Despite being a Quidditch player, a first-string beater, the recent winter dueling matches early this year had really attracted Rita to dueling and the Second Year Hufflepuff beater with short straight black hair and a pair of yellow now just could not wait to grasp her wands and try her hand at practicing some dueling spells. Therefore, on that particular Wednesday afternoon, when the class was over, the black-haired Hufflepuff first-string beater decided to go to the dueling club and practice some spells she learned in class there, not only for fun, but also for strengthening her stills with the wands to prevent embarrassing herself during the lessons, especially charms.

"Dueling really seems like a fascinating spell, although I don`t like when the duelists in the opposing team are picking on the duelists in our team, I really find spectating the effects of those dueling spells, such as the wind spell and the fire-making spell, to be extremely fascinating! I don`t want to quit the Quidditch team, but some spell practice is thrilling enough for me! As long as I can find someone to practice those dueling spells with!" Rita thought when the black-haired Second Year Hufflepuff rushed to the dueling club while holding her wand tightly. Now, she would just wait for someone else to come to the dueling club and practice spells with her together.

"Maybe we can even have an unofficial one-to-one duel if the other person agrees to do so! That must be very interesting! And I suppose an unofficial duel won`t hurt, at least not too much! Oh, I hope the other person would agree to do that, or at least someone would come to me, let`s see!" Rita thought when the black-haired Second Year Hufflepuff beater impatiently wait for someone else to come, obviously she just could not wait to try her hand at dueling, or at least some spells practice!

Twirling her wand in hand, the pear wood gleaming in the sunlight streaming through the corridors, Bea grinned. It would be a perfect afternoon to practice some spells. Stepping into the Duelling Club, Bea frowned when she realised she wasn't alone. It wasn't that she'd looked forward to practicing some spells by herself without a soul in sight but she had. She really really had.

Looking over the girl, a Hufflepuff by the looks of things, Bea swallowed her annoyance and nodded to the girl. A tight hello and nod to the girl and Bea turned to put her things down by the bleachers. She hadn't been back to her dorm after classes and still had most of the things for class still in her bag. The curly haired girl didn't particularly want to duel against another opponent, so instead of being more hospitable to the other girl, who looked like she wanted to do just that, duel, Bea turned to the training dummies. The duelling captains had recommended them to her when she had first joined the waitlist for the duelling team. A good way to practice they said. Raising her wand, she fired off the first spell that came to mind. "Incendio!"

Finally, a girl walked into the dueling club, seeming to be a Ravenclaw girl, with curly light-brown hair. Rita has seen that girl a few times around Hogwarts, even having a few classes together maybe, but the black-haired second Hufflepuff girl sadly did not remember the Ravenclaw girl`s name. Unfortunately, the other girl did not look very friendly towards the black-haired Hufflepuff first-string beater, as the curly-haired Ravenclaw girl just nodded slightly and turned to training dummies to cast a very common spell in dueling, Incendio. "Oh, it seems that she would rather practice her spells with the training dummies than practice the spells with me. Anyway, I suppose those training dummies are quite useful for spells practice, so let me do that as well." The Second Year Hufflepuff beater with short straight black hair and yellow glasses thought and also walked towards the training dummies.

"Oh, you wanna practice your spells using the training dummies? I think that`s a great way for some spells practice! Could I also join you to cast some spells at the dummies?" Rita finally find somewhere to stand beside the other Ravenclaw girl, "By the way, my name is Rita Su, if you don`t know, Second Year Hufflepuff, first-string beater. Now I must concentrate on the spells practice!" Not waiting for the other Ravenclaw girl to reply, Rita raised her wand and pointed to the dummies, preparing to cast another common spell for dueling and one of the second-year Hufflepuff beater`s favorite spells, Knockback jinx Flipendo.

"Now concentrate, you can do this." Rita murmured to herself as she tried her best to concentrate on casting the spell, focusing on the wand movement, and saying the incantation clearly, "Flipendo!"

Sorry for late post due to exams, and shall we do rolls to check if those spells are successful or not?

Bea really didn't know what had got into her this afternoon. Perhaps it was the tiredness from classes, or the draining effect of reading all the bad news from home, but either way chattiness was in short supply this afternoon.

She watched as the dummy in front of her lit up in an orange haze, wispy smoke coming off the top of head to curl around the top. It felt at that moment that the smoke had invaded her own head, tendrils curling inwards and making coherent thoughts sluggish. She sighed, turning to move towards her bag to get her water bottle. Taking a sip, she sighed before turning towards the other girl. "Sorry, it's been a hard day. Nice to meet you. I'm Beatrice. Beatrice Langstreth. Aspiring duellist."

She grabbed the water bottles lid and screwed it on tight before looking at Rita again, placing the bottle back in her bag. "What's a quidditch player coming to learn duelling spells for?" Her question was genuine, her tone one of curiousity not spite. Bea didn't follow broom sports much, and she honestly had no clue if spells were even used in quidditch. "If you want to practice, we could do so together?" Bea settled next to Rita and watched as the other girl flew a spell of her own at the dummies. Flipendo, one of her favourite duelling spells. She smiled in acknowledgement. Perhaps there was more to this beater than met the eye!

