Cash's green eyes darted from one Duellist to the next one waiting for anyone to make the first move. Without missing a beat and waiting for the right momentum, Hades Schweighöfer pointed his wand directly to Rose Moon. And just like any other sport, anything can happen. Although Hades only aimed his wand at Rose, his Wind Jinx split into two and went toward Kim Sato too.
Luckily, both of the Gryffindors could anticipate the incoming assault. Rose after seeing the whirlwind of the spell, steps to the side. And Kim, learning from his past mistake, jumped out of the way before the harsh wind could even touch him. The thing about a sport is your sense of camaraderie.
Rose Moon could choose to target either Callista Lovis or Hades Schweighöfer this round. But no, the redhead lioness chose to heal her partner. With ease and the good practice of wand movement for the Healing spells, she gave Kim Sato enough energy to replenish what he had lost in previous rounds and thus giving Kim just enough energy to face the next few rounds that were yet to come.
For Kim Sato, he comes back with a vengeance. His incantation and wand movement are clear as a day. And when he sling the Flipendo toward Hades Schweighöfer the jet of light was like a shock wave. It was fast and quick. Cash needed to squint their eyes to make sure whether the spell hit or missed Kim's intended target.
And it seems both Hades and Kin's luck plays a trick on him. It was like both Hades and Kim's luck laughed at the youngest of the four faces. 'Ha! Not this round, kid!' as at the last minute before the Knockback Jinx could even touch Hades, the fourth-year Hufflepuff stepped out of the way almost bumping into Callsta Lovis in the process.
"Ugh! That was so close"Cash unconsciously bit their finger. Too bad it did not hit Hades. If it hit the badger, well, it is another story to tell. Four rounds down. six to go. At least all the Duellists up to this point still standing on their own two feet. Cash did not have to worry so much about them well except Kim who still burning.

| ─── | Pain was nothing to him.
Lately, Kim had been getting to know it a lot better and it almost had become a friend to him. Perhaps not physical pain but mental and emotional pain were no stranger to him. The fact of the matter was that regardless of the type, it was all still pain. A faint smirk came to his lips at the thought of his nickname changing into the Prince of Pain. The physical pain was helping him deal with what he was going through a little better, not that he'd ever admit that to anyone. He could feel warm liquid running down his cheek again and raised his hand to wipe the blood away a second time. As long as it didn't get into his eyes... At least he was getting more experience with dueling, which meant eventually he'd end up winning again. Maybe it would be this match. Maybe it would be the next match. Who knew? Part of him wondered if his first official match had been a fluke. Could he only have won it because of the one he looked up to? Or had he actually shown some potential during that match? Sure, everyone had wins and losses. You couldn't win all the time or lose all the time. Well, the latter was more likely than the former. But if Kim lost twice in a row... ...what did that say about him? He shook his head, feeling the heat of the flames licking at the ends of his torn sleeve once more. It hurt but at the same time almost felt comforting which was messed up, right? Part of him wanted the flames to be put out but another part wanted them to remain for as long as possible. The pain was distracting him from the dark thoughts that had plagued him since the fall ball had ended. Despite this, Kim's competitiveness was still active and he couldn't help but decide to learn a few of these spells for future duels. They seemed as if they would come in handy if he could manage to master them. It would take time.... But that was all he had now, time. Obscuro and Incendio Duo were two spells he'd focus on first. He knew the incantation and a vague idea of the wand movements but he'd have to study up on them more. And of course, practical application was essential in mastering any spell you were trying to learn. Kim glanced over at Rose as his partner tried to warn him about her haywire spell but he'd already managed to avoid it with his above average evasion. He exchanged eye contact with Rose to let her know he wasn't mad at her for this. Even if he'd gotten hit by her spell, it wouldn't matter. Kim knew it should matter but the fact was his emotions were in turmoil and he couldn't focus. Part of him was depressed and another part was angry and annoyed, it was hard to tell which emotion was stronger. So he was flip-flopping all over, sometimes being one and sometimes being the other. Eventually, things would come to a head and one emotion would emerge on top and dominate him. But until that point, it was a toss-up as to which one would rule him. The duel continued with both sides ending up missing their targets. At least Rose was able to heal him during this time. Kim glanced down at his torn sleeve for a time.... Tiny flames licked at the ends of the fabric and Kim almost seemed laser focused on them. A few drops of warm blood fell onto the ground as his head lowered and he reached up to wipe the blood away again. Glancing over at Rose, the two exchanged a look between eachother and Kim nodded. They could communicate just with their eyes and from their short interaction before the match had started. Rose was definitely a partner who Kim was sure wouldn't leave him to fend on his own for the duration of the match... And for that he was grateful, even if he didn't put those thoughts into words. |

Hufflepuff vs Gryffindor: Match 5
@Kim Sato, @Cassandra Ironwoods, and the Hufflepuff opponents
Kim was starting to look pretty rough. Fire continued to lick at his clothes. She turned her wand on him, this time. "Reparifors," she murmured, the spell coming naturally to her. Rose had never known what exactly lent her to healing so much, but they were by far the easiest spells, and some of her favorite to cast. Rose would much rather have healed her partner than landed an attack spell on her opponents any day.
Kim, Hades, and Callista threw spells at each other, but each of them missed. At least there wasn't any more damage taken this turn. Rose looked over at Kim, locking eye contact with him. He certainly wasn't the most friendly of her partners, since he seemed to prefer being quiet over encouragement, but that was okay. Sometimes a quiet duel was better.
The Gryffindors weren't done yet- they were far from it.

