Magical Creatures professor, "Hi, Ms. Blumenthal! Here is my idea for an interesting prank written as a little journal and thank you and Ms. Bardot for coming up with this interesting idea and organizing this intriguing errand! Hope to see some other interesting errands organized by you in the future!" Rita then returned to her seat around the Hufflepuff table, and waited for someone else to come and meet up with her for some fascinating small talk. Hopefully, she would discover who would be the first April Fool in Hogwarts very soon.Dear Ms. Blumenthal,
Actually, my idea for an interesting prank is to secretly change one of my friend`s goblet of ink to a disappearing ink bought in the quill shop in Hogsmeade. Please don`t blame me for sneaking into Hogsmeade and not getting caught, the temptation to sneak in is just too strong for me to resist. Anyway, I can change that ink to a disappearing ink and when that friend grabs that ink and begins to do homework, they will find out all of the stuff they write will disappear, ha-ha! Interesting prank, isn`t it?
Yours sincerely,
Rita Su

Cassie loves to play pranks! She is a member of the Mischief Makers Club. The April Fool's Day is always one of Cassie's favourite festivals. She arrives early at the meeting, but realizes that she is not the first. Another girl is already there. She seems like a Hufflepuff, someone Cassie has met before. Oh! Cassie walks to the girl and says, 'Hi Rita! It's me, Cassie! You're coming so early! What's your idea for pranks? Oh, I see you wrote a letter... I will write one too!'
Cassie pulls out a piece of parchment and starts to write...
'I'm finished, I suggested a fun prank on my friend.' Cassie starts to walk around the great hall. It's decorated with pink flowers in all kinds of pink. They are pretty indeed. She thought it was Valentines Day again. The hall is big and bright, a cozy place to stay in.
Very soon, other students will come in, and they will discuss about pranks they can play. Luckily, Cassie has remembered to bring parchment and a quill--she's going to take them down. Maybe she can use them in the Mischief Makers' Club activities. Her father was good at making pranks when he was at Hogwarts. He told her that once, he was nearly caught, but he played a prank on the prefect and ran away as quickly as he could, and escaped.
Now, time to hand in her letter. She hopes professor Blumenthal will like her idea. After all, Cassie likes the feeling of being praised. Who don't?
She walks to the professor and says, 'Hello, professor Blumenthal. I wrote my idea in a piece of parchment. Perhaps you can read it. I believe you will like it. I can't wait to play it on my friend!' She hands it in and turns back, well, now time for some chatting with her friend Rita!

She folds the paper and puts it in a well designed envelope.Dear Professor Blumenthal,
My idea for safe pranks is that I will ask some friends to help me to play a prank on another friend. We'll pretend that when he dips ink on his school robe, we can't see him, he turns invisible. When he believes that he is invisible, we'll see what he will do. Steal a quill? Copy homework? Sneak into the restrictions Section?
It must be fun, right?
Sincerely,

Soon after Rita handed in her finished prank idea journal and returned to seat down around the Hufflepuff table, waiting for someone else to come and have a chat, she heard an familiar voice calling her name. The black-haired Hufflepuff first-string beater turned around and found out it was Cassie, the blond-haired first year Ravenclaw girl who was a part of their little CREM team consist of 4 girls from each of the 4 houses. "I'm glad the first person that walks into the room after me is someone I am familiar with and even walked up to me to say hi! I believe soon there will be more people walking into the room very soon! I know a lot of people would like the idea of a little prank on April Fool's Day!" Rita thought before opening her mouth to speak.
"Hi, Cassie! Fancy seeing you again! How are you doing today and happy April Fool's Day!" Rita waved to Cassie with a bright smile on her face, "My prank idea is to secretly change one of my friends goblet of ink to the disappearing ink brought in the quill shop in Hogsmeade! That why all the stuff they wrote will disappear! It must be a very interesting prank to play on friends! What do you think of that and what is your prank idea? Would you mind sharing it?" After Rita finished her speech, the black-haired second year Hufflepuff first-string beater took some time to appreciate the great hall covered in pretty shades of pink due to the spring flowers while waiting for Cassie to respond.