Well, the other Ravenclaw girl did seem to be a little upset and tired, as she took out her water bottle and took a sip, before sighing and turning to Rita to introduce herself as @Beatrice Langstreth, an aspiring duelist. "Hopefully she won`t mind me calling her Bea, since that`s a pretty common and quite adorable nickname for Beatrice!" Rita thought before opening her mouth to reply to the other girl with curly light-brown hair.

"Well, nice to meet you, Beatrice! And I suppose you don`t mind me calling you Bea?" The black-haired Second Year Huffleouff beater finally replied to the girl, "Well, I still love Quidditch, but it never hurts to take a break from the broom and try something new with the wand, right? By the way, I think a fair grasp of spells is quite important for everyone in the magic world, you know? There are so many dangerous things in this world, and I think we all need spells to protect ourselves from time to time, aren`t we?"

"Anyway, let me try something new! Now concentrate again!" Rita pointed her wand to the dummies to follow the wand movement and incantation collectly, "Wingardium Leviosa!"

"How`s that spell, Bea? I suppose that`s a fair spell!" Rita asked the other Ravenclaw girl beside her as she watched the training dummies being lifted up and floating in the air. She thought if was a successful spell, and hoped Bea would thought the same.

Bea shrugged at the other girl, nodding her ascent. "Sure! I don't mind. Most people call be Bea once they've met me." Her eyes drifted over Rita. She seemed quite confident, standing in the middle of the room. What she said made sense. People in their world needed to be confident with spells and spell-work. It was a critical part of being a witch or wizard. Bea demurred that it was probably a good thing having the duelling room for practice. Her reply to Rita was in agreeance. "I suppose you're right. We all need to learn how to properly cast spells. Are you allowed to cast spells in quidditch? It's not my favourite sport."

To be honest, any broom sport wasn't her favourite. Flying wasn't her favourite. She'd participated in unofficial broom race hosted by June Selwyn and done some flying practice after. It was what she'd call her only time to get on a broom. Being on the ground was much more preferable. It was one of the reasons she had picked duelling as her sport in the first place.

She watched as Rita fired off Wingardium Leviosa. The dummy flew up in the air, floating as the spell landed. Bea laughed as the spell wore off and came crashing to the ground. "What a good spell! Wish I could use that on someone I know!" She'd thought about it, and had heard of so many people being dunked in the lake with it, but Bea herself had never had the instance to use it. She cocked her head to the side, regarding what spell she should use next. "What should I do next. Maybe," she bit her lip in thought, pointing her wand at the dummy lying sprawled onto the floor as a spell came to mind, "Bullarum Immortalem!"

Rita grinned as the black-haired Second Year Hufflepuff first-string beater watched her Wingardium Leviosa being really successful as the training dummie floated quickly up in the air before falling straight on the ground. The Ravenclaw girl beside her also casted her own spell, a bubble-producing charm, and the black-haired Hufflepuff beater watched quite a few solid bubbles being generated before the poor training dummie.

"That bubble producing spell was a solid spell, Bea! And so is the Levitating Charm! Great job, and let`s see what shall we do next!" Rita then opened her mouth to speak as the black-haired Second Year Hufflepuff beater took a short break from casting the spells and took out some water to drink, "Well, I don`t think spells are allowed in Quidditch, but I know you can probably do that in broom racing. In terms of the broom sports, I totally understand it is not a sport for everyone. Some people may find it to be too dangerous to be that high up in the sky, but I`m drawn to Quidditch from its thrill and adrenline, and I think dueling and broom racing are also very amazing sports!"

"Anyway, what spell should I cast after that Levitating Charm?" Rita thought for a while and another somewhat popular spell in the dueling matches came to her mind, and the black-haired Second Year Hufflepuff beater concentrated again to cast that quite popular spell she sort of liked because of its funny effect that let people show a stupid dance, "Let me give that lazy dummie some dance exercise! Here we go, Taratellegra!" Honestly, the incantation of the dancing feet spell was a little difficult to pronounce for the Second Year Hufflepuff beater cos there were quite a few syllables, but Rita hoped she did somewhat well on casting that spell and the Ravenclaw girl beside her named Bea would be pleased with that dancing-feet spell with a somewhat funny effect.

Bea cracked a smile at Rita's antics. Obviously the girl was trying to make her feel better. And Bea couldn't fault her. Bea herself had had a terrible day and as she stood there, she mused that she shouldn't take it out on the poor Badger. "Nice one," she complimented Rita. "It's probably me least favourite spell. I've had it cast at me too many times to count. Incendio is me favourite."

At that she turned from watching Rita back to her own dummy, raising her wand and flicking it in the correct wand movement for Incendio. But not just any Incendio, an Incendio Duo. It had become a favourite of hers, especially after her practice duel with Avery Leveret. Something about fire fascinated her. She was a moth drawn to the flames. To the power it had against others. As she did the wand movement, she said the incantation. "Incendio duo." The spell swished out of wand and landed on the dummy. Bright orange flames, stronger and hotter than a normal Incendio prayed upon the dummy, eating it like a ravaging wolf.

Turning back to Rita, she smiled challenging. "Beat that." It wasn't a competition, not really, but Bea was in the mood for it. Something was needed to get her spirits up.