He was the first to cast the spell, but he felt that he would not succeed. He did not know how... But it happened as he had predicted. The spell had originally been aimed at Rose, but it ended up being cast on both of them. That confused him a little. Could his real target have been Kim too? Hades wasn’t quite sure if he was as stubborn as he wanted to try to hit the spell as he wanted to get revenge for what happened earlier. And unfortunately, both lions had managed to dodge it. How?!
For the next, the badger watched silently. Seeing that Rose had chosen a healing spell that had an effect on Kim. He was not surprised, given that his friend was badly hurt and had less points than him and Callista. He managed to dodge Kim’s spell, which nearly collided with his partner. An apologetic whisper was heard. Hades was safe. Hades was trying to evaluate where they were and what he should do now. He wondered what was happening, because they seemed... Different.

The Duel was already halfway through the game and it was not what Cash hoped for. Well, Cash was not that hopeful in the first place. For them, hope is just an illusion. A mere thought that one creates to make oneself happy. Hope is for the believer and wide-eyed wonders and Cash was none of that. The green eyes are a more practical and rational kind of person.
But today was not all about them. Cash could go back to brooding and sulking when today's match is over in the comfort of their dorm room. Today is all about the four Duellists that stood on each side of the piste. The young Ironwoods shook their head to break themselves out ouf their dark cloud.
And just like the last round, instead of opting to go and take out her opponent, Rose Moon decided once again to heal Kim Sato with Reparifors. She done the spell without a hitch. Rose had practiced and performed the said spell a million times before. The fire that licked Kim started to dwindle down and Cash subtly let out a breath of relief.
Cash wonders if Rose Moon aspires to be a Healer since she did the Healing Spell with such ease.On the other side of the platform, something strange happened. Up to now since forever, Callista Lovis is always ready to back Hades up and put up a fight against the Gryffindor Duo. But not this round.
It was like an invisible force had blanketed the third-year badger and put her in a trance. Whatever it is hope Callista could break free for the next round that is yet to come. While the girls were either busy healing their partner or spacing out, the boys had their own kind of fun. Hades Schweighöfer aimed his wand.
He had said the incantation and done the wand movement to a T. The Knockback Jinx had flown out from the tip of his wand. Hoping hit his target, Kim Sato ducked out of the way at the last minute before the spell could even hit him. Cash stifled their laugh. It was like a form of revenge from Kim since Hades also did the same time to Kim's spell on the last round.
To close up the round, the last Duellist who fired away his spell is Kim Sato. Kim Sato pointed his wand to Hades Schweighöfer but nothing come out from his wand.It seems Cash was not the only one under the dark cloud. Could it possibly be contagious? Or perhaps Kim forget how to do the Curse of the Bogie spell?
One other possible reason why Kim failed his spell perhaps he lost his concentration. Whatever it is Cash hoped this little slipped up did not discourage him. Five down, five to go. And Cash, for once, could not wait how the end will play out. Will it be Gryffindor or perhaps it could be Hufflepuff that wins the whole thing? Only time will tell.

Hufflepuff vs Gryffindor: Match 5
@Kim Sato, @Cassandra Ironwoods, and the Hufflepuff opponents
Rose turned her wand on Kim, healing him again. The fire on him had finally gone out, much to Rose’s relief. She let out a breath she hadn’t known she had been holding. She forced herself to relax, to calm down. They were going to be okay. Kim and Hades both cast spells at each other, though they both dodged.
Though she was grateful that Kim wasn’t hit, she wished that they had been able to get some more damage on the Hufflepuffs. They had to be careful with their time, since they were now halfway through.
She took in a deep breath, and let it out slowly. They could do this.