Avery's Speech
· || ──────────────────────────────────── || ·
┏ ┓-----A very Leveret was not the kind of boy to overtly get into trouble. That is to say, he was not the kind of boy to get caught when conducting his trouble-making. He was meticulous with most things, due to how he was raised to be, and that included the planning of pranks. It would take him months to properly conduct a prank of his, and often it was for something that would cause him to gain something, or some kind of advantage. He and his brothers had pranked each other when they were younger, and continued to do so when possible, but part of Avery wanted to explore that side of himself in the setting of Hogwarts.
There was one idea he had been mulling, for one reason or another, and this appeared like an opportunity to suss out other pranksters; to see how serious they would be and potentially collect a number of allies. It also served to see how the Professors considered pranking, and supposedly the ‘safety’ of such. He thought that was a load of unicorn snot, but perhaps he could get an idea of what kind of severity they expect or are used to, or perhaps some insight into how pranksters could be punished for their varying degree of pranks.
It was also April Fool’s Day, a muggle holiday of some sort. Avery didn’t particularly like their strange customs, but many of the students were alive with brewing courage and daring chaos; and that was almost infectious. With his dark, steely eyes, he glanced around the great hall to look for any familiar faces; flashing anyone he recognised a mischievous, and somewhat aloof smile.
When it came to writing his prank, he ensured he kept it to himself, shielding the small submission slip with the hand that wasn’t holding his short black quill. He would keep it anonymous, so as to not notify the Professors that they should be keeping an eye on him; as that would certainly be shooting himself in the foot.┗ ┛
"Pranking people potentially postulates the existence, perhaps, of pre-meditation and preparation, precision of execution and proximity to preferred persons, in order to penetrate precious, pre-existing pleasures and provoking perfect pandemonium.
In that spirit, and harmlessly poised, my prank would incite some kind of worry. A letter enchanted to appear as a though it had come from the Ministry to a particularly gullible professor, announcing a sudden and unexpected inspection would surely turn heads, as they scrambled to ‘right’ the many wrongs of the school. Let us not forget the near-knifing in Slytherin…
This is harmless, and would only serve to safely improve school standards."
┏ ┓He was pleased with what he had written, especially as it was a perfectly reasonable prank in his mind, and no one seemed to be ‘worse’ off for it, Professors involved could be a little more stressed but he figured that was their job, and the student’s safety was paramount. What he had written was not the prank he was thinking of conducting, but it did cover a subject he had been thinking of for a while, especially with the news that Winchect was coming back to school this month...
When the Professors’ table was swarmed with other students, he did his best to approach stealthily and sneak his submission onto the desk, between others so as to continue to increase his chances of ‘flying under the radar’ as the muggles would say.┗ ┛

Duvessa was a trickster at nature; but only her close friends actually knew that side of her. The rest thought that she was intimidating, scary and perhaps rather arrogant. If you do want to know if any of it is true, then anyone should perhaps approach her....
She greeted the Professors with a tight smile and began writing in her neat, cursive writing, it said:
"Hey Cas, Rita." She nodded to them, knowing Cassie Jiang from a tour that she gave around the castle as well as meeting her accidentally before Hogwarts even began for her. Not that they really kept in touch after that.... And Rita was from the Pet Society, so she knew that Rita was one of the members, anyway.
She also spotted another fellow Slytherin, finally!
"Hey Leveret." She smirked and walked away after greeting him. It was time to go spend some some time with Bouncy, for she hated to think of how sulky she would be if Duvessa didn't pay just the right amount of attention on her. Honestly, she was quite a handful! But that was exactly why Duvessa liked her.

