CL BROOM RACING - RAVENCLAW vs SLYTHERIN - WINTER 2023

After being launched by Clair, Hunter was far ahead but as he had told Bloom he didn't care much for being apart of the winning circle. If anything he was itching for a bit of payback to the snakes for what they had done. He swiftly turned around, taking out his wand looking for a target. His eyes landed on Colin who was far behind, and a bit of doubt overcame the boy as to whether his wand would listen or if he would even be able to land the attack. As he looked around a bit more, his eyes noticed Bubba and Beatrice Langstreth in the stands. A bit of confidence came to the boy, having to remember the malice to conjure the perfect spell. The memory of Bubba being tricked, and Beatrice face being covered in snot were the reminders he needed to feel the right tune of hatred to cast back at the snakes.

Focusing back on Colin, Hunter came to an immediate stop losing the lead he gained just to get back at them. As he saw Colin get attacked by the Cockatrice, seared across his body, Hunter smiled: "Once more; Flipendo!" Successfully casting and even landing on his target to send him back through the challenge of such a deadly beast.

There seemed to not be a response from her teammate about being in the winning circle. Bloom shrugged to herself, and focused on the race at hand. She looked forward and knew that while she was close to the end, she was still far away. Who knew what would be ahead of her, and she had to think quickly. Bloom, feeling a bit slower than usual, leaned forward and tried to speed up.

Bubba gave a loud and joyful whoop as his team continued to power toward the finish line. The race was going well overall but he was worried about Harper. It just looked like she'd taken a lot of hits and he wasn't sure how much longer she'd stay on her feet. Still, she was strong, she'd be fine. And all that matters was bringing home the Ravenclaw win.

Ari kept his eyes forward and his grip tight on his broom, only ever looking around to possibly catch sight of his teammates. The Slytherin racers managed to stay behind save for one, but Ari wasn't worried. He was in too much pain to worry anyway. This race would be over soon, and there was no time to worry this far into the chase.

There was no more time for floating around. Wyatt was off. He'd gotten a little ahead in the race, but big-picture-wise, the Basilisks were pretty far behind the Ravenclaws. If only the team had a real basilisk... it would be a lot easier to win a race if the opposing team was petrified, no?

June didn't care what anyone said, slow and steady did not win races. But as her wet racing uniform clung to her skin and her teeth chattered in the cold, slow in steady was all June could do. Other than hurl another rock at a Ravenclaw racer, but that was practically second nature to her by now.

They had gotten off to a slow start, but things seemed to be slowly going into their favour now. Sometimes going fast straight out of the fences was a bad choice, hopefully that was the case for this race as they carried on their slow but steady progress going forwards. They were far from losing this just yet, this was only the beginning.

----Vale feels a little slower than usual. Maybe it's just the adrenaline wearing off. No, she's pretty sure she's moving slower than usual. Do brooms get tired? Was Vale getting too heavy for a broom to carry? Aren't you supposed to be lighter after taking a (unscheduled) bath? Whatever it was, Vale was certain she was going very slow on a broom that's supposed to be very fast.

Colin literally had no chance to react as that potion addled cousin of Vale's turned and shot a knock back jinx at him! Colin flew straight into it! And with a terrible slamming kick to his chest, he and his broom were thrown back quite a way! Colin just about hung onto his broom, his bare feet hooked around the broom's stirrups!

As he gained control again and righted himself, he could just about see Hunter's messy hair off in the distance. Colin narrowed his eyes. That was one Ravenclown that would feel the viper's bite soon enough!