| ─── | It was a shame.
If Rose had seen him sometime during his first year or summertime, things might have been different. Kim wasn't really in the best state of mind to make a good impression on his new dueling partner. Part of him didn't care at the moment and another part just felt too exhausted to even make an effort to do so. It wasn't that he disliked Rose. Not at all. He would have reacted in the same manner to anyone. Well, anyone other than Galton... Galton held a special place in his heart, not romantically, it was more like a respectful feeling. Such as someone he idolized, but not quite to that point. The teen's feelings had never been like that. Not for anyone at Hogwarts. It wasn't as if Rabbit made his heart pound faster, his head spin and his soul feel as if it was escaping his body... As far as partners went, Kim thought Rose was a decent one. He had faith the two of them would put up a good fight against the Badgers! It was definitely a huge change from his last duel, where he'd needed to save his partner from a spell coming her way. She'd frozen at the worst possible time. Kim knew it would have been dangerous to let her get hit at the time from the incoming spell.. So he'd taken it for her. He'd gotten himself knocked out as a result and then the moderator had called for the duel to end after. Apparently, his surviving partner still hadn't been able to focus enough to try and win it for both of them. Even when Kim was gone. On the other hand, Rose was doing really well with him, and Kim thought this time he'd have a chance to win with her. But anything could happen. With what was going on in the present time with him, Kim wouldn't be surprised if they ended up losing again. After all, wasn't he cursed? If they won, it would definitely surprise him. But it would come as a welcome surprise, a ray of light in the darkness. Kim pointed his wand at Hades and tried to cast the spell he'd wanted to afflict his opponent with. But it was around that time that Hades also tried to attack him. The teen avoided his spell with ease, although at the cost of messing up his own in the process. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to hit his opponent this time. But there was always next time and practice makes perfect. Rose was able to heal him again and the flames that had been licking at the edges of his torn sleeve finally poofed out. Now it was time for the Lions to retaliate!!! |

In this round, Hades realized that the contrite Rose had focused on trying to heal Kim. It was to be expected, as his dear friend had suffered enough damage and could not stand any longer. He was unable to imagine how Kim felt at the time. He wondered if the fire that Callista had set earlier still produced some degree of pain. The badger couldn’t lose focus. Even when he believed in Callista that she seemed to have been paralyzed by something unexplainable. He didn't say anything.
Because he had to focus on Kim and try to get him out of the equation. Unfortunately, despite having performed the spell correctly, Kim seemed to have dodged the spell. It caused him to frown, as he did not understand how Kim could avoid him if he was hurt enough by the spells. He stared at his friend, who was pointing the wand at him. The surprise was when nothing came of it. That made him smile discreetly. Maybe Kim wasn’t as formidable a duelist as he thought.

Luck was so fickle.
The Hufflepuffs seemed to be quickly losing their edge, and the time they had was only dwindling. When Calli had tried to cast a simple Flipendo, the incantation had gone of fine, but for some reason, the jet of blue had veered off course, coming nowhere near to Kim and even swerved towards Hades.
All of the spells that round missed except for Rose’s healing spell. Ah. This could be a problem.
Perhaps the situation had sent Calli into a brief spiral, or maybe she had just spaced out. (It’s happened before, although frustrating.) Either way, in the blink of an eye, another round had passed.
Kim seemed to be in much better shape, and Calli could tell the flames would wear off soon. Hades’ spells hadn’t seemed to hit, and Rose seemed intent on healing her partner. She was good at it, too—it reminded Calli of another fourth year; being on the receiving end of their healing had felt like magic. Well, it was, but you know what I mean.
But never mind that. Calli had to get her head back in the game if they were going to have a shot at beating the Gryffindors.

Another round rolled in and it is time for round number 6. Spells fired at the same time from left and right but lest's dissected them one by one. Since on the last round, Callista was in some kind of a trance, Hades decided to do something while the third-year badger gathered her bearing and shook herself back to reality.
Hades Schweighöfer was ready to be Callista's Knight with a lethal wand as he poised his wand in front of his face for a brief moment and pointed out to the youngest Lion, Kim Sato. With a flamboyant incantation and stylish wand movement for the Fire-Making spell II, the fourth-year badger had slung the spell toward the other boy.
Tough he might try, Hades' plan to take Kim down with his Incendio Duo did not met his intended mark. Learning from his past mistake and Kim did not want to get burn for the second tinee, the yoyung Lion was dodge the incoming attack before the fiery sopell could even touch him. In retaliation, Kim Sato had his own plan for how to shoot Hades down.
With a precise wand movement for the Knockback Jinx, Kim successfully delivered the spell towards the other side of the piste, and quite a powerful one too. The spell hit Hades Schweighöfer square on his chest and managed to knock his breath out of his lungs and send Hades several steps back.
And it seems the small gasps from the Knockback Jinx courtesy of one Kim Sato, broke Callista out of her trance and bring her back to reality. Since her partner was under attack, Callista would not let it slide just like that. Her trance seems to have some kind of benefit for the third year. It is the first time Cash saw the spell being flung across the platform.
With confidence, Callista Lovis narrowed he eyes and put her focus solely on the piece of wood that Rose's had in her hand. The Disarming Charm that Callista had used against Rose Moon went out without a hitch. And as a result, Rose Moon's wand is flung out of her hand some distance away from her.
Thus, Rose will need some time to receive her wand back. It was just a millisecond before Callista successfully disarmed Rose, the redhead Lionnes took a page out of Hades' book. Using the same spell as he did toward her partner Kim, Rose Moon also assaulted Hades Schweighöfer with Incendio Duo.
And luck was on Rose's side. Too stunned to even move from the fast jet of light that emits from Rose Moon's wand, Hades was just standing there and had not enough time to duck out of the dangerous path which is the Fire-Making spell II. The fire would lick Hades' trousers and will spread out upward. Cash only hope the fire did not last too long.