I do have an idea for a prank; and to me it sounds quite fun. Oh, and definately harmless. In fact, it's the world (probably) most harmless prank (and that's with my sisters baby pranks of stealing my quill).
So, the prank is quite simple. You go (preferebly to a boys dorm, 'cuz they are the annoying ones usually) and then take out their stuff from their draw and hide it, maybe under the bed? Instead, fill the whole tray with popcorn or unrapped sweets! Watch their face when they come storming to you when they can't find their bedtime book to read. A funny prank, and quite yummy too! Some other substetutions can be Every Flavored Beans (a mixture of all flavors), some sort of cereal - although to me popcorn is the idea choice.
It would be fun to put it into action, and I would gladly hear your response! Thank you for reading!
With lot's of mischief,
Your Student

April Fools at Hogwarts

date: 4/1/23 | place: Great Hall | #ba9826= Aurora(English) | Thoughts= Italics
I walked into the Great Hall and was immediately dazzled by the beautiful decorations of pink. It looked like a real Springfest. It was also April 1st, the best day of the year, and for a good reason. It was April Fool's Day. However, I still loved Spring, even though pollen and seasonal allergies made it torment for me. I was wearing a pink flower in my nearly-brown hair to celebrate Spring and the coming of April, and it was also a good day for April Fools.
After arriving in the pink-draped Great Hall, I saw only 4 people there: the CoMC teacher, I was sure, and of course, Rita. I don't know if she's ever missed an errand. "Hi Rita!" I said cheerfully, walking over to her. "Have you already wrote down your prank?" I asked, getting my journal and a pen out from my enchanted satchel. I clicked the pen in thought about what to write.
The first I thought about was Zonko's Joke Shop. There was a whole collection of stuff there, Prank Cakes, Dream Pantaloons, Nose-Biting Teacups...No, those won't do, I thought. I wouldn't want to hurt or humiliate anybody, I'll save that for later...oh! I had an excellent idea! There was a piece of prank jewelry at Zonko's Joke Shop that seemed cool for a prank. It was called a Much Mustachio Ring. That gave me a great idea...
Dear Professor Blumenthal,
I have a great idea for a prank. I've considered it for a minute, and it is quite harmless I'm sure, but I've found inspiration in Zonko's Joke Shop. I'm going to get everything I need from there(I know I'm not supposed to go to Hogsmeade, but I love to do it, please don't give me detention!). I've decided that first, I'll make a solo mission to Hogsmeade, pretend I'm a 3rd year with nothing better to do than waltz around the place(which I cannot do), go to Zoko's Joke Shop, and buy a Much Mustachio Ring. I could gift it to a good friend of mine, tell them to put the ring on any finger and watch as they sprout a mustache. I'd be laughing, of course, simply because I wouldn't be able to help myself, but try to get myself under control. and I'd have a hand mirror on cue. To see their face in the mirror will be one to cherish for a long time. Of course, they'd go back to normal upon taking it off. I had another idea for a prank, but I think that one is good enough for today.
Signed, Aurora T. Griffith, 1st year Hufflepuff
I signed off my letter with a flourish and submitted it in the proper area. This was gonna be fun. I had also wanted to do something else involving a vomit-flavoured Every Flavour Bean, but one was good enough. Sucking on the end of my pen, I double-checked my letter to see if it needed anything else, but it looked quite fine to me. I was truly excited to see how the day would play out, and I made a mental note to myself to get a pair of dream pantaloons for my brother as a gift...

April Fools at Hogwarts
┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓
Selena was no beginner at pranking. She would consider herself something of an expert if she was being modest. After all, she was the mastermind behind the great prank sequence of summer 2019. It was one of her finer works in her opinion.
Her grandmother had been planning a dinner party for over a month and Selena couldn't hear the end of it. She had been whisked to countless delicatessens looking for ingredients, antique stores for the tablecloth and decorations, and stationary stores for invitations. It was a terribly boring experience for the rambunctious seven year old. (Just the thought of it still made her groan today, at age eleven.)
The first prank occurred when her Nana made the mistake of leaving the invitations out on the coffee table while she ran an errand to the corner store. Upon young Selena's inspection, she found the envelopes filled but not yet sealed. This was perfect. Using her very best handwriting, the 7 year old crossed out the word "dinner" and replaced it with "toad." Why toad? She couldn't remember now but it was what she had chosen then. Before her grandmother got back, all of the ten invitations had been changed and Selena was seated at the piano innocently messing around. Her grandmother stuck the seals on and they were ready to be sent off.
The schemes didn't end there, though. It wasn't enough to confuse the guest. Selena had to make sure that the party was actually a toad party. She decided first on signs. She took some pieces of paper out of her desk and got to work. Soon enough, the signs were covered in glitter glue and stickers. Each one had a different fun fact about frogs on it. She folded them up and placed them artfully in locations she knew Nana would never check but the guests would.
Her piece de resistance didn't occur until dessert. Earlier that morning, Selena had gotten up bright and early before her Nana had stirred. She made herself presentable and pulled on her rain boots. She tried to minimize the disturbance of the clomping sounds to the best of her ability. Evidently, Selena was quiet enough because soon enough she was standing in the garden and there were no signs of Nana. Selena got to work in the mud, flipping over rocks and peeking behind plants. She found him soon enough. He was perfect. A large, 12 centimeter long, bumpy common toad. It took both arms to pick him up but he was compliant enough. She set him in her closet and gave him a nice fake pond (otherwise known as a bowl of water) to sit in until it was his time to shine.
Selena knew that her grandmother was going to have her present the cake. It always happened. Just before it was time for dessert. Selena excused herself claiming that she needed to use the bathroom desperately. Her grandmother allowed her under the premise that it would be quick so she ran off. Instead of actually going to the bathroom, she snuck into her bedroom, and took the toad from his hiding spot. Thankfully, he was still there and seemingly happy. She scooped him up and brought him down to the kitchen where the cake was hidden under a golden serving tray. She could see her grandmother, comfortably distracted, through doorway. It only took one second for her to whirl around though so Selena removed the centerpiece from the cake and replaced it with the toad. It looked glorious. She set the top back on the tray and walked as daintily as she could to the dining room.
"Look everyone. Selena brought the cake. How lovely," her Nana addressed the room. Her smirk of pride peeked through her polite smile. Not everyone's granddaughter could do that. Now, Paulette would surely invite her to a dinner party of her own to show off little Emily's skills and would serve her famous chicken casserole recipe that she so wanted the recipe for.
Within the second, the smug smile was wiped directly off her face and the guests (the 4 remaining ones who were willing to come after the invite mishap) gazed in horror at the slightly-mud-covered amphibian sitting on top of the beautifully frosted Victoria sponge cake. The glare in Nana's eyes was vicious yet she kept on a falsified smile of calmness as she apologized profusely to the guests. Meanwhile, Selena took the chance to escape, running down the hallway as fast as possible. If her grandmother couldn't catch her, she couldn't possibly be in trouble, right?
The corners of Selena's lips twitched upwards at the memory. The look of horror on the faces of the ladies who walked with their noses perpetually in the air and their grumpy husbands was worth having to spend a nice summer day indoors writing letters to each one of them explaining how her actions were terribly wrong and she would never do anything like that again. (She absolutely would if she got to see that reaction over again.)
April Fools Day was Selena's ideal holiday. There were no dresses with scratchy lace collars, or adult visitors, or boring dinners to sit through. It was all about making messes and having fun. Hogwarts also seemed to be about making messes and having fun (and, well, learning too but that was beside the point.) Therefore, the combination of the two would make for the perfect April Fools extravaganza.
The first year could feel the energy of excitement rushing through her as she entered the Great Hall. She rushed over and took a seat at the first of the two long tables. Her eyes scanned the materials for a few seconds before ideas started to form. Perhaps she could make a boobie trap pie with a switch mechanism to catapult it into someone's face if they were to take it. A trail of glitter that lead nowhere? That wasn't good enough. She landed on a container of plastic spiders. Those would be perfect! She could make a spider pie with whipped cream on the top and spiders underneath instead of crust. Then, she would leave it in the library and, then when some diligent, hungry student comes along, they would get pranked!
Selena was literally a genius for this. She grabbed a piece of paper and began to write. Her wrist hurt as she finished the letter within a few seconds of starting.
Selena signed her full name at the bottom. It made her feel more evil-genius-like. set her quill down and looked up. Had she tuned out the entire safety speech? Oh well. She could probably guess what had been said in it anyway (and it was probably unimportant.) Now it was evil genius work time!Dear Professor Blumenthal,
My pranking scheme is to make a unique kind of pie: a spider flavored pie. I will fill a pie tin with whipped creme and then submerge a handful of (plastic) spiders in. This will then be installed in the library for an unsuspecting student to consume.
Malificently,
Selena Alice Barlowe

April Fools at Hogwarts
Right after saying hi to @Cassie Jiang, Rita noticed a few more familiar faces arriving at great hall and a few more familiar voices talking to her. It was the Slytherin girl with a rat named Bouncy the black-haired Hufflepuff beater remembered meeting in the pet club meeting earlier that year in January, @Duvessa Ember, and one of her closest friends who had agreed to go to the spring ball with later that month on Apr 21st, @Aurora Griffith. The two girls had also recognized the black-haired Hufflepuff first-string beater and has walked up to her for a greeting.
"Hi, Duvessa and Roro! Fancy seeing you again and happy April Fool`s Day! What have you girls written down on your little prank journal and who do you think will be the first April Fool today? By the way, your shoelaces are untied!" Rita waved to the two girl and teased them a little bit, "My idea for a prank will be to secretly change one of my friends` goblet of ink to a disappearing ink bought in the quill shop in Hogsmeade, and they will be surprised to find out all they have written after that change is gone now! What do you think of that? Brilliant idea, isn`t it?" She casually shared her prank idea to the two girls and waited for them to respond. Soon, more people would arrive at the great hall for the prank errand and hopefully, Rita would find out who would be the first April Fool very soon! At least she hoped so! Now, she just returned to her seats and waited for more people to come!

April Fools at Hogwarts
Spring was by far Violet’s favorite season. With it symbolizing new beginnings after cold, hard days (though she DIDN’T hate winter, this is just symbolism!) spring meant warmer and brighter weather, flowers blooming into life again, like a reminder that life was like a circle and everything would be OK again..Vee liked that weather was warmer so she could go outside, to nature, and not be freezing!
She woke up feeling good today. She had entered the Great Hall and sat on the Slytherin table and was greeted by a new errand! Honestly, Vee almost forgot that it was april fools day, that was because she wasn’t exactly a big fan of pranks..at least towards those which would be planned towards her. But the idea of pranking someone else sounded like real fun this time, especially since today was april fools day, she wouldn’t wanna miss this chance!
She listened to the two professors at the end of the one of the four house tables talking to all the students about how it was a day for pranks and what it meant to make fun pranks. Violet wondered what type of pranks they did in their school and education years.. After that, they told everyone to think of a prank idea and write it in a little journal and give it to one of them.
Violet tried to think of a brilliant fun prank idea and some other students already gave their little journal notes away. Vee was kind of a perfectionist to think of a really good idea so she just sat there thinking with a quill in her hand for a while. Finally, her mind came up with an idea that sounded satisfying! However that idea included an object she didn’t personally have but definitely knew about. She didn’t think she’d be able to perform the prank but at least it was an idea..and who knows? She might perform it on some poor and fool soul someday!
She started writing her idea..
The young Slytherin girl stopped writing and smiled to herself in approval. Then she got up and handed the prank idea to Professor Blumenthal, and said that she hoped she would like it and walked back towards the Slytherin table.Dear Professor Blumenthal
My prank idea includes, first of all having an invisibility cloak and then choosing some unlucky person. I would wear the invisibility cloak without being noticed and then I would whisper something in the person’s ear, perhaps some scary or eerie thing, it could be anything!
I think it is a good & fun idea, don’t you think so?
Mischievously and sincerely
Violet Grace
